Phone freezes after I take a photo - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

I have a weird issue with the phone camera.
Sometimes, if i take a photo outside and it's sunny the phone freezes and i have to manually restart it. Sometimes it even restarts on its own, instead of freezing. If i take the photo inside, or it's not sunny outside it works great.
The issue started to appear very seldom, but now it's almost all the time, but it's still not 100% of the time. If it froze/restarted once, then it will again. The most i tried consecutively is 6 times i believe. But if i change location, or wait a while it might work. Also if i change a setting (like 9MP quality, instead of 13MP) it might work a while, but then it starts to freeze/restart again. Also i noticed a few times, that the photo has a narrow vertical line of variable width of randomly colored pixels.
All of this points to some issue/fault with the color camera/light sensor, especially since if i use the BW mode then i have no issues at all.
BUT, if i use the panoramic mode, the phone does not freeze/restart, so now it looks like a software issue
Next thing i want to try is a factory reset, but this is kind of a last resort since i was never lucky with backups, and always somethings got lost.
Does any of you know what the issue might be and what i could try before the factory reset?

camera!!!

Boys,
Unfortunately today I realized that the camera back, one of three mpx, when it is active, I get to a center red line.
Until yesterday there was not, I have already done a hard reset, but nothing like the active camera reappears, while the camera front all ok.
What can I do?
Sounds like a hardware fault. Return under warranty?
Joe
If I were a hard reset?
Looks like the same problem i had.
see this thread i posted some picutres

Also I have the same problemna!
Common Problem
I also have had this problem suddenly appear, after a month's time with no problems. I was able to play with the flicker adjustments in the camera settings to allevate the problem. However it wouls reappear from time to time. Again change the flicker adjustments, and it would disappear. Strange
Excuse as you did?

[Q] Camera Force closing

Seems there is an app that may be causing it. Not entirely sure, but when I first boot the rom clean, the camera works somewhat fine, I can take pictures. However, once I sign in and update/install my apps, something makes the camera force close. I can get it open sometimes for a few seconds, but then it dies, sometimes randomly, sometimes when I push the shutter key. Now, what I have found so far, is that if I lay the phone down so the screen starts out black, allowing light sometimes crashes it, and sometimes makes it more stable, it can take pictures if I do it this way. But it seems to do with the lighting, if it's real bright, it will close instantly. If it's dark, I have more time. I can use other camera apps just fine. It started when Sense 6 came out, tried InsertCoin and RevHD, both wiping system/cache/data and starting fresh. Looking on the forums, but not seeing many other people having issues...anything I can do to see what's exactly going on with my camera app? I like the HTC sense app unfortunately, it's pretty decent. Haven't seen any others that really do the same, does anyone have any recommendations? I've deleted all the pictures as well, still no luck.
Rage, found some files on the SD card (didnt wipe internalSD), it seemed to help, but whenever I hit the shutter button, it dies now. Bah. Although I notice the sound of the shutter getting stuck and going "tick tick tick" like it's about to take the photo. Maybe related to sound.

[Q] Weird Issue with display

So I'm having some weird issue with my Sony Xperia Z, the screen works absolutely fine, but there's this mystical dissolve(my apologies, couldn't find the right word to describe this problem).
The phone have been dropped before, but nothing happend. It have always been protected by case and tempered glass. One day I noticed the text on menu starts to blur a bit. Then few days later the same started to happen with album. And the thing is I haven't dropped it in a long time. And I have never sat on it either, so that's not the cause.
And what's is most frustrating, that the pixels tend to dissolve only when picture is in background, if its pure black or any other color nothing dissolves. And screen works perfectly in games, but when I view pictures or i open even the menu it starts to act real weird.

PS - I already tried reboot in safe mode, complete factory reset through sony companion, opened it up and reconnected everything connected to lcd and digitizer.
PSS - Today I noticed that the picture blurs on colored image, while on black&white one it is perfect, any ideas?
I am facing the same problem. Havent got a solution yet.
Dont have a perfect solution but atleast i can help you with a trick of my own.
This is going to drain your battery quicker then normal
Go to google play and download screen filter and set it b/w 30 and 34 and adjust your phones brightness to half or even more than that
Im sure you wont be satisfied but atleast it wont give you tears while looking at the screen.

Click to collapse
It worked, still got some blurred lines, but now it seems almost fine. Thanks a bunch, but I would still love to find out where's the problem, is it dieing GPU, screen or some cable?

How can I take photos in regular intervals without turning on the screen?

Hi all,
As the battery of my S8 is almost dead I thought instead of throwing it out I'd give it a second life as some kind of webcam. I want it to take a photo every 2 mins and upload it to a server. That works perfectly, except that the phone won't take a photo when the screen is off - even when it's not locked. I tried something like Turn on screen - take photo -turn off screen but that worked neither. In fact, as I put it on a tripod on my sleeping room window facing outside, I don't want to be disturbed at night by the phone screen.
So my question is, how can I make the phone take a shot every 2 mins with the screen being off?
The phone is running Android 9 and not rooted, but if that's what is required I am fine with doing so. If there is another solution than Tasker, I am also happy to hear about it. (Note: I tried the IP camera app which is really cool, but the phone gets super hot, thus I consider it a fire hazard)

Intermittent loss of touch response

Just retired my 2 XL and got a like-new 4 XL. Loving it so far, except one nagging issue.
Randomly the top 30-50% of the display stops registering taps (touch). It's easy to fix by turning the display off then back on, but I'm concerned it may be a hardware issue.
Interestingly, when this happens and something that is full screen and scrollable such as a contact list or app drawer is in the foreground, I can drag from below the "no touch area" to the top of the screen, but I can't start a drag at the top. So, it can sense touch in the troubled half, it just won't register taps.
I have done tons of searches. I see lots of people saying Android 12 had touch issues out of the gate, but was supposedly fixed. I disabled the block_untrusted_touches. I have checked any app that has draw over other apps permissions. I have tried with high touch sensitivity on and off. I have paid attention to running apps when it happens. I installed a LogCat reader looking for touch related issues when the problem occurs. I tried safe mode, but due to the intermittent nature of the problem, and the fact that safe mode disables most functionality, it really wasn't a good long term test.
I have yet to pinpoint this.
Sometimes it doesn't happen for a day, other times it's multiple times per day. So trial and error takes time because just when you think you licked the problem, it rears it's ugly head again.
I'm running LineageOS 19.1 at the moment (which I had also run on my 2XL with no issues). It is rooted. No apps force closing or crashing.
Has anyone else seen this on the 4XL?
Definitely interesting, never heard of that. I had some touch issues, specially if the display gets wet where it register touch, but poorly to the point I need to restart the device and dry out the screen. Though in my case the creen is completely cracked, so I suspect that's the cause as it didn't happened before.
Though I had a similar to yours but with the battery.
The problem was that the phone would randomly shut down, and that would happen more often when it was on my pocket.
This made the phone very un stable as sometimes I would have the phone completely off and didn't even know about it.
So I decided to open it and have a look at it. It turn out that the problem was the flex cable that connected the battery with the logic board, it was just slightly tore on one side, but just a tiny I couldn't nearly see it, I had to use another phone to zoom in.
As it was torn, depending on the way the phone was changed the force the gravity made over the cable, causing that sometimes it not enough energy got the phone, causing it to shut down.
Once I replaced it, it never happened again, not a single time.
Maybe you have a similar problem, though as you are rooted and using a custom ROM, that may be the reason, my case was extremely rare.
anyway, good luck
