I really need some help please. I cant seem to figure this out and what's causing the issue.
Ok so my wife had the s9 and she would get periodic errors on Facebook when trying to view comments "sorry something went wrong please try later " like I say it was periodic with no rhyme or reason. I did my best to try the fixes I found on line none seemed to help.
Now we upgraded her to a note 9 and the issue seems to have followed her. I again have tried clearing the cache and even uninstalling the app and a fresh install. Still the issue keeps coming back.
Tech specs:
Note 9, snapdragon, oreo, u1, t mobile
Basically the same phone as I have and I have no issues.
Hi, @lodk
Upon searching on the Internet, it seems to be an issue from Facebook. This is a bug opened on Facebook Community which is still not fully addressed. Many users have reported a workaround. Please try and report if this fixes it:
I have a solution for this, it worked for me:
1. Go to: https://mbasic.facebook.com/
2. Login using your normal credentials
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and access your Account
4. Change your password
5. Open a new browser window
6. Go to: fb.com
7. Login using your new password
8. Follow the 'Make My Account Secure' steps
9. Finally, open a new browser window, go to fb.com, and log in using your new password - you will be able to access your page.
I'd add fresh install of FB app after this as well. Try viewing the comments then. Good Luck!

Thanks when we get home from work tonight I will give it a shot and post back after 24 hours if I have no issues.
I had stated in my original post our phone were the same. I was mistaken. Upon looking into this issue deeper and understanding that an error like this would seem to be internet related. I looked into her network connections and the APN I noticed our APN names were different and I have never changed mine. But the odd thing is mine is named MMS while hers was named more accurately after tmobile I forget at the moment exactly what the name is. But I decided to look at all of the settings under hers and mine. All was about the same except the name, authentication type she had none I had pap and the apn name type was missing a few things Luke sulp and mms.
Now I won't lie I have no idea on any of this but I made her a new APN and mimicked mine. Told her to let me know if that works right. I will post an update later..

So I tried this and unfortunately after a bit of use it did not work.
I am at a loss as to my next step..
Oh, I'm really sorry dude.
If this problem is this much severe, I think you should post about this on Facebook Community and as well as raise an issue to Facebook. You can also give a low rating (1 star works best) on Play Store and they'd reply.

I don't think it's an APN issue. You can rule out this by connecting both phones to a single WiFi and then checking for the issue.
Also, do try reproducing the issue on a VPN network. Download Psiphon from Play Store.

Thanks again, going to try these suggestions will update as I troubleshoot.

I use pattern to unlock my Galaxy S, but my son played with my phone and accidentally input too many patterns and make my phone only can be unlocked by signing into google account.
I typed my correct gmail user name and password, but still can't sign in and unlock the phone. I am also using APN ON/OFF application, and the APN status is OFF. I am thinking maybe it makes my phone unable to connect to the Internet and sign in to gmail.
Is there anyone know how to solve this problem without resetting the phone into factory default? And if I need to factory reset my phone, how can I do it because the 3 button combination is not working with my Galaxy S?
I'll be grateful if there is someone who can help
Many people have had this issue to some extend, most of them simply reflash the phone since that fixes it.
I remember someone wrote that you somehow could bypass it, sadly cant seem to locate the post anymore.

found it.

Try to put your gmail login info from all different gmail account you have.
Also try this. Take out battery>wait for 3 hours > but the battery back > press power button for 20 seconds (This method was listed by one guy on other forum).
One guy also mentioned this method.
AGAIN ITS the lamest thing you could ever think of, anyway heres how it goes,
1) Log in to your google account on your pc, the same account you registered for your phone
2) After logging in look at the top right corner of your inbox/email page, it would say your google username. Like say if you name is John, and you have a google id thats registered to your galaxy s as ,[email protected] Now this google id on the top right corner of the page would be displayed [email protected]
3) Type in the google id, thats visible on the right hand top corner of your page ([email protected]) into your galaxy s handset locked page, and type in the password.
TADA AND YOUR ON TO THE NEW SCREEN TELLING YOU TO PUT IN ANOTHER PATTERN.
Thanks
Zoh
If you cant login by computer then go here
HTML Code:
https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery
...And if you don't remember your secret (recovery) question then try the following method (check the link)
EDIT: you can also try this (very helpful to lot of ppl with the same problem) http://www.docstoc.com/docs/39761478...d---Locked-Out
Any way try all the methods and let me know if it works...BEST OF LUCK

this solution is with thanks to another person on another site...
You need a WiFi connection available for this to work!
1) Call your phone from a different phone.
2) Answer the call. While still connected...
3) Hit the BACK button on the phone (the arrow softkey)
4)This takes you to the home screen (it might take a few attempts, it depends on your timing. It took me 4 attempts)
5)Drag down your notifications bar and turn the WiFi on if it isn't already.
6)Close the notifications bar then hit the MENU softkey, select Settings then "Accounts and sync".
7)Click "Add Account" and select Google.
8)Sign up for a new google account as normal.
9)When the signup process is complete (and it must successfully create an account) you can hang up the call. (Do not sync the accounts)
10)Now when the phone asks you to unlock it using google credentials, use the ones from the account you just created. It will now ask you for a new security pattern, then for the same pattern again to verify.
11)Once you are back into the phone, turn off this "feature" until Google release a fix for the bug.
12)You can now delete the "false" google account which you just created from the phone. You should log into google and delete it from there too really.
13)Now reboot your phone. When the phone starts up and it still says "Phone Locked" don't panic!, Just drag the screen out of the way to unlock the phone, just like you did before you activated the pattern security.

No problem I´m glad it worked, now I can write it down for myself incase I run into this issue myself haha
Alright. The screen broke on my first Captivate because I was clumsy/stupid. Put the claim in for insurance, got a new phone, set everything up. Nice shiny phone, what could go wrong? For one single contact, it 'forgets' the area code when I go to message them from contacts or reply to their messages. I have to type in their name and choose the number from the drop down list. Very annoying as this is the person I text the most. I've seen two other threads on this subject, but there was no mention of a cure. I've tried deleting and re-entering the contacts, to no avail. I tried using GO Sms, it has the same problems. I have stock 2.1, running LauncherPro -in case that matters.
I think I'm in the clear to bump this, as it has yet to be resolved and it has been a month. Please. anyone? I'm certain I'm not the only one to experience this problem.
I just started putting the area code into my contacts' phone numbers. I did it on my PC in Google's contacts app, though.
If only it was that easy. The area code is in the contact's phone number! I click reply to a text and it will often disappear! Thanks for trying though. I remember reading once that it was a bug in the actual contact management itself, but I thought the great people here would be able to come up with a solution.
Edit: Actually, I am adding this contact to google contacts as I type, maybe your suggestion will work after all! I'm no sure yet do to the sporadic nature of the bug.

Hmm.. This is a known issue with the stock ROM.. Download and load a custom Firmware..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364 shows how to root phone and load custom roms..
For downloading custom rom, use one of them, like phoenix from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892973
Custom ROMs don't have this issue

I think these methods worked for many people. Use one:
1. Do a full factory reset.
2. Open messaging
click new message
Add offending contact to the send list
click to type in the send list and hit backspace until you have deleted the incorrect phone number.
then type in the correct phone number.
type a test message and hit send to fix the contact permanently.
3. Delete the contact. Ask the contact to call you. In the call log, long press and add to contact
Adding to Google Contacts didn't work after all. I am thinking of Flashing a custom ROM tonight once I decide on which.
Thanks for the help though! It is really annoying.
Ok, this worked for my on both my MyTouch 4G and My T-mobile Samsung Galaxy tablet. First off go to http://www.amazon.com/mobile-apps/b?ie=UTF8&node=2350149011 with is the site where you download the app from. Click on your name and go to your account settings. Somewhere on there will have a list of devices that you've used to sign into that app store with. Even if it's the same device, it comes up again or if you change roms it comes up as something else, there is an option below each one to deactivate it. When you click deactivate device, it will disappear within about 15 seconds. Do so with each one. I had about 20. I deleted every single one of them. Then I sent the email to my phone and tablet to download the amazon app store again and I installed it on both devices, and they both work fine now. I know these directions were kinda vague, it's because when I went back to look where it was that you see all of your devices and I've already deleted it. So look around in account settings and on the page where you enter a phone number or E-Mail, it sends the link too download it. It worked great for me, If someone else can do this and explain it better than me, feel free, any other questions, I'll try and help the best I can, [email protected] .
So basically go to that site on the link that I provided at the beginning of the post. Find where all your devices are stored, it's on the right side, click the button that says deactivate device below it, and it about 15 seconds it will disappear. Now delete EVERY one of them. All of them. Then put in your phone number or Gmail address then re-download the app-store then you should be able to sign in fine, let me know how it works and if someone can explain this better than me please do,
again I hope this helps, It should work on all devices,
Knotrkr
I hope that helps you guys out,
Patrick.
This worked for me, and I just went into application settings, did a force stop, clear cache, and wipe data. Then re-started amazon app store, signed back in, and it is working fine again.
just open all your lines and it will work..

I can't thank you enough, I have been going out of my mind the past few days wondering what to do to sign into my amazon account
thanks again!
Thank You Patrick!!!!
OMG! This has been driving my crazy! I even sent an email to amazon- they couldn't help. A simple general google search brought up your thread Patrick and it was a great fix My work around was just reinstalling the old data from titanium backup. But on my new galaxy nexus I didn't have any backups for it. Your fix Worked like a charm! I am a happy camper thanks to you Patrick. :victory:
Did I say thank you???
I know this is probably the wrong place to post this but I am not sure where else to turn. I have been working with Google customer support for 2 days and still have not been able to resolve my issue. I recently purchased a Chromecast. I set everything up and went to install the Cast extension in my Chrome browser but it would not download. I tried using the chromecast app on my phone and worked perfectly. I have tried restarting my computer multiple times. I have tried connecting to both bands of my wireless router as well as hard wiring my laptop to my router. I have uninstalled chrome and reinstalled it. I have tried installing the extension from the link provided by the chromecast application as well as going directly to the chrome web store. Both ways pop up the same issue. "Oops, adding the extension failed. Download interrupted."
I am on a samsung laptop with a core i7 processor running windows 7 home premium with service pack 1. I have installed all current windows updates as of this morning. I am running microsoft security essentials which was also updated this morning. I also have windows firewall with advanced security(I tried disabling the firewall and that did not fix the issue.) My router is a netgear brand r6300 ac1750.
Any ideas on what could be causing this issue? I feel as though I have exhausted all avenues that could be causing it so I am reaching out for help. Everyone at XDA has always been very friendly and helpful to me in the past and I greatly appreciate it. Please let me know if there is any other information you need from me.

Hi icepik,
Please try the below instructions:
Open windows explorer and type %USERPROFILE% in the Address bar.
Make sure you have a folder called 'Downloads' If not create one.
If you do already have a 'Downloads' folder, rename it to something like 'Downloads-Old' and make a new 'Downloads' folder
Open Google Chrome and Click on the 3 horizontal lines.
Choose Settings
Scroll down and click advanced settings
Find a section labeled downloads
Go back to windows explorer
Double click on your new 'Downloads' folder
Click in the address bar (DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING OUT OF IT)
Right click and choose copy or press CTRL+C
Go back to Chrome
Where it says downloads and then download location;
Click the text entry box
Delete everything out of it
Right click and choose paste or press CTRL+V
Close Chrome, and re-open.
Install Extension.

By any chance does anyone know a fix for OSX?
Pixel 5 here
So I updated to the beta and the pixel launcher kept crashing (couldn't even swipe or open app without the screen turning black and pixel launcher crashing) after the install until my phone kept restarting and said I needed a factory reset.
I factory reset the phone but when I go to set up the phone again after entering my wifi info the next screen asks me to "Copy apps & data"
if I hit next it asks me to connect my old phone, which I don't have an old phone. When I select "Can't use my old phone" a message pops up saying that I can restore data without my old phone by signing in with my account. I hit ok and it asks me to verify my pin? I factory reset the phone, why would it ask for that?? ANyway I enter my pin and and I'm back to the Copy apps & data screen.
Only other option is "Don't Copy". If I hit that It puts me in an infinite loop of verifying my pin, then back to the Copy apps & data screen.
Any help would be much appreciate, totally lost. Knew I should've not installed the beta :'(
I also have the same problem. I have the padlock icon in the top left side of the notifications area. I believe this means the phone is locked. I can not seem to be able to unlock the phone, even they it accepts my unlock code.

That is exactly what mine is doing. I can't go back and it is such in the transfer data screens. I also didn't enable developer options and USB debugging. So I guess wait for someone to post the upgrade file online
