Nokia 7.1 or Motorola G6plus - Off-topic

Hey
I can buy one of these phones used 1-2 months for similar good prcice. And I have dilema.
The most important for me is camera(quality in night condition also matters) - I have no idea which one is better in this field.
Also I pay attention to screen and design - I guess in this regards Nokia win. However I have some doubts about 3gb ram in Nokia, it seems too little, but maybe its enough because of pure android?
I have also option to buy LG G6 but for similar price, but it would be used about 12months.
What do you think?

Hi there,
There are threads already established that are devoted to discussions about devices, please read, and if necessary, repost your question in one of these threads: The what should I buy thread or the The Device Suggestion Thread or the The Device Comparison Thread.
There are also several other discussion threads that you probably should review to help you. They are What phone do you wish you had? or
The Worst Android Device That You've Ever Had & Why or even this place that talks about The best phone you ever owned.
I will have to close this one. Thanks for understanding.

[Poll] New "Android only" forum?

Sorry for posting this here, but I couldn't really find a suitable place since most of the Android action is right here.
These past weeks I've noticed an increase of irrelevant threads and clutter being made in regards to Android development in the HTC Dream forum and every other Android development forum on xda. A lot of Android devices out on the market now are not made by HTC. This of course is causing a problem since this forum is for HTC devices only.
Maybe it would be a good idea if a new forum was created that accounts for all native Android devices (Motorola Droid/Milestone, Motorola Cliq/Dext, Samsung Galaxy, etc...). That way, a lot of the clutter would surely be resolved and a considerate load would be taken off of this server (Gotta hate the horrible load on xda these days...).
I'm sure there are quiet a few people on here that have an HTC device and are fully satisfied with it (Me included!). That doesn't mean that everyone else has to feel the same way. People that choose to go with Samsung, Motorola, etc. for their next Android device should not be left out. That's why I believe there should definitely be a forum that serves everyone.
To put up a new forum specifically for this matter takes no time at all, but it does take participation. So if you feel like this is something you would like to see, please feel free to leave a comment.
What are you're opinions on this matter? Agree? Disagree?
Discuss.
EDIT: If there's enough people interested in this project, would there be anyone willing to help getting things started in terms of hosting space or something similar?
my thoughts are that the few changes that have been recently made should help if they are utilized. now we have a forum for general android development for devs, and the rom releases are in the device specific forums. Here was my idea, but i think they made the right choice. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4795376&postcount=1

It's a start. But I don't think xda is going to put up more sub forums for each new device out there. Thus, development and ROM threads for Motorola and other devices will be left out. Unless I understood your post incorrectly
no, you're right, i just dont think xda WANTS to keep up with every brand that uses android. they apparently keep their focus on HTC devices. there are gonna be a FLOOD of manufacturers utilizing droid in the future, and unless xda wants to change their focus, they will stick with one brand

Yea that's exactly my point.
There WILL be a flood of Android devices from all kinds of manufacturers and it would be nice if there was a place for all of them come together. That way, everyone can keep track of specific development without having to switch between dozens of forums.
My $0.02.
good luck, my friend. Most likely it will take someone to else to start a new site to accomplish. funny, i was fooling around a couple days ago and did this. http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=176593179336&v=wall
not saying this is the solution, but you are not alone in your concerns.
I see that a few agree with me, care to share your point of view? Maybe it will spark this thing.

Custom ROM Suggestion

Hey Guys -
I don't have as much of a technical question, but an opinionated one. I switched from iPhone to Android 3-4 months ago and went with an HTC One. It's different, but has it's pros and cons. The biggest (Android) pro for me is "Tasker." I was big into the jailbreak community for iPhone and there's noting that compares to it.
Anyways, I'm looking for a suggestion for which new custom ROM to use. Soon after getting my HTC One (AT&T M7), I rooted it and loaded Android Revolution. It was ok, but then found ViperOne. I like ViperOne a lot due to it's level of customization but still run Nova on top of it for my desktop. The worst part about my phone is that even wit a Mophie battery case, it dies around 5:00 - 6:00 each day. Yes, it could be due to apps, but would like something which is good with the battery. Too much to ask?
So... here's a breakdown:
- Liked ViperOne best by far
- Plenty of customization
- Good battery life
Thanks!

unfortunately, rom comparison threads aren't allowed here, your thread will probably get closed if a mod see it.
You'll have to try some roms by yourself and see what best fit for your needs.
rules listed in the general thread:
What does not go here (by far an uncomplete list, just some examples for topics that are not tolerated)
Everything prohibited by above linked forum rules.
"Whis is the best rom for this device", "Is this rom better than that" (always subjective, prone to fanboy wars)
Device comparison threads "Which is better: iphone or this phone" (see above)
"What was your last phone/will be your next phone" (Off-Topic to this phone, post that in OT-Forum)
"Hello"/"Goodbye"/"Merry Christmas,Easter,Hannukkah, whatever" (Obviously OT, just imagine every user posts that)
"I'll never buy HTC again", "Why HTC/Samsung/whoever sucks" and all other "hate"-threads (Tell that those guys, not us)
"Help!", "How do I...", "Why..." and all other Questions (belong in Q&A)

As alray mentioned above, we don't allow these kind of threads as it has caused us a lot of issues with arguments in the past.
The only real suggestion we can make, considering we don't know you're kind of usage, is to download a few ROMs and test them out for yourself. That way, you'll be able to find an ideal ROM to suit your needs and may even happen to find a ROM which others wouldn't even have suggested

Topaz Blue S6 or Gold Oppo R9s

Hey guys in having a hard time choosing between these. If you look them up they are very similar. Prices aside, which would you choose?
Thanks, DJ
Easy choice!
if you enjoy being locked in a small room with both your hands tied behind your back and no one to bring you food, you should definitely get the Oppo. If you enjoy the sun on your face and being free to roam about and use widgets and apps and launchers and whatnot, get the S6.

General Why is this Device Thread dead?

So I bought this device. I just love it rn apart from slight hickups here and there.
I just have one question.
WHY IS THE DEVICE THREAD DEAD????
It's a fairly new device and there are literally 7 threads out of which most are just noob questions.
Like i've been on XDA for long and each time a device comes out, the thread is almost immediately active which apperently is the not the case with this one.
This phone just came out, chill out
It is really new.
Everyone might be trying to dev something or not trying at all.
Developers can only make the ROMs and custom recoveries only if they have the phone.
Until it comes into more hands of devs you shouldn't expect to get something for some time
I get that the device is new. But what i've seen with other phones is that the threads are always active and people post stuff on literally the next day the phone comes out. So i was a bit shocked to see that there wer really no discussions on the forum.
Even I was wondering the same thing. This device has decent built quality and also good performance.
wait please. Developers are kinda busy balancing both developing and normal day-to-day life.

Some devices get tons of development, some will get none. Probably this will be one of the latter. I bought into both, there is no telling when a device is new. You just gamble a bit basically. I'm also considering buying one. There is only this and the Pixel 4a. Which is much "less" for the same price.

My point exactly.
Lmfao that dosent have any influence at all.
Developers should have the phone too?
Not to mention that they might be on other flagship phones instead
Maybe in due time maybe not.
