Mine is being shipped however what is everyone's favorite feature or design on this new beast?

This is my first Note so everything to me is great. The S pen I love and the screen. The only complaint is I wish the screen was a little wider. I know the measure from the end of the curve. If they would have made it 6in with the curve would have been perfect.

Old phones in my sign.
But the best part of the notes have always been the spen to me.
I had the note edge and it was lovely then the s7 edge was great but i missed my spen.
but im sure your fine alot your like when you get the phone.
Iris Scanner.... That's really cool.
Using the S-pen to take quick notes without having to turn on the phone, That comes in handy.
Being Waterproof saves alot of worry.... I'm in Fl, always around water.
Iris Scanner hands down.
My wife says I've a line for an eye and it can detect my eyes. LOL
Then tried to have my co-workers and friends tried to unlock it and they couldn't :good:
During registration It did ask me to open my eyes Wide, as the first attempt didn't work with normal eyes position.
The new fingerprint sensor is waaaaay better, this one actually works, previous models it simply didn't work right, so I always ended up disabling it.
This one, you simply touch it, and it opens up the home screen as it supposed to do.
Quick frankly the Finger Print works even better than the Iris scan, as it's more natural.
Whenever I turn on the phone, it's always through the Home button.
Coming from the S7 Edge so a lot of features I already had. I do love having my S-Pen back and the Iris Scanner is really cool. However my favorite features is the improved UI of the camera. The camera on the S7 Edge was the best I had used on a mobile devices, but the new interface makes it so much easier to use the extra features. Direct feed to YouTube Broadcasting is great to have.
Maybe not exclusive to Note 7. but the camera's focus speed and picture quality is really great, makes DSLR almost redundant. Of course S-pen is a signature of all Note series and main reason I won't buy another make, but improvements to s-pen are more incremental over previous models, than drastic. Also screen is probably one of the best, if not the best on the market ATM. And water proofing is one thing less to worry about.

Yes, indeed. I live in Florida and Im also a swimmer. Even though Im not planning to submerge this pricey beast, Im always around or in a pool, so a huge extra level of protection
This is my first note device and can easily say it's the S-pen that has me hooked. I've been constantly using it but if I'm not using it im most likely clicking the top of the pen non stop. A close second has to be the iris scanner.

I have had every single not and Galaxy device to date. I am really excited about the water proof finally. A note that has it!

did you setup the fingerprint correctly?
I know the note edge (n4) you had to swipe down which just suck.
The s7 edge was a press one. It work really good.
I always setup my fingerprints by turning my finger 270degs. making sure it gets my finger from all sides. I even go a little above the pad.
Work great for the s7 edge. but yes the note 7 FP is much faster and success rate is higher
Hi, I just want to share my experience with my Galaxy s10's fingerprint scanner. First of all i'm using an exynos galaxy s10 with a whitestone dome glass perfectly installed on it, so far my experience with the fingerprint scanner is awful. It's the thing the makes me rate this phone badly. i'm a person who gets their hands very sweaty often and it made me excited when i heard that this scanner will work even with wet fingers but this is what i found out with my s10's scanner. it works better when my fingers are moist. whenever my fingers are naturally dry the phone will ask me to put more pressure than the usual pressure i give, in addition most of the time it gives me the NO MATCH feedback, to the point that my phone locks itself for seconds because of the repeated failures. when i got my phone i updated it to the latest update i think it's security patch level feb 1 2019. i've tried a lot of method scanning my fingers a lot of times, i've maxed out the fingerprint slots with one finger just so it will scan it more accurately. But it's just annoying there are times it would work perfectly there are times it's awful. i've owned this phone for 4days now and everyday i always register my fingerprint because it's that annoying. How's your experience with your fingerprint scanner? Any suggestions?

Did it work any better before you applied the Whitestone and have you changed the screen sensitivity. I have the Snapdragon but haven't had that much trouble. Since I have trusted places, on-body detection and trusted devices (my watch) on, I almost never have to use the fingerprint except for logging in secure apps and they work almost 100% of the time. I do still have the factory protector installed.
Yes its crappy at the moment. I'm getting roughly 7 in 10 success rate & have to consciously make sure I press the right area. My Oneplus 6T works nearly everytime. Hopefully updates will make it better.
Mine is good but due to the physics (S9+ you simply had a Spot to lock your finger into) it is not as good as S9+.
Personally, I don't have complains when using the finger print on my S10 Plus. I used to use screen protectors on every phones. Now I don't use screen protectors anymore. The screens now days are more durable and scratch proof than people think. Just use it normally and the screen will be fine. The last couple phones (Including iPhones) that I have used has no stretches on the screen after long time usage. Ended up selling all of them as mint condition.
On the S10, the finger print sensor works better without a screen protector. Also, you can register your finger print more than once (Using the same finger) if you need to. Remember to do it with different angles as well.
Finding it very disappointing! Taken off the supplied screen protector and adding a second finger print using the same thumb did help but its still way behind a physical button! My S9 plus was perfection compared to this! I have a success rate of about 6/7 out of 10! I always feel like iam placing my finger perfectly in the right area but sometimes it just refuses to unlcock ha
I hate to big up Apple because i hate them as a company but the iphone xs works flawlessly in comparison and Face id is a dream to use compared to this crap!
How is the S10's fingerprint sensor reliability and speed after all the updates? My fingers keep sweating all the time and therefore standard capacitive sensors do fail to unlock phones most of the time. Recently I've tried the Huawei P20 (not Pro), and it's ultrasonic fingerprint sensor was blazing fast and super reliable no matter how wet my fingers were. I don't mind one in S10 being a little bit slower, but does it work nicely even with wet fingers? I haven't tried phones with optic sensors yet, but due to technology limitations, I expect optic sensors to be even worse than capacitive ones in case of wet fingers, whereas ultrasonic, like in P20 or S10 should excel?
My experience is pretty bad. I have dry hands so that might be why, but I absolutely hate it. On the 6T it was always accurate and fast, on the Note 9 it's the best, but the fingerprint sensor on my S10 makes me want to through the phone down a bottomless pit. It's the reason I regret getting the phone.
Fingerprint works fine for me. But when my fingers go dry the ultrasonic is not good. The work around I found is to rub my thumb before using the ultrasonic. Works fine. Other than, it's not super fast to unlock the phone but well I don't have much issue. The S10 recognize my fingers most of the time (dry finger is the culprit definitely)
50/50. It only works half of the time. Really bad.
So i did what i read, i scanned the same finger more than once, and did this with different orientations,
all in all works like charm, at least 9 out of 10

i m still on May patch
I bought it with part reason that this scanner works with wet hands. Well it does....but overall the performance is quite bad. A short tap is all you need to get in,but it needs time to process before youre in. Takes like 1 - 1,5 seconds compared to 0.5 on other flagships. Besides this, it also fails to reconise my fingers a lot.
I only scanned one thumb since that's all I use so that may be the reason mine works 100% of the time. I can't remember the last time mine didn't read the first try.
For me, at start it worked 50/50. But when i added 2 times same finger i use (both thumbs x2) it works 100% of time. But still it could be improved with software.
Well, it seems like everyone's got totally different experience. I've seen that fingerprint sensor in S10 covers really small area, so you maybe have to place your finger very precisely into one spot, so that maybe one factor to consider. Hmm, I guess I'll have to try it myself, but based on your responses, it doesn't really seem to be sensor which meets expectations for flagship device.
Personally, I used to have mistakes because I didn't put my whole fingerprint on the sensor. Now I put my whole fingerprint on the ultrasonic sensor and it works like charm. With dry fingers, I need to put more pressure on the sensor so that the sensor can read my fingerprint properly. At the end I find the ultrasonic not so bad after all. I have 0% mistakes now. For the next generation of that ultrasonic I suppose they will improve the sensitivity of the sensor so that it becomes instantaneous.
Improvements After June Security Update
My personal experience is with SM-G9730 with OEM screen saver pulled off in frustration. I find that ease and reliability of entering fingerprints as well as accuracy and reliability of using fingerprint unlock is improved dramatically after June security update. I B happy!

The sensor itself is already pretty much instant. Give the sensor a slight tap and it will work. The waiting is because of the processing needed. A 3d scan needs a lot more processing to make sure its a valid fingerprint. So i can already guarantee the next samsung phone will do this faster due to a better processor.

The slight tap only work if your finger is not dry. Then yes it works and unlock instantaneously. What I mean is that the main limit of the ultrasonic is the dry finger situation. With dry fingers slight tap just don't work because the sensor doesn't recognize the fingerprint. That's why it requires to put some pressure on the screen so that the sensor can read the fingerprint. Anyway hope the next generation will fix it.

Oh so it's not my imagination, June update did improve the fingerprint unlock. I also have the same positive experience. It's way way better
If I do some yard work and don't wear gardening gloves then it doesn't work as reliably as it prior. Takes a few days until my skin on my fingers repair then the sensor works good again.

So I've had the S10 for a few days now. So far I can say fingerprint sensor is working very well with wet fingers achieving nearly 100% success rate. However, speed differs a lot from almost instant unlock taking about 0.5 sec to slow unlock at around 2 seconds. It is nowhere near the speed of fingerprint scanner in P20, but since it is in display, it is perfectly acceptable to me as long as fingerprint gets recognised reliably.

I can confirm this issue with dry fingers. It needs some real pressure if your finger is completely dry(which my is almost never) and takes some time to unlock.
All in all, it works good to me, with wet fingers nicely compared to capacitive scanners, which is not the case with very dry fingers, as it needs pressure and still can fail many times.
For me it's working fine..trick is you have to put the finger on the right spot

Hows the face recognition for you ?
Seems very sluggish and delayed
and very hit & miss I've obviously registered my face twice one in good light and another in less light but still very un reliable and normally end up putting pin code in as quicker , anybody else got any good tips to improve recognition speed etc , I'm also using full screen tempered glass that actually covers front camera not that it should impair the camera but could be a factor I suppose,
It also pretty much makes the fingerprint reader un useable as can't even register finger print with it on just fails and also have increased sensitivity turned on , hope Samsung can improve both areas I could take screen protector of and may improve but run the risk of scratching up display with only GG3 used , anybody going without a screen protector hows performance for you in face unlock and fingerprint ?? Face unlock works okay most of the time, I even have 'Faster recognition' and 'Brighten screen' turned off and it works great in daylight, okay in lowlight and not working in the dark.
Fingerprint sensor works well when I hit the green mark from the right angle otherwise it's a bit slow and doesn't match.
In conclusion both of them are very much usable but not at a flagship level experience.

I've been plagued by fingerprint issues just like everyone else. But I've also been running an experiment. Every time my fingerprint won't unlock the phone I wash my hands. AND IT WORKS EVERY SINGLE TIME!! The sensor is EXTREMELY sensitive!! If you have even one speck of dust it could fail to unlock.
I promise you.... try it!! It will work every single time!!
I mean really, thanks Google!!! I probably should wash my hands more if they're dirty enough to keep the sensor from working.
Helps to clean the sensor now and then, too. I have this issue on my Pixel 5 all the time.
I actually find the opposite. If my fingers have any dampness at all, it won't read properly.
I only wash my hands once a week and the sensor works fine
Do you have any protection applied on the phone ?
Wash my hands? I never had a device with in display fingerprint which needed washed hands.
I just added a new tempered glass screen protector, and that one is known for being awesome. I added all four fingerprints again, and it all worked like a charm for like five hours. 10/10 instant unlock. Today it does not work anymore. 3/10 unlock and slow. It's a software issue I guess and by now I'm totally fed up with the incompetence of the Google developers. It's a 750€ device, and even 200€ BBK phones got better working fingerprint readers.
I'm quite pi**ed.

That happens to me too sometimes. Like perfect for a day or so then no matter what I do it's 3/10 just like you. I then reboot and it usually clears it up. One fail safe method it to rub your thumb (or whatever finger you use) across your forehead then try again. I've heard licking your finger but that is disgusting and I'd never do that. Try those 2 methods see if it helps. The March update also seems to make it quicker but it could be placebo.

I've gone from being pissed to being amused at how bad it is. For me 7 is worse than 6 ever was. Hell, just getting a couple digits enrolled on 7 has been impossible, and for an extra rub it teases and craps out at the 11:55 mark every time.
To be fair, I work with lumber and my digits tend to be rough. But this never stopped me from using fingerprints with older and cheaper phones.

What that means is the fingerprint sensor on your phone is of poor quality, just like some of the other components.
Google Pixel phones and their clean (read very basic with lack of features) software are both overrated and overpriced. You're essentially paying the premium to cover their marketing costs, and not for buying a better device.
I live in a dry environment, and I find that if my fingers are particularly dry the FPS doesn't work. Just breathing on my fingertip is usually enough to get the FPS to work. That being said, the March 2023 update seems to have improved the FPS significantly for me. Or it may be placibo effect.
It's 2:00 AM here, I switched off the lights in my room, took my P7, removed all four fingerprints, added them again sitting in full darkness. Turned on lights again. Well... now the fingerprint reader has never been so fast, unlocking so snappy and even with a soft and short touch with the tip of my finger. Hilarious.
I hope the devs at Google optimize the software for this mess of a sensor. What a sh*tshow.
And now at 10:30 AM it does not work anymore... LOL. No matter how I press the sensor, it forces me to put in my PIN to unlock.
This is weird that some people have problems with FPS while others don't.
I was initially afraid about this FPS issue reading all the bad experiences but it works basically 99% of times.
I still suspect it has more to do how you position your finger on the learning phase and is the finger dry or moist.
Because during learning phase it didn't ask to retouch the sensor with moist fingers but did ask to try again with dry finger. I suspect if you teach with moist finger it expects moist fingers but with dryer fingers it seems to not matter that much. On learning phase i pressed slightly harder compared to normal use.
I relearned finger 3 times because on the first two tries it would work about 50% of times. I remember i pressed quite gently on first tries since it looked like it registered it.
On the last try i had semi-dry fingers and tried to mimic normal unlocking position while giving the whole footprint. Even the very bottom part of thumb that normally don't touch the sensor.
Now it's pretty much like OnePlus6 experience with FPS with the exception that when the finger is super dry need to press slightly harder and it will register it.
If it matters i have screen film applied on screen. Not tempered glass.
Also with March 2023 update i haven't had a single fail yet with fingerprint detection.
Initially when received the phone i had October 2022 software and i didn't want to update. Then i exactly remember that it would stop working normally after a day or so. Like it forgot some areas of finger or expected very precise location.
I did buy phone in february and it could be that earlier batches had different FPS hardware revision. Smaller resolution/memory ... ?
I played around with FPS trying to get it to fail and when pressing too gently it fails so i would conclude the right pressure is quite important. Didn't find any difference in total darkness vs well lit room.

It is a fairly well know thing after Google moved away from the ultrasonic finger print scanners last used on the Pixel 5s, it has not worked well for many people. If you did the research prior you would have seen this has been issue ever since. Easy solution is don't use it and go back to the old style of a pin or pattern.
Can't comment on the face recognition portion, since I haven't done any research on it, nor do I want to, since I don't have a desire to use it, but I am sure other here have extensive experience and knowledge about it. Just have to do the research before trying it if you want to know what may or may not come of it before trying.

Even easier is to not use any protection at all.
Both are impractical suggestions.
Having been spoiled by Face Unlock, there is no going back for me. Fingerprint is used mostly in dark environments where Face Unlock struggles.

and the darkness is where my fingerprint on Pixel 7 fails 100% of the time.
Pin is difficult while in motion. Pattern for me is easiest.
To OP, I wash my hands religiously. I won't touch a door knob and then touch my face, so washing alone is not the solution. I imagine it has to do with screen protectors installed since everyone uses different ones that have varying thicknesses and see-through visibility.

I wonder what kind of special fingerprint sensor the Pixel 6 and 7 have then. My last few devices (Realme & OnePlus) with in-display fpr ... well you could have slapped a $2 or a $50 tgsp on it, and it did not matter in any way. They worked just like a charm. I had a Pixel 6 (yeah, f* that pos) and now a Pixel 7 (I really like it) and both fpr are the worst mess.

You gotta figure out what is wrong. Not too many responses here because most are not having those issues any longer. Originally, yes for sure. But lately it's been working a good 90+ % of the time. Never can get an unlock after swimming though until I moisturize but that's excusable. Get rid of the silly screen protector which is useless unless you are in the sand/gravel business which I see you are not. (nice walls) If it still doesn't work perhaps an RMA would be in order. I've seen that happen and the replacement is way better. But you shouldn't live with a flawed device that is otherwise very good.

All good points. I don't have opinions about which screen protector works best since my Pixel 7 sensor is a dud without one. If my 7 is worse than 6 then simple logic suggests there's a defect.
I bought a used Pixel 5 a few months ago as a backup, plus it helped verify my P7 problem isn't my fingers. My wife called the P5 "cute" so now she has it. I've never gone through Google's replacement process before but it should be a breeze compared to getting the P5 back.

One of the issues seems to be Tensor/Exynos versus Snapdragon. Apparently, the former can't use the latter's ultrasonic sensor tech without infringing on patents. But I think the overwhelming problem boils down to tolerances and inconsistencies in the manufacturing process, especially in the past couple years, and whether our Pixels were assembled during first shift Monday morning, hump day, payday...
@manjaroid lol you have no idea what it took to get my wife to trade in her p5. The p7 cost $100 after so she went for it. Of the rumors of the p8 at 5.8 are true then Black Friday is looking really good. As for your device it does sound like a lemon. Try to get an rma of you can.
