I had to do a specific Google search with quotation marks to even find this answer. The conspiracy theorist in me thinks Samsung doesn't want people to really know about this.
My Sprint SM-N950U substituted "privacy" for "confidentiality", but I found it via your directions and turned it off. Made the mistake of straight-up disabling the service a week ago, when Galaxy Apps was pushing and update for it, but then Bixby Home instantly crashes.

Since my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 N910C had been starting to develop issues, while I am in Hong Kong. Which was probably due to the latest OS updates. Or it could be due to the fact that my N910C doesn't support the use of LTE-A bands, which HK Cell Providers are starting to adopt. I decided to upgrade to the Note 8. I managed to find the Korean N950N model with 256GB of internal storage for an excellent price. The only catch was that they only had it in Deep Sea Blue and they didn't know when they would get the Midnight Black version back in stock. I bite the bullet and got it. The shop owner was nice enough to give me a slight discount. He also installed a case friendly screen protector that didn't work very well with the Spigen Tough Armor. It is not too much of a problem. Just that the part that protects the sensors pop loose from time to time. I am amaze at how fast the Note 8 running, it can handle anything I throw it's way like it was nothing. The placement of the fingerprint scanner isn't as bad as I thought it would be. The iris scanner is pretty good when I have my Note 8 positioned properly. I was able to transfer everything(except my UK Whatsapp account) from my N910C to my N950N using Smartswitch , which was incredible. The Secure Folder is useful for storing my personal files and apps, I managed to put my UK Whatsapp number in there.
The only downside is that some of the old S Note features are now gone! I can no longer take a picture and have it converted into an editable document like in my N910C. Which was a very useful feature, I guess that Samsung must have removed it.
You can install the old S Note app, search for it
Hello,

With WhatsApp, I periodically back it up to Google account. Then use smartswitch which works good.

I paid HK$5699 for my N950N, which converts to GB£518. Which is a steal! As the 256gb UK model of the Note 8 cost around £900

Tried it. But even that doesn't have the photo note function. Which is strange as the S Note app on my N910C has been updated to the latest version, and it still has the photo note function.
After installing the Oreo update. I noticed that one of my games Texas Hold'em Poker 3 no longer takes up the full screen when it loads. Even if I have the game set to fit the entire screen. Other than that everything looks the same. Except the Settings Menu has been brought up to the S9S series GUI. There maybe some performance increase but I didn't notice any.
Still rocking my N950N. Even after the release of the N960N. My N950N is still a beast. The camera quality is excellent despite being a single aperture lens.
Just installed the Android Pie update for my N950N. I have noticed that when my device boots up it takes a few seconds longer for the keyboard to appear for me to enter my password. Besides that everythings seems pretty snappy. I am not fond of the One UI. I prefer Samsung UI, which came with Nougat and Oreo. One UI seems way too cartoony. The buttons and icons for all the Samsung apps seem to be designed with kids in mind. I like that you can just use swipe gestures to navigate the device, which eliminates the need for navigation buttons.
I have also discovered that the game launcher doesn't include the stretch to full screen option anymore, which is a shame as that worked fir stretching games to full the display very well. Figured out how to fix this problem in the Settings Menu.
Just discovered that you can no longer disable Bixby once you have installed the Pie update onto the Note 8. :crying::crying:

But you can now remap the button to any app you want.
Now there is a option for a single press and a double press.
Just got the Bixby update.
edit.
Know I have Google search open up when I single press instead of Bixby and if I want Bixby double press.
But holding down the Bixby button will bring up Bixby voice command.
Have you tried a third party app to disable it?

Anyone noticed bixby voice password feature is missing? On oreo if the phone is locked, u can use bixby to do something, and unlock phone via voice password. Now it'll just ask u to enter pin or pattern

Go to Bixby voice settings and tap on voice wake up. It's there, look at my previous post with screenshots you can set the option.
If not there update Bixby.
Now the feature does it like Google style with voice unlock. Meaning it just unlocks when you say "Hi Bixby" without asking you for a voice password.

Make sure you update Bixby. I just tried that command close all apps and it worked without asking for password.
This the version of Bixby I'm on.

Note 9 announced, so came Bixby along with it. This time it's version 2.0, out of the box. Samsung says it's now better at predicting user needs, processing natural languages and is quicker. You like it or you are going to remap it with a remapper or disable it forever? Or you want it to be dead already? Share your thoughts.
I'm too heavily invested in the Google assistant ecosystem. I liked how DJ Koh talked about how fragmented systems are because companies want to control, but results in a poor user experience, but then of course there's no way to disable bixby easily....not very open if you ask me.
I'll still test it out of interest.

Well, you can forget Bixby home, let only the "Bixby voice" to stay and to follow your commands, can disable both and 4get forever or can Remap with remapper.

Bixby seems to faster and context aware now (like Google Assistant), based on what I saw in Flossy Carter's unboxing and hands-on video (@8:02).

Hopefully its aware enough to disable itself before I do.

Ill never use it, ill just disable it again like with my s8 plus

I think I'll give it another shot. Only reason I had stopped using was because I'm invested in Google Assistant. At least that's what I thought until just now when I realized, the only thing I use Google Assistant for is a 30 minute timer for my lunch clock punches.
Plus there's just something weird about saying "Hi Bixby," out loud.

Yes, by executing Android Debug Bridge commands as there are some nice remappers out there.

good to know that. Thanks!
I currently use it only for system control. My daily driver is Google.
I use Bixby all the time. Google Assistant is my reminder only use. Now that it remembers you are in a conversation and don't have to keep repeating the initial context I'll be using it even more.
I'm not seeing options to disable Bixby hardware button entirely in Note 9, unlike S9/S9+.
The settings and UI are different in Note 9 in comparison to S9/S9 plus, but no option of "do nothing" when you press the Bixby key in Bixby settings or Bixby voice settings.
**The unit I'm having is NOT a retail unit, it's a demo/review unit, with latest OTA flashed 2 days back with few enhancements and August security patch. The option to turn the Bixby hardware button into a totally "dead" button might show up in retail units.

Nope no "switch off" bixby buttons... very annoying And BX actions isn't working "yet". I gave Bixby a try for a couple of hours... it's a no go for me.

ButtonMapper doesn't work as well. But I would assume those apps might work in future once devs start working on it.
Update:
Checked a retail unit and Bixby settings are not different from the demo/review unit I had been using.
So, using bixby/phone settings one cannot turn the button completely off, for now. This is ugly and a step backwards from S9/S9+ IMO.

I love it. Just swipe up, press the fingerprint sensor and press it to the kiosk. Easier and works in more locations than Android Pay.

Choose quick access
Uncheck items

Yes I 2nd that opinion... as hyped as Samsung Pay is, it's not widely compatible with a lot of UK banks so really what's the point if after many years from launch some of us are are still waiting.......
Samsung Pay is malware, like most Samsung bundled bloatware. Gallery was spammed with undismissable ads for onedrive in an effort to disable which I force stopped Samsung members and, for good measure, Samsung pay. Deleting data for Samsung Pay and clearing the cache caused it to reload, and it couldn't be dismissed. It overruled the Nova launcher apps drawer so that no apps could be opened.
It can't be got rid of by disabling (can't be disabled) or force stopping.
This meant that to make the phone basically functional again, Samsung pay had to be both signed into AND made default.
You have to open it and sign in, and then it gives you a 'choice' between making it the default payment app or shutting down. So no choice. Only once all that is done can you access its settings and turn off the quick access bar, notifications etc.
I hate their guts for wasting my time and energy like this, for trying to control me. I'd rather do almost anything now to make sure I allow them zero presence in my tech life.
Have not been able to find an easy way to root this s7 edge. With that done I'd soon deal with Samsung pay and its intrusive, evil ****ing bull****.

Go to settings (gear symbol) > apps > Samsung pay, Tap on Samsung pay. Scroll down to the advanced section where it says "draw over other apps" and select that. Tap the toggle switch off to disable the shortcut at the bottom of the home screen. (Android 10, One UI version 2.5)
Hey folks, I had reddit on my remapable button for Bixby for single press and double press is Bixby, but something happened yesterday out of the blue and it is not working anymore and it launches Bixby on single press and its frozen. Tried to re do the whole process nothing got fixed, restarted the phone, nothing, I do not have any new software, I sont use games I dont use almost anything except Google stuff like calendar and keep, some things like viber, Skype, WhatsApp, a bibble, or scanner and reddit... so the idea is I should not have anything to break my phone in my eyes, but I just also remembered there were Samsung updates yesterday in the Samsung store, for the apps and Bixby was one of them, has any one had similar issues, and do you know a fix?
Nobody?
I got the update for Bixby & related applications. At first, the single click of bixby button did launch the bixby assistant. Then I went to settings & disabled>enabled it & it worked good again.

For example I disabled bixby using package disabler pro and seem to be having issues remapping...
Yes, I use bxActions for that.

For me it works great. Action Shortpress is Display off and lang press Google Assistant.
After updating, I had to go through the Bixby setup the first time I hit the button but after that I'm back to normal on a single press.
