Hi,
I have a Note 8 on EE, it's unlocked as a bought the phone sim free.
Is it possible to use the update from Sammobile for o2 which is V9?
My phone says it has the following version;
N950FXXS5CSA1/N950FEVR5CRHA/N950FXXU5CRK4.
The o2 version is PDA N950FXXU5DSB2 and CSC N950FOTF5DSB2.
https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N950F/O2U/download/N950FXXU5DSB2/258223/
I'm only looking to update if I won't lose any data. Thanks!
If you install it using Odin, then you will loose all your data.

Not necessarily. They can use home_csc instead of CSC, which wouldn't wipe data. Backups should still be done though because things happen and I'm not familiar with UK providers.

Hi Guys,
I purchased a Note 8 (950F) through Gumtree and although I knew it had the Telstra firmware,
I figured I'll just flash the regular Australian XSA unbranded firmware via Odin
and get rid of the Telstra branding as I have done in the past with other Samsungs.
Currently I use an Optus sim (which works) but have lost VoLTE and WiFi calling.
I have tried searching through these forums for a solution but can't get a clear answer.
When I flash the unbranded XSA firmware (BL, AP, CP and CSC, NOT Home_CSC)
I still get the Telstra branding and the software info remains on TEL/TEL/TEL.
Is this normal now? Are we forced to buy a phone from a network carrier if we want to use their services?
Or is there a way to make the switch but I am just overlooking something.
I don't want to root the phone or install anything custom as this will break some banking apps that I'm using.
Please help...
Currently I'm on XEF/XEF/VAU because just upgraded to Oreo, the original CSC is VAU/VAU/VAU
0. Backup your data
1. Download New Zealand or other country firmware.
2. Take both SIM and SD card out.
3. Flash the firmware of other country using CSC, not home_csc
4. Then check your CSC, should be changed.
I did't test the following steps, but I will try this weekend.
5. Flash back to Australia firmware.
6. Check the CSC number, should be changed to XSA
7. Insert SIM card.

Thanks for your input, I was considering this as I want Oreo as well but not game enough to try and mix other countries CSC's yet.
I read somewhere that Oreo will be widely available for most countries as of 1st of April, so I might wait till then and try again.
This does NOT necessarily mean Oz...
Remember, we are at the end of the list to get it as our stupid legal system upheld some patents on icons that Apple took out...
Also, if you're with any of the Telco's, add at least 6 months to that date...
Did you ever manage to get this sorted out? I'm in a similar boat to you, I have an Optus device but a Telstra Sim, when using the Telstra sim, I have no option for VoLTE, but when I use my Optus sim I do. Would like to get VoLTE and other features working on my Telstra sim.
So after a bit of research it looks like it is not possible to flash stock att firmware to the n-960n. Does this sound right. I'm leaving Korea and will be going back to att when I get home.

Not officially, no. However I don't think samsung pay will work in the US on a Korean Note9 anyway, so if you unlock the bootloader and root you can flash a CSC changer to get all of the ATNT features (including voLTE/voWIFI). You will void your warranty and lose knox/Samsung Pay.

you can't flash snapdragon firmware on a exynos device. but regardless, just pop the sim and be happy. no need to change CSC for voice and data.
but if you do root as the suggested then you can get the additional csc features by flashing a csc pack.

Exactly which CSC pack can I use and where do I get it?
I am in the exact same situation: Korean SM-G960N, rooted, on AT&T's network with Android 9.
Do I extract the CSC from the latest SM-G960U1 file and flash that with Odin? Can I use an Android 10 CSC on an Android 9 phone?

Are you looking for AT&T specifically? Cause from what I know they don't release them. I used N960U since the 1 is the unlocked version software. Sorry I can't be much help beyond what I know of AT&T files. Best of luck.

Thanks for the respopnse. Well the link from SamMobile has the CSC in it. I tried to flash the HOME_CSC file via Odin and the Odin PrinceComsy version (I don't think this works on Android 8) and it would not flash.

Hey all
Strange one here, i have a SM-G977B (S10 5G on EE UK), i have unlocked it and trying to flash BTU firmware on it via ODIN (download fw from sammobile)
It flashes ok and passes but when phone starts up its CSC is TEL! (Australia!!)
I have re done the flash with XEU and still the same. firmware version says TEL/TEL/EVR in settings
any ideas on this? can this model be flashed to a different region? i want it on BTU not EVR (EE UK)
tried few versions of ODIn too, and left all check boxes default
Thanks
ok, i have reflashed the latest EVR firmware back to the phone and it has taken this fine
Wonder why it doesnt like BTU or XEU?
What firmware files were you trying to flash specifically?
Sounds like you downloaded the wrong one. What are the names of the firmware files you flashed?

Hi
Tried these
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/BTU/download/G977BXXS2ASJ7/299842/
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/XEU/download/G977BXXS2ASJ7/299840/
The above all flash on in Odin, but when the phone starts (even with uk sim in the phone) it defaults to Australia language and 2x Telstra apps install automatically, software info says tel/tel/evr
I then tried this one:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/firmware/SM-G977B/VOD/download/G977BXXU2ASJ5/299590/
And the above install the 2x Vodafone uk apps automatically which is fine as I am on Vodafone uk but in software Info is still says vod/vod/evr
What my issue is now is I don’t seem to get 5g on this phone even though I’m on a a 5g contract and has worked previously on a note10+ 5g handset.
Is this handset 5g modem locked to ee?

Did you enable OEM unlock in developer options before flashing?
I am waiting for delivery of an EE branded S10 5G tomorrow and planned to flash BTU firmware

OK, well I have always had to do that to change CSC via FW flash since the S9 range was released in 2018.
I am waiting for postman to deliver my S10 5G today so will try to flash BTU with OEM Unlock enabled, and let you know the outcome.
(If it doesn't work for me, i will do same as you and flash a network specific FW via Odin - H3G is my network provider).

Yes exactly. My product code is also SM-G977BZAAEVR, so its always going to be an EE UK handset
Hello,
I have the same phone (SM-G977B), I exchanged it with someone in Shanghai (without a box, stupid me)
It was rooted with some CHC firmware (which did not let me download any Google play services), I tried to root the phone (my first time) and ended up re-locking the bootloader.
Later on, while trying different things, I ended up deleting the firmware from TWRP (as I formatted the data, cache folders/directories) as it was not booting up (bootloop on Samsung logo).
Long story short (and rather sad and stupid):
I have a brick phone which has no SD card slot, No OS installed, I do not know the original CSC (except that it was bought in some country in Europe), other firmwares does not flash with Odin (gives me Repartition error failed error), I am unable to mount the device (thought I could transfer the firmware using MTP), I can not change TWRP (downgrade or upgrade) as disk won't mount (for some reasons). I have formatted the disk, changes its format to ext4, ext2 etc.
Any ideas?
Is it possible to flash stock s10 rom on a s10 which is purchased from Verizon without tripping Knox. The device is recently unlocked by the carrier.
I want to remove the Verizon version of the rom because of the Verizon bloat and services (not saying that stock is clean but it's less crappy).
Thanks in advance
You mean you want to go from Verizon stock to stock Samsung unlocked? Yes, you can do this by downloading the U1 firmware and using the patched version of Odin to flash it with. Note that it will erase everything and you will lose stuff like wifi calling.

no and yes
no it wont factory reset as you do not need to flash the CSC, only the HOME_CSC. No factory reset required. Otherwise youre correct

My US S10+ (G975U - AT&T) isnt getting any software updates (still Android 9, One UI 1.1) because I dont live in the US. I am thinking of flashing it so I can unlock my phone, be free from At&t to get updates but I have a few questions as I’m very new to this.
1. I see G975- U1, F, W, 0, N models for the firmwares, can I use any to flash my device? Which should I use?
2. Will I lose my data during the process?
3. Which CSC code should I look for so I can get updates from now on regardless of my SIM card? I’m using Canadian Freedom SIM.
Thank you

1. You can only flash U and U1 firmware. U firmware
is carrier based, U1 is carrier free based from Samsung. Flashing F, W, O, N firmware will brick your phone.
2. Yes, but only the internal memory as it won't touch a SD card if you have one inserted.
3. Whichever CSC code comes with the unlocked U1 firmware.

Thanks so much for replying. Should I use Home CSC or the CSC file to flash from U to U1? In what case can I use which one? Thanks again.

CSC = factory reset (apps & data are wiped). HOME_CSC = retain data.

Hi, I was researching and it says I HAVE TO use CSC when unlocking my phone from a carrier so I guess I don’t have a choice in this case.
From what I see, U and U1 firmwares are both USA, this means I cannot change the country since I cannot flash my phone with F,N,W firmwares? I mean will U1 help me get updates from now on when im using Canadian Sim in Canada?
If you use a Canadian SIM on the U1 firmware, you should get updates.
