Low mobile data rate - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi,
currently I'm using the latest dev Firmeware fw_gemini_miui_MI5Global_8.11.22_c5d7ee6745_8.0 with Havoc-OS 2.3[9.0] and have a mobile internet data rate by around 0,03 MB/s - Independent from any locations.
My local carrier is "Klarmobil" as a sub-brand of Telekom (Germany) with H+ (no LTE). I tried a lot with APN settings. I was a bit confused as normally after installing a new ROM a APN setting SMS is received to apply profile - Not with Android 9. So I called the support and did the APN settings by hand - Nothing changed.
Same issue with Resurrection Remix 7.0.0 based on Android 9 with same Firmware. You have any idea?
Regards,
Georg

Hi,
thanks for you reply. 3 more (maybe stupid) questions:
1. I was thinking that a non dev version lock the Bootloader again?
2. I always read something about the latest dev Version in the Rom section - Is this compatible with any Android 9 ROM?
3. Can I dirty flash the Firmware or need to do a clean wipe?
Regards

5. Tesla ROM (Android N)
6. AICP (Android N)
7. Cardinal AOSP ( Android N)

Steps to make Volte work

2. Extract the .tgz file.
3. Reboot your phone to bootloader/fastboot by clicking the power button and Vol down button simultaneously.
4. Open the extracted folder and click on "flash_all_except_data_storage.bat"(Run As Administrator).
5. Let the phone boot up (it can take upto 10 minutes)
6. Reboot to Custom Recovery like TWRP 3.0.2-0 for Redmi 2.
7. Now clear /system /data/ cache /Dalvik/ART Cache.
8. Now flash the custom ROM
9. Boot the custom ROM and skip the setup wizard (if you like) and go to Settings>SIM cards>Mobile Data. Select Jio 4G.
10. Go to Settings>Data Usage>Mobile/Cellular Networks>Preferred Network Type>LTE and also enable "Enhanced 4G LTE mode"
11. Go to Access point names create new APN.
i) . Name : JIO
ii). APN :jionet/jiodata
iii)APN Type :default (if it doesn't work change to ims)
iv)APN protocol : IPv4/IPv6
v) APN roaming protocol : IPv4/IPv6
vi) Port - 80
vii) Server - www.google.com
12.Click Save and select JIO as APN.
13*. Now go to Phone Dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#*>Phone Information>Turn on Volte provisioned flag and turn off IMS registration..
For increasing the Jio 4G speed, Use DNS manager + DNScrypt app on Google store and also change your band to 40. If you have a Qualcomm device then you need to do it by using QXDM and QPST software. For mediatek devices use Engineering mode. Jio is supported on three bands currently Band 3,5 and 40. Band 3 gives the best coverage while band 40 gives the maximum bandwidth and speed. The choice is yours. Also, for users under the welcome offer RJio has limited your maximum transfer rate and is still in beta testing mode. After complete launch Jio will completely be integrated into band 40 and cap on welcome offer users would be removed, until then this is the most what you can do.
*Only if Volte doesn't work.
#For Zephyr OS users : You can see "HD" written on your status bar, or you can see "Your phone is HD capable" as notification.

Both have Immortal Kernel so you have to flash your own custom kernel like Jerrica or Berserk or Octopus. My battery backup is just fine. Not good not bad

Bro, Not only volte..
Also, We're not able to run 4G internet.
The preferred network type includes only Auto/3G/2G..
No 4G.. that is the reason, internet and voLTE isn't working.
And we'll not get stable release, as this is ported by third party meizu devs, and they always release beta builds.
Earlier, I flashed Flyme 5.
In that version, I wasn't able to boot.
Whenever, I tried to setup my language/country.. it reboots.
These flyme os builds aren't much usable.
They're just for experiencing FlymeOs

the rom is goood but volte and data are not working
Data and 4g working for me
I got data working but no VoLTE. Besides, I am unable to flash any GApps. I removed a lot of bloatware from the system partition and tried a GApps package with 38 MB size but that too is not installing. Guess we need a 10 or even maybe 5 MB GApps package for this ROM lol. Apart from that, the Theme app crashes (can't even change wallpaper) and the stock keyboard is not good at all after coming from Gboard.
As for the UX, I must say MIUI is a whole lot better. This ROM is cramped with all sorts of bloatware which even MIUI doesn't have. No wonder the size is 735 MB even without GApps. It is best to avoid this ROM. This ROM is only usable if you don't use a Google account. On the plus side, animations are quite good.

*Depreciated* [Global/China] Dev/Stable/Alpha Firmware Packages for the Mi 6

Project depreciated! Leaving here for the time being.
See yshalsager's thread for automated firmware zips and quicker releases:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-6/development/firmware-xiaomi-mi-6-t3760924
Here will be the firmware packages from the latest Global/China MIUI ROMs for those of you using custom ROMs that require the firmware for radios etc to work.
I will try to keep it as up-to-date as possible so every time you need to update your ROM you can grab the newest firmware here and use it to keep firmware up-to-date as well.
Installation Instructions:
I recommend using firmware from the Stable builds, but the firmware from the other ROMs should be fine too. Let us know in the comments if you see any differences between them.
For Oreo ROMs use Oreo Firmware.
For Nougat ROMs use Nougat Firmware.
Follow advice from your ROM maintainer!

4. Other stuff you do in recovery

In theory it should be fine since it doesn't replace anything to do with /system.
In practice I'm not 100% sure as I've seen a few people mess up their installs by flashing firmware after ROM.
You can just flash firmware then dirty flash your ROM to be sure.
Kind of like if you were updating your ROM just using the zip version you already are on.

No its not necessary.
Nothing from the zip should affect the system partition.
However I recommend flashing the firmware before flashing your ROM eg with an update or dirty flash just to be 100% sure.
But many users choose to just flash the updated firmware over their ROM and it works just as well
Maybe I'm just OCD about my install proceedures

One of the latest ones
On LineageOS I'm using the latest stable firmware.
I haven't been able to update the firmware packages for the last week as I'm away ATM but will be back soon and can resume uploading them.
You can also make the zips yourself if you download the latest ROM from miui website and use one of mine as a template of what files to remove and what to leave.
And then compare the updater script to see what lines to remove.
Its really easy I'm just uploading for people that don't want to download an entire ROM

No sorry.
You can make it yourself very easily though by downloading the full package from end.muiu.com and then using one of my firmware packages as an example of what to remove and what to leave.
Then copy the updater-script from mine to yours or edit it to be the same and flash

I'm planning to use custom ROM like LOS, but everytime i flash, the mic always not working properly, for example when recording, my voice can't be recorded, but if i tap the mic, the tapping voice is recorded..in the MIUI 9 Stable and Beta, the voice can be recorded but we have to speak very closely to the mic and the voice result also very low..and when i tried to flash back to 8.2.2.0 the mic is working normally, so do u think it's the firmware problem?

Hey developer! @raghuvarma.ya i have a samsung on 7 pro bought in saudi. It asked for network unlock pin after inserting indian sim card. Took it out for repair, the repair guy installed another country's rom. Network unlock pin is now not displayed. The phone is working with indian sim but Fingerprint sensor and many features aren't working. Will reverting back to saudi firmware ask the network unlock pin again?
have you tried flashing the latest firmware for your device? Use odin after exporting your user files(for backup). I flashed different firmware already for G600FY and haven't got any issue about sim(maybe because the device I have is an openline model).
@Raghu varma Please mention the kernel source used.
@Raghu varma, in this ROM it is possible to use the SD card as internal memory?

This rom has few bugs so the dev @Raghu varma developed INS v7.0 (it too has camera issue but got a fix). Luckily we're constantly getting new roms for this device and those're almost stable (except proximity senser).
I'd recommend you to goto the link (check your inbox ) and download latest A-Z rom or Note 8 rom or Anniyan rom.
proximity sensor, google assistant
can you add proximity sensor during call screen instead of double tap to unlock. and this rom have not google assistant enabled.
the battery is draning very fast. these 3 thing only required by rom. on the other hand this rom is very smooth and fast.
i request u to add this features.

The proximity sensor bug isn't fixed yet but devs are working on it.
About the google assistant, since Google app was removed from /system/priv-app/ while cleaning the rom, you need to put it back there using any method [ie. using file manager in TWRP or using any Systemizer app] and it'll work fine.
Newer version of this rom is reported to have good battery backup. Try it out.

LineageOS for the SM-J530F ( J5Y17LTE )

Hello everybody,
i am looking for a working LineageOS rom for my Samsung Galaxy SM-J530F.
The only version that works for me is lineage-15.1-20180510-UNOFFICIAL-j5y17lte.
( The SIM is recognized and rooting is also very easy. However, the rom sometimes hangs up and I often had the problem that the mobile phone hangs up and all files are deleted after a normal restart ( no factory reset ).
Maybe there is someone here who can recommend a Lineage or AOSP rom, which works for the most part. I have already spied on several LineageOS versions but unfortunately the SIM is not recognized in all of them.
I thank you all and wish you a nice weekend! nice greetings from Germany.

I thank you all and wish you a nice weekend! nice greetings from Germany.

Nip over to the j7xx pages, they are far better updated and most of the roms work fine on my j53fm 10 Q for J5 J7… | Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017)
I am currently running android 11 on my j5 with no major issues.
This thread shows LineageOS 20.x support for many J5. Unfortunately, j5y17lte is not supported.
Can anyone explain what are the differences between say j5ylte and j5y17lte, and how difficult it is to edit the sources in order to support them?
I'm a developer but not a mobile devices one so I'm wondering how much work is in there and how to get started specifically for porting j5y17lte.
