Flashing 9.0 Pie from a different country without changing CSC possible? - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Questions and Answers

So my phone is an XFA model. I want to flash the XFE version to get Android 9.0. Both are under OXM mutli CSC.
If I flash the XFE firmware with Pie but I flash "CSC" instead of "HOME_CSC", will I retain my XFA CSC and avoid confusing apps like Samsung Pay I'm in a different country and I lose functionally?
So basically, will flashing firmware (XFE) that's ahead of my current firmware (XFA) not change my default CSC (XFA) if it's in the same multi CSC (OXM)?
Edit: Just tried it and it works. As long as the firmware is under the OXM multi CSC, you won't lose your current CSC. I flashed HOME_CSC so I don't lose anything and it worked.

So I can just use HOME_CSC without any problems?

So when we flash HOME_CSC, the CSC will be changed ? Is hard reset an obligation ?

Home-CSC will Not delete data. Since you're on multi OXM csc
Your sim card will set your csc. So it won't change!
CSC file will delete data!

No, csc won't change since your csc is in the Multi-CSC OXM.
Only way for it to change if your csc is NOT supported by OXM.
Reset is upto you. If you get force closures and system ui errors and programs not working correctly you can either do go to recovery mode and do a clear cache. If that doesn't work factory reset.

Great thanks for your help

Just a last question to be shure to don't brick my phone :
Actually I'm on Android 8 with my CSC N950FOXM5CRK1
Could I flash Android 9 UK CSC N950FOXM5DSB2 ?
If yes, did I just flash the HOME_CSC ?

Yes just use the Home-CSC and you'll be fine but if any system or app errors try clearing cache first if not factory reset.
Backup first!

Ok thanks !

After Flash Can't access to system csc ordner/Pcode not Active-how to activate it?

Hi @ll
Yesterday I had 4.0.4 DBT Stock rom installed by " OTA". Kies show mit instead DBT three XXX and didnt support my Galaxy Note!?!
According to type of Service code *2767*4387264636# shows me:
1.SMS=off
2.Pcode not activ
3.Prod
Whats wrong? Today I go back to Gingerbreath with CODE_N7000XXLC1_CL1003701_REV02_user_low_ship.tar and Pit.
Kies support now my phone and will give update, but Pcode is still not active.
How can I activate it?
Thanks for help, I search long time for solution but never find.
EDIT: After flash with odin, all fine only I see at last this suspect info: Can't access to system csc ordner. (in yellow) I think that is the reason why pcode is not activ? So what can I make? Is efs folder damaged? My Imei is still activ, and same as under accu.
may be that OTA u installed is not released in kies or ur mite not meet the criteria ( PDA/CSC)

may be flash the latest DBT version of ics using pc odin

I mean I have installed with "OTA" = Over the air with Samsung Note's internal software update about WLAN.
yes i know.. OTA comes before Kies version is released and till its released the kies will say the same message

Thank you for answer, same problem via kies or ota too.
My real problem is, so I think, that new flashed firmware hav'nt access, after reboot, to system csc ordner, further that is the reason why Pcode is'nt activ.
But what can I make? - That FW have access to CSC, and that Pcode are activ?

[Q] for 4.1.2 root, what is the difference between build no.?

Hi,
I want to root my device, which i have upgraded recently to 4.1.2
the thing is, I found some information in root threads regarding build no. like XXAMA1, XXAMA2, XXAMA4 ...etc
what are the differences between them? if all of them are 4.1.2 JB?! will anyone work?
to make it easier, which thread can work to root my SG3mini device:
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version: I8190XXAMA3
Kernel version: 3.0.31-860525
Build number: JZ054K.I8190XXAMA3
You can just root the one you got. No need to re-flash the whole rom.
---------- Post added at 10:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:39 PM ----------
Here is also a very good explanation on these PDA/PHONE/CSC codes.

Yes you can, but only if you make a factory reset first. Otherwise you'll have bootloops or force closed apps.

No it shouldn't be any problem. Factory reset makes sure there is no leftovers from previous install. Clears cache, settings, user data.

Just flash a wipe.tar and then your firmware.
I never had to flash param.lfs to get it boot.
Once I had to pull the battery and power on again when it got stuck on boot after flash.

Yes flash as pda. It's basicly the same as a factory reset.
If your phone reboots after, just put it in download again and flash firmware.

Afaik the param.lfs is mostly just a bunch of pictures. Don't know what it does, except loads the phone with startup/downloadmode pictures.

thank you tys0n for your replies! i kept my CSC, didn't change it.. since i'm already having 4.1.2 (last firmware for s3 mini till now)
and followed this way to root my device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150979
and it worked
the only thing is, this way increased the flash counter! i dont know how is this bad, but i guess just if i want to give it to someone to check it, they will know, right?!
BUT I found other rooted ROM that they will reset binary count after flash to "none"! and will show firmware as "official" instead of "custom"..
anyway, good to learn and i'm saying all that just in case any noob like me saw this thread in the future maybe they can find one useful info or two
sorry TerenceTP7 that i can't help you.. still new to those things..
and thank you again tys0n
Sv: [Q] for 4.1.2 root, what is the difference between build no.?
Search triangle away here on xda. It's an app that will reset your binary count to zero

I can't flash custom ROMs to my AT&T nexus 6??

I've tried multiple times to flash cyanogenmod 12 to my nexus, but it fails every time. I'm running with TWRP custom recovery, and have tried Flashify as well . I have also tried to do it using my Mac (hate rains down) but to no avail. Am I doing something wrong? Or does it have to do with it being carrier locked? Please help.

why would it have anything to do with it being carrier locked??? my guess is that you are doing something wrong. ok, you want to download the whole rom to your phone, and gapps. then boot into your recovery, where you want the wipe menu. chose advanced , then wipe your system and user data. dont wipe anything else, you do not want to wipe your storage. nownow, go back to the main menu, and chose to instal. now flash the rom, then the gapps, then reboot. and thats all.

Android OS battery drain Stay awake while idle

hey guys,
been facing this on note 5 even before the latest ota update. Android OS is draining battery and it drops over night with about 12 to 15 percent from a full charge. tried wiping cache and uninstalling most apps with no sucess. here are screenshots. it has been stay awake for 4h although i was idle.
thanks in advance
the only solution i've found for now is to install a custom kernel (like arter97)
Need more info really for anyone to help. Such as what phone model (920A, G, I, C etc), what apps installed, what are syncing, what have you disabled etc.
Rooting is great, I used to do it, but not since my Note 4, since I started preferring my phones as they are.

CsC tur (turkey) Same Problem With ser csc
note 5 n920c . only mail is syncing and I have mostly social media apps and few games I play from time to time.
Most probably a misbehaving app. Try GSam Battery Monitor, charge to 100% and see which app is being naughty.
Connected to 5GHz WiFi also drains battery fast.

You change CSC by flashing a stock firmware from a different region of your choice, that's all.
After you flash, you go to the stock recovery (Vol Up + Home + Power buttons) and see the CSC change. If it hasn't, it will.

Wiping phone and flashing with stock Pie?

My wife's phone has been so slow and laggy after upgrading to Pie. Is there an easy way to wipe the phone and install a fresh copy of Pie for this phone? Or can it go back to the stock Oreo too?
If you go back to Oreo you will loose your Wifi/mobile connection as long as you're on this version.
There is no need to flash a new firmware for a better performance. A factory/hard reset is enough.
