hello everybody , So, i bought this XZ2 a while ago on some one that labelled it as "Slightly used" and been using it for a while now and its been working okay apart from the fact that it randomly overheats some times . I think the phone is refurbished.
The other Big issue is that ive been stock on the same software version since i got it wich is : 51.1.A.2.213. The update manager finds an update wich is : 51.1.A.3.159 and downloads it normally but then faills installation at 99% and tried again maaany times always the same. i also tried with Xperia companion and its the same
So is there any sollution to the problem , i note that i dont have much knowledge on software and i dont want to accidentally brick the phone

If you have the original packet with the phone name you see the hardware revision somewhere.
At least revision 2 is okay.
Revision 1 was not available for sold.
You can use xperifirm to download the latest firmware and newflasher v13 to flash the phone in download mode.
You'll find the download mode manual in the TWRP thread.
Feel free to flash the phone country you want but maybe a different firmware needs a full wipe.
And what's important, remove the userdata.sin if you don't want to full wipe the phone.
But a full wipe may fix your bugs.

Thanks a lot for the answer. no risk to brick the phone if i do a mistake or something goes wrong ? i want to update the phone to Pie should i look directly for the Pie update ?
and i also read that it was possible to fix it by using the "repair" Function on Xperia companion which way should i go for ?
Of course you can try the repair function.
About the brick.
The worst thing happen is that you need a full wipe to fix a bootloop.
But btw I recommend a fullwipe after pie upgrade in your case and Everytime if you switch an entire Android version
Maybe your phones bootloader have been unlocked.
Then it will fail on OTA and also in Xperia companion.
You can se the status if you put this in the dailer *#*#7378423#*#*

Hello,
my phone's build.prop sais:
...
ro.build.target_operator=TMO
ro.build.target_country=DE
ro.lge.swversion=LG-P880-V10h-NOV-19-2012
I bought the phone from a store in Greece and not from an Operator and i use it with Greek Op... When I bought it, about a month ago I did an OTA update to the version 10h...
My questions are:
1) Is it safe to do a manual update with an Euro Open Version or a Greek Version for v20a or i'll have to stay with TMO (which i think it means T-Mobile)?
2) Will that change the operator in my phone and what other changes are made (except from the s/w version changes. for ex does it change the target_country?)?
3) From the store i bought it they said that I have full waranty from LG Hellas for 2 years. If I can and do the update to the Euro Open or Greek V. will I loose the waranty?
4) If I can do the manual update can you provide me a link with the steps to do it?
Thank you very much!
anyone??? please i feel so idiot that i cannot update it!
go to this link, it will open white page, in adress bar after "=" sign at the end just put your IMEI number and hit enter, copy info WITHOUT you phone IMEI and paste here
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=
Regarding your questions:
1. It is safe like you do this with ota or lg tool, every flash have risks
2. No change
3. Yes, and no, if your currently phone software is online aka http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=15 and you can download it and flash it then you have no worry about warranty, but if isn't and if you flash v20, and in the meanwhile you need to use your warranty..then you cant go back to latest stock software for you phone and maybe you have problems than..because you cant use recovery phone in lg tools for reverting to stock for two reason: Obviously there isn't jet JB for your region otherwise you would not post these questions, and second if you update manually to v20 only way to reverse to stock is to use different method (downgrading) also included in link above(problem if you dont have matching v10h software if you have some branding apps included). Or you can wait official JB for your phone's region. So check that you can download from internet your currently stock software.
4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36676469&postcount=1 look here for methods, i use it all including LGFlash tool (this method is not in the list) and never had problems..

1) Software-wise it is safe. It is also possible to go back to LG-P880-V10h-NOV-19-2012 if you want to later.
2) It won't change your operator. Also, your phone should remain linked to Greece (or perhaps Germany as that's in your build.prop) and T-Mobile by IMEI.
3) I don't know whether the T-Mobile version has additional software installed, but it seems likely. They should be able to tell that that software is missing. If you don't have any specific T-Mobile software on the phone they probably cannot tell the difference after you go back to LG-P880-V10h-NOV-19-2012. Of course you can be smart about it and make a CWM-backup + Titanium Backup of ALL your apps so you can restore everything after reinstalling LG-P880-V10h-NOV-19-2012. In that case they cannot tell the difference. Note: You need to then also remove CWM and root after the restore before you send it in for repairs.
4) I preferred this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723.
thank you both!!! very much!!!!

Fortunately, the rom he has is standard, so he just needs to worry about potential extra apps. Root+Titanium backup should cover that, as he can reflash->root->restore all apps+data with Titanium Backup->remove root.
Agree!
Good day, I have a problem with my android and firmware update. I have seen some blogs about xperiaV posting that they already have JB 4.3 update and the latest version of firmware 9.2.a.2.5.. I am wondering how they update it 'cause when i connect my phone to Pc and run the PC Companion, i check the update and it says my phone/tablet is up to date, but the android version of my phone was still 4.1.2 and the firmware version is 9.1.a.1.140.. I don't understand what is the problem of my phone or at my PC Companion Software. I tried also connecting my phone to internet and check for update and still it says my system is up to date. My main concern why i wanted to update my phone, it is because my phone is now dead signal as in no signal (by the way i'm form the Philippines using Smart Communication Network postpaid) I've already switching the network from GSM only and to other choices provided but still no signal. I tried switching my Airplane mode and it displays an airplane icon on the signal area (I think airplane mode is working well, never tried using is). I've read some blogs also that you need to root your phone and flash the firmware and so on to update the android version, but i think its just changing the room, not really updating the system. I don't want to do that 'cause my phone might turn into bootloap 'cause i don't have much knowledge on doing that. I've read also some blogs stating that there is a bug or network issue on version 4.1.2. So i am looking forward from anybody here in the forum who can help or teach me what to do to update my android and firmware version.
I am not sure of it useful to 'upgrade" the phone to solve a problem - this problem of yours. If I were you I'd use the repair my phone option in PC-Companion first, and then see what happens with the phone signal.
You can simly flash any ftf file for your phone with flashtool. Not the sony one. You don't need root access for it
#Mr. Peter-K I've tried it already just a minute ago and still no use. Related to the blogs that i have read regarding on the 4.1.2 version network bug. there problem has been solve after updating the version of there android.
#Mr. Jimmy i'm new here, i hve knowledge on doing flash but i dont have any idea what file to download so that i can update the version of my android to 4.3 and the firmware also. I would like to ask you help if its ok for you,.

Download 9.2.A.2.5 unbranded coming from Singapore or HongKong (since you're from Asia) and follow the instructions to flash.

You can jump straight to 9.2.A.2.5
It's important that you wipe all your data... and Flashtool will do it for you automatically if you don't change anything just before flashing

I actually don't know how sim-unlocking works.
Have you ever asked to your network? Usually they give you a code after having paid a little fine.

Back to my thread.still my phone signal is not working. i just found out w while ago that if i am in the higher place like 2nd floor of the building, i got a 2g network and my phone signal is working. but if i'm already at the ground floor the signal is not working. is it ok if i am going to do open line on my so that it will receive any type of network or is it really the software problem of my phone causing the signal not working??
Hi,
Im trying to restore Xperia Z1 original firmware (that can get updates from Sony) and I cant seem to succeed...
I have used flashtool but the software is just not right:
I can't use Wi-Fi, the sim is not working anymore (Im from Israel), everytime the phone get shut down - it asks me in what language do I want to use...
`I have tried using PC companion (Repair) also` but it tells me that my phone doesnt have an update.
I dont know what to do anymore
any advice?
Just download a rom for your model z1 and use, 'Flashtool' to flash the image.

I did that.
The IMEI is gone. Nothing seems to work ...
its probably because the flash version is not compatible with the baseband. Try flashing an older version (for eg. .108 version : u can get it from mega ftf thread in general section) and then after the flash, pc companion should detect and install the latest update.
I just got brand new Xperia X Performance that came with 6.0.1, and I'm trying to figure out why I can update it. It's unlocked but not rooted, basically right from the factory as far as I know.
When I go into Software Update in the phone's settings, it says "Your device already has the latest available system updates."
When I use the Sony app on my PC it says my system software is up to date.
I actually can't find anything about this issue, anybody here have any ideas?
Thanks!
try downloading and running xperifirm, find out if your region has the update at all, you should be able to update atleast to 7 anyway
There are a few variants that are considered as internal units or something like that and they don't get OTA updates, also HK units were stuck on 7 for some reason last time I checked. Mine is a french model, and yesterday I received the april security patches while the global variant got it two months ago

Here's a screenshot of Xperiafirm. https://ibb.co/dUCN3T
I'm in Canada, though I'm on Freedom Mobile, not Rogers or Bell. I don't think my carrier ever sold this phone, and I'm not sure what would happen if I flashed 8.0 made for Bell or Rogers phones.
Ideally I'd like 7.1.1 Canadian generic for Xperia X Performance, but I can't seem to find that anywhere.
I've also never done this so I don't really know what I'm doing, and don't want to void my warranty!
Thanks for you help!!
Good the ROMs that you see for Canada are all latest 8.0 with May security patches and maybe your phone is one of these and the updates just got stucked for some reason.
First you have to check what kind of model you have to check this, to do so you should open the dialler and type
*#*#7378423#*#*
From the service menu you should select -> Service Info -> Software Info and look for Customization Version:
As I said mine is a french model so it states 1302-9342_R2E your should be something different but only the first 8 numbers matter
then look this number in Xperifirm if yours is everything different from Internal Unit (second column from the screenshot) then there is a easy way to try and update without loosing your warranty
First there is always a risk! But I have done this a few times for my Xperia U and Xperia M5 and had no problems at all.
Do a backup - contacts...everything you need as it will delete them
charge the phone to at least 80%
then you should go to the Xperia Companion and do a software repair, not update but repair
It should install the latest version for your phone but it shows the version it installed only when it's finished...
Even if it has not installed the latest update then just connect the phone to your wifi/LTE and try the OTA updates again (could take up to an hour)
This is the safest way that will not void your warranty in any way but will delete your info (contacts, pics..etc. ) so do a backup prior
And if possible use a laptop with a working battery as even a 1 second glitch in the grid could cause the phone to get bricked
And if your phone is imported from China and the customization number is considered as an Internal Unit the only way you could get 7.0 or 8.0 is by flashing and another ftf file as the ones for Bell Canada or Rogers, there are actually some ROMs uploaded in XperiaBlog
there could be some in XDA but I have not search for any

Thanks so much for the reply...I discovered the version of Android installed on my phone is a version meant for Journalists/Reviewers/Commercial use, and can not be updated. I just got a refund for the 3-year warranty portion of my purchase after pointing this out to them. So after the 90 day warranty that came with it runs out, I'll be able to do anything I feel like with this device.
I'll be looking for a safe way to install 7.1.1 hopefully, and if not then 8.0. There seem to be less issues with 7.1.1, but there's really only one way to find out: when I start using it.
I'll definitely need a point in the right direction when it comes to that though. I understand Sony has an official flashing tool, and you have to unlock the bootloader (which is supported on my phone even with this version). But I haven't done it before and don't know how.
MY skill with Android flashing: 3/10
Phone Problem: Boots to the very first screen with the phone model and then turns off itself, vibrates, and relaunches..... (repeat repeat). It did use to reach the Samsung screen before my (what I thought was) successful FW flash!
Hey, so im having a mare trying to flash some firmware on my friends Note 8 using Odin3 and pretty much guessing at firmware to fix this phone. I downloaded the latest version that seems to be available.
The phone Model number is not known exactly but its a single sim, UK spec (Carrier: 02) so am assuming it is the SM-N950F
Im slowly downloading fw files to try and get this phone to reboot - but no such luck! is there anyone with enough patience to try and help me install the "correct" firmwares?
I tried with my first attempt and it fails in odin with a message: SW Check boot loader 14 binary 13 (or something along those lines - which I tried a search for here in the forums and was something to do with the compatibility of the bl and fw not being correct)
My second attempt was a success through Odin (Cleared and Pass!) but now it only gets to the very first screen and reboot loops straight away without getting to the Samsung screen.... so not really a success my end!
Can anyone help a Android noob?
Not looking to keep any data what so ever Just want a full factory reset.
Phone last worked properly on 23/24th December last year and my friend hasn't bothered with it since when it bricked.

Hey bro I am not a pro either at this but doing this since quite a time now,
Your first attempt failed because you tried to install an older version of android whereas your device had a newer version installed previously....SAMSUCK does not allows you to downgrade your android model...
Your second attempt resulted in a bootloop , I will suggest you to reboot the phone into recovery and format it once, it might work.....

Wipe data/factory reset
reboot system now
still stuck in boot loop (1st power on screen)

It should boot after flashing that, it could be a hardware problem preventing a successful boot :-( Probably worth trying different filmware though, you could try BTU (UK) or XEU (UK & Ireland)
Bro i will advice you to just get over this stock rom and install some custom rom.
You can install a custom recovery like twrp through odin and then using that recovery install some custom rom made for your device.
All these you might find in your device's xda forum.
Brp i just checked and found that galaxy note 8 has plethora of custom roms available just install the one which you like.
You can see the installation process on youtube.
