Help with rooting - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

I've got a Samsung Galaxy note 9 Verizon 512gb. I paid a good amount of money for it and have yet to find a app(bought or free) a proper safe way without loosing major functions etc. I NEED A SOLID ROOTING PROCESS PLEASE WITH NO QUESTIONABLE BRICKS, FUNCTION LOSS, ETC. I'VE YET TO FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH ANYONE'S PROCESS.

Sorry, you should have done your research. The Verizon Note 9 cannot be rooted. Probably will never be able to be. The only way to have a rooted Note 9 on Verizon is to buy the international Snapdragon (9600) and bootloader unlock it to flash firmware that will work. If you do buy a 9600, check the Snapdragon development section.

Help with rooting my Samsung Galaxy note 9 Verizon
Ok so I had a response to my thread and was told that my phone can't be rooted. Then how do I flash a recovery, super user, or my own ROM. PLEASE UNDERSTAND I'M NOT STUPID IVE HAD A BRAIN INJURY AND I'M JUST GETTING BACK INTO DEVELOPMENT. I WANT TO BE A DEVELOP ER. THERE'S GOT TO BE A way I can do all the functions and flashes just no rooting.

Please do some research. The N960U/U1 cannot be rooted. There's folks working on it, but there's nothing concrete as yet.currently only the Exynos and N9600 can be rooted

Chance of bricking..?

Hi people,
I'm new to this forum and this is my first thread..
Here is my situation, i just recently bought a Captivate through ebay and its locked.. I will try to find the unlock code using the method in this forum.. after i unlock it, i think i would love to update the android os to 2.2..
will any of this process have the slightly chance of bricking my Captivate?
i will not try to root my Captivate yet coz of the possibility of bricking it..
I will wait until there are solutions to this bricking thing, or when i feel bored i might try this.. ^_^
also, if you guys are kind enough, i would love to know what all kind of things that will brick a Captivate..
Thanks..
I am no expert but XDA helped me with my first smartphone (Palm Treo 750 bought on ebay) and I did everything without any problem. You need to read much until you understand everything clearly and always follow the instructions step by step because these guys know their stuff. Currently buy a Captivate. I love this phone. Already rooted and Im to upgrade FroYo without fear because if it becomes a brick I know that here finds it solution. Good luck.
got to read
Yep, that's the key. Read, read, read, and then you will have to read some more! I'm new to the board also, and this is my first smartphone. I've spent the past month reading threads in the development section when I have the chance (which is not very often...) and there is still a LOT of reading and learning I need to do!
Don't forget to use the search, which might or might not help. Honestly the biggest help is to read all the posts in all the threads - which will take a while!!
Lot's of great help on this board. I'm pretty close to feeling up to speed enough to cook this thing without fear of bricking...
I would wait a while before you do anything like installing the JI6 Froyo ROM. From what I've read, you have more chance of bricking your Cappy during that process than by doing anything else.
BTW, by just rooting or unlocking your unit you have very little chance of bricking your phone. It's what you can do after you root your phone that can cause it to brick. lol
Like the above poster said; "READ, READ, READ" and then when you decide you want to do something, read some more. I've been reading these forums since before August 15 when I got my captivate, and I STILL haven't done anything like rooting because I'm staying "stock" until the official froyo update is released.
Thanks for the nice reply guys.. and yes, i will keep on reading through this forum..
btw, from what i understand, rooting will enable your phone to install android apps from worldwide market right? does it safe? i mean, i heard that someone bricked their phone while installing some apps..
If you are interested in side-loading apps, try the Android Sideload Wonder Machine (it's called something like that). It works well for me. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for, but it is useful to know.

once you are rooted, you would still have to enable market access (for apps outside your att restricted market)
i would like to see how installing an app bricked a phone.....i call shens.
rooting is easy, and just by rooting your phone you wont brick it. you would actually have to do something to harm it. even then, its all recoverable via ODIN.
Sorry for a noob question.. but, what is JI6? ^_^
JI6 is the version of froyo (android 2.2). Go on the phone to settings-> about phone-> it's in the baseband version. Mine is I897UCJI6 (froyo).

To Root or not to Root. . traded in my iphone 4 for an android. .

Got the Galaxy Note and runs great...Im just wondering if rooting is something i should take the time to learn and do. . does it really make the phone/experience that much better
I know when i had an iphone I would jailbreak it and would never use a factory set iphone .. is it the same thing with Android?
im sure this question has been asked time and again on this forum, but figured i would ask Note users. .
when rooting is there a chance to "brick" the note or do any permanant damage or is it all reversible? . .
thanks for any input. .

Use this method to root : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1329360
easy and fast rooting.
will not increase counter.
Wun brick your phone for rooting. Your phone might only brick when you flash roms or kernels.
But after rooting, you will get CWM, flashing from there will hardly brick your phone.
Read up on backups like Nandroid backups & titanium backups.
Don worry too much. Just root it!
If you have been jailbreaking the iphone, this shouldn't be over your head
I prefer to stay as close to unmodified as I can for as long as I can.
Rooting and flashing ROMs really breathes new life into a device, and the novelty of the galaxy note is still fresh for me.
Congratulations for seeing the light. In regards to the phone switch

face it you will root sooner or later and, to be frank, there is nothing scary it it.
Let's meet in 2 weeks you would have rooted and running a custom rom by then ;o)
Thanks for the replies. .
I think going to go ahead and root. .that Rocket Rom looks really nice..

You have to root your Note prior to flashing custom Roms. You'll find a useful guide to rooting your phone here.
After you're done with rooting there's at least a dozen custom Roms for you to chose from. Visit their respective threads and get acquainted with their features.
Flashing is the easiest part, you'll see.
No fully functioning Miui rom so far, but one will make an appearance before very long.
And welcome to the Note community. You're in good hands here.
The telus one is different than the international version....look for the at&t forum for the note on xda...
Will I see this phone for sale on sporfsfreaksonline or red flag deals in 2 weeks mr.kakarot???

Already on rfd and kijiji.... But you won't like the price

Just got a S6 Active and think I made a mistake

Straight up Question: Is there any way to root?
I just picked up an S6 Active with 6.0.1 on it and was planning to root it and use it for some in car functions that I need root access for. I should have done some more research prior to buying [emoji20] Am I just not finding it or is there no known way to root the S6 Active? I have searched and it does look like there is no solution, but figured I would ask before I sold the phone again :silly: Thanks all!
No reliably known method to root. Many claims, no evidence.
Yeah dude cf auto root and odin3 v3.11.2

take note thats the first time poster has posted also there is no method that currently works on 6 or above just read the forums..... All those claiming it has been done have never posted proof or instructions....... Sorry to have ruined your hopes but thats just how things are currently!
Thank you. I ended up selling the S6 and got another device that I rooted. Thanks for your help.
Well that's just great, another device down the not-getting drain. No root, no way for unlocking bootloader or no new nice LaOS.

Exynos. Rooting question

is there a way to root without triping knox? Or is any1 working on it?
Maybe if you wanted a partial root like snapdragon models....but if you want custom recovery then no.
I just want to delete few apps Cuz I like Stock
First time Samsung and I am very happy with that <3
Awww, from my experience. if you partially rooted it and tried to put the phone back to official or non rooted status then it wont boot unless you reset it again so it kind of wont work. honestly though most of these custom roms are pretty good like Renovate N95x for the note 8, best rom from my own experience.
k but I never had so expensive Phone . I am too scared that something might go wrong :/ I'll wait with root a month or more if that. thx 4 help
