Note 8 (N950F), Rooted baseband: N950FXXU4CRG8, Oreo 8.0
Both Google play store and Samsung galaxy app store have their auto update disabled. Also, developer options has system auto update disabled.
Somehow system apps getting updated under the table, I found out thanks to Xprivacy notifications when apps gets updated to new version.
Please help me stop this. Auto updated apps can ruin a good phone with new versions that could force close for no reason or have features removed.

Certain system apps will auto-update, no matter what you do. I've had this happen to me, as well.

Why is it the only thing that uses data even when not even using the phone? I tried everything. Disabled background data, sync off. Every little setting, I went into and turned everything off. I restored my phone to factory settings and didnt log into my google account when they asked. I skipped everything. I tried everything and it still uses data.
Anyone know why? I have the moto g 2nd gen US version.
Your Android Os is updating Some Apks I think Apps like Google play services & playstore Application To Latest Version.. when you Login into Your account just Goto Playstore Then Settings Click on Auto update And Set it To DO NOT AUTO UPDATE Apps ..
There is A best option If Ur rooted Just download The Titanium Backup And freeze The Playstore...

I don't know anything about rooting phones Im not a pro. I think I will wait for the next version of Android to come out and see if that fixes the problem. I did set setting to not to auto update but Android OS still keeps using data.
Here is a screenshot.

Rooting is not hard as u think..
U don't have to be a pro..
At some point today my phone updated and changed my app drawer to some new style. I don't care for the search bar at all, its useless to me completely. Is there any way to remove it, or revert to the older one without rooting?
I also would like to remove the recent apps or whatever that is at the top.
My phone did this after updating Android System Webview. I sure I hope I can revert it back to the OG look.
I don't think it's the Web view. I guess I'm going to have to find another launcher
I've had a system update for a few days now, after webview updated I tried opening the app drawer and it's now different, and I have yet to install the OTA.

Huh..You got vertical app drawer and i didnt..HOW??
I'm guessing you're running the Android 6.0 dev preview? Looks like Google Now on Tap.

My phone is bone stock, not rooted only ota updates from Google. No dev view anything.
your google app has updated, try going to settings > apps > google app and uninstall updates, should let you revert to an older version.
Has anyone else noticed their apps updating themselves without the use of the play store? I swear today I saw Facebook and Google play music do it.

they only update if you have the auto update option enabled in the play store. otherwise they do not auto update.
I must have slept too long then and not noticed the new features in GPM. Unless they were features already implemented but not enabled until Google decided to do so. I don't remember tapping search ever opened up a small search box, it was always it took me to a different screen.

I used to get something like that third picture
And now I get this little search box, and the play store doesn't show that it was recently updated.

It's pretty standard for google to implement features weeks or months in advance to "rolling them out" and usually it depends on Google Play Services which auto updates regardless of settings. wouldn't surprise me if Facebook used similar rollout methods
Earlier I was using moto G2 that had a stock android and I was able to disable all the google bloatware that I didn't use. Now I bought a new phone (Lenovo Z2 Plus) which has a slightly customized ROM (Almost looks and fells like Stock) and I am not able to disable apps. What could be the reason?

See the disabled option White'd out ??
The reason is the manufacturer and Google do not want you to disable them, also Lenovo says the ROM is specially made keeping in mind the preferences of Indian population, and I think we do use the stock Google apps (lot of people I know do). And is there any reason you want to disable them?

Are there any means to disable any app without rooting?
To disable there apps, you´ll need root.
There are at least two different app-directorys in the android system. apps in one directory can be disabled. apps in the other are "protected" and can´t be disabled/removed without root.
Some of these apps in the protected folder are requierd by the system to work. Still there are also many unnecessary apps protected and i can´t understand why.

In Backtrace you see the app caused crash to system
mine was /data/data/com.android.webview/....
this picture is just a screenshot from google
next you should go to setting
Settings > Apps > Manage Apps >3 dots on left upside(option "Show all Apps or Show System Apps"> Search for “WebView” > App Info > Uninstall updates.
Go to Google play store>setting>Turn off auto update(google update Android System webview Again if dont do this)
after that problem fixed
just read backtrace info and go Uninstall app caused problem.
in the picture for example Facebook Caused Problem
[UPDATE #2]
Some xiaomi devices have Webview **Disabled** and no way to uninstall updates
Fix:
Uninstalling the latest updates from Google Chrome should stop apps from crashing on your device. Do note that if your data on Chrome isn’t synced with an account, you will lose all of it.
Just uninstall Chrome Updates.done
Good Luck
