Hi, I am currently using CM13 on Android M because I wanted Xposed. Recently, I have planned to switch to The Pure Nexus ROM for Android N, but I have been told something disheartening. I was told if I update my bootloader to Android N latest from Google, I will not be able to downgrade the bootloader because it can cause it to brick. Since my backups are for CM13, would I not be able to restore them through TWRP with the new Android N bootloader?
Bootloaders are backwards compatible. The 7 bootloader should work as far back as 5.1.1. You're right though, don't downgrade the bootloader.
Hi everybody
Wishing to sell my Huawei P9 I wanted to return it as it came out of the factory but impossible.
It has the bootloader unblock, FRP lock at one time it was unlock and since I tried to make an update it went into lock and the TWRP recovery of installed.
It is under 5.0.1 and android 7 and the number of buils is EVA-L09C530B284.
I tried the 3 methods to install an original ROM of my operator but nothing to do that does not.
- The DLOAD method: it restarts in the recovery twrp there are steps that are done and then it failed all in 2 minutes.
- The forced update method: that's 5% and installation failed.
- With hi suite: everything is going well and said that such is up to date and restart nothing I'm still in the old versions.
I did the 3 methods with the unrooted phone.
I feel that it is the recovery twrp that blocks the installation.
How to install the original recovery and install the official updates?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Sorry, I don't understand your question.
For both HWOTA (first link) or HWOTA7 (second link) you need to unlock Bootloader first - but you wrote above that previously you had unlocked Bootl8ader, hence you can use the same Bootloader code - it is bound to your eevice.
Asvdescribed in HWOTA instructions, installation of some stock ROMs will automatically relock your Bootloader (it-sa flag in the update.zip, out of your control) - hut you can always unlock it again.
ok it's good I just made an update and everything is back in order it is as if he came out of the box
thank you very much
Hi guys!
I have a simple question... I have a P10 VTR-L09 rebranded to VTR-L29... After a few month with EMUI i have tested LineageOS from Openkirin.net, but the ROM has to many bugs for me so i get back to EMUI.
Everything worked fine, now i have 8.0.0.374 (C432) on my device, but my bootloader is still UNLOCKED!
Will i receive OTA Updates in the future because i am on StockROM back again or is OTA not working with an unlocked bootloader?
Thx a lot!
OTA shouldn't be a problem with unlocked bootloader WITHOUT root. If you rooted your phone it's not possible to update via OTA.
In fact, you're not able to complete lock the bootloader on Oreo again.
Ok, i have no root, only bootloader unlock, so i will see the next weeks if it works... If not, i have to flash updates via TWRP...

Yes, you need to be very patient. Huawei update policy is a miracle, no know really knows when they release updates in which region, there are even different release times for the same model and region
If OTA doesn't work, you can try my guide, tutorial #3 (only works when you got the OTA update)
Yes i know... Before P10 i used some Xiaomi Phones and the community and update policy is awesome! But if you know a little bit of bootloader and TWRP you should be able to handle the most phones i think...
Thx a lot for your help!

For the EMUI 8 to 9 tool you will need root. You can do it from TWRP if you wanted to.
But you will need an unlocked bootloader at least, else you won't be able to install it.
No service = its not a service firmware, as most are on androidhost.ru.
Everything works fine. I just flashed it.

It says "no service" because it's not a DLOAD firmware.
Sorry, i'm just asking... From where did you got the rom? I see nothing on FF

It won't with the EMUI8 tool as it is now.
I will edit the EMUI9 tool and upload it, it will only require unlocked bootloader.
Edit: You can just use the EMUI9 tool as is, it's using Oreo TWRP and Oreo NoCheck.
As I am sure that EMUI 9 comes with new bootloader, is it possible to flash it without flashing xloader? As the Custom treble rom I want to use do not work on 9.0 vendor, so I could downgrade back.
Or uses the EMUI9 the 02xloader? If 02 then I can upgrade it to try it out!
Hopefully the update doesnt come x years laters for the ones on the official beta lol, anyway have fun guys
L09 nothing yet

Unlock phone, flash twrp by pretoriano80, flash Magisk zip in twrp.
Alternatively: unlock phone, patch ramdisk in Magisk Manager, flash patched ramdisk in fastboot.
Would this method work for upgrading BLA-L29c636 b145 to BLA-L29C636E2R1P13B159 (9.0.0.159)
Is there any chance of getting a working TWRP/root on this version?
Great news. I've just installed it without problems. Is there any safe way to unroot and relock bootloader?

Apparently the root developers, amongst others John Wu (Magisk), are working to get a simple way to root EMUI 9.0.
The root has already been confirmed to be working on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro and more devices should join the party sooner or later.

I'm on emui 9 beta and my bootloader and FRP were both unlocked. I removed all the scheme (fingerprint ecc.) ... but when i tred to flash the upgrade with your tool I saw that the FRP got locked. In the Setting options, Developper, (OEM unlock option is not anymore active). How can I restore this options to go on with the upgrade? Thank in advance.
So I just got a Nokia 8 TA-1004 new in a box at the current price €149 and I want to root and TWRP it. So my questions are:
Which version of Android should I install before unlocking the bootloader, rooting it and installing TWRP? Stock Nougat, Oreo or the new Pie that is available in the OTA? I guess I should first unlock it, install TWRP and then do SuperSU or magisks, right?
Edit: I installed Oreo 8.1 Jan v4.84A update, unlocking did NOT work. After that I tried 8.1 Nov v4.88B SP06, which worked fine. Currently working on TWRP and ROOT.
Thank you for you help and tips!
