Dear all,
while I ve done all the appropriate steps ( I think so) to install google home, create room and link chromecast with room I cannot control chromecast via google home though.
Whatever I say to my phone it turns to google search.
Phone and chromecast are on the same unrestricted network and I can normally cast youtube or other apps to chromecast via my phone.
Any ideas?
THX A LOT IN ADVANCED GUYS.

Hi all,
I hope this question was not raised before. I tried to use the search function but it didn't work.
I use Pandora outside outside the US using Hola to unblock Pandora. If Hola is started, Pandora 5.1.1 works perfectly.
But when I try to connect Pandora to ChromeCast (pressing the Chromecast Sign at the bottom line right to the volume slider) the playback stops and the Play/Pause button shows the right arrow (which indicates 'press me to play'). But I can push the button as often as I want, the stream never starts, the button always shows the arrow...
Any idea??
Thanks a lot for any help.
The only way to cast Pandora to the Chromecast outside the U.S. is either tab-casting, which is easy and works fine, or a VPN from your router to a U.S. gateway.
Obviously it can't work to attempt to use the Chromecast icon from within Pandora if you haven't set up a U.S. VPN/DNS for the Chromecast itself, since it will be contacting Pandora independently to pick up the stream. And as it happens, the currently-available DNS services that support Pandora on other platforms don't work for the Chromecast due to some unknown quirk. Might get solved in the future, might not.

Try the advanced search (gear icon).
Since it looks like Hola seems to use a browser extension or proxy app, it only works where the extension or app can run.
Pandora works in the normal DIAL usage, so Chromecast is a separate client. It receives a request from the casting application that is essentially "Hey, play this URL" where "this URL" is a US Pandora link.
And because Chromecast isn't running Hola, it works like a normal client that isn't running Hola - and it tries to open the US Pandora link - but it can't.
Even though your client can see and access out-of-region content (via Hola), Chromecast can't, so that's why it can't get to what you're asking it to access.
So, unless you can get Chromecast itself to run Hola (unlikely, as Chromecast is an appliance/accessory not a fully-configurable device) or Hola has a DNS-based usage like Unlocator/Unotelly/others, Chromecast will only be able to access things that are "normally" accessible in your region.

Pandora casts for me in Canada using NetProtect beta with the appropriate iptables scripts set up on my Tomato router. I would assume their sister service Unblock Us would work too.

Thanks for all the answers.
Sounds reasonable to me, so i have to i usw my Bluetooth dongle to stream to the audio amp.
Thanks again,

Hi Friends,
Am living in Kuwait where the ChromeCast has not reached officially. I however intend to buy one and would be glad if someone can answer a couple of my questions. I did go to the FAQ page, but the Google Apps page show nothing (probably because it is not available in my region) and the other page which shows the features of the product is down.
a) Can I cast any and everything from my mobile to my TV? I mean, videos, photos & music from my internal storage / SD card direct to TV?
b) How can I install apps on the CC if the google apps page turns up blank because of my region?
c) Can I check out or show my gmail, email, whatsapp & viber messages on the TV?
d) Can the CC also be unrooted? If yes, do I gain any benefits by doing this?
Thanks

I don't know if it will work in your region. Someone else will have to answer that.
A & B. You don't install apps on the CC. You use apps on your phone or computer to connect to the CC.
C. CC does have the ability to screen mirror exactly what is on your phone screen and computer screen.
D. Someone else can answer about rooting it. I know you can, but I think it's only certain numbers.
ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ
Thanks my friend
I always was having the misconception that apps were being installed in the CC. So, this really makes sense and I understand therefore there is no need to root the CC.
The Chromecast does load apps, but it loads them on demand over the internet rather than having them permanently installed. As far as I know Google has never restricted the availability of those loadable apps by region - the Chromecast worked in Canada and Europe long before it was officially sold in those regions. Of course an app may still be regionally restricted in the Apple app store or Google Play store for Android, but if you somehow work around that, its companion loadable app on the Chromecast won't be a problem.
However certain apps (like Netflix and Hulu) may impose region restrictions when you try to stream something. Even if you use a VPN on your casting computer/phone/tablet to access the geo-blocked content, the stream will fail to play on the Chromecast because it contacts the server site independently and gets hit with the same geo-blocking.
Alternatively you can use screen mirroring or tab casting from Chrome to relay the video stream to the Chromecast from your casting device, but it requires high performance, and people are still generally disappointed with the video quality.
I have been using a rooted Chromecast for more than a year. Recently however when I am unable to cast from either PC Chrome or Android phone. Team Eureka web panel indicates all ok and I can see my albums on TV when I switch to chromecast HDMI source. However, Cast app in Chrome cannot connect, unable to play youtube, HBOGo, etc. Any suggestions on how to resolve?

Try logging into your Chromecast via a web browser, then change the Team-Eureka Whitelist to the Google Whitelist.
This work for me.
Thanks that worked! Should I keep the Google whitelist going in future?
My LG TV SJ810V doesn't natively support Google Home/Chromecast, is there a way to install it in some ways or make it recognizable by Google Home in someways?
Like I have got many wifi remote control apps that are working with my tv, can't understand why Google Home cannot, even trough that apps.
The TV is a pretty new model and at the moment I have WebOS 5.x
I know that chromecast could be a solution but I hate redundancy cause my TV can already do what a chromecast can do.

The answer is no, you can't. From what i learned, google home only casts to chromecast/android tv/android boxes.

Same here, my webos tv is working well with Netflix and YouTube (and of course lg tv plus), but not with Google Home. This is because Netflix and Youtube support DIAL (which is what the Chromecast is based on).
yeah you read the title right, am not looking for how to cast "to" GTV with chromecast rather i am looking for a way to cast my GTV screen to another chromecast enabled device.
One of the reason to buy chromecast with GTV was an "implict" (though seems wrong) expectation that i would have google home from playstore and be able to cast screen from my GTV with chromecast to other chromecast enabled devices in household.
there is no google home in chromecast playstore (says not compatible), and i downloaded latest APK for google home and it runs and i can see all devices within home including chromecast enabled devices but all devices (including connect devices like lights/switches all are shown offfline except google nest thermostat).
I can guess some of you might ask why i want to cast, i use STBEMU to watch IPTV sub that is mac bound....and instead of replicating MAC on another device i was hoping to cast from the (master) gTV with chromecast. My cheap chinese/aliexpress S912 and 905x box can do such a thing albeit they crash every now and then when casting but gtv doesn't even gives me that option to cast
any pointers appreciated ....thanks

I missed the part where you actually tried to sideload a screen mirroring app on CCwGTV to see if you hit paydirt.

considering it runs Android / exposes play store...so its no different than mibox or a phone where tv is screen. In light of same i implicitly assumed i can run google home. (as i tried to state in original post, my android boxes can do that...albeit not very stable).
this ruined all my plans to run stmemu on one device and cast when i want to watch on other tv instead of buying multiple susbcription for my IPTV service. My second implicit assumption was i would find a solution on xda....never in last few years was a case that i wanted to do something with my android devices and XDA didnt had an answer
