Mi 9 - sensivity of fingerprint-animation - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

Hi,
I have noticed, that the sensivity of the fingerprint-animation is too high.
I have a phone car holder and the whole drive the animation activated.
I'm affraid, that the screen will burn in.
Can I change the sensivity of the animation?
Has someone else got the problem?
Greetz,

Sorry for my bad english!

I was also wondering the same thing. In the car the fingerprint reader stays lit. Burn in is a concern. Also, I wonder if it stays on in pocket or does the proximity sensor negate that?

I have the same problem and is very annoying. I can't find a way to switch it off yet.

Agreed. It's so sensitive I can see if light up at times when I simply move on sofa when it's next to me. Handy that it's always ready for us when wanting to use it, but indeed let's hope this 'solution' doesn't cause any problems whist doing so...

Kaiser turns back on again in belt-pocket without a reason.

Hi @ all !
There´s a thing very annoying in the new Kaiser... You cannot use any belt-pocket with magnetic closers !
After setting the phone to standby via one short press on power button, I found it back turned on again, everytime I took it out of the belt-pocket.
First I thought, that this must be the keyboard slide mechanism, cause the phone also comes back, when you slide out the keyboard, but I kept an eye on it, not the move the slider while putting it into the pocket and back out again. Then I thought, that it was the light sensor, but some tests made me sure, that it must be something else.
Finally I found out, that it turns back on again, cause I´m still using the belt-pocket of my old TyTN I with the 2 magnets as closing mechanism... If you try and hold a magnet over the keyboard in the area of S,D,E,X,F or even on the back side in the same area and move it around just a little bit, the phone turns on... Crazy, but true !
Now I know, why they gave that awful new belt-pocket with the tape-closer to the Kaiser...
Hope that helps
Marco
It is partly related to keyboard... it has a magnetic sensor that it is activated when keyboard is released, so the magnet from your holster tricks the sensor into believing keyboard is out, so it activates screen.
I guess thats why they have the velcro closer on the one that is shipped with the phone. This is somthing to consider when buying a nice Piel Frama one.
Absolutely it's the keyboard magnet operated switch that does it. But, I know you can run a magnet (let's say the case magnet ) over the d-pad area (seems to do it on mine) and the Kaiser will turn on. - However, I have been using the TyTn case also and I have not noticed it turning on just by sliding the Kaiser in and out. In fact I have just sat here and put it in and out every which way (for the last ten minutes) and it has not come on.
Maybe your magnets are stronger than mine or your keyboard switch more sensitive? I am also not keen on that "tape" closing on the new case.
Mike
lol i wish i would have read that some place, i thought it was the keyboard some switch but didnt think they would use a magnet, it was pissing me off a lot while i was driving, now i know i found on my own, but the magnet that i have is shielded a bit, but still just the right position and it will trigger the switch
I sure hope this was posted some place in a FAQ or wiki, if not it should be and if it was, then shame on me for not reading that part or noticing it
Magnetic sensor via magnet in holster.
Just found out this "feature" with a BB holster...
Has anyone found a way to exploit/use this feature to turn-on the device when removed from the holster?
That is something I always envied with my wifes Blackberry.
I've noticed this too
I have the same problem, but since mine is set not to wakeup when the keyboard slides open I can't see how the magnet could be the culprit.
I had the same problem with my Nokia and Kaiser.....Never thought it was because of the magnet sensor in the device....To tell the truth...I didnt know that it had one inside.....Thanks for the info....
Would it affect the sensor in anyways....if it doesnt, I can actually use this "feature" so my phone is awake each time I pull it out of the belt case......

incall screen off app..like iphone????

the iphone switches the screen off when it goes to your head then turns back on when u take it away. is there a simple app for this??
Phone lacks the proximity sensor the iPhone has. Fortunately, it has a plethora of other useful features (a keyboard, picture messages, etc.)

To add on to that the phone also goes to sleep when the call is connected and its just a matter of pressing the power button to get it to wake up again.
mine doesnt
Well mine has always went black when it goes up to my ear, but it would be nice if it came back on when removed from my ear.. although we dont have a proximity sensor, i dont see why it coulnt work with the gsensor/accelerometer. all it would have to do is go on when the phone is put back in the upright position

is there a setting for this?
is it possible to in fact use the light sensor? it obviously recognizes something when it turns off, maybe write up something saying "when dark below 'x' threshold, turn off screen. when bright above threshold, screen on. you would have to press the screen somewhat snugly to your face, but it sure beats nothing.

It should be possible, but no one has done anything with the light sensor of turning it back on. I'm thinking that the polling of the light sensor turns off when the screen is in standby. If we can somehow get that to work in only incall (so it doesn't have battery issues), then it should work, when it goes from little light to more light, it should act as close to phone to far away from phone.
One could even use 2 sensors for it? Maybe the Light-Sensor and the G-Sensor. So when u bring the phone to your ear the light gets dark an the position upright. (the phone turns the screen off) And as soon as it get brighter and the position is change to normal (whatever that is ) it turns back on.
I reall would love to write something like that. But so far i have no clue of writing anything for that phone. Does anyone know a tutorial for writing software for a pda?
Thx
Come on guys this would be soooo great

It doesn't actually do that when you put it up to your ear. It's a WinMo setting to put the phone in standby after a call is launched or received. What you preceive as behavior is actually a timing thing.
The guy from pocket shield managed to combine these two sensors, g-sensor and light sensor, to work together as locking/unlocking behavior.
maybe some g-sensor and lumos code can handle this thing... and create one cab solution here...
if some one could write this code it would be an AWESOME addition to the Phone. I would personaly love this as im sure many others would.
Thanks.
this is a bit late, but here's a cool app that i've found...

Screen Alignment

Hey guys. By now, I'm sure most of you are probably familiar with the screen alignment issue (where, sometimes when you go to click on something, it clicks something above or below and is about 1/3 of an inch off).
Well, I've noticed something on my device and was wondering if anybody else has had the same experience. If I have the screen brightness all the way down, I can use the screen for quite some time before this happens. Then, I just hit the power button, put it to sleep, and then wake it back up and the problems corrected. What's weird is, if I have the brightness all the way up (like when I'm outside on a sunny day), it takes far less time for the misalignment issue to show it's ugly face.
Basically, what this says to me is that it might be related to a heat issue from the screen itself. Just wondering what everybody else has noticed.

Yes I have notice it too with the same setting but didn't think much of it and just put it to sleep and woke it up and worked after that.
dont know if its a heat issue, my phone is always on 0% brightness and it still randomly happens.

Strange LG G4 Issues

Hello everyone, I havent been on XDA in a while, but now im reaching out to the community. I am having weird issues Like overheating, "false screen starts", very dim screen, unresponsiveness while charging, camera buzzing, and bad camera quality.
For starters, The overheating is due to the Snapdragon 808 chip. It was rushed in development by Quilcomm. I disassembled my LG G4 to find that LG had put an RF shield on top of the CPU. Between the CPU and the RF shield is a thin layer of what looked to be mylar tape. I had an idea, what if I removed the tape and put some thermal paste between the shield and the CPU? I might try that as it wont really effect anything. Ill give you guys an update.
2nd: Screen issues. I have noticed when I turn the phone on from standby, the screen is very dim. Another thing that happens is the screen will be on but not show anything or have "static" on the screen. Both of which are very dark and hard to see in normal lighting conditions. This is fixed by putting the phone to sleep and turning on again. Someone in my family got a LG Vista and had a dim screen issue, but it couldn't be fixed by reboots. Another thing that will happen is a flash on the right side of the screen of multi-colored static. The flash is about half a millisecond, however it doesn't happen alot.
3rd: You know what happens when you try to use your phone in the rain? And how it does random things or even doesn't respond to your touch? My G4 has that issue while its charging. It happens most on my Samsung Quick Charger and as well as some non-quick charge chargers. This is annoying when I want to use my phone on a near dead battery, and is doesn't help that the Snapdragon 808 overheats when plugged in.
4th. Camera Quality: I think its the lens, I dont know yet. I noticed that very rarely it starts to buzz and you can feel it moving. Why? I have no idea.
Does anyone else have these issues? Please let me know. This happens on various ROMs (stock included). On android versions 6.0 through 8.1

Burn in? No, but it's weird.

Since I have only had my Mi 9 for less than a month, it should be impossible that it already has a Burn In...
However on the part of the screen where the fingerprint sensor sits, I noticed a grey-ish circle, which is exactly the size of the fingerprint. Since Burn In after 2 weeks should be impossible I turned the phone off and restarted it after a Minute and the spot was gone.
Now 2 hours later it is there again.
I don't even use the fingerprint sensor very often, only if I can't use face unlock...
Did anyone experience a similar problem?
(Btw, it's not software, I took a screenshot and it wasn't there)

Well, that's interesting... Do follow this up to let us know what's up.
Before I got my Mi 9 yesterday, I clocked a full 4 years on my Note 4, and never experienced burn in... In fact, I would argue that the display looks the same today, as it looked the day I bought it. (no noticeable brightness drop)
i have experienced this on every "in display fingerprint" phone i've owned, and all it it is the optical sensor slightly visible with the screen off .

Hey Man sorry for telling you so but this gray spot is the actual hole that your phone needs for the indisplay fingerprint scanner to work. You cannot notice it in all conditions. To test it go out in the sun max out the brightness and use a completely white photo.
P.s. there is another hole near your notch which is your proximity sensor

yes thats correct the circle is only to assist you with the position of fingerprint sensor, its the same in my huawei mate 20 Pro, cheers
I wish I knew all this before I sold my Mi 8 Pro for dirt cheap lol
