Verizon
Thank you for contacting the Verizon Wireless Chat Team regarding your device. How can we help you today?
You
hi I chatted with somone earlier today and they said android pie was released to the note 9 yesterday. I downloaded the Verizon Samsung software update tool and there does not seem to be any such update

Hi Jay.
Verizon
I'm ahppy to help with reviewing the releases for the software update.
Verizon
I can certainly understand wanting to have the most recent software available. let me check to confirm the last update
Verizon
thanks for waiting.
You
np
Verizon
I do see the most recent software release is the PPR1.180610.011.N960USQU1CSB3 as of 02/27/2019
Verizon
when softawre updates are released, they are made avaialble for download in phases over the network. your phone will also release an alert once it is available for you to download.
You
why does that not appear on verizons website
Verizon
the software updates are listed as the become available. our website has a seprate page for device software and security updates as well.
Verizon
just a sec while I check if that shows the release. it may not have been updated as yet since this release has only just been confirmed in the last few days
Verizon
Thank you very much for your patience.
Well Damn. I know if you look at the fota site they are test CSB7 didnt see the other one. Thanks for the information.
http://fota-cloud-dn.ospserver.net/firmware/VZW/SM-N960U/version.test.xml
Interesting. That means the other carriers will be updating to CSB3 too.
If the Verizon rep was giving me accurate info-sometime they say anything to get you off! I just don't see any info with anyone getting the OTA you would think people would have already if it was pushed on the 27th
I would agree with that as well. Cant find anything online about it
I'm still on an old leak from November. Just been waiting on the full Odin drop for Verizon.
I haven't believed a word Verizon has ever said to me. and I've had them for 15 years now. Here it is March 1st... and Verizon still has this at their update site.
God, hope they don't go to some ridiculous version - I updated to CSAA a month ago, and I'm not looking forward to trying to get the right version on the phone.
So those of us who already did manually with firmware science will have to Odin back correct then proceed w new Ota? We wouldn't be able to just ota over correct? Sorry if a dumb question. Been out of the rooting and flashing game since note 4 days
I'm currently on CSAA from the side load. Question I have is if I want to downgrade back to Oreo, which post on the forum is the correct one to follow to downgrade so I can upgrade to the new OTA? It seem that the new Verizon OTA will not be the CSAA one...
I've read several posts but not sure which one to follow for Verizon.

Yeah, that's what its looking like. Just trying to find instructions on how to downgrade correctly back to ARL1 now. Ain't really found any instructions specifically for Verizon. I dont want to screw nothing up. I was thinking we'd get the update notification but I'm not so sure now with being on CSAA.
CSB3 is out on firmware.science for updating from ARL1

There's no separate directions for Verizon. It's the same device.
Download the most recent firmware with the SamFirm tool. Then flash it with ODIN.

There will be as soon as ATT and Sprint push CSB3. I'm waiting for that as well I see no reason to go through downgrading and upgrading.
here is the VZW L1 odin file for those who need it... Downloaded from Sammobile.

Just flash this in recovery:
Link for SS-N960USQU1CSAA-to-U1CSB3-UP.zip:

For all those on 1CSAA who want to upgrade to 1CSB3. you do NOT need to downgrade to ARL1. You can flash this file in Recovery, which will upgrade you to the official 1CSB3:
Link for SS-N960USQU1CSAA-to-U1CSB3-UP.zip:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid...89523397907204
MD5 825586ca0a4160fed4fdd111b85ec298
Download that file and place it on your SD Card. No need to rename it. Then flash it in Recovery. This will only work if you are currently on N960USQU1CSAA.
Thanks to @kevindevonwilliams for finding and providing the file!!

Unlocked AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S7 EDGE no update after 1st March 2017 Security Patch
Hi. I have an Unlocked At&t S7 Edge which haven't received any update after the 1st March 2017 Security Patch Update. When I check for software updates it says the phone is on the latest version of Android. I live outside US so does it affect that. I haven't been able to update to Oreo. Please Help
The Software details of the Phone are as follows:
Model number: SM-G935A
Android Version: 7.0
Baseband Version: G935AUCS4BQC2
Kernel Version: 3.18.31-10280464 [email protected] #1 Thu Mar 16 15:47:20 KST 2017
Build Number: NRD90M.G935AUCS4BQC2
Also can I somehow install the official Oreo update by Samsung using Samsumg Kies or something I really don't wanna get into Custom Roms or Recovery.
Any Help would pe Appreciated
You will never get OTA's on that firmware because you are outside the US (and not on an AT&T network). I don't know if you can get the firmware through SmartSwitch or not, as I converted my S7 Edge to the unlocked firmware ages ago.
Your best bet for updates the normal way is to convert your device to the US unlocked variant (935U) so that you get updates directly from Samsung. It's official firmware, but you will need an unofficial/patched version of Odin to load it. However, once you do, your phone will behave like an ordinary unlocked version in every way except the bootloader is still locked.

Thx a lot. I did it. Not without problems...:crying:
Test more than 5 different odin. Had boot loops ...:crying::crying:
Finally, I end up with the latest Oreo Firmware and now my phone is great and a lot faster. New phone! :highfive:
Ps The Odin that did it for me (the 20th time) was the patched (Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD)
Unlocked Oreo on the S7 Edge is incredible. It's actually better now than when it shipped with Marshmallow. Compared to AT&T Marshmallow (nevermind Nougat), it really is like getting a new phone. Which is why I would suggest that anyone with a carrier branded device switch unless they can't live without the extra features, such as WiFi calling. It's just that much better.

I looked for the s9+ also but like ya said its not there yet my guess its not on the s9 server yet or could be a different build number but I wouldn't figure
I would look up your build and android 9 is a 2GB size firmware look for the newest by month and date under the firmware you are on now

If u want to get pie, u have to get the ARI6 Odin files which are about 4GB. This is an Oreo file with September Patch. The subsequent update files on SamsungFirmwareScience is all you would need going forward after that to upgrade to Pie and other Patches if u choose to stay on Oreo. You just need to take a leap of faith and downgrade to ARI6 using the Patched Odin by Thomas or so 3.13.3

And I could just sideload the unlocked version of the ARI6 file? Like I wouldn't need carrier specific? According to SamMobile, there's no ARI6 for the Sprint (cdma) it only goes up go ARI4

All Samsung firmware are not carrier specific. Now how your phone works with the firmware is totally unknown to me. Sprint is weird since it's a cdma network. If u were on a GSM network i would have said it's as easy as pie. But to answer your question yes, it's simple as pie to just download Odin and ari6, put your phone in download mode, load the files to Odin (if u want to retain your sprint software use HOME_CSC rather than CSC) then run the update files from there using adb sideload from the recovery menu

The BETA is only available for N960U1 models. If you have the T-Mobile branded Note 9, then you have a N960U.
A way around that is to use ODIN to flash the N960U1 firmware. Then the beta should be available to you.
I currently have an ATT N960U, running the N960U1 firmware, on T-Mobile and I got the beta notification earlier today and signed up.
Even if you don't get into the beta program. You can still get the beta OTAs from firmware.science. You'll still need to ODIN the U1 firmware, of course.
My Samsung+ is white background and is not offering me the beta. Unlocked device bought straight from Samsung / Verizon SIM.
Edit: Install the beta Samsung+ apk from here https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsu...msung-11-2-3-0-android-apk-download/download/ and then it will offer it to you

No. This is NOT for U firmware. And it's not even for ARJ7. You need to use ODIN to flash the ARJ9 build for the U1. N960U1SQU1AEJ9. Then either sign up for the beta through the Samsung+ app, or download the update from firmware.science.
Also it doesn't matter if you're carrier locked or not. And yes U1 will work just fine with ATT, but you'll lose WiFo calling and VoLTE.

There's a whole thread full of feedback already.

I was able to get AT&T wifi calling and volte, messages sync, etc. working in my AT&T N960U on U1 firmware by simply flashing the ATT ARJ7 CSC. The only issue here is that you will lose software updates on the device, they will all need to be downloaded and flashed manually in recovery as an OTA update zip.

Like you said it breaks updates, and it would probably jack up the beta as well.
If I open Spotify (or Amazon music) and start playing music and then put the phone down, when I pick it up and try turning the screen back on it doesn't work, just restarts. Even if I don't press the power button and just turn it on with the lift to wake feature the same thing happens. The Iris scanner light turns on and off a few times like it's trying to work normally but doesn't actually. I sent in the system logs with the Samsung members app, any ideas how to fix it?*
I'm on the newest pie beta on the Unlocked us version.
Turning off lift to wake doesn't help.
What did they do Location options ?
In Oreo or prior one could use just the device GPS for location accuracy. I think that option is no longer available? It appears to be just either On or Off. Nothing in between.

Still didn't offer it. I probably need to use Odin to flash the U1 first, right?

Hi,
I'm interested in the US unlocked U1 version, direct from Samsung Beta update.
Not interested in all the other rooted and/or country versions.
I got the beta downloaded but not installing till I hear from users first,
Thanks again,
Ken

The 160+ page thread called "Note 9 Pie Alpha/Beta."
If you want the U1 firmware beta straight from Samsung, then you need to be on ARJ9 for the U1. Then sign up for the beta through the Samsung+ app.

Of course you do. You have to be on ARJ9 for the U1 before you can get the beta. It's only for U.
Anyone try the firmware science CSB3 if you were running CSAA?
Mustang reported on Android Central forum that it doesnt work if you are already on CSAA. You have to be on ARL1 to go to CSB3 right now... they'll probably have a CSAA to CSB3 before too long.
I'm still contemplating going back to ARL1. Just trying to find good instructions on doing that for VZW.

Dude, its listed literally 4 posts up from yours. Look back and you'll find it.
Thanks for the link!
I was able to download CSB3 and update from CSAA but I noticed my phone still says 'Software updated to N960USQu1ARL1' under the Software update section. Maybe it isn't going to change for now and the next time there's an actual update it will work through the normal process, but it isn't a huge deal because I can always manually download the OTA updates and flash them. Does anyone's phone say 'Software updated to N960USQU1CSB3' that went through the update from CSAA to CSB3?
I know I can odin back to ARL1 and then update my phone through the normal process, but I'm being lazy and don't want to re-do everything (back in the day I didn't care about that stuff and would start over clean all the time). I guess this is the price I pay for installing Android Pie on my device before VZW released it. I'm ok with it.
Hello, simple question: I've converted my N960W running Android 9 into a N960U1 running Android 10.
I've read somewhere that Samsung can somehow detect when you flash a firmware from a different model, and blocks OTA updates. Is it true?

Thanks Trex for the answer. Not what I was hoping for but yeah... flashing with Odin doesn't take that long anyway

I've switched back and fort and never had an issue getting OTA. It's weird that some folks are affected that way and others are not.
Honestly N960W is almost similar to stock android, you get stock caller ID & block, Samsung cloud, and security features which are not available in carrier roms, All of carrier rom comes with bloatwares on them as well.
---------- Post added at 07:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:17 PM ----------
If you are okay with Andriod 10 thats fine as you won't be getting any more android update on note 9, so its totally fine even if you not getting any OTA updates

Unfortunately, the stock Videotron "w" rom my phone comes with has some carrier crap (un-deleteable bookmarks and apps mostly, related to different media companies/newspapers belonging to Videotron's owner like an app called J5, Journal de Montreal/Quebec bookmarks, etc.)
The U1 ROM is 100% clean

No just download the latest U1 rom and flash it with the patched version of Odin here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/patched-odin-3-13-1-t3762572
That will factory reset your device though so backup your stuff first
And to answer the question I've asked in this thread, I've received the February OTA update a few days ago

Great! Thanks for your help.
Is it better to use HOME_CSC_ or CSC_ when going from 960W to U1?
