Weird restarting every now and again after root and also weird behaviour - Moto E5 Questions & Answers

Ever since I rooted my E5, It has been restarting every few hours, or sometimes even every few minutes. The thing is, it's not a normal restart. It is much quicker, just shows a boot animation and suddenly I'm back after a few seconds. Almost as if I just locked my phone for a while. If I manually restart, it takes longer and after a minute or two it'll do the quick restart. Every time this happens, at my lock screen im asked to put in my pin instead of fingerprint to unlock fingerprint even though just a few seconds ago I used fingerprint to unlock.

I had same problem but with different phone.
So the only way is to buy a new one.

Have you tried other roms? Are you stock and just using magisk, Do you have a theme engine like Substratum. Give us more info

[Q] Xperia Z1 stuck on black screen on start

So my brand new 24 hour old Xperia Z1 will not start and only goes to a blank screen with the backlight on. It does show the SONY splash screen before this for a second.
The only way to shut it down is to do an up volume and on button combo or to hit the red reset button.
I've tried starting with the SIM and SD Card out but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
The phone has pretty much not been used at all so I am a bit shocked. Is there any thing I can try? It was working last night.
24 hours out of the box, just send it back for a new one.
even if its starts working again, for a £600 device I would just send it back and say you are not happy and want a new one

I went off and left it for about 10 minutes and it did finally restart. I suppose there is some sort of software conflict issue going on.
I did a factory wipe and it runs like lightning now. No idea which app is causing the conflict.

This is one of the fastest phones on the market and this shouldn't be happening. After I did my restore I set up again and synched and auto-updated apps and I had the same problem. I then tried deleting all of my uploaded apps one by one until they were all gone but this didn't help and the boot times were still about 5 minutes, often with the phone booting without remembering the brightness setting or even not booting at all.
So I did a factory reset again but this time did not account synch on setup or auto update apps and that seems to have fixed it for me. The phone is very fast and boots in under 30 seconds now, and runs without any lag whatsoever. I wish I could identify specifically what the issue is but so far no luck.

Rooted OC7 S4 Active Crashes when failing lock screen pattern

We have a rooted Galaxy S4 Active and its been having some strange issues that I can't figure out.
The phone was recently ( a few weeks ago) wiped completely and flashed to NE3 via odin, then updated following the how-to to OC7.
Everything was fine for a while, and outside of a few default apps on the phone getting updates, no extra software has been installed. But within the last few days, the phone has been freezing/lagging on the lock screen. Its set up to use a pattern lock. If you fail the pattern, the phone sometimes will hang for a really long time before clearing the pattern and allowing you to reenter it. Even after entering the right pattern, the phone still hangs for a bit before actually unlocking. But after this period of time is over, the phone behaves fine, even on the lock screen. It feels like the phone is getting hung up on some process for a time, and then after it recovers everything runs fine. This doesn't seem to happen unless the lock screen is up, however, so seems suspect.
Anyway any ideas?
Hello, check the reply on my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-active/help/root-active-s4-i537ucucoc6-t3240300
I'm not sure that helps? The phone is already rooted and running OC7.
The problem is that some of the system settings menus and the lock screen tend to lag a good bit. Sometimes if you enter the wrong pattern in the lock, it will just stay frozen for some time before you can attempt again, other times if you are in the settings menu it will lag between setting screens.

First try clearing cache and dalvik, this can be done with flashfire or in stock recovery. If that doesn't help, try flashing Galaxy Mod and see if that improves anything. Finally, are you on stock OC7, or deodexed OC7? Maybe you ought to try the other

Rooted Samsung S8 stuck on lock sreen

So it's been about two months with my rooted Samsung s8 G950U model but strange things have been occouring like "Ok Google" not working but I didn't think much of it and then it hit me, the phone won't accept my pattern gesture instead it just vibrates then vibrates again after ~ 15 seconds so I made a theory that SuperSu bugged out and is blocking permission for this system process, now If I constantly try to unlock the phone it reboots which also makes me think SuperSu blocked more than I thought.
So this begs the question, is there a possibility that it can be unlocked? And if the only option is to format the phone is it 100% safe to as the internet isn't clear on this.
Update: After giving up hope I'd get no help I went and did some research, flashed the stock rom onto it and works good as new, about time this phone didn't become the reality of a paper weigh

December update scared me to death (Freeze, long boot)

I'm just putting this here to hopefully help someone else not lose their mind after a bad December update. I just got my OTA for my 4XL on VZW about 40 minutes ago. MY PHONE JUST BOOTED.
After applying the update and the phone restarting, per usual, I noticed the lock screen was super sluggish and intermittently not responsive. More concerning still, it said my PIN was invalid, which I KNOW it wasn't. So.... I rebooted. Just held power for a second, and clicked Restart in the menu. That may have been where I went wrong. For the next 25 or so minutes, I had nothing but a black screen. No sounds, no vibrations, nothing registered when plugging into my PC. Even holding the power key for 30+ seconds or attempting safe mode or bootloader did not work.
In retrospect, I am now considering that even though the phone initially rebooted and was at the lock screen, Android may still have been in the process of updating which could cause the slow down and maybe even the invalid pin. Mostly, I think that may be what happened when I rebooted the phone, I basically did it in the middle of it finalizing the update which very well could have caused all sorts of issues.
TLDR: I don't think I did anything to fix it, I gave up after 1000 times of trying and set it down, then about 5 minutes later (off the charger) it just started booting up. So don't throw your phone at the wall if it doesn't turn on right away after the update.

I am not rooted. Gave up my rooting back when it made Google pay and Pokemon Go a complete ***** to use, even with magisk. So I've left this stock out of the box.

Hey got the same issue as you. Either it's stuck on a black screen (adb works), either it hangs on Applying update when starting the phone. Can't seem to get past this crap... I'm trying with a patched magisk image btw, not sure if it's the issue, I already applied the magisk adb commande in order to remove the magisk modules but to no avail.

XZ2c freezes with LOS 19.1

Hello, I have the following problem:
I own a Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact with Lineageos 19.1 from 11/19/2022. Magisk 25.2 is up to date.
Yesterday I switched it off normally and this morning it froze after a short time after booting.
Repeatedly rebooting with Vol. up and Power always resulted in the same problem.
In safe mode it runs for hours without crashing.
Even before I enter the pattern to unlock for the first time, nothing crashes, it only takes about half a minute after unlocking until no more input is accepted, although the seconds on the clock continue to run. After a minute the phone then reboots and everything starts all over again.
Does anyone have any idea how to get the phone working normally again, I'd like to avoid reinstalling if possible because I've made a lot of modifications but they worked fine until yesterday. As I said, the problem appeared overnight.
Is there a way to confirm the apps individually when they start to identify a possible source of interference?
Thanks very much!
Warm greetings
BAZ
