Hi All,
I'm trying to set a password which have alphabets numbers and characters, but in phone setting we don't have characters option in keyboard. I tried with different third-party keyboards like Gboard, Swift keyboard and also by disabling the secure keyboard. None worked.
While i disable the secure keyboard it will still be present when entering password.
Please Devs help me since i need to set up Intune for company mails.
mine just working fine though.. same as you set it, just use 3rd party keyboard as default and disable security input for using it as password keyboard

the last google app update on September 8 will not let me text search. it changed the default search to voice in language and inputs and won't let me uncheck the box. it also apparently removed the box to enable google keyboard that was located in the same menu.
fixed- installed swiftkey, uninstalled google keyboard- able to both text and voice input again.
Hi all. I'm having an issue where when I try tapping the microphone button on the stock keyboard the voice input thing pops up but then quickly disappears. Voice input is working in other ways just not from the keyboard. Has anyone else experienced this? Oh, it also does the same thing on Swiftkey.
SOLUTION: so it turns out this only happens while using the stock messaging (sms) client. Voice input works when I switch over to using, the very similar, Google messenger app. Also in Facebook messenger, email apps etc. Therefore it is not a problem with voice input or with the keyboard exactly, but how the stock messenger app interacts with the keyboard.
Anyways I'm curious to see if this happens to others with the Idol 4 (non-S). Comment below with your experience and hit the thanks button if this has helped you.
You should try the Google keyboard, it has swiping feature and on my phone the mic button works
I think the Google keyboard IS the stock keyboard. But yes I I've tried it.

No I think the default keyboard is the "Android keyboard" has no swipe. Google keyboard is different.
No issues here using both stock Google keyboard or SwiftKey.

Thanks. I must have a faulty unit. A factory reset doesn't fix it.

Yes i can confirm that the stock sms app is at fault. i use Textra for sms so i never noticed the issue.
Hi, I just got my phone through xiaomidevices.com. It came with the english pack and google play store installed. The only option I can't get to work is the speech to text feature. The microphone does not appear in the messaging or any other app except the google search bar. I have tried all the settings, installed all the google features, activated all the appropriate permissions but nothing. Is it unavailable with MIUI8? Thanks for any help.

Settings -> additional settings -> language & input -> current keyboard -> choose keyboards -> enable google voice typing (?)
Same here
I am having the same issue. I like the Kika keyboard that came on the Mi Mix, but when you click on voice typing it says it is forbidden. Then in the Gboard settings there is no option for voice typing at all. I've gone to settings and language input and it does not show Google voice to text or as a keyboard option. There is a text to speech option father down the settings page but that has also has no option to enable the option even after downloading the correct language.
I am rooted, with unlocked bootloader running the EU ROM.

I too had the same issue until recently. I downloaded the swift keyboard app from the Google Play Store. When I opened the app it brought me to a new keyboard selection page that I had never before seen. On this page was the option to click Google Voice typing keyboard and since then I have been able to have Google Voice texting in any keyboard app

Thorin78's advice was my solution. I can't believe I missed it. If you already have gboard installed and those steps dont work I might try reloading the ROM since your issue doesnt seem common with it.
Solution to no text to speech Xiaomi
Download Good Assistant and Google Voice Search from the Play Store and all of your problems will be solved
I use 'Textra' as my SMS messaging app and have set it as the default in settings, but after a restart notice it doesn't stick and I have to set it as default again.
Anyone else have this issue and is there a fix? Thanks.
I use Messages instead of the default Messaging app and it sticks.
Global EU ROM v2.09 here
The phone is dumb when you switch default apps because of the gaming mode. It's a bug. Email support. It also will bug out if you attempt to install a new launcher, until you go in and manually change it.
So until the bug is fixed, use:
Settings
Apps and Notifications
Default Apps

Yes I have the same issue as well, I use Google Messages and every time I restart my phone it keeps going back to the stock messaging app.
Hi,
Same problem here : Textra doesn't stick...
Regards.
I was using Swype keyboard, but it kept reverting to GBoard.
I thought it was a Pie thing, but maybe not.
Anyway, I read something about adding apps that you want to stick as default apps to Game Space...
Is that a thing?

After disabling default apps the apps do stick to what u set as default
Disabling the stock messaging app, after setting Google Messages as default, stops the stock app from taking over after reboot.
I cannot send sms but I can receive them any help I am on cn rom
I use Samsung internet browser and on some websites I have to enter codes received by SMS.
When I receive an SMS with a code, it doesn't autofill directly in browser and I have to insert it manually.
I have seen several videos and shows that it was possible to activate this feature from the autofill options and Google options. I have tried everything but nothing works.
I also tried using Google's default app for texting but was unsuccessful. Same with Chrome.
Does anyone have the same issue or a solution?
I'm sorry, I'm not sure what the problem is.
Sorry I edited my post with :

it seems that browser auto-fill codes don't work as they should or do in an app...Apparently, the field where you need to input the code in the browser is considered a text field by the browser which is not the case with an app (I think)
I believe i was able to achieve this by using googls chrome and google messages. Samsung internet doesn't seem to be compatible with this
