Since the update to Pie my incar BT continues to ring after answering. I have since cleared cache and also complete factory reset and still not fixed. Any help is appreciated.
What car do you have ? I can suggest you a temporary fix, check if it works
1) Uninstall Android Auto app from your phone
2) Go to Settings -> Connections -> Bluetooth -> Tap the 3 dots and select Advanced -> Toggle off "Ringtone Sync" option
3) Reinstall Android Auto app

The headunit is Alpine X208U. I'll try the fix you mentioned and see. It was working fine before updating. Pie definitely has a few issues needing addressed.
Thanks for the help.

Some correction, Samsung uses and app called Car Mode and not Android Auto. So app itself is made by Samsung aswell, while android auto app is by Google.

It's probably not any app like Car Mode. I have the same problem, not with my car but with my smartwatch. It keeps vibrating because of incoming call, even when I answer the call on my phone. Phone is note 9 with Pie.

No luck with the fix mentioned. I guess I'll wait for an update.

This is one of the number one issues lately over at the AA community... Happening to Pixels, S9s, too. No resolution that Google has announced.

Seems it's happening with Android Auto, or just using bluetooth.

For me a workaround was to make sure the app I want notifications from is running, then press the recents button and find the app on the list, then swipe the app down, it will only move a little way then spring back and also obtains a small padlock icon.
You will probably also need to go to the settings menu and find either protected apps or app settings (depends if you are using the Lollipop version or the Marshmallow beta) and enable the setting for the app which makes it stay awake when the phone sleeps.
Thanks so so much. I try this out
You have tomark the app to run in background...
this is no bug it is an energy saving feature.
the device has a stock white list of apps allowed to run in background.
but normally you re asked if an app should be able to run in background or not.
any app that is not allowed to will be closed immediately in standby

I've tried all of the above and still was missing viber notifications. Then I disabled Phone Manager and this sorted out the problem completely.

At first try to add these apps to all possible whitelists of Huawei power management apps. It should not be cleaned by RAM manager and should be left not closed when screen is off. It helped here.

I put greenify in protected app and for now is ON in accessibility. Last 2 day working ok.

Thanks but in protected app I don't have the apk, only a list of installed applications
Yet another EMUI "feature". Hating when it happens to me as well, though I do have mixed luck with whitelisting the apk in question (where ever you can - why the hell do we have both the battery keep-running-with-screen-off feature, and the "ignore optimizations" crap? And what does this even do?).

Same here with Roboform password manager on Mate 9 with EMUI 5.0 . All system settings give it permission and exemption from optimization. But accessibility is turned off after a very short time of the phone screen being off. There has to be something strange going on.

Strange this has not been fixed.
IMHO Huawei or EMUI should let us manage the system whitelisted apps..
It is obvious that the phone administrator is not enough to ensure we can leave opened on background 100% sure some apps... My telegram app from time to time also appears stopped.. Mmmm "strange" but easy to solve for huawei's developers if they were interested in
So strange^2

Actually I have found that it is a feature not a fault. I rang up Huawei to ask for help.
What you need to do is go into Settings (swipe down from top, then cog wheel) > Battery > Close apps after screen lock
Then scroll down to your 'problem' app, and switch to off.
You might be surprised at the apps that have managed to get themselves set to off. I certainly was.

Even having setup properly battery optimisation to be ommited, keep open when close and whitelist on clean up sometimes telegram gets close... We all (or most of us) know.about that options to be setup but Huawei maintains a "hidden" apps whitelist like Google apps that are permitted to be run on background ... We know is not a big and we want to have full control of which apps.to permit 100% of time not decided by Emui. That's the point.

Hi,
As I'm going to move from carplay to android auto in a few weeks I'd like to ask every user with an android auto compatible headunit a simple.. maybe silly.. question
When connecting my iphone to the car headunit, it automatically switches to the carplay source and displays carplay. This for every maker video I've found, Pioneer, Kenwood.. the behaviour is Connect the phone->switches to carplay automatically.
The question is.. does Android auto do the same? In every video I saw the phone when connected displays a screen like "touch android auto icon on your headunit to start android auto". I'm starting to think that by design android auto wants you to manually select it from the headunit screen... :|
Would someone tell me if there's a setting in the app? Or share his/hers experience?
I'd like to know expecially how it works on anything not from Pioneer (Sony, Kenwood or manufacturer specific like Seat, Honda).. Is there a way to switch automatically to android auto on connection, like carplay does?
From my experience, my phone automatically opens and uses Android Auto when I plug it in. Only exception was the first time it connected, as I had to allow it permissions on the phone.

I found an interesting option in the developer settings, you can enable video focus on startup, the result of this setting is that the screen on my skoda columbus headunit is switch automatically to android auto. Without the setting I have to go via the menu to see this screen.

Is there also any kind of command (ADB, Tasker...) to request video focus on Android Auto?
A similar question:
Isn't any way to auto start screen2auto? I see that android auto can start in sygic automatically. If i rename internally screen2auto, to same name as sygic, and Uninstall sygic, is there any possibility to work, and auto start in screen2auto instead of sygic?

I use Screen2Auto on an unrooted phone which only seems to work on AA 6.4 or earlier.
Some people have commented that they are being forced to update AA to 6.5.
I had a notification that said something about a required update to AA. I tried to read it but it just took me to the AA update page in the PlayStore.
Are some people being forced to update AA?

I was forced to update now I'm trying to find a workaround.
Yes.
Do not proceed, un-install the latest update of Google Play Services.
If already installed the AA update, so remove the update of play services and re-install the old version of AA from April.
All good.
I uninstalled the latest update of Google Play Services and rolled back Android Auto to version 6.3, but Android Auto will not work unless you hit the update button.
it's not that I'm sitting here wearing a tin foil hat or anything.. but I think we should discuss workaround methods in private messages. Google obviously has some form of eyes watching these forums because everytime a workaround is discussed it magically gets patched not soon after.

I also have a non-root Galaxy S7 (G930V) on Android 8. Uninstalled AA last year as I've been screen mirroring using USB to my BMW MMI (no touch screen). If I now install AA (6.5 from Play Store), then I won't be able to install S2A with AAAD at this point? Should I try to find and load AA 6.4 and attempt the S2A install or wait to see if they'll be an update to S2A and AAAD that works with AA 6.5?

One question about this: does it download app data afterwards during your drive?
Additional question: can you also clear data and cache after being connected to Android Auto? I would prefer a Tasker task to do this for me. The idea is to clear data and cache as soon as I get connected to Android Auto.

Is your tinfoil hat borken? If so, just use the AM/FM radio or cassette player. If you want "free" from Google, you have to pay. Seriously, they make money by trying to target advertising at you.
What do you want to say me?
Tasker is an app which can automize things. For example it can automize the clearing of cache and data.
I wanted to clear data and cache automated so that I don't have to do all the clicks by myself.
I just want to know if I have to program the task to clear data and cache every day or everytime I connect to Android Auto...

this is known Google's issue, you need to reach out to Google.
try below steps:
settings > apps > three dots > special access > disable Google
settings > google (google services) > personal safety > disable silence notification while driving
this should turn it off

Unfortunately, this doesn't work.
You turn it off here, in Google Assistant, in DND settings, delete it from DND settings and it still comes back and self-activates.
I even did the Android 12 software update and still the issue persists.
The only approach I haven't tried yet is to disable DND permissions for Google. Hopefully this will do it.

In case anyone is interested, this worked.
Remove the DND permissions for Google, the issue stopped immediately. Obviously, it also means that Google can't put the phone into DND mode so if that's important to you then you may want to try to find another solution...which there isn't.
