Camera click - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Just noticed that everytime i open an app that uses the camera i hear a clicking from the back of the phone. happens all the time with the camera app, i hear it with instagram when i go take a picture and happens in snapchat too.
is this normal operation? any way to disable it or is it just a mechanical sound coming from the cameras?

Totally normal. It's caused by the aperture module (mechanical process).

perfect, thank you!

Double click the lock to turn on the camera and look at the lenses you see the aperture adjust depending on the shooting mode.

HTC One Camera Click

Hi Guys/Girls,
Some times when I open the Camera app I hear the back camera click. It does not always happen but it's something I've never had with a phone or any camera for that matter. Its the same noise as if you had tapped the back of the phone and the camera rattles.
Anyone know what that could be?
I have both of those sounds (clicking when opening the camera app, and a slight rattle if I tap the back of the phone around the camera lens,) and always wondered about them too.

Mine only clicks about 10% of the time. Maybe the lens is out of alignment and the focus motor is snapping it back.
so...should i be worried?
So should i be worried about these clicks? or should i rma it?

No worry htc camera move. So the lense is adjusting.
Tap the screen while in camera mode and see if that is the same sound.

[Q] Photos resolution after switching to front cam

I've been on vacation with my new s4 and I've noticed that half of my photos were at 1280x720 resolution on the main cam.
I've noticed it switched when I've accidentally switched to 2mp cam and switched back the resolution never came back to 8M.
Is there anything i can do on the camera app to make it remember proper resolution?
ps. Is there any way to silece the camera "shutter" sound?
I can't replicate your problem with resolution. Either I'm not following same route or it was fixed in MF5 that I'm running.
You can silence shutter sound by turning ringtown volume all the way down (off).

I't doesnt allways happen ill try to find proper steps to replicate this behaviour. As for volume it works as a zoom button and turning volume down prior to launching camera app does not elimitnate shutter of focus sounds .

Edit-note: It's only for ROOTed phones but...

There might be a solution for shutter sound. :fingers-crossed:Try installing Note 2 (sic) Hidden Settings (it works on my S4 Active i9295). There are many useful settings. One of them is "Add shutter sound menu" which adds item to settings menu in camera to turn it on an off. And there is also "CAMERA SHUTTER SOUND" which directly turns sound on and off.

Camera module rattle

I recently noticed that my camera module makes rattles when I barely shake my phone. It almost sounds like there is something loose inside near the camera module. With the s pen out, it still rattles the same, so it's not the s pen.
Thanks.

That's the OIS Lens making that noise. All OIS camera lens do that until the camera is activated. Launch the camera app and you'll see the nose goes away. If it doesn't go away then the magnetic stabilizer is no longer functioning as it should. It should activate and hold the lens in place and modify the wave length strength it receives based on what the camera is focusing on.

Thank you. It's doesn't rattle with camera app opened.

camera lens

Everytime I turn the camera on you can hear and see the lens open and close and you can hear the sound from it.. is this normal is anyone else experiencing this??
Yes its OIS and the aperture working.
Go to a dslr camera store and turn on a camera with IBIS. You will hear the same thing.

Snapchat quality

So I got my S10+ today and everything is great excpet for my most used app which is Snapchat. The front facing camera quality is terrible and it's extremely zoomed in. Whenever you take a picture it also jumps and moves the picture in and out quickly. Anyone else run into this problem
My quality is pretty good but it definitely is zoomed in...have to hold the phone at arms length for it to look normal
Yeah same here, snapchat just did an update that changed a bit. But the problem of the camera being zoomed is still there

how is the quality of the rear camera? I also use snapchat a lot and the quality of both the front and rear camera is very poor in my note 9.

The rear camera is quite a bit better than the front. But it's still snapchat quality and looks nothing like the pictures taken in the camera app. Its decent tho, the front camera situation is still the same.
