I managed to downgrade using the fastboot method, but I didn't flash gpt.bin and bootloader.img.

Solved
Downgraded successfully without bootloader and Gpt

XT1064 on Lollipop. How do I relock bootloader?

My bootloader is currently unlocked and I want to relock it. I have an XT1064. I've tried downgrading to 21.11.17 and following the instructions for KitKat but it never works. What can I do?
Unfortunately I have yet been successful doing this. I think it's because some parts of the firmware can't be downgraded. I keep getting pre flash failure
i did just for kicks... and was successful on XT1069.
from what I understand when this problem happens, is related to the ROM you used to do the process that is described in this thread follow these step with a ROM that is perfect and will succeed.
I did with the good xml ROM for my device and it was perfect.
try other ROM xml file... all i now here
One thing, to receive an OTA is not need to be with bootloader locked...
But you must have a untouched original ROM and Recovery installed on the device...
So no root original ROM and recovery just that.
I say this because many worry that is need to have a locked bootloader to receive OTA, and is not.
Have you tried locking after being on 5.0 firmware
I don't remember (i think was 4.4.4 to 4.4.4)... but i will try (5.0.2 to 4.4.4 and lock it) and report. OK, maybe today if not tomorrow...
In theory is the same friend of my did form 5.0.0 to 4.4.4 no problem...

Pretty sure you can only relock 4.4.4 bootloaders (motoboot.img) with the oem lock
If you have updated to a lollipop 5.0.x bootloader you cant downgrade from a 5.0 boot loader and hence cant relock it (yet?)

You can downgrade if use a ROM or a backup to update. the bootloader will remaining the same.
I dont know if you update via OTA to L if the OTA is updating the boot loader...
But yes you can downgrade from 5.0.x to 4.4.4 regards the bootloader if did not update don't see way will not re-lock, if update the OS and bootloader maybe because will not recognize the OS and ROM even if it is all original, but i think it should...
I will tested and report... downgrade and re-lock the bootloader... But my bootloader is the same version it did not update because i use a ROM or a TWRP backup do upgrade to L.
I will update the ROM i using do a clean flash, before i will try the downgrade and re-lock process. :good:

yeah i'm talking bootloader I know you can go up or down between 4.4.4 roms and 5.0 roms , i've tried mfastboot, fastboot (different versions) as people say 'only this version works' and so far not found anything that works
Ever since I upgraded to 5.0 then downgraded 4.4.4 I can not lock the boot loader. I don't think anyone will be able to until there is 5.0 firmware

That's because the firmware you downloaded IS NOT the one for your region. The only way to fix it is to unlock the bootloader and then flash 6.0 again.
I guess you can't downgrade to 5.0.2 since your bootloader is already updated to 48.86 which is meant for 6.0.

I really appreciate your response. My bootloader is ineligible to be unlocked. I can flash the bootloader partition. The ones I can't flash are boot, oem, system, gpt, and a few other critical ones. The other issue I run into is the validation error when I do flash a new firmware. The stock won't flash due to security downgrade issues. If there is a way to get around it I would appreciate any and all help!

What is your exact model? You may have to wait for Pie official or next monthly update to flash

It would not flash however I found blankflash file for g6 ali variant. Is there a way I can use that without being in qualcomm mode?

Unfortunately, you're screwed until newer firmware that's later than 11/18 is released for your Trackfone/Straight Talk G6 or return for exchange for a new phone ?

I asked the same thing in another thread, and also pmed JoeGatto, he did reply "factory resetting and flashing the stock Oreo ROM".
I saw one of your posts advising not to flash bootloader or gpt, will flashing these cause errors?

I managed to downgrade!
I basically followed the instructions here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g6/how-to/guide-faster-updated-guide-to-root-t3914228
Except I didn't flash gpt.bin and bootloader.img.
Hey @Ragarianok can you help me please? I want to downgrade and relock the bootloader of my moto g6 also. I would appreciate if you gave me your discord or something. Thanks!
The easiest thing to do would be to unlock the bootloader, flash recovery, and just install an Oreo rom (I recommend AOSP Extended) and Google apps
you could just flash an 8.x oero rom so there isn't anything to "downgrade" in the traditional sense. Also these Moto phones need sGSI and not just GSI , i think so.
tnx

I do not want to install a custom rom/ AOSP, I just want to downgrade and then relock the bootloader in the downgraded version.

Factory Installed Pie and Oreo Downgrading

Hello,
Would someone tell me if it was possible to downgrade to Oreo if your phone came with PIE preinstalled? I was told it was a matter of the bootloader staying the same. If true, what would happen if the bootloader changed after I downgraded to Oreo and needed to reinstall? Would I be out of luck?
Thank you!!!!!

The bootloader cannot be downgraded unfortunately. What model device do you have? That's the first thing we will need to know before proceeding further.
