Huawei P9 EVA-L19, stock latest firmware, using as car GPS navigation, randomly loses location.
On roads near big trees this is becoming often, even worth. It's like the GPS is hardly receiving satellite signals.
Anyone encountered this problem?
I have the same issue on my EVA L09 and no solution till now :/
Same problem here, with the time he works better ^^
First I thought the Waze App wasn't optimised to this hardware; Later I observed the same symptom happened while walking down on a street and watching Google Maps.
Recently I've reset my phone to factory defaults and up to now ... sshh... Now I'm monitoring it. Fingers crossed :fingers-crossed:
I am facing the same issue with my P9 Plus. It doesn't work even after I have performed a hard reset. Will be sending to the service center and see what they say.
After installing B378 update i still have problems with GPS and battery. I've done factory reset 5 times in 9 months, looks like this Huawei is my first and last one.
Overall good phone but I don't want to carry charger with me all the time and can't use Google Maps
Hi. I think I solved the problem (at least for me it worked).
After the last update my P9 (Firmware: C432B378) GPS started to stop randomly, becoming an nuisance using any Navigation APP.
After searching Google and XDA I've found that other people also had the same issue with Nougat and after trying some of the solutions I finally got the GPS working again.
The steps are:
- Go to "Advance Settings".
- then go to "Location Services"
- Press the 3 dot (on the top right) and select "Scan settings".
- Disable/unselect the Wi-Fi scanning (and "Bluetooth scanning")
Voilá, the GPS it's back again.

I'm facing the same issue and already made the configurations that you report, without success. Already made a Factory Reset, and same behaviour: very erratic behavior of GPS during navigation (with Waze, or Google Maps, or HERE WeGo). Also requested the replacement of the device for a new one ... and same thing with this second P9 ...
It's running EMUI 5.0 (build number EVA-L09C432B378).
I had a NEXUS 5 and never faced something like this: very quick fixing of GPS (P9 takes much much much more time) coordinates and no erratic behavior at all.

Disabling wifi and BT just makes indoor positioning problematic. This phone has got a cheap and loose, slow chip for GPS. It may save energy. Sell the phone for someone slow moving, who isn't a car driver...
Glonass satellites ar unknown
Someone of you had noticed that P9 can fix many Glonass satellites but without recognizing as Glonass satellites?
I tried with app AndroiTS GPS Test used in the same moment/position on my P9 (EVA-L09) and on my Tablet Samsung Galaxy Tab S2...
Tab S2 views many satellites and fixes faster... P9 sees the same satellites but indicates them with a question mark...
A software problem?
Guys I've solved it after some research!
just press it on the 4 corners with your fingers.
I've made it with the app "GPS test" launched, and after pressing it, it automaticaly start working.
Enjoy!!!

Hi, I also have the same problem after updating to Nougat (Italian telecom brand TIM).
Can you explain better how did you fix the problem by pressing your fingers at the 4 corners ???

What does it mean press on the 4 corners?
problem due to battery optimisation . Had problem getting signal using Waze. Go to Settings, then Apps, Go into Settings under the Apps screen again; under Advanced, select Special Access ; go to Ignore battery Optimisation; Select All Apps; make Waze or your GPS app as Allowed App to ignore battery optimisation. It worked for me.
I pressed the four corners and it worked...thanks for the info
Got this phone a year
This problem still with me, i need to use waze regularly. It just keep lost signal. Any solution for this now?
The turning off of Wifi and Bluetooth location services works for me. To be fair, I have used my P9 for GPS nav in my aeroplane and it has always delivered quick and accurate results. I know this as I run it in parallel with my aviation GPS and the locations match if you track from A to B on both GPS's. It also seems to update very quickly, which surprised me but it does. My max speed is 140Kts, so not high speed from an aviation POV but very fast for driving!
Asked around from the retailer regarding this problem and they directed me to contact the official Huawei Support service, who in turn replaced the main board. Still not perfect all the time.
Check this:
1. calibrate your compas
2.In Advanced settings - don't close compass application
Second day works fine on my P9 Pro
4 corner means?
Was shocked to see the notification this morning, jumped in with the update before leaving for work and seems fine so far. Navigation Bar customization lost for now, Nav Star under Good Lock says they're working on an update so hopefully that takes care of things. Haven't had much time to explore yet but initially phone is much snappier, even after considering it restarts automatically once a week.

What version software were you on before?
Good question, don't really see an update Log. Last update was November so I assume it was SJ1. Updates have been running around 45 to 60 days on this phone.
I will say, and unfortunately not sure this option was around on Pie, but looked up Android 10 tips and enabled Adaptive Power Saving under Device Care / Battery / Power Mode and at least for the first day it seems battery draw has improved. Time will tell.

Should be on US Firmware. Not sure what you mean by update ZIP, but see attached.

You're using an N960U1 or an N960U but it has Unlocked US firmware on it, which just makes it an N960U1. Did you register for the beta on the Samsung Members app? Or can you tell us what your previous firmware was before you got Android 10?

I see in all these post about the beta, you seem to never get a straight answer for that :fingers-crossed: maybe someone will actually respond instead of just asking questions

Yeah it's kind of.....odd.??* I don't even want the beta. I just want to know what the banking schemes are for the firmware itself. It'll give us a hint IF Samsung is leaving towards a bootloader update. Which will help tell us they fixed something nasty from the current bootloader. ?
I think I did register for the Beta so that makes sense, went to the Members Center looking for something else and tapped the icon for it, never got confirmation of anything though. The upgrade notification didn't state it was Beta either. Based on dates per Samsung Phone was probably on SJ1 Pie prior to this. I assumed this was the December 1 patch when it first popped up.
Notification popped up today when opening Settings that this is the Beta, a fact not communicated by Samsung during the update. Went into Settings upon noticing the Phone which was good all weekend today at work without using it started getting hot and draining the battery. Shut it down wiped partition cache a during startup then went into Battery / App Usage and found Camera, which had not been open since last night had used 62.7% of Battery over the past 6:43 hours. Toggled on 'Put App to sleep when not in use' for Camera App and will keep an eye on this along with everything else. All other App Usage seems to be normal. Charging phone now and it has cooled down.
Realize this was the Google Camera acting up that was installed from a link on this forum and mapped to activate by double tapping the Bixby button through BxActions (Samsung Camera activates by double tapping Power Button). Explains why it was acting up after the update. I like the G-Cam night mode and have been comparing the results to the S-Cam night mode including a few shots of Christmas decorations last night.
Updated this Thread Title to reflect what this upgrade actually is. Very happy with this upgrade so far, even though it wasn't labeled as the Beta version in the notification when it first popped up. Only real glitch I've noticed besides the G-Cam battery drain episode which is no fault of Samsung being a sideloaded App, is the settings security page. Phone is setup to require security log on when Settings is opened, currently the security pattern screen flashes then goes to Settings menu without requiring login fingerprint or pattern. Lost Navigation Bar customization I assume will be recovered when NavStar is updated, there is a notification in LockStar that let's you know they're working on an update.
Received another Beta update today.
Another Beta is pending, brings Security Patch up to January 1st, will install tonight.
I recently bought an MI 9 Lite and I am experiencing a problem with the device daily.
Constantly while in use, the phone simply goes to the lock screen. It happens most of the time when I'm driving with Waze or Google Maps, but it also happened while I was typing a message on Whatsapp with the phone in my hand.
I identified that the situation is occurring when there is a carrier signal failure, but found no explicit setting in the phone menu to lock the screen when the network goes down.
This is hindering the use of the phone and I'm even not using it as a GPS. I've found other people reporting the same situation with this model, but none of them have found a solution yet (https://c.mi.com/thread-2741448-1-0.html).
My phone is running MIUI Global 11.3.4.
Same problem on my mi9 miui 11.0.6
Maybe this bug somehow connected with google smart lock. Cause before i was update my phone from miui 10 i had some problems between smart lock, and always on display. I checked a lot of forums, but noone have no idea why this bug happens. And only on mi9 and miui 11

I only saw that when you take out the SIM card, have you tried changing your sim card for a new one?
Hi Guys.
Since I've bought my Mi 9 Lite (nov 2019), I'm experiencing this issue. I tried to update (on 11.0.3.0 Android 10 now), but the only thing that changed is that I have the signal drop and the screen doesn't lock anymore. The signal drops in many situations, but it happens mostly when I try to call someone using whatsapp. I searched a lot, but couldn't find a solution. Someone can help me?
This is very annoying.
I've found that my phone has *the most annoying bug* with Android Auto - AA will work absolutely fine when you connect the phone, but then freezes / stops responding as soon as the phone's screen timeout expires and the phone auto-locks.
AA doesn't freeze, when using the same cable and same car, if I swap the phone to being my OnePlus 8 Pro - which suggests this is definitely a Find X3 Pro issue
(I'm on the 15 firmware, and at the moment can't get it to update, no matter what I do)
@stuclark
I'm on a UK unlocked device and mine won't update either . Still on A15.
That said I tested AA for 2 X 30min trips ( WFH still ) and did NOT have this bug .
I have seen it mentioned in Oppo advert threads on Facebook , they responded each time saying they were aware and working on it . So far I do not put much faith in their updates though.

Thanks for the reply - I guess we'll wait to see what the firmware update brings (I've tried uninstalling and re-installing AA, but that doesn't downgrade me to an older version I can use). I'll have a go on facebook and the ColorOS forums
@stuclark . Probably worth opening ticket on chat / Twitter DM with them so they are aware. The more the better.
Not surprisingly, the answer from Oppo is:
It's an Android Auto bug. It will be fixed when they release a new version. Until then, set the screen to stay on whilst the phone is charging (in developer options)
Yup. Welcome to Oppo.
Seems the bug has been present for the year the X2 has been out. So dont hold your breath on a fix.
For me it worked to shut down the always on display function

Try turning off always on display, worked for me.
Good evening I live in France and I test Android auto because some of you have problems with the application and I wanted to know if it was the same with my X3 pro. I use the app for over an hour and don't notice any worries. Good luck to all
P.S: I'm under the latest oppo update with the A17

Thanks for your answer - Android Auto does indeed seem better under A17 than the previous (UK certainly) A15 release.
It also helps to turn off third party navigation apps, such as Sygic or Waze - these seem to exacerbate the Android Auto issues with this phone (but work perfectly on other devices)
Images on the lock screen, crash the Android Auto. It is an OS problem. Here is what to do, till the problem is solved :
-Go to Settings, Security, Smart Lock and and your car a trusted device. That way you have your phone unlocked while driving and fingerprint disappears.
(You can also remove fingerprint from lock screen by going to Settings, Passwords & Biometrics, Fingerprint, Screen-off unlock and select off, but then you have to wake up your phone before being able to use fingerprint)
-Go to Settings, ..Always-On Display, Always-On Display and disable it. (You can also select Always-On Display with battery saver, which turns off image after some seconds, but on those seconds, the Andriod Auto is crashed)
Since I think past november, Google Assistant stopped working correctly in my device (spes, 128/6, global) and others from friends (spes, 128/4, global).
The symtoms are, it does react to "Hey Google" (or "Ok Google") but then, when its time to give the order, it doesnt listen, it stays here, with the four colored line like waiting for the sound but the line stays quiet and doesnt move when I talk, like if the mic were not working.
Didn't work after updates, through MIUI 12/13 and Android 11/12.
Anyone have some trick to make it work?
Thanks.
Have same issue but sometimes Google assistant works and sometimes it acts like that, also I noticed that Google assistant doesn't work when screen turned off for some time, it does react to 'Ok Google' if screen just turned off or between couple of minutes of turning off the screen, after that it doesn't respond, I believe it has something to do with MIUI optimization so I already set Assistant as No restrictions in battery saving settings but still, same issue.. hope someone help with that.. I used to use Google assistant for long time so I got annoyed because of this bug..
I also tried battery saving options, retraining my voice, reinstalling, erasing cache, data, etc., but nothing. :-(
Some time ago doing research about the subject I read something about Google not supporting Google Assistant anymore , because it was not giving enough money or something like this, maybe our device is more or less unsupported now. Can't find the article now. I would like to know if this is an issue on others Redmi phones, the 11S, 11Pro, etc.
Google Assistant might be doomed: Division “reorganizes” to focus on Bard
The Google Assistant makes no money and hasn't released hardware in two years.

Hi All,
I'm not surprised by this at all.... like other's here, I noticed Google Assistant (GA) had stopped responding after I updated from Android 11/MIUI 12.5 to Android 12/MIUI 13. I kinda wasn't bothered, gave up on it... that was until the other day. I called out to my GA Home Mini, and noticed my phone responded again, where as it hadnt uptil then. The only thing I noticed at the time was my phone was being charged at the time, which kinda implies based on above, whether it is power related in latest update. As being on mains power, it seemed to work like used too.
I am shocked and gutted to hear Google have given up on GA, although that said, not surprised... as I noticed all my GA's around the house (1x Google Home, 2x Home Mini's, 1x Google Hub) have all become dumb in the last year or so, during the Plandemic... I thought it was when we changed Router settings to let our neighbour use our WiFi when they ISP issues, then reverting back to our normal Router settings, it became less Smart.
Noticed GA was either getting the answers wrong, or not at all... I'm so annoyed, I barely use the GAs now and just type it on a Tablet if I need an answer... defeets the point of an Assistant??
Google advancing, saving human interaction and becoming smarter?? We're going backwards arn't we...??
Why does Google launch so many products, when at the time of the launch, brilliant, but then kill them off before they've finished/polished it off... In my eyes, GAs still needed far more work, nowhere near what they advertised, at least not in the UK... USA is a different story !!
Keep calling out to GA "Send feedback" GA responds "What needs fixing/improving" I then reply "EVERYTHING!!!"

Got exacly the same problem on a brand new Redmi Note 11 with original rom.
First I flashed the Xiaomi.eu Rom, still the same problem.
Since two days I'm running the pixelexperience rom and it works perfecly fine.
What I found out is: xiaomi removed some important parts from android because the google assistant isn't allowed in china. It seems like even in the eu and us versions of the rom they broke the assistant.
Since the xiaomi.eu rom is based on the original one it also just dosn't work.
Looks like any rom based on the aosp works fine.
Tks for the heads up @NeoCortex, I'll check the PE thread.
With today's firmware (MIUI Global 14.0.2, Android 13) it's working again!!
