Question SMS autofill - Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

I use Samsung internet browser and on some websites I have to enter codes received by SMS.
When I receive an SMS with a code, it doesn't autofill directly in browser and I have to insert it manually.
I have seen several videos and shows that it was possible to activate this feature from the autofill options and Google options. I have tried everything but nothing works.
I also tried using Google's default app for texting but was unsuccessful. Same with Chrome.
Does anyone have the same issue or a solution?

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what the problem is.

Sorry I edited my post with :
When I receive an SMS with a code, it doesn't autofill directly in browser and I have to insert it manually

it seems that browser auto-fill codes don't work as they should or do in an app...Apparently, the field where you need to input the code in the browser is considered a text field by the browser which is not the case with an app (I think)

I believe i was able to achieve this by using googls chrome and google messages. Samsung internet doesn't seem to be compatible with this

SMS Client

Has anybody tried getting SMS on your nook? I tried getting Google Voice to work but can't remember specifically but I ran into some roadblocks getting it to work. It was looking for local phone services or something. Has anybody got at SMS to work on the nook. I think it would be nice to send and receive text messages.
this would be awesome
I got Google voice am to work but I'm not sure how.
Magically transmitted across the interwebs by my kickass NookColor!
Google voice works great on NC for SMS
Thanks, I have to retry this. It was late when I was installing, could have missed something.
Make sure you have a Google voice number not just the account. I had to pick a gv number in order for texts to work.
Works great here too.

Google voice working here. Yes, make sure you have chosen to get a gv. Number and not just using your cell phone number with gv
Google voice downloaded from the market works on my daughter's nook. She can send and receive texts. Is there a way to get the contacts to show up? When she tries to compose, it seems the only option is to manually type in the number. I can't find a way to access an address book from within google voice. Am I missing something?
Thanks!
How do you get a number for. The nook.
I have gv on my phone already but how do I assign a number to my nook.

Just use the same credentials. You should receive messages on both devices. I have my iPhone 4 and nook set up for that. Unless you want to deal with another number there is no reason to create a new one.

Has anyone tried getting WhatsApp to work? It needs to send a confirmation sms to your specified number, I'm trying to find a way to bypass that portion. Google Voice works great in the mean time, but Whatsapp is great for sending multimedia.
I am sensing a little confusion here...
Remember folks, true SMS messaging requires cellular service, as it uses the cellular radio to send packets of information to the cell towers and through the service providers.
The only way to go about text messaging without a cellular radio on a device is to use a VOIP service (Voice Over IP) that also allows text-messaging. I'm actually not familiar with Skype at all, so I'm not sure if they also use phone-numbers, but with Google Voice, you have to have a phone number, which is one that is provided to you (you get to choice of available numbers).
The only other option for messaging over text, other than using a VOIP service that offers a texting feature, is to use an instant-messaging service (i.e. AIM).
Agreed. I completely understand the sms bit, which is why google voice works. But Whatsapp is also data based, which is why its so great. However it still requires an activation step but sending an sms to your number which obviously cant be done. However I'm curious of anyone knows of a way to bypass the activation portion altogether?

cant you tell it to send a sms to your google voice number?
I can't seem to get this to work. I DLed the google voice app from the market, it walks me through set up, I log in with the same gmail account that my gvoice # is assigned to, but then it only shows my mobile number, not my gvoice #. I select add a # and then the screen just stays put....nothing happens. I have to press n to go back to my home launcher.
Any hints?
Has anyone got a contract list to work with google voice?

what do you guys mean by this? I can't get mine to work. Like the other guy said, i downloaded from market, selected my mobile phone number (when I try to add a phone number it doesn't work). I can send text messages that send from my GV number but I can't receive any messages. I can't receive any messages on my mobile phone either, for that matter.
Any ideas?
I don't have Google Voice installed on my mobile phone, but that shouldn't matter, right?
Thanks!
GTalkSMS / TalkMyPhone
I've been using a neat app called 'GTalkSMS' (available on Market) that allows me to use Google Talk to send and receive SMS from my phone number. GTalkSMS works great when I'm at desktop and is also quite serviceable from the Nook.
You may have to first set up a separate Jabber chat account for the phone (if you're using Google Talk as the chat program). After that step, I've used it for:
- sending & receiving SMSes (after forgetting my phone at home/other side of the house (lol));
- looking up contact info on the phone (includes email & physical addresses as well as phone numbers);
- locating my phone with GPS coordinates and by setting it to ring;
- writing on my phone/sending links or clipboard content...etc.
I don't have Google Voice locally, so I'm not sure how it compares -- let me know!
TextPlus seems to work. (;

I've used GTalkSMS and Google Voice, and I prefer Google Voice, only because I don't have to set up a Jabber chat account to make it work, and it allows me to use the same number for SMS on all my devices. But if you don't have a Google Voice number, GTalkSMS is the way to go!

[Q] Text prediction not working with Email app?

I cannot get the text prediction bar to show up in the default email app. Tried Gingerbread Keyboard and Swiftkey. The prediction bar shows up in all other applications, just not the email app.
I reflashed a fresh, vanilla copy of the default Samsung Gingerbread (XWJVB) and it does not work there either!
I don't see anyone else complaining about this problem, so I am wondering if I have some how managed to corrupt something that doesn't get cleared by a fresh Odin install (with PIT checked!)... or does nobody who uses the default Email app care about text prediction or... what is up?
I have same question here. Found this thread by searching the web. It looks like text prediction is disabled for some strange reason in the email program. Is there any way to enable it?

Hangouts Dialer As Default Bug - How to properly file a bug report upstream?

Hey guys, I need some instruction on how to file an official bug report upstream for the android team and what information captures I should include and how to retrieve those? I am including a description of the bug/problem here on the off chance that anyone knows of an existing fix or workaround.
PS. Stock unrooted locked encrypted google play store variant nexus 6 64GB midnight blue with the latest OTA updates and all apps up to date, no "user modifications" made....yet
I have set up hangouts & hangouts dialer as my default MMS/SMS client, and I have ticked use hangouts dialer for incoming calls in hangouts. My google voice number is the same as my sprint mobile number thanks to sprint google voice integration, I have disabled all forwarding phones in google voice options. When I get a call to my sprint number incoming hangouts dialer shows up alone and works perfect and unanswered calls go to google voice voicemail.
When I open chrome and click on a phone link I get the choose default popup that has the options to select "phone dialer or hangouts dialer" I select hangouts dialer and tap on "always", then I close chrome reopen it to a new phone link and tap the phone link and it again opens the choose default dialog even though I just set hangouts dialer as my permanent default a second ago, it continues to do this EACH time no matter how many times I set hangouts dialer as my default dialer. I have tried disabling google dialer in settings(defaults option for google dialer are greyed out), turning off mobile data & everything but WiFi (don't see how that should change anything, and it doesn't change anything).
So to sum it up I can not set hangouts dialer as my default dialer on a google play bought nexus 6 running stock everything latest updates all apps up to date. The default dialer selection " always" just does not seem to get set when always is selected. Me setting hangouts dialer to always is not remembered.
To make matters worse when I select hangouts dialer and tap "always" it opens hangouts one time and it DOES put the number into the dialer but it does NOT hit call or initiate the call, like the default dialer does with phone links.
Further, after attempting to set hangouts dialer as default "always" 20 times, when I do "OK google call xxxxxxxxxx" voice command it shows the blue google dialer logo there's nothing to tap on to change what dialer OK google opens and it opens it with the default google phone dialer, is there some trick to make a call using hangouts with OK google? Is the trigger word not "call"? I've tried ", hang out with" which seems unrecognized and a few others. This really effects me as have two android wear devices and I use hangouts as my primary SMS/MMS/phone dialer and when I make a call through a wear device it doesn't use hangouts and it doesn't show in my hang outs call history.
I have installed the google voice app and selected the options "view and play voice mail in the phone call dialog". (Most likely unrelated).
If anyone knows a fix or workaround for this I would be seriously thankful.
Any help on how to file a bug report with adequate information upstream and how to motivate the android team to fix this is also appreciated!
Thanks.
Gary M.

Also, when I swipe left to right from the lock screen to open the default dialer google dialer opens NOT hangouts dialer which I have tried so desperate 30 times to set as default.

Did you ever find a go-around for this? Any solution at all? FYI, this problem is NOT Nexus 6 specific. I have the EXACT same issues on the Moto X 2014. Must be an overall Hangouts Dialer Bug.
Anyone else have ideas for a go-around until Google fixes it?

Touch phone number to dial doesn't launch dialer

I'm having an issue with being able to touch to dial a phone number listed as text in an email or web browser. When I try to tap a phone number, it doesn't launch the dialer. I have not had this issue on any other Android device. I am stock rooted.
Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks!

I'm disgusted that you haven't gotten a response.
I try to set hangouts dialer as my default dialer, and select "use always" and the next time I click a phone number link in chrome or slide from the bottom of the lock screen to go straight to the dialer, it asks me again what dialer I want to use -- lollipop refuses to remember my selection, this happens on every lollipop and nexus 6 device, not just mine or yours, people are either just lazy, stupid, or don't file bug reports(FOI I filed it), and I've made the android team aware of the issue through email -- no action has been taken yet this was over a week ago.
Setting hangouts dialer to always(and failing), and opening a contact from the contacts app opens the AOSP dialer, further more.
I'm sure it's related to your issue.

Dex Mode texting with keyboard, Chrome dimming issue, and App suggestions?

Been using Dex mode the last couple days and there is a couple things I find really annoying. One is when I'm texting, hitting enter doesn't send a text message, it just acts as the return key in samsung messages and the default android messages app. I can change my messaging app to the facebook messenger which hitting enter does work but it is kind of terrible looking in dex mode and I'm not a fan of involving facebook in my messages if I don't have to. and Two, for whatever reason my chrome window will dim and will not brighten back up, I can have it up and get a text message that pulls up and after I reply and close the messaging app chrome is noticeably dimmed, the samsung internet browser doesn't do this but I prefer chrome since all my stuff is saved and tied to it.
Does anyone know how to make my physical keyboard send messages with the enter key in the default Samsung messages app? I can't find anywhere to map keys and it gets old having to click a send button all the time.
Does anyone else's chrome dim when switching between apps in dex but never brighten back to normal? Been using the samsung browser but it isn't my favorite.
Does anyone have any good app options to use in dex? Video/Audio/Photo editors, media players, Spreadsheet/Docs/Presentation software, and anything else you can think of that might be useful.
Currently using sheets/docs from google, vlc media player, and the photoshop collage maker app for pictures.
Basically I can get by my daily work routines with a decent app to perform these few functions. (video editing/photo editing, spreadsheets, documents, presentations, and a good media player that can use subtitles.) And if I can accomplish this in dex I could solve a lot of problems without having to go run around and retrieve my laptop or be forced to carry it with me 100% of the time.
I'm having the same issue, but can't pin down what the issue is. I think I have found that opening a new tab fixes it for a time...
