OTA again? Stock global - Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Questions & Answers

Can I flash stock recovery in order to get OTA updates again? I have unlocked bootloader, flashed TWRP, Lazyflasher, camera2 API mods and Dolby Atmos.
Flashing stock recovery and relocking bootloader would make everything back to normal, right? Except the awesome mods I did.
I'm running stock global miui 10, Mi max 2 global version

I dont think we will be getting any more updates on this phone. It has been forgotten (thank God it still performs perfectly). If you are concerned of updates, just hold on until if by a miracle an update comes, download it from miu official website and flash it. It should override the custom recovery and mods. Bootloader remains locked though.

I believe in miracles, Xiaomi will stay loyal to it's customers.
Would it override the custom mod if I flash it with TWRP? I was hoping to relock the bootloader, is that practical? Will it get bricked?
I figure I would have to flash the mods all over again if I update, which means I would have to flash a custom recovery again anyway.

No need to lock bootloader again otherwise it will over write. You can't use custom recovery with locked bootloader.

[Q]Going from Safestrap/Kryptonite 4.4.2 rom to CM12?

I got my MotoX about a year ago, non-dev edition on VZW. I installed Hashcode's SafeStrap custom recovery and flashed Kryptonite's "stock" 4.4.2 rom to the stock slot. That satisfied me for the time being and I lost track of current development on the Moto X.
I've been itching for a change though and a software update is just the fix. Since I haven't kept up thoug, I really don't know how to go about it. I've been reading about the options but I don't know where my phone stands. Can I go the CM11-> CM12 route with Safestrap even though my bootloader is locked? Or do I need to use SunShine to unlock my bootloader and install a different custom recovery? And do I need to revert to stock to stock at any point? I'm pretty comfortable with all of this, I just need some nudging in the right direction.

If you NEVER took the 4.4.4 OTA you might want to consider unlocking your bootloader via "Sunshine" Then you can flash CM or anything you want with a real recovery and not safestrap. Just know that unlocking your bootloaer on a reatail device will void your warranty.

Right, my phone has never seen 4.4.4. So I'm going to go ahead and use Sunshine to unlock my boot loader as the first step. The warranty I'm not too concerned about.
I guess the next question is how do I go about replacing safestrap with TWRP? Is it the same as installing TWRP from stock?

You should be familiar with flashing a custom recovery via adb if you have used TWRP on other devices. Once you have the bootloader unlocked you would need the correct recovery image of TWRP for the Moto X and then in bootloader mode use the command "fastboot flash recovery 'recovery.img'" where 'recovery.img' is the exact name of the file. If it flashed and it works properly then you could flash CM12 and Safestrap should be gone if you followed the flashing directions exactly. Don't forget to make a Nandroid of your current setup before you begin! Factory Resetting the device would be crucial if jumping from one ROM to another so it kind of takes care of itself.

January ota had a serious bug, it caused bootloops on many devices with locked bootloader so they pulled it.
Just wait for february patch and my advice would be to unlock your bootloader now and keep always unlocked
Ok thanks for your advice..i just relock because that annoing message everytime i reboot phone..anywayto remove that warning with bootloader unlocked?

Reverto to stock after root and custom Rom

Hi all. I would like to revert the phone to stock after root and custom rom. Ther's a guide? I can't find anything on the forum. Thanks at all.
I think you just flash the stock firmware over what you have.

Thank's! So, no warry bout unlocked bootloader?
You might want to relock it first, but I don't think it matters. I am not sure though. Just basing this off my time with the S3 and S4 back in the day. With those phones it didn't matter. The S10 line are newer so it might with them.

I presume you want the boot screens to revert to normal without the Bootloader Unlocked warning screen.
If so, see my post HERE

I am on lineage os (Ivan_Meler) not rooted
under the developer there is no OEM option showing. My bootloader is unlocked, recovery is TWRP.
how can i goo back to stock ?
Just to be sure: Before I flash a custom firmware on a S10(+,e) like lineage, there is nothing to back up like DRM keys or certificates? (I had SONY phones before. If you reverted to stock on those some SONY apps would not work anymore if you did not backup the DRM keys).
Hello guys,
Similar question what is the procedure when I want S10e with flashed custom rom (TWRP Recovery), rooted and unlocked bootloader to return to stock firmware?

Question Can stock zips be flashed with mi 11 twrp?

Just wondering if the stock zips can be flashed with twrp?
I tried numerous stock zips and the ROM flashes successfully with no errors, xiaomiflashtool V2 is also successful, however when the phone boots no matter which stock ROM succeeds, Xiaomi.eu is the ROM that boots.
I don't want to use mi-flash, my phone is eea(Vodafone) and I'm trying to flash eea global, when switching with mi flash it activates ARB and bricks the phone. I know it does because I have already done so and got a replacement from Vodafone.
Any help to flash a stock ROM would be appreciated, I'm stuck with xiaomi.eu as it stands.
Cheers.
at moment . there still no recovery rom for Xiaomi Mi 11 . there's people trying to flash stock rom in TWRP but keep failed .

Mine doesn't fail though, it succeeds. Well shows it succeeds but boots to xiaomi.eu each time.
Xiaomiflashtool V2 also succeeds with the stock ROM , but same outcome is present, xiaomi.eu boots each time.

I dont really want any custom roms really, ideally looking to flash stock again but its proving difficult.
hello me i think wait for a stable recovery.
At the moment the "TWRP" that is out is A10 based therefore you can only do normal stuff like wipe, flash magisk etc. It does not support flashing A11 roms yet

you're wrong , lol.
the only reason you can't flash xiaomi.eu is because ingbrzy doesn't want you to

You can flash with mi flash no problem, but since youre changing to a different region rom your bootloader must be unlocked

Hi you can, but you need the bl unlocked, also with china phones you might need root for gpay, banking fp etc.... with the bootloader unlocked these things may or not work, however on Chinese phones the bl must remain always open on a custom rom, otherwise the phone will brick.

generally thats the case, but for some reason some people its fine and others not, depends on your bank if it detects the bl is unlocked then you cant use it for this without magisk.

Question Rom 12.5.5.0 RKDEUVF

I have the Rom from Vodafone which however does not receive updates. Would it be possible to install the standard European ROM RKDEUXM without unlocking the bootloader and without losing the phone configuration?
I have the full rom file for fastboot installation 12.5.19.0.
Really thanks
Unfortunately, no, without losing configuration and data, you wont be able to flash any other version roms.

1. It's impossible to flash different rom without unlocking bootloader.
2. It's impossible to unlock bootloader without wiping the phone.
I see that is possible for Xiaomi phone using XiaomiTool V2 via ADB (debug usb enable).
You loose data but you don't have to unlock bootloader.
I don't know if it works with 11t pro...
I'd say DON'T DO IT. Switching ROM like that without unlocking the bootloader is a very bad idea. If something goes wrong your recovery options will be very limited. For sure though if you don't format data after flashing a different region ROM the device will end up soft bricked. Either a bootloop or perma fastboot mode. Adb doesn't work with stock recovery and stock recovery doesn't offer the "format data" option anymore just "wipe" which is not the same and won't fix anything. So unlock bootloader first.
Thanks!
But is it possible to re-lock after rom installed and is it possible to have ota regular updates?

You can only relock bootloader when the rom installed in your phone is the stock ROM came with your phone or else you'll brick it and have to reflash in EDL mode using test point.
Now I'm with RKDEUXM Rom...no brand Vodafone.
I've closed bootloader After flash and small test.
All work fine, no brick and Ota updates downloaded and installed.
Thanks!!!
