Can anybody provide me with a tutorial how to flash B301 update which can be found via Firmware Finder for BTV-W09C100 version? I tried it once but came up with bricked tablet. Fortunately I was able to fix it after 2 days of research. That is the reason for step-by-step tutorial.
Last question: How is that even possible that B301 update can be only downloaded via Firmware Finder app and not via Settings->Update? Is it beta? Can anybody explain it to me? I am new to Huawei products.
Thanks guys
Hi!
B301 is an internal test build. I couldn't find a way to flash it properly, neither stock ways nor using unlocked bootloader and twrp (the update consists of two parts each with a different flashing method).
Better wait until official update appears.

To update to Nougat.
You have to first update to next higher version firmware than what you have and then go to Nougat. I read on some Italian forum that you should not update directly to Nougat. For example: if you have B009 then you have to select next higher version which is B010 and then update to nougat. But they advised against directly updating to nougat firmware from any version. For your model I don't know the exact firmware version but you can check in firmware finder.
(check your about page to find out the exact firmware version for your model)
How to use firmware finder?
Inside the firmware -> go to settings-> switch on the option -> add on proxy
Now go to your Wi-Fi settings
Tap and hold your Wi-Fi connection
You should get two options
Select "modify network"
Select - "manual" option
Then add the below in the respective fields
Proxy - > localhost
Port -> 8080
That's it. Save the settings. If you don't see the update here then go to firmware finder and select the firmware you want to download (select the next higher version than your existing firmware- > click on "send firmware to updater" . And then go back to updater in settings and check. you should see the OTA to update.
Now go to settings - > updater-> you should see update for your tablet there.
Once you are done with the update, again go to updater.
Now you should see the update for B301. This is more than 2 gb.
Just click on update and wait for it to finish. It will reboot twice. Wait for it to finish optimizing the system.
You have Android nougat now on your BTV-W09
Operating system is gorgeous. It is very similar to what I found on Huawei mate 8.
Nougat is beautiful on this tablet. Working excellently.
Some more steps here and many important posts in this thread -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71955984&postcount=23 Check the link to Huawei website to get your rollback package if something goes wrong. Mostly it won't but if you don't like nougat then you can return to marshmallow with the help of rollback package using dload method.
Have fun updating. I would recommend updating to nougat without any hesitation.

This would work if the update was a full rom, but the test nougat build we have got consists of 2 separate zips, and data cannot be flashed after the core nougat zip (for example the updater app is missing from the core zip, it's part of the second data zip)

It will work just fine. I already updated using this method on my tablet and there are others too who did this successfully in the other thread.
After downloading in firmware finder you have an option to push it to updater. That will ensure both zip files are extracted and the update is sent to the updater as one file.
So I can confidently say that this is a working method and because of the steps that I mentioned in my previous post I was able to update my tablet. Otherwise my tablet would still be in marshmallow. But no, my tablet is updated to nougat now.
So I would suggest you and every one to please give a try. It will work. Please follow the steps correctly. Procedure is very smooth.

I just did it this morning with this method on my BTV-W09C128. I had happen what TaRsY mentioned. I no longer have updater app in settings anymore. Otherwise everything is running great. I'm hoping when the update becomes official in the US I can do a full update through recovery somehow

The one in the first post. Unfortunately also realized Bluetooth isn't working. Trying to find a way to roll back for now

Thanks for the reply. I figured that out after asking you. I've already updated Nougat using this method.
I do not use bluetooth very much myself. So it not working is not much of an issue for me.
However, if you find a way to roll back please share for those of us that have made the jump.
Thank you.

Phone works ok, it feels slow at times. A reboot usually fixes it for a day.
I have my FIRST EVER UPDATE from the updater (B168). Should I do it? It says there are 2 patches: first one is entirely in chinese, the second one says a few things like add watermarks, fix UI issue, optimize startup, etc.
Yes. Why are you still on marshmallow? Nougat has been available since last year.

I read that the update made their phones use more battery or something. Also I don't know how to manually update, I assumed it would hit this updater thing but I never got an update off the updater. No risk to update you think? I should just do it?

Im on latest firmware and I get 5-6 hours sot, emui 5 performs much better and you can use greenify for better battery life. I think you should update because we are getting emui 8 soon which has machine learning and provides better performance and battery.

OTA = Over the Air. Official update delivered by Huawei. Go to Settings > System Update and check for updates.
FirmwareFinder = App to show/browse/download available and future firmware updates on Huaweis servers. Only necessary for those who flash updates manually.
In your case go to System Update. There should be an update. Maybe you have to do this a couple of times to reach latest Nougat-Version. Good luck!

Thank you. Perhaps I did something wrong.
1) set proxy to "localhost" and port "8080"
2) my model number was there, clicked it
3) went back to check settings: settings are (show packages for current region OFF, in app proxy port 8080, use simple OFF, show only fullOTA ON)
4) clicked first package (full OTA - MF)
5) clicked in app proxy
6) go to "updater" in settings
7) updater has package, click download and install
8) error "package checksum error." (immediately, before 1% downloaded).
Is it possible I need to not update the most recent one? I am still on android 6.0, EMUI 4.1 and like I said never had any other update OTA before (never used firmware finder). Thank you!
edit: restarted the phone, the package is now gone. Maybe I should do a different package, maybe an older one, not the most recent one?

Ok thanks, I am trying the oldest build B361 from B168. The download started.
There are 19 total packages, 14 before the first VD package. Holy **** this is going to take forever!
Thank you very much for your help.
Can you explain why these dont come automatically, why I need to do this manual process? Is it because I am in the US?
Also why do I need this proxy port thing?
Thanks again!

You just need the proxy so the package goes to your updater. You can set it back to default after.
What model number do you have?

There is no option for B193. all of the packages are in the 300's.
The download finished (I think) but it could not install. It said I needed to free up some space. I uninstalled some apps and now it will not let me view the progress (I clicked new custom version, it just takes me back to my setting page). in my notification screen, it as EMU download percetnage at -930% and it is not moving. I tried restarting a few times it all stays the same. Current version still says B168.
edit: I clicked menu and then "download latest full package" and it seemed to have reset everything. Should I try this package again? To repeat, this is the oldest package on firmware finder, B361. I also noticed there are duplicates in firmware finder... and some of the packages are for L09,L19 and L29, these are all safe to download? Should I keep doing oldest 1 by 1?
Thanks again for your help, sorry I am so noob.

A lot of users are saying they got an update with August security patches and other improvements.
But now it's almost the end of August and I haven't have got any update after the July update.
Build number: LLD-AL10 8.0.0.170(C675)

Any help?
1.) Is your boot-loader unlocked ?
2.) Do you have a Custom Kernel or Recovery Installed?
3.) Are you Rooted?
If the answer is yes to any of them then thats why your not getting any OTA's, If Yes is on 1.) then simply issue the fastboot command to relock the device "fastboot oem relock <bootloader-code>" If its yes to 2.) / 3.) Then your going to need to flash the phone back to stock before then relocking the bootloader.

1) Was unlocked
2)Had TWRP
3)Was rooted
I switched back to stock because of constant bugs especially the camera(what's the use of keeping a camera oriented phone in the pocket if it's camera is of no use?)
I'd used HuRupdater to flash the firmware. Now bootloader's relocked and everything's working fine except updates.
I think I flashed the wrong firmware maybe ( I forgot the build number so had to guess. I was sure I had an LLD-AL10 and that there was a C675 and 8.0 in the build number. I matched the changelog with that of the last update I got and then I kinda found out that everything matched to LLD-AL10 8.0.0.170(C675) )
Would one stop getting updates if they installed wrong firmware?
Everything works fine except updates.( And the bootloader 'relocked' status in fastboot).
Should I just flash the August update with HuRupdater( that's gonna be a lot of hassle as I have to unlock bootloader and do all those stuff) or can I update via any other method?
Right you can use Firmware finder on your phone which is a good start.
So using FF select then next version up from your current and only select a OTA-MF, then make sure its for your phone by clicking check firmware access.
If its for your phone then simply use the in-app proxie and connect to a wifi point. Once you have done this edit that Wifi via Settings and change the Proxie to Localhost port 8080. Then go the System and Update.
Now it should download the small version OTA to your phone and reboot to try to install it, it it goes thought and installs without error then great, if it errors out when you boot back into android it will offer the Full OTA without using FF to which will then flash proper without losing data then see if OTA's work after that.

I checked and this is what happened.
FF detected my phone as LLD-AL10C675
The latest update that's is approved is
LLD-AL10 8.0.0.181(C675CUSTC675D1)
It is B181
But that update is from June. So I searched for LLD-AL10 and pressed ok , so that it shows all firmwares for lld al10.
And I think I found the one I have currently installed(build number and changelog matches) LLD-AL10 8.0.0.170(C675CUSTC675D1). It is from 11/7/2018. Everything above says either firmware not approved or has a wierd term cn in the available models section.
This is something I quite don't understand. When I check firmware access it says lld-al10:all-cn.
I think cn stands for China.( Uploading screenshot)
Would it be safe for me to install the update?
Also is it necessary to download the update just above the one I have installed now or can I skip to the latest one?
Sorry if that's a lot of questions.
I'm in a tight corner now.
I can't get any updates using the dns method or the in app proxy method.
This sucks as I was able to get an update using the dns method 3 weeks back. I didn't install it. I checked for updates, it showed updates, then I stopped dns and things went back to how it was(no updates ?). Today I tried again and nothing happened.

OMFG bro I fixed it.
You see Huawei had rolled out an update for the 'system update' app through playstore. I had updated it. And after I uninstalled the update for it, things are starting to work again ?.
Only 3 questions remains.
1) Can I install firmware that is not approved?
2)Is it necessary to install the update just above the version I
have currently installed?
3)Is it okay if FF says it's approved but has the part LLD-AL10-
all-cn:all ?
Does the cn part matter ?
Would be very grateful if you could help
1) Yes
2) No
3) CN= China. Personally I wouldn't, plus I don't speak Chinese , why would you want to ? I also like having full access to Google playstore.
On an aside, I'm beginning to get the impression you won't be happy till you really brick your phone .:laugh:

I used the FF app on mobile then used in app proxie connected to a wifi point and edited the connection to enable proxie on localhost port 8080. I also only downloaded only the small OTA, however it will fail to install then once you rebooted back into android go system update and then press the 3 dots and go for Full Download that will fix it.
Just a point you may have the same Firmware even the same model but they are not made equal.
Also check Google play store app for Huawei System Update it should look like the picture that's attached then click uninstall and reinstall install the app too before starting as reinstalling that app can help alot.

So Ive already done all this because it may be related but no luck.Last time I used FF was to get the B133 which already didnt work on the 7th August,I then uninstalled the FF app, stopped the proxy localhost etc. and right after that I did the update check through system update and the B133 FULL was offered to download,so the B133 was made properly through system update right after all the procedure with the FF.

I have tried this procedure more than three times and it just doesn't work. I have the same model version C432 and the same firmware B133. I even downloaded the full Ota file and tried through SD card update ("#" #2846579#"#"), still nothing. When I connect it to Hisuite it says that I have the last official version. Any suggestions?

Try uninstalling the update for the system update app then use the VPN or proxy method.
Maybe the update just hasn't reached you like me.

Try an open firmware via Odin of your country if you have a Exynos SOC.
Flash via Odin with your prepaid sim card installed. Normally your csc code changed after this.
Use JDownloader to download free fw updates like websites sammobile.
JDownloader still has a crc check to beware corrupt download archiv.

If he purchased the phone in the US from AT&T as he stated, it won't be an Exynos, UT yes he can use Odin and update manually.

Same is the case with me like OP but I do get notification on Smart Switch that a new update is available. The size is 5GB which means it's a full ROM and not just OTA equivalent file. I need to know if installing the update will wipe the phone or not.
There's no mentioning of this aspect anywhere in Smart Switch help section or on the update notification.

thanks man I've flash U1 software its wiped everything but it works well :good:
now will i receive OTA future updates or i have to do it manually ?
If you want to test for OTA updates, use "settings - software update" manually...
Also, if you want Android 10 beta, download Samsung members app in playstore and register for open beta.
For safe debugging: Activate developer options - oem unlock!
Please use the thanks button... [emoji6]
Have fun and no problem.
I tried to install One UI 3 android 11 and didn't let me install it's said current software is up to date, this is AT&T carriers so please help me, thank you.
Hi,
I have a note 8 (SM-N950F) UK. It's unlocked and is still on Android 8.0.0 and the security patch version is 01/04/2018.
When I try do an OTA update it says I've got the latest version of the software installed. I've downloaded Samsung Smart Switch and and that says "Your device software is up to date: RD7(XEU)
I don't think my note 8 has a OEM version of the rom on it. (When I originally got it, I believe it was on the EE network, but wasn't locked to that network).
I was wondering if anybody can help me with the fact i can't seem to update it to Android version to 9 or update the security software.
The details are:
AP: N950FXXU3CRD7
CP: N950FXXU3CRB9
CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC
Don't really know what the above means, but would like to update the ROM to Android 9.
Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give.
Terry.

BACKUP First!!
On PC: (computer)
-Download samfirm.exe or frija
-Download latest Odin version (can be found in sammobile.com firmware section or google search)
-Open up samfirm.exe or frija use : SM-N950F and XEU in the search fields and download file (~4.8 GB File) and unzip the zip file.
-Open Odin and put PHONE in download mode and connect to PC.
-Place the 4 files in its correct place:
BL = BL-FILE
AP = AP-FILE
CP = CP-FILE
CSC = CSC-FILE or HOME-CSC FILE **
** CSC-FILE WILL DELETE EVERYTHING and bring back to factory settings (like doing factory reset!) Backup first before choosing this file.
** HOME-CSC FILE will keep data intact
So choose only ONE File!!!
If you run into bugs after update do a factory reset!
They're YouTube guides on how to use Odin and samfirm.exe or frija!
But beware that you CAN NOT go back to android 8 period! So make sure that you really want to go to pie!!
Just to add to what Bluephnx said, the link below will help you on how to use Odin, but also has the download link for SamFirm. (For region in Samfirm, use either XEU, which is UK and Ireland, or BTU, which is UK, or you will get carrier bloatware. You can obviously flash carrier filmware if you choose)

Many thanks for that. Much appreciated.
I'll give what you suggest a go.
Really don't understand why I can't do it OTA tho', would there be something wrong with my phone to stop OTA update working?
And is there any reason not to go to Pie (9) and stick on 8 that you know of?

It just glitches/bugs out sometimes. It has happened to me before, but once flashing via Odin, it usually resolves the OTA problem. You could try a factory reset, which can sometimes resolve the OTA bug, just back your data up first.
I honestly can't remember what Oreo was like to make a comparison for you, but some people do hate Pie, where I have been very happy with it since it's launch.
Here is a little explanation of Pie on the Note 8 on YT that you may find useful.

Did you ever do the OTA update yourself before on that phone or did you just buy it on AP: N950FXXU3CRD7 CP: N950FXXU3CRB9 CSC: N950FOXM3CRDC? If it's been that way since you got it then the most likely answer is that someone else updated it using a version of firmware that can't update via OTA and the only way to fix that is to use odin and flash the latest version of firmware.
