Hi guys. Just upgraded from an original Touch to a Diamond. Before I start setting it up, I went to HTC's site to get the latest updates.
I love cusotmizing my device with themes, pic etc, but I am not into flashing cooked roms (yet).
HTC has 2 rom upgrades on their site. One from like July last year and one from Jan of this year.
When I enter my S/N it says my device does not support this rom???
I have a Diamond P3700
The current rom is Rom Base 1.93.422.4 Dated July 18th 2008
Radio 1.09.25.23
Am, I missing something? Was the January 09 update not for some Diamonds?
I know when you flash its like a hard reset, so I want to have the latest official rom on my device before I start putting in all my info.
Anyone have this issue???
thanks!
Mike,
if you got your device from a mobile operator or have a "branded" phone (T-Mobile, Vodafone, Verizon, Orange, whatever), you'll probably have no access to updates from the HTC website. Operators make some changes to the ROM (themes, settings, applications) so they reserve the right to select which updates they make available to their customers. (Booooo.)
In that case, the only thing you can do is ask your operator (visit their website) if there are any updates available.
You'll have unrestricted access to HTC's updates only if you have a "free" device.

FYI : Bell is currently working on a ROM version with HTC guys. It should be out somewhere during this year. (I hope so, because the ROM Bell gives is really retarded)
I have a unbranded unlocked phone and have the same problem. Support replied that the 2.03 ROM is not yet available for Eastern Europe phones (my case by the looks of it). No info on release date for us though.
There is a new Touch Diamond ROM posting in HTC website here:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportViewNews.aspx?dl_id=483&news_id=68
You may input your serial number to see whether this new ROM suitable for your device or not.
Same here
I've tried to download the new ROM but get a out of service message. Someone must have this ROM and can give access to it?
Thanks
upgrading ROM
my experience with upgarding via HTC website.
i have a HTC Artemis + HTC Touch Diamond, both came with English WM OS.
Bought both in mainland China though they both imported, Artemis via Taiwan, and Touch Diamond via HK.
when i tried to obtain latest ROM via HTC HK website last week of Feb 2009, basically i could only download the RUU 2.03 CHT_CHS ROM. i was not allowed to download the English language version of the ROM. Here's HTC explanation.
The two phones were shipped via the original HTC agents in both countries with HTC CHT (Traditional Chinese) ROM's. Even though i bought both phones in mainland China with English ROM's. (Obviously the store or a supplier on the mainland had flashed the English HK ROM's).
Basically HTC's view is that flashing the ROM's with any other ROM outside what it shipped with OEM voids the warranty (if one is not careful, one can also brick the phone too!) LOL
Interestingly this means that my new phones were void of warranty initially anyway the day i bought them, since i bought them from the dealer with English version ROM (official HK English ROM), though both phones were meant to be CHT ROM's. If i sent either phone back to their respective HTC service depts. artemis to Taiwan or Touch Diamond to HK, i would have been out of luck claiming warranty!
(anyway i got my hands on the official HK/Taiwan English ROM's and flashed my phones myself... HTC have been a fat lot of use over any technical support issues i have contacted them about in the past).
Note that not all ROM's are the same, service providers and manufacturers can decide what is and what isn't included in their respective ROM, which consequently locks the phone to that ROM and any future updates. Even though one may think they are buying an unlocked phone, with no restrictions etc. how certain can you be of how it was shipped ex-factory, or the route that the phone took before arriving in store?
OP, it sounds to me as though you have a phone that had been altered somehow before you bought it, and is not supported for the upgrade ROM you want. The same situation that applies in my case.
One way to check is try downloading all the different ROM's there are on all the different HTC region/country websites using your serial number... sooner or later you will find the right ROM even you may not want it, but at least you will know the status of how your phone was setup ex factory... because if the ROM was changed somewhere between ex-factory and the store without HTC's okay then your phone is void of warranty (unless you flash it back to OEM).
sinned69 is right, you can't just go to any HTC site and download a ROM, your serial number matches a certain region and you must go to that HTC region site, from there you will be able to download the ROM. Where (which country) did you buy the phone, or do you know where it came from? If you know this information, then just go to that HTC region site.

By the end of January, I called HTC hotline. They said they'll upload East EU version next week. It's March and I can't download anything. How do you think, isn't it time to remind HTC has to release a East EU rom?
No luck-
I tried downloading the newest HTC update from Feb 09-- still says your device is not supported.
I downloaded the file using a provided serial in another thread for the WWE version.
Can I use this file to flash my rom????
My diamond is an UNBRANDED and UNLOCKED version.
It's a 1.93.422.4 WWE currently...
Any idea if this will work ok for me?????
HTC Diamond in South Africa
Although I am a member of the HTC europe club, I do not have access to the 2.03 Jan release ROM at this stage.
The reason for this is that the SA agents have still not had the ROM approved by our Network Operators, so the HTC Club site continues to post the old Rom.
Once the approval is given, HTC will post the new ROM for us to upgrade.
HTC uses the serial numbers to control who gets what ROM upgrades.
Our phones are HTC branded and not network locked. It is illegal for networks to lock phones in SA.
Hello
I have Touch Pro2 World Wide Edition (WWE) version, I can't find WM 6.5 ROM for WWE in HTC website, but I downloaded WM 6.5 ROM for European version from htcpedia.com, can I install it on my TP2 WWE with no problems?
I really need your help.
Many thanks
hi think you have a cdma device right sprint verizon so dont installl a gsm rom on cmda device you whil brick it check this tutorial by dash

No, you're wrong, I have World Wide Edition (WWE) with GSM and accpets any SIM card.
He is not wrong. There is one GSM version and another CDMA/GSM version. So better look that guide, both versions support GSM, but only one CDMA, that one is CDMA version and you need CDMA ROMs for it. You rly don't want to put wrong ROM on it...

yeah thats why they call it the worldwide edition or world phone, if he flash a wrong rom he can brick it
So it's better to wait for the W6.5 ROM for worldwide edition, but they're too late.
But GSM phones usually have the "WWE" tag, I think some of you guys are confusing things with the CDMA "Worldphone" (Rhod-W).
The sure way to tell is to see what model number it is, e.g. RHOD100, RHOD210, RHOD500 etc. This is printed near the serial number, under the battery (or on the bootloader screen if you go into bootloader mode).
I don't know where you're looking on the HTC website, but there's a GSM ROM here, that might be the one you found anyway.

yeah thats a way you can tell also, but cdma is a worldphone whit gsm slot not confusing at al if you do some research, a gsm rhodium is not a worldphone
so he has to be real shore before flashing the wrong rom or its bricked

Agreed, but I think you might be confusing things by mentioning "worldwide edition" (back in post 5 of this thread), because the GSM English phones are normally "WWE". I think you mean "worldphone" in this instance, as you've said above.
Is there a dutch stock ROM for Vodafone? I want to send it back for repairs but I can't find the stock RUU...
Please help, I will donate to the one with the working solution!
Roms HTC Legend Branded and unbranded versions (HTC, Vodafone, Bell Mobility, Fastweb, etc.)

U: shipped P: shipped
Greetings.
Well..none of the ROMS are made for my Legend..
Thanks for the link though
in this site are all roms for all htc legends, you must do Goldcard and execute RUU.exe in Fastboot usb mode, if you have another version you can "downgrade" version and install one these, and update to your versiĆ³n later.
The rom you are looking for is probably here on this site, but Vodafone does not derive exclusively roms for a site, it is normal that one of them is the same as looking, for example, I am Spanish and the version that comes to our legends are the same RUU.Vodafone the UK version ... 1.32 ..., which also serves to Germany and noticed that also comes the Dutch language. Get off that version and try installing it, I'm pretty sure it is seeking, in this version then you can upgrade to a superior such as the Vodafone version 2.05.
I guess you know that you can install a lower version which is due to perform the method of "Downgrade" check this forum post about "Downgrade Legend" to install one of these versions if your version is more current than trying install, for example if you have version 2.05 Vodafone ... " have to do what I tell you to install the "RUU 1.32 Vodafone UK" Of course, once you install this version you can upgrade via OTA to "Vodafone 2.05"
As I say, I have personally seen the UK version 1.32 ... is the same for Spain, Ducht, Deutchland, too.
Hi,
I bought an HTC One from Sprint network in Europe (Norway). Seller said that smartphone comes from norwegian market, but its just bricked because of plenty bad operations made by him.
I figured out, make and android OS again, than downgrade to 4.1.2 unlocked it from Sprint CDMA to Europe GSM networks, than change to Android 4.3, than to 4.4.2 by OTA, but now my USSD codes like *150# (which is checking my balance) are comming with chinnese language.
Do somebody know this problem? could anyone help me? Thanks!
