Question about possible SIM locked SM-G973U - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

So, I have been trying to get a Verizon Galaxy S10 working on straight talk.
I have a previous S8 that works just fine and even says "Tracfone" upon reboot once activated.
The s10 was sent via the Samsung B2B program and I put in a Verizon sim and it activated right away on a line that did not have a contract at all on a business account.
I went ahead and deactivated the line and tried the Straight Talk sim in the S10 and keep getting a message that states "Sorry, your device cannot be activated on another carrier right now."
Have tried texting "APN" to 611611 and calling straight talk multiple times. Finally, I managed to call up Verizon and they stated there was a spot that said "Locked" on their side and spoke to a tier 2 rep and they mentioned that they "unlocked" my device and it should be fine. The phone still keeps showing the same message so i tried popping in an active Verizon SIM thinking that would help and it is still doing it.
Funny thing is everything appears to work for a minute with talk, text, and data then this message keeps appearing making me think the device is still locked.
Anyone else have a similar issue trying to get straight talk working on their S10?

I guess at this point I am just curious if this is typical behavior of a device being sim locked to this specific carrier. I was under the impression that you usually get an option to enter a code to try and unlock the sim is why I am asking.

The S10's in general are not locked unless it was pre-paid. You said you got yours through the B2B channel? I have an S10 as well and I am running a Metro PCS SIM as we speak. I believe there is a condition in which the device can't have a new SIM inserted, Ill ask around and see if I can recall what that is.

OK, official answer is its SIM locked for 90 days. You have that issue because Straight Talk is a wholesaler of VZW services. If you use a different provider, such as T-Mobile, AT&T, etc. you would probably not have that issue.

This is what I was afraid of.
The tier 2 Verizon rep seemed more than helpful and said they definitely "unlocked" on his side.
At this point I will simply wait the 90 days and try again since I don't see a work around making its way out before then.
The Samsung B2B in my case is because my work is a Samsung house with about 10k smartphones and tablets and it offers me 1 free Verizon Samsung device for testing/review/company approval.
This device is NOT tied to our Verizon account nor Knox account and is usually sent directly from Samsung.
I have gotten Google devices the same way. This s10 appears to be the first one that has given me this issue as my note9, S9+, S9, s8+, and her current s8 do not do this at all and they were all b2b devices as well.

Sorry for the confusion on this. I think I have the right answer finally. I had to consult with a few folks that would know for sure. So, here's the reality. Verizon does not want you to be able to take your VZW LTE device to another carrier, however they can't legally SIM lock them (at least not for that purpose). That was a result of some agreements that were made with the FCC during a previous merger. So, they DO SIM lock them, ironically, but they basically label it as fraud prevention. So, the way they get around it is that they SIM lock the device for the first 24 hours after activation, however, you can call and have it unlocked. The official answer is that it is in fact SIM locked, and you should be able to call them and have it unlocked.

In case anyone wanted a follow up on whether or not Verizon auto unlocks these after 30 or 60 days the answer appears to be a big fat NO.
This S10 still appears locked and cannot be used with any other sim card than Verizon.

When you get a phone through Samsung for a particular carrier you still get a locked phone for that carrier. I researched this during my searches for a Note 10. Because I use another MVNO and do not wanna switch just to get a newer phone.
I did find Verizon's policy which you have stated.... and my experience from the past is that you have to make sure it is unlocked while you are still on that carrier as a legit & paid up customer.
I also from the past , get this...... On Sprint.. I was with them for years starting on the Cool Sero plan. (Not cool anymore) after contracts were up I would just buy newer phones. Well.... I left Sprint & had a bill. I just had some employment issues at the time. Then it was with a Note 4 that I DID NOT BUY FROM THEM. Having a bill.... they blacklisted that phone... lol. I still have it cause well it's the last Note with an IR blaster & there is still a community for it working to get newer software on it. You can put Pie Android on it.
So..... if you still have Verizon try factory resetting the phone then pop that SIM in. It should still work for Verizon. If you still run into that message. Another option is to flash the Verizon firmware onto. A kind of rewriting over it with Verizon again. Then try it. If you can get passed it... unlock it then with Verizon. & make sure the time frame their unlocking policy states is passed.

Also.... something I just confirmed. You will need to get a straight talk sim card for tmobile. You may have a sim card from them for Verizon I your phone now. Someone mentioned Straight Talk as Verizon which is true but they are also Sprint Tmobile ATT. BUT.... to get the most out of your phone feature wise you will need to grab a straight Talk tmobile sim card. Tmobile is more liberal than the rest. You more likely have a better time getting wifi calling and stuff to work.

Does anyone have a non blacklisted imei for SMG973U and a way to flash it onto an old device? Someone sold me a device that wasn't paid for and Verizon won't fix it

Is it locked or blacklisted? Their policy is 60 days and that's required by law so ?*

Verizon Re-activation issues after Plan change.

So like everyone else, I bought my Nexus Carrier Free online and just popped in my sim from my M8 and it worked.......up until 30 mins ago when I called in to make a plan change. For some reason, I could not make a plan change online so I had to call in. They recognized that my phone was not a VZW phone and I believe took it off the account to make the plan change.
Now it pops up with a message that says Sign into Verizon wireless, and your Device can not be activated. Not sure what to do at this point.
I have already tried restarting the phone and no luck. I think if I pop my sim in my old M8 it might work but I am stuck at work and cant access it until I am off. Any ideas?

You can't make plan changes with a non-Verizon device tied to your account. They probably moved the sim to make the changes. If you're lucky you can reactivate the sim in your M8 but I'd bet you're going to have to get a new sim. Next time just take the sim out of your Nexus, put it in the M8, make your plan changes, and then switch back. I've done this a few times with an old Moto X.
That's what I figured. Well as long as they don't block my Nexus from network access, I should be alright. I hope at least. I wait till I get home and keep my fingers crossed.
Glad I saw this. I will be making a plan change before swapping to the nexus when it arrives
UPDATE. NEEDED TO ACTIVATE MY OLD PHONE WITH NEW SIM. If you want to make a plan change, pop your sim into your old phone, make the change, then into the Nexus,
I have an major issue, I don't have a Verizon device to use to activate my Sim on my nexus 6. I have service already but my Sim got damaged and the device I used to activate my Sim card the Sim card port is damaged, which is preventing my new Sim activation. I don't know anyone with a Verizon device I can use to activate the new Sim. Guess I'll just cancel my vzw service. I can't win for loosing.

Thats wierd for my store they know me as the rooter (hence the name), and when they see me coming in. I bring in my nexus 6, and the sales rep just takes one of their in store phones activate the sim that way and then i pop it in the nexus 6. Done that twice now with no problems.

That was my issue in the thread referenced - after failing to get beyond the website, people on the phone (including Tech Support) and people in the store, I obtained someone's Moto X in order to activate the nano SIM on my line and then swapped it to the Nexus 6. The other option was to wait until Verizon recognizes the phone (hopefully soon), but I decided to do it early because their SIM activation process is more of a hassle than it needs to be and wanted to thwart Verizons controls, in just this little way .
And yet, some folks - especially towards the current end of that topic - have been saying that they found friendly and helpful Representatives who helped them activate directly with the Nexus 6. I don't know how that was accomplished due to the system checks in place, though.
Finding someone who can lend a phone just to activate the SIM on your line might be a consideration.

Iv asked everyone that I know if they had a Verizon 4g unactivated phone I could use to activate my Sim with and no luck. Just to be sure the phone that I need to borrow needs to be unactivated meaning if its already activated then it won't work right?

Hm, someone else might know better than I would, but I've moved phones temporarily off an active line - replacing them with an older 3G backup phone with completely different SIM - in order to use the newly freed phone to activate my new SIM on another line on behalf of a different phone. Then I just reactivate the 4G phone back on its original line after putting its original SIM back in.
For the Nexus 6, I still have the Moto X on hand from the nano SIM activation and it no longer shows up in my account for the line - instead, I get that "unrecognized" phone message from Verizon with no picture. For all I know, this Moto X is no longer considered active on my line or in this account, so might work for your line activation purposes if you're in the NY metro region, actually. PM if interested.

I live in KY,I really do appreciate the offer I would take u up on it if I lived close by were I could meet up with ya and activate my Sim then hand you back the device. It will probably take me a week or so to activate a Sim because my local Verizon store reps are assholes.

Iv seen that thread already. Thank you though for trying to help I appreciate it very much.
Finally got my nexus activated. I had to go to Walmart and buy a 4g prepaid LG transpyer I then used my imei from my old note 2. I'm now gonna return the LG to Walmart and get my 80$ back.
Same Issue Today
My finance saw Verizon cutting the data plan by $10's so she jumped on it and kicked my phone off the Verizon network in the process. Had to go to the Verizon store and get the guy to grab a return phone, program said SIM and pop it into a phone. Too bad my backup phone doesn't take the small SIMS...

Buying S6 Active Unlocked?

I'm very interested in the S6 Active, but I live in Canada. I am wondering if AT&T sells the phone unlocked if I buy it outright? Actually, would AT&T even sell me the phone if I am not a current customer? If not, does anyone know a way around that?

Yes if you pay full price they'll defiantly sell it to you, pretty sure they'll unlock too since your buying it outright.
I think the Canadian Carriers will get it soon - they Carried the S5 Active. Just wait..

They might get it... but last year, the S5 didn't come out until about October. I'm not sure I'm willing to wait 4 month for the possibility that Canada might get the phone. Hence my questions.
Thanks for the reminder regarding the LTE bands, I'll check to make sure it is compatible
EDIT: Luckily, AT&T and Rogers mostly sure the same LTE bands, so should be fine there
If the phone is paid for in full then AT&T has to grant you an unlock code - you just go to their website and request it. I requested it in the evening and received the code the next morning.
https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/
Just make sure you choose that you are not an AT&T customer.
Can confirm the above. Picked mine up from best buy requested unlock code from AT&T and had it next morning. O am using it on T-Mobile.

What about the boot loader?
I'm curious if the unlocked version comes without the AT&T boot loader. I have the Moto X, unlocked through AT&T but still cannot remove the boot loader. Can use the phone anywhere that offers the same GSM frequencies though.

Nope. Bootloader is the same on all S6 Actives. Because it is an AT&T exclusive.

S6 Active in UK on Vodafone
Hi, I too am very interested in getting an S6 Active (replace old S4 Active). I'm in the UK, on Vodafone who use LTE 7, 20 [2.6GHz, 800MHz] for 4G I think, which are all in the S6 specs. So if I got an AT&T S6 Active unlocked, anyone care to advise if it should work fine in the UK on Vodafone?
Thanks very much in advance.
I'm getting told a different story...
I've spoken to best buy and all my local Att shops and they all say they will not sell a galaxy s6 active without adding it to an existing Att account or creating a new one. Then they told me that I couldn't get it unlocked until I've had the plan for anywhere from 2-6 months. I can't get a straight story about the delayed unlocking. I have T-Mobile and would LOVE to purchase the phone outright and unlock it and use it right away on T-Mobile. How did you guys buy the phones without having a plan added? Thanks!
Did you use someone else's account?

How did you get them to sell you one without activating it and adding it to a current ATT account or forcing you to sign up for service with them? I called and they said that even if you purchase it outright, they MUST add it/create a new ATT account before you leave. So lame...

The ATT store will not sell it unless you have an account. When I went into best buy they said no problem. Just ask for an S6 active and tell them you want to but it out right. They don't care. If the salesman says you need to have an active line ask for another one. When I brought mine I got a $100 gift card for buying the phone outright, was not expecting it and it was a nice perk.
For unlocking ATT policy, you can find it on their website, states that if you are not an ATT customer and have a phone that is not activated on ATT and is not black listed that they will unlock it for free. I just filled out the form and the next day i had the unlock code. You can Google the policy for exact wording. They will not unlock it in store.

That is great, now... can you pleae report how well the S6 active from AT&T works on the T-mobile network? How are the LTE speeds? and the 3g as well.. as I think it misses some of Tmobiles bands. How is the calling quality on T-mobile and reception? Does it have the new band 12 compatible with the new Tmobile band 12? Do you know if it they have root access already? and of course... what about wifi calling? I am assuming this feature does not work with this phone. We appreciate answers to those questions.

The phone is compatible with attached t-mobile bands except 12. Band 12 does not concern me that much since I am an in area that does not have it. Speeds otherwise are the same as tmobile.
There is no WiFi calling option as this is exclusive to t-mobile. I am keeping an old phone tmobile around for when I travel international and use WiFi calling.

Received the unlock code and it worked like a charm, however everything else has been an issue. T-mobile set me up with a sim card and activated it and I can make calls fine, but the data is TERRIBLY slow. As in, I used to get 10mbps easily all around Charlotte (my home city) but now I'm getting MAYBE .88mbps. Also, the top where it says "lte" keeps disappearing and just showing the bars and the data cuts off completely. I'll make a call, and then after I hang up, the symbol comes back for a little while. I've reset the APN settings, done them manually with some info I found online, but it's still an issue. If anyone could help me, that'd be amazing.
Also, not software related, the actual screen has an issue. It's not the worst thing ever, but in direct sunlight there is a box around the screen about .25 inches in from the edge. It's almost like the glue they used to attach the glass to the screen isn't clear, but nearly clear. It shows up best on a white background with direct sunlight and the back-light turned up all the way, but it's visible on everything but black. VERY annoying.
I'm going to keep working with it (have factory reset twice now) for a couple of hours, but if it doesn't get figured out I have to return it. I use the phone for work and I literally cannot be without a stable connection.

I called T-mobile and they had me manually enter 2 different sets of settings to try and get it to work, and the 2nd set was stable but wasn't fast. Then she pushed my device some settings (didn't know they could do that) and I installed them when prompted. That's the settings I'm using now. The connection is stable, but speeds are not like what they were (coming from an S5 so missing band 12 isn't the issue I unless I'm mistaken). Thank you so much for your help.
Here are the screenshots. My old phone used "fast.tmobile.com" but this one uses epc.tmobile.com. Not sure what the difference is. http://imgur.com/a/5pddQ

Galaxy Notes 8 Unlocked Version vs T-Mobile Version

Which is the better version for Galaxy Note 8 when purchasing directly from Samsung.com.
Should I get the unlocked version or the T-Mobile version? Which version get the update more frequently and faster? I read from reddit forum once that if you purchase the T-mobile verion directly from Samsung, it will be locked to T-mobile. And there is no way to unlock through T-Mobile? Is it correct?
Thank you very much
You don't owe them any money on it, so they should be able to give you the code.
The big difference will be in loss of functionality.
Unlocked versions don't work with carrier specific features like WiFi calling and in some cases, tethering.
It's one of the reasons why I ordered the AT&T version instead of the unlocked version.
I actually use WiFi calling a lot.

If you buy the carrier specific and get the unlock code do you still get the wifi calling and hotspot

the unlocked variant will not have video calling for sure, and no carrier specific apps. It should still have wifi calling though. my unlocked s7 edge had wifi calling, just no video calling. keep in mind that you may be able to flash the t mobile firmware on the unlocked variant like in the past on the s7 and s8's. totally safe without tripping knox. now if you get the t mobile branded note 8, you be able to unlock it after 40 days. long as you don't owe a balance to t mobile.

people think you don't have wifi calling but you do in the settings. they wifi calling toggle was missing but the settings are still there in the settings menu.

On my S8+, I have the AT&T version that I got from Samsung. I got it unlocked through AT&T. The Wifi calling and HotSpot both still work.
Also i beleive there's a work around for the video calling on the Unlocked s8+ versions. So there will be one for the Note 8.

may not have 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM technologies
I believe that there is a question whether the unlocked version has 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM technologies.
the 8s t-mobile had 4x4 mimo and 256 qam whereas the unlocked version of the 8s did not have those features

It comes with the Sprint higher bands so maybe the other carrier bands will be there.
I got the Note8 from Samsung because of the Note 7 discount. Initially I was going to get an unlocked version as I'll be travelling internationally early next year. But I switched to the TMo version because that will ship Sept 11 while the unlocked version will ship Sept 21. No other reason.
Yes, I am that anxious to get it early.

Doubt the T-Mobile version will ever be rooted, so that is something to take into account when considering the unlocked version vs TMobile.
Not sure I would want to pay $900 for a phone that I can't root.
well I bought a T mobile variant from Samsung. T mobile rep told me today that they can unlock it as soon as I get it in. even if I owe Samsung money. long as you don't owe money to t mobile, they can unlock it. so my previous statement was false.

I have a feeling u must of spoken to a newbie rep... they will give u a hassle and probably say to put $200 or $300 down if u owe money on the phone.. but they have been given smoother unlocks lately if the phone has been paid off by sometimes unlocking after a few days to a week...

My S8 Plus, I bought off eBay, the person bought it of Samsung.com
when I got it in June, the next day I went to a T-Mobile store and put insurance, and I tried to do the device unlock and it didn't work, went to my account to check the phone status and the imei didn't show, and till today it doesn't show but it has been added, and it doesn't unlock status either my account,
but I called T-Mobile to add the imei and after trying to convince the rep to please put the order in, she said call Samsung, I said politely please I don't want to go through a runaround, they will tell me to call u, when u get the phone they release it with the unlock code, happened to me with HTC years ago, I said speak with ur manager, she put me on hold for a while, and they put my request in to add the imei, I waited 3 days then called back cause I didn't see the imei added, but T-Mobile said the order went through and they can see my imei, and trying to convince another newbie rep, he passed me to his supervisor to my surprise without getting disconnected, the supervisor gave me his word he would take care of it and that I wouldn't have to call back, I tried the device unlock 2 times a day.. the 3rd day it unlocked.. took about 6 to 7 days.. this phone unlock was the fastest ever for me in T-Mobile..

It is quite a hassle to unlock it. I'm not so sure that I will be that lucky like you are. Let see
Note that T-mobile requires you to have the device active on their line before you can request to Unlock the device. So if you aren't a Tmo customer and plan to just get that phone and unlock it, you're in for a surprise. Here's the bigger question, and it may be my ignorance so please be kind. Why do you want to unlock a TMO branded phone ASAP, if you are a TMO customer?
Unlock requirements
We provide mobile device unlock codes free within two business days (or provide further information about timing) for eligible devices.
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1588
Device eligibility is determined as follows:
The device must be a T-Mobile device.
The device must not be reported to T-Mobile as lost, stolen, or blocked.
The account associated with the device must not be canceled, and be in good standing.
You have requested no more than two mobile device unlock codes per line of service in the last 12 months.
The device must satisfy all the Postpaid or Pay in Advance (Prepaid) Unlocking terms outlined below.
T-Mobile may request proof of purchase or additional information in its discretion and certain other exceptions may apply.

No, I dont want to unlock it right away. In the future, I will travel out of the country. I will need to unlock it to use it when I'm out of the country. I'm just afraid that I cannot unlock them at all because I read some posts from Reddit. People said that T-mobile refuses to unlock their T-mobile phone purchasing from Samsung.com. And it is easier to re-sell it in the future if I need to

I unlock them right away, cause I paid for my phone, I want it unlocked that's all... they shouldn't be locked anyways, for 900 to 1000 dollars, be for real, and then they want u to have it active for 40 days and paid off, one time they made me pay around 200 extra, I told them I gonna pay it off in 2 weeks, was waiting on my check, and paid 400, they send the unlock code, now its with the device unlock feature but not for the Note 4, the device unlock didn't come with that model.
I travel outside to the DR and use a local sim, not to get charged 20 cents a minute.
you can sell it for a few more dollars when selling it. tmobile phone r better for the frequencies handle almost all carriers internationally and US.
just be polite, tell them to add the imei if its from Samsung, just say they told me to call you, please I don't want to go through a runaround.. blah blah,,, but politeness will get u sooner most of the times...

Unlocked T-Mobile Note 8 on Sprint

I have this same question asked in the T-Mobile forum but wasn't sure if that's the right spot.
I have been reading a lot of different things about doing this with no definitive answer. It looks like, as of recently, it should be as simple as popping in the sprint Sim card and it should work but I want to be sure before hand. Are there any downsides at all about using tmobile Note 8 on Sprint?

To be truthful, there is most likely no downsides of using a Tmobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on the Sprint Network. You should be good to go! :good:
It won't work unfortunately. I also believed it was as simple as sticking an Activated Sprint SIM in the T-Mo N8, but Sprint has a different system. Another user was having issues with a VZW N8, so I did some research, and even though hardware wise they are all the exact same phone, Sprints system will only accept IMEIs from Sprint N8s and factory unlocked N8s. An IMEI from any other carrier will not activate.
So glad I have T-Mobile.

There have been others that successfully activates...it will just show a generic pic and some features may not work...otherwise Sprint's byod would be a bust...some iemi's might not be accepted do to contract issues, or being internationally unlocked instead of SIM unlocked...other issues may be the cause as well..but others with ATT, Verizon, and T-Mobile devices have activated on Sprint or other carrier with just a SIM...adding IEMI to Sprint database just ensures working features...although, some have had to use a non-active Sprint IEMI to activate their non-Sprint device...still, less fuss with swapping out to a Sprint or factory unlocked device...good luck

Not according to another Sprint user here. He tried everything and it wouldn't work. Do some research, especially on Reddit. Unless it's an unlocked 950U1 or a Sprint Note 8, it will not activate on their network.
I thought the same as you, until I researched it.

Sprint's website states that BYOD is only accepting IMEIs from the Special Edition of the Note 8...no carrier restrictions...same as S8 and S8+...that restriction may lift after acceptable number of sales of Sprint devices...(1yr later)...but no help now...
Changing imei as I suggested before does not work for Sprint either...just gsm carriers...at least the paid service....and I do research all the time...and if you get a rep that will do it...they can...they just won't because of proprietary sales restrictions...according to Sprint's internal whitesheets...more reliable than online blogs...I have gotten Sprint to Activate a Verizon S7 edge when they weren't supposed to...you just have to go through hoops....they are picky with newer devices though...power with persuasion....
If anyone is still wondering, if you flash the (all carrier no bloat ware) unlocked version of the Note 8 firmware it will work with Sprint. You just need a compatible Sprint sim card. That sim card model number needed is 416Q, same as Galaxy S8 sim.

I just had a chat with Sprint online support. They we're able to load my Unlocked Tmo branded Note 8 IMEI to the system. They said it is ready for activation. I will pickup a Sprint Sim card later today or tomorrow and report back.
I can confirm that T-Mobile Note 8 will work on Sprint. When I put the new Sprint Sim in it change the splash page and add Sprint apps. It removed all T-Mobile apps
Do you have access to all the Sprint bands?
Which SIM did you buy and where?
Just ordered my two Sprint Kickstarter Sim cards. Should be here on Tuesday, porting in from T-MOBILE. Will be using them on our TMO Note 8 devices.

I think the phone has all bands. I also tried my Verizon Sim card from my work phone and the Note 8 downloaded all of the Verizon apps and I was able to make calls. It even showed the Verizon splash screen when I turned it on.
Here is a pic of the Sim card packaging. I got it from my local Sprint store.
All works fine. Or so it seems. Connected to band 41 I think currently. Amazing how the Note 8 reconfigure itself.

Not bad, not as fast as TMO but then again not as expensive. $15 is $15 , right?
Sometimes, my browsing slows right down. Even on hand 41. Loading pages like BBC etc, it stalls.

I must agree with you. The network is a lot slower than T-Mo. I have a Sprint branded G7 I got from Swappa and it performs the same as T-MO Note 8 I ported over. For $15 per month I can't complain either.
Indeed, we get what we pay for. I'd however never spend $60 plus on Sprint unlimited plan if it were like this.
Moral of story, Sprint ain't worth more than $20 per month.

Pixel 5 sold by 'Visible'

I've just submitted an order to buy Pixel 5 from 'Visible' (a US carrier, Verizon based MVNO), and now i am kinda thinking... i should have asked about it here first. Visible's rep has promised (on chat) their phones are unlocked, so this shouldn't be an issue, but are they carrier-customized in any way or form? Anyone here got any experience? I am sure there is still some time window i can cancel this.
The reason i went on it is because of their "buy it, and get a free wireless charger at activation and a $200 gift card after 2 month of service" (Google it for more details), with a rather attractive plan (in US terms).
It's hard to know for sure. Some of the MVNO's have customized firmware on their phones and some don't. From what I've seen their phones are supposed to be unlocked. The only negative I've seen on them is than any streaming you do is only 480P.

I don't care all that much about streaming, also, if i really, REALLY want to stream something in high res, i can probably VPN from the phone into my home network (or into a commercial VPN server). Anyway, my current check list when the phone arrives is currently - check for SIM lock on both physical SIM and eSIM, check if OEM unlock available and not grayed out (unrelated to SIM locking, but there are some rare reports on this), check if the "gap" isn't too bad, test the proximity sensor, check if there is any carrier bloatware on it. Did i miss any important points/popular issues?
Sounds like a good deal.
Visible is NOT technically an MVNO. It is completely owned and operated by Verizon. I've heard good things from people that use it.
I would guess the phone you receive would be the Verizon variant, but that's completely a guess.

I hope not, and the order confirmation does explicitly mentions "GA01316-US", which is an unlocked, non-Verizon model.
Is Visible an MVNO? I suppose, despite being owned by Verizon, its still a separate company, which doesn't operate its own mobile towers, so i guess it technically is an MVNO after all.
Anyway, will post here after i receive the device. Would be kinda disappointing if its a Verizon model (i may want to root at some point, not exactly a nice thing to have a bootloader you can't unlock). Would be a showstopper if its SIM-locked or even just eSIM locked, i am going to verify that by putting my old Cricket SIM in before activating theirs, and also loading a Ubigi profile onto an eSIM, and if its locked, and they can't unlock it for me, the device is going back. I've EXPLICITLY asked a rep about this after all.
BTW, judging by a Google search that produces mostly Reddit results, Visible sells mostly unlocked devices (seemingly all of them except Visible-exclusives).
It should not be a Verizon varient, it should be unlocked.

Actually just registered an account to answer your question. Got a pixel 5 from the "Visible" deal by porting a number in. The model number is identical to the the unlocked one sold from Google store. It bootloader unlockable, so already unlocked and put in magisk and stuff. (It is carrier unlocked as well) Enjoy the deal!
Mint says they only stream 480p too but I can simply select 720p on up on my Pixel 2 and I get a bump, no VPN required.
Visible has good offers but the service is no good. At least in my area. I cannot wait to go back to AT&T. Verizon has fast coverage but AT&T is more consistent. I tried it for the $100 promotional credit but I will be going back to my original provider.
