Disable Swipe Down Menu on Lockscreen - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Is there a way to disable the swipe down menu on the lockscreen? The whole point of the phone being locked is so that I can only access the info/notifications.
Well if I can just swipe down while on the lockscreen and see the previewed text/who o missed a call from/email etc it kinda makes locking the phone pointless.
Any idea how to disable that feature? I feel like I'm just missing it but IDK?

This is under settings, lockscreen, notifications.
You can hide content or disable them on lockscreen in general.

I can still drag the pull down menu when the screen is locked.
Anyone can turn on/off Audio, Flashlight, Blue light filter, Do Not Disturb, Auto Rotate, Always On Display, Sync, Edge Lighting, Dolby Atmos, Night mode, Bixby Routines and Navigation bar settings. Either I am missing something or allowing anyone unfettered access to the settings on the locked screen is a new feature of the OS.
I want to completely disable/hide the pull down menu on the locked screen. If I need to do anything on the phone with the exception of making emergency calls and using the camera, I should first login with the pattern, fingerprint or facial recognition. A Samsung rep responded to a post similar to this on the Samsung community forum that only a third party app can completely disable that pull down menu. smh. I really hope someone here found a way to disable that menu.

[Q] Lockscreen security toggle?

I'd like to turn the lockscreen security off in areas where I feel secure doing so. When i'm out taking public transportation or any other areas with any risk, i'd like the ability to easily turn security on.
Right now i'm using Xposed Framework with GravityBox 2.6.1. I'd prefer there to be a quick settings toggle that enabled/disabled the lockscreen security but didn't see that option in GravityBox (would request it in the thread for it but it looks like I can't until I post more here?).
Does anyone else have a setup similar to what i'm trying to achieve?
"No Lock Screen" app doesn't seem to work. Currently using "Toggle Lock" which does work as a widget but the size of it is so small at 1x1 (have to resize to enlarge but ends up taking too much space). Also the problem with toggle lock is if you close the Toggle Lock app in the multi-tasking in seems to break this setup.
EDIT: Toggle Lock has issues too after awhile it still asks for unlock randomly when launching apps/notifications
I used Tasker combined with Secure Settings (both on play store) to achieve something similar. When I'm connected to my home wifi, my password is disabled. When I'm connected to no wifi or any other wifi, my password is enabled.
I know this isn't the same as having a single press to toggle the password on and off, but since you can create a tasker task to do this, I imagine it can't be that hard to use Tasker App Factory to make an app that toggles the password on and off. Then just put that app on your home screen and you should be good to go.
Thanks! I'll look into that. The toggle lock app seems to have problems.

Thanks! I tried and it seemed to work great at first (no issues with closing the app by mistake). Then i noticed later on how the phone would be unlocked yet accessing text messages from the notification bar would request the password.
What I ended up doing was setting a shortcut for Nova launcher 'Activities' > 'Settings' > 'Unlock selection' ChooseLockGeneric. This allows me to get to that settings page quickly and directly but I have to manually set up the password each time. Works though!

Issues with ambient display

I enable ambient display feature on my nexus 6 as it doesn't have an awesome pulse light like nexus 5.
However if I enable this feature it includes both wake screen when pick up and notification comes. But I suffered the problem of wake screen when the phone is in my pocket.
When the phone is waking even the scree is locked, you can still touch the notification bar and do the settings. I suffered many times when the phone is in my pocket, but the flash light is on or put the phone in airplane mode. It's very annoying.
Can someone tell me how to disable notifications bar when the phone is locked or disable wake screen when pick up feature but not wake screen when notification comes.
Thanks.

If you put security on your lockscreen, you can't touch anything from ambient display without putting in your pattern, pin, or password.
I think there are some other apps that have similar functionality, that have more options. AcDsiplay, DynamicNotifications, and NoLED among many others. I am not saying these are good, as I haven't used them. Just saying there are some other apps that can probably give you more options if that is what you are looking for.
Otherwise, if you are a custom ROM person, I wouldn't be surprised if someone makes more settings for Ambient Display eventually.

I did set it and use pattern as screen lock but I can still touch the notification bar.
Do I need to select password or pin?

Gestures not working

I've got gestures enabled in accessibility but when I have a notification and wave NY hand over sensor area it doesn't wake up or give me a view.
What could cause this?
I used the basic xml file with package disabler. Is there anything in there that could have caused it?

hi,
firstly, the wake up gesture works fine for me. No issues, I have stock Rom (920C device) not rooted and no apps disabled. A few tips to remember. If correct setting is enabled in Accessibility /Dexterity and interaction /Gesture wake up . You don't wave your hand actually, its more of a "slow motion effect /action" over the device /sensor, than a fast wave etc.
Also check some combination in Settings if it is set correctly.... eg Notification reminder and LED indicator (re notification light flashing etc) clashes with each other.
And yes,
if you play around with apps like Package Disabler you must expect that disabling certain system apps can break other apps depending on the one you disabled ?
Good luck
Thanks. Will check all of that.
There is no "Gesture wake up" in my stock rooted N9208. Only direct Call, smart alert, silent and screenshot are available.

That's a different thing, gesture wake up is in Dexterity and Accessibility.

edge lighting when screen off with or without AOD not working

Hi, anyone can figure out what may prevent edge lighting from working when screen off with or without AOD? How can I submit a system log or something to help you diagnose?
All settings is enabled for always and all apps, nothing I can think of that can block it... See screenshot
This has been an enigma since its introduction.

Bump, same facking problem for me.
When you enable edge lighting make sure you enable it on apps you want it to work on and then make sure apps is also enabled to send notifications in the settings aswell. I did notice some apps may not function with edge lighting but most of my apps works fine otherwise.
I forgot to update my solution. It's all working now. No help from Samsung and Samsung member community.
Basically, it will work with all apps, just make sure any " pop-up" setting is turn off as it conflicts with the edge lighting waking the phone with the pop-up.
To fix when screen is off, you Neff to go into app to turn off led notification or in the settings/ display/ led do it doesn't conflict when screen is off.
This, should fix when screen on and screen off. Some apps may be more persistent like WhatsApp and Facebook as it has I it's own pop-up and led settings. Good luck.

I don't use edge lighting as it's only one time and doesn't repeat like led as a reminder to check notification. If you're not looking at the screen then you won't see it again and since pop-up and led is off, you won't get notified so it's pointless.
You can go to the app and look for pop-up notification or light. And check, in system settings/ app/ notification

I have a weird issue... some chats doesn't work with edge lighting and others does... (screen off)

Kill the Always On Display

How can I toggle the AOD to be completely off? This is driving me nuts. I'm aware of the settings within the Motion Sense area of settings. The "show when nearby" seems to take, however no matter what I do the clock still appears no matter what as an AOD. I've tried disabling the following in different combinations to no avail:
Motion Sense
com.google.oslo
Pixel Ambient Services
com.google.intelligence.sense
Motion Sense Bridge
com.google.android.apps.motionsense.bridge
Even tried the clock app itself
com.google.android.deskclock
Whenever these are initially disabled it seems to work for a minute or so but then the clock pops back up on the AOD. I just want the toggles to work! This is for when I'm driving and my my phone is mounted where it faces me. I already have 2 clocks in my car and don't need a third it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Do you have Always On disabled in the Lock Screen settings?

Search for "always on" in settings and turn it off
display / lockscreen / always on - does not exist
Searching for "always on" yields no results.
I don't have a lock screen set as I don't need it, though I did try setting one temporarily to see if the option showed up, but nothing. That's how I used to do it on my note but they moved everything around on 10.

You really don't have always on under..settings/display/advanced/lock screen display....then scroll to the bottom??
Display, scroll all the way to the bottom, select lock screen display, bottom third of the screen you'll see Always on, toggle it off. You can still have it light up by tapping, lifting, or triggered by soli, in any combination if you wish.
edit.. Ninja'ed me Badge, it's there, he just missed it.

It's probably because you went around disabling apps. Enable the Pixel ambient Services.

With everything re-enabled and a hard reboot, I set a screen lock. Then went back to display and the "lockscreen" option was now available. I turned off AOD and then disabled the screen lock and it took. No more clock.
It seems as though the AOD toggle being buried in the lock screen options, which is only available when one is on will take no matter of a lock screen is set. So every time I want to change this I have to go through this process. I wish there was a Quick Settings shortcut for this.

Well it's not exactly meant to be toggled on and off often like the ones in the Quick Settings pulldown menu. The easiest and quickest way is just searching "Always on" in settings and you can actually toggle it right there as seen in the screenshot.

Also if you are not using the active edge for anything critical you might try button mapper by flar2 and see if one of the options can be set to it. Or maybe even on of the other options in his app will apply it.

I don't now and have never had a lock screen enabled on my phone and can and have always been able to enable or disable always on display. Unless you disabled some app affecting this as mentioned above it should be there for you too just as it is for the rest of us. You may want to look into that and see what's hanging you up.

I haven't been able to do it since it was virgin out of the box, the option just isn't there. Doing it on my old Note 8 was super easy it was right where it was supposed to be. Although I have found a workaround for anyone on the off chance I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Being rooted, I downloaded ShortcutMaster and used the app explorer and poked around until I found;
[Setup Wizard]
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard
tap and scroll down to;
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard.alwaysondisplay.AlwaysOnDisplayOptInActivity
Choosing [launch] triggers the screen from inital setup to toggle the AOD.
Set it as favorite, or Homescreen (on the paid version)
Launch Shortcut master each time to change it or use the homescreen icon shortcut.
The setting seems to take each time I've done it so far.
