Possible to Root Blu Vivo XL with broken usb port? - Blu Vivo XL

Does anyone know if it is possible to root a Blu Vivo XL on Android 5.1 if the usb port is broken? I have been trying to get some utility out of the phone by charging the battery externally but i would really like to root the device and get it working better. I have tried Towelroot v1&v3(default modstrings) and Artic and neither worked.

From what I understand with Android 5.1 it is not too difficult... my phone upgraded to 6.0 which is a lot more difficult and thusly I have not perused rooting.
But as to the broken USB port you can buy a replacement for about $27 US dollars if you can find one.
I just did it, it was fairly easy... about 30 minutes.

My first Galaxy Tab-S 10.5 had the exact same problem, but I hadn't rooted it so I was able to exchange it. How long ago did you purchase it? If it's within 2 weeks you can probably take it back to where you bought it and get a new one they wont check for root. If it's older you need to send it to Samsung and they will deny the warranty if the Knox counter is at 1. I'm on my 5th one now so I'm afraid to root it until my warranty is over and by then I probably wont be able to because I think Sammy is trying to stop it. the last update already people are saying root doesn't work.
This is the first and last mobile device I'll buy from Samsung. Reasons:
1/ Knox warranty voiding
2/ bloatware. Yeah you can turn off some stuff. But you need root to get rid of some system stuff and every time the tab freezes you wonder if you froze something you should not have. It's a pain.
3/ they do not release their sources in a timely manner. Some sources are not released at all. This makes life hard for devs, and less attractive for them to work on. In turn it means fewer choices and longer wait time for us users.
4/ The main source for downloading stock Rom is a dodgy site that wants you to buy membership for storage locker? Seriously? We're talking about a company with revenues in the top 15 globally.
5/ specs look great on paper, but even after debloating this thing within an inch of its life, some stuff still lag. I don't get it.
Previously I had a nook hd+. The nook is an el cheapo device that was abandoned by its maker, but it has had official CM 4.4.4 build way back I don't know when. At least six months, I know that. And a bunch of unofficial builds with different nifty features. Working smooth and rock stable.
Not that we don't have good, hard working devs here, but it feels like they're swimming against the current. One dev for lollipop rom just quit and is selling his tab.
Man I hope somebody comes out with a big tablet with OLED soon.

Im a n00b. And i really need your help. HTC Desire 626.

Hi all, and a happy multicultural Easter to you too
I'm having from what I can make out, a problem that googling has so far not been able to solve. I've had a read through a few threads on here too and come up short.
Firstly the hardware.
HTC desire 626 (not desire x or desire s etc, just desire 626!!)
Running Android 5.1
Network is EE (UK)
16gb on board storage
Additional 16gb micro SD card
PlayStation 3 500gb (new shape)
Latest PlayStation firmware/software.
Currently no internet in the house as if having fibre put on in 9 days.
Right. On to the problem.
Basically, like all the HTC's I've owned, I want to be able to plug in my phone via USB to the ps3, and watch , or copy over my films, pics, music etc.
Sounds simple? Yeah that's what I thought too.
When I plug it in, it charges etc, but the mount media menu in the menu you dr
I basically can't mount my phone on my PC
I'm told that Rooting my phone, and installing a custom OS (rom?)
But I havnt got a clue what to it, and even reading some guide I'm a bit lost.
Can anyone help guide me through it? It's my brand new baby, and such an awesome phone in all other aspects. I'll buy you a big box of cadburys roses.
Nobody?
Pretty please?

Moto G5S plus does not support Miracast, can i root, unlock and unroot it ?

I recently bought a TV which only supports miracast, but i just now found out that most new stock android type devices do not support miracast, so i was thinking, can i root my phone, enable Miracast protocol and Unroot the device back again ?
Sorry, may be a noob question but that's what i am right now about this topic
If not, alternatives are always welcomed.
P.S- if i don't screw around with a rooted phone too much is it safe to keep a phone rooted for always ? i may end up giving this phone to my sister who is very bad at handling devices software wise and am afraid she may brick it.

It depends what you are looking for.
Im a happy N7+ user, will keep the phone at least 2 more years. Running on pie, zero problems, battery up to 48 hours.
I just dont play games. A lot of photos (thanks GCam) , social, internet, i like the Android 1 concept. Now its price is dropped i think its a good deal.
For the Mi A2 i can just tell you build quality is not comparable with the N7+ and i read about the screen, if you wear sunglasses you cant see it well.
About the Rεalme, test the OS ... i come from EMUI and MIUI and still prefer stock android one.

I also prefer android 1 but i hear about problems in charge , what about that
https://community.phones.nokia.com/...lus-usb-c-charging-port-fail-in-build-quality
and do you think it's a good deal or wait for something like mi a3 or pocophone 2 or something
I am also change my phone every 2-3 years
there are cases that report this problem and other little things now and then, its true.
But i think the majority doesn't have them, and since you buy a new device you have warranty, so if something comes up you bring it back and demand a repair.
I too have zero problem with Pie (no charging/battery/wifi/bt/usb/screen problem which you can read from some peoples here in some n7p threads)...
Only problem is no officially way for unlock bootloader, but if you buy with nonupdated (security <= august) and you dont install ota, is possible unofficially unlock (payed service(generating signature file based on your imei/sn) per 4$ and you unlock it with this file)...
Device with newer update is need downgrade before unlocking (another payed service 6$? Is need remote to ypur pc with vonnected phone)

The phone is from late 2018 it's not even half a year old so I don't understand what you mean with 'still' worth. I come from a Droid Turbo (XT1254) and I spend around a week to carefully select the right phone, I also did this when I made the decission for the 7+.
The upsides in daily experiences:
Battery lasting (disable the Evenwell batterysaver for more durance),
Camera (on gcam it's crazy good quality)
Speed
Sound (loud and good)
Memory slot
The downsides I have discovered:
USB-C connection (could also be dirt, or the cable)
Screen is no amoled, and in sunlight performs like most devices
After rooting, not that much mods as I am used to like Droid Turbo
I am very happy with this device, it's a very good follow up to my Droid Turbo although I miss the IR-sensors that Motorola put on the Droid Turbo. At meetings it was like "how did you do that" when I wave to see the incoming messages. It was fun

Very happy with the phone also.
No issues on Pie.
Min. 2 days battery (no gaming, YouTube or Facebook).
If this phone would have been smaller (like 5.6" pixel 3) it would have been perfect.
Xiaomi phones are cheap, but with a reason.
Not sure about realme, but Android one is worth it.
Good luck.
If you don't use NFC, buy Redmi Note 7 (Pro).

Yes, for me, for TWRP, rooting with Magisk, Magisk mofules, Greenify in better root mode, TitaniumBackup, access to all apps data, F-Droid privileged (instakl/update direct without need manualy confirm all packages install)...
For others is also benefit try others roms (also GSI pissible), others kernelm etc...
edit: also with unlocked is possible downgrade to any previous Pie /Oreo

It's loose on several Nokia devices due to a designflaw at production. The port is too big and gives room for the cable to move/get loosen. One solution is to 'fatten' the cable through knife, or to just use a docking station.
Sending a loose USB-C for warrenty will just fix the problem temporarly and a lot of phone fixing companies take days/weeks + may return your device with new scratches.

Presonally I would not recommend at all.
Why? This phone is stupidly unstable. Few days ago I wanted to delete history in Chrome from the last 7 days, my phone freezed during the delete process.
Also uninstalling apps is for some reason slow, even when uninstalling or disabling some apps can cause also phone to freeze. The list could be even long, you can find issues I find on my posts through my profile.
Really tired of this phone, and dissapointed because I am emotionally connected with the Nokia brand, having now Nokia phone was a must, but unfortunately I regret.
I am still on older build, 32CC, I saw there are much newer builds where they maybe fix those issues, but I cannot even manually sideload those updates.
I don´t know what is the situation with other phones like 8.1, 7.1, do they have similar problem? Can anyone confirm this?
Also you can see that HMD struggles with the software, Nokia 9 which was supposed to came out back in August last year and which came 7 months later, still have software issues, probably everyone at HMD is all in to fix software issues for Nokia 9, also literally not a single Nokia device did not get March update, which shows that HMD is really poor with the software engineers.
hi, i bought my Nokia 7 plus on April 2018 for MYR1600. Phone good on paper but bad in implementation.
Frequent screen freezes (power off n on to fix issue) n loose USB port after 6 months. Sent to service center n they replaced usb port n motherboard. update November 2018 update n screen blank off when making receiving calls.
they replace the same thing again. RUN AWAY FROM THIS PHONE
Bad sides is Speed and Usb-c port issue for me. It has all aroung good stuffs
There's no lineageOS and 60fps video (and official bootloader unlock, not even a recovery tool!). If you don't care about those, then its still a great buy from what I've known so far. Heard that the camera is good. It's included in my shortlist.
Spend a bit more and you can get the Xiaomi f1 and even xz1 (bit old but not bad).

Buying a Razer Phone in 2022

I've been looking at new phones since my time with the Pixel 3A may be coming to a close (if I choose to switch or fail to repair it), and was deeply saddened by the current phone scene, at least for my wants.
I'm looking for a phone with all or some of these features: a headphone jack, telephoto lens, and stereo speakers. And that's when I remembered my Robin, and the Razers that followed it.
How is LineageOS on the RP2? Is it daily-able? (Shout-out to npjohnson for keeping the Robin and Razer alive, you absolute madlad) Also, has maintaining support been difficult, such that future versions of Android could be impossible to get 100% functional like the phone is now on lineageOS 19.1?
Have any of y'all had to replace the battery yet? Are new ones high quality ones easy to source and put into the device?
Is the camera performance good? Any good gcam apks that make it awesome to use?
so i have a razer phone 2. i just upgraded to the RED magic 7. but i still game only on my razer.. since i had it. ive gone through 1 battery. since 2018 since i had it. and as usual the USB charge port goes out.. i also justt got that part from ebay. i literally bought the last one. some dude was sellinglike 10 of them for 40$ a pop.. an i replaced it myself. BUT... now my phone wont get recognized by my computer.. IT CHARGES. but soon as i wanna plug it into the computer. it just charges. doesnt make a beep on the computer. or nothin. idk if its cause the new piece isnt "factory" or what. i did all the udb settings, possible, no luck.. my phone is Rooted. android 9. im afraid to lose root an wipe it. or idk . if i wipe it i may be sccrewed cause i still wont be able to use it on computer. and flash it to a normal rom. replacing the battery is really easy... and those damn charging ports. go out. when u take it apart its literally a 90* degree ribbon that hangs off the chip. then flips into the usb c hole on the bottom of the phone. what i found out when taking it apart is it literally tore an edge on the ribbon leading to the chip. so thats why the charger goes out. Fd up design but. theres absolutley no new razer phones for sale. all the ones on ebay are all risky/ usb port messed up. so if ur looking there, id ask everyone if " charge port is okay, or if "the cord has to be wiggled, certain way to charge it." if you gotta wiggle it, then its pretty much really close to just not working anymore.. unless being replaced. cameras ok.. idk. its a 2018 phone. it was pretty ahead of its time when it was out.. now theres alot better. but for the price of one. like 100-150$ its decent . maybe jew someone down.
