Android core apps is giving me a big headache - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Questions & Answers

Contact storage is eating my battery like crazy.
I have tried clearing cache and storage of the apps that sync with contacts like whatsapp, contact storage, contacts backup and sync.
Googled around and did whatever solution available too.
Any help here is appreciated!

Syncing Emails

Hi, I was just wondering if you know how to change the sync folder for emails to the internal storage?
as i have alot of emails, the phone memory isnt big enough and I cant find a way to change the root folder so, that it syncs all emails automatically to the internal storage driver?
any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
come on people no one knows any solutions at all??
I assume you are saving attatchments to internal storage?
Messaging -> Options -> Storage
You must have a massive amount of emails to have space issues, its just plain text after all.
not just attachments, i want the emails to be also in the internal drive, because when I use the active sync from windows it just puts them into the phone memory where there isnt enough space for it all.

Database storage is dbdata
Open a terminal app and enter "df" to see how much space is free on dbdata. If it's full, we need to thing of a way for rectify the issue, if it's not full then I'm completely wrong/thick
Ok I had the issue with my contacts2.db under /dbdata becoming very large (approx 90mb) and found a solution. Im posting it here in case it helps others. The solution had nothing to do with my handset or android in general. it was ALL to do with google contacts.
when i logged on to google contacts and tried to export "My Contacts" in an effort to fix up the problem with contacts2 on my android device being so large i discovered something weird. There is an option in the export panel to export "All Contacts" as an alternative to "My Contacts". Now "My Contacts" showed me having approx 400 contacts but "All Contacts" showed as 390000+ contacts.... WTF???... Anyhow having pulled the contacts2.db off my droid and used a sqlite browser to examine the data I noticed there seemed to be at least 300 copies of each contact. So it seems like droid is syncing "All Contacts" from google instead of "My contacts" (unverified, just my assumption).
Within google contacts there is a function to "Find and Merge duplicate contacts" which seems to chose a subset (maybe 10 or so) of your contacts and search for duplicates and merge them into a single record. After performing "Find and Merge duplicate contacts" continually until i received the "No Duplicates found" response i then went back to the "export" function and noticed my "ALL Contacts" had come down from 390000+ to approx 400.
Then on my droid i went into settings=>applications=>manage application=>All=>contacts storage and hit "clear data" and rebooted it. The contacts resync'd from google contacts and then when i checked "contacts storage" it had come down from 90mb to 1.4mb.
I have no answer at this stage as to why google contacts was getting so many duplicates. My only guess is that it is something to do with the sync back from droid to gcontacts. Anyhow I just thought i would publish the solution i found as I have seen plenty of threads from other people with the same issue.
Good luck !

Calendar Storage FCing? Can it even DO that?

OK, now this is a weird one...
Out of nowhere, I tried to open my Calendar and it immediately FCed, saying the Calendar Storage closed unexpectedly. Then I kept getting the same message over and over again until I turned off the sync calender option in my email account.
Any idea what this one is? I changed ROMs today, but it was running fine for several hours before this happened.
Will restoring my last Titanium backup of Calendar storage help? Or perhaps deleting its data from Titanium?
Are you using Jorte? Deleting serial events with Jorte caused this effect on my wifes phone.
Manage Applications / Calendar Storage / Clear Data repairs this - until you delete serial events again;-)

I have never used Jorte, but clearing data solved the problem anyway.
Much obliged.
ah, maybe another calendar app causing the same - fine that your problems are solved then. My wife drove me crazy with this one

SGT7 contacts sync fills up all available memory!!!

I know the reason why this is happening. I have a large network and would like to sync it to my phone contacts. Obviously SGT7 internal memory is insufficient to take it all in.
Is there any apps or options that would allow me to sync it anyway by using external memory?
Is there any other android options that would handle in excess of 20k contacts on a mobile device?
Thanks for any advice!

Contacts syncing forever

Hi!
I reset my nexus 6 today, after booting up it is taking forever to sync my contacts. In Settings -> Accounts -> google account, it is showing that it is syncing contacts but never does. In contacts app it takes a 4-5 seconds to show my contacts, but strangely only contacts with no pictures are displaying only. No contact with a picture shows up. And still it is taking forever to finish sync.
I have tried everything but can't seem to solve this issue. I restarted, turned sync off and then on again, cleared data and cache of all relevant apps (phone, contacts, contacts storage, contacts sync) and even reset again.
Can you guys suggest something else.
So I deleted some 10,000 contacts, making total contacts to 2,000. And it solved the problem.

Click to collapse
That will do it. On older devices used to get Acore.process has stopped FC for same reason. It gets tired and times out.
