I purchased the carrier unlocked n8 from Best buy and using it in Verizon network. After realizing wifi calling and a few of the other features I wanted wouldn't work on the stock Samsung firmware I flashed to the Verizon AQ15 firmware using princecomsy modified odin. Now I'm receiving an OTA update and not sure if I should update OTA or going through odin?

You shoud be OK with this OTA update. It shouldn't update something that's not for firmware you are currently on.
Backup first and flash OTA, if something goes wrong (always have backup if you are doing anything else except stock official upgrade). That's the rule !

Hi. Just got in my hands Note 9 N960U. It is carrier unlocked. I am using it with UK EE sim card. It boos up with SPRINT logo and got some SPRINT blootware. Only issue I got so far is when I am trying to check for updates. It comes with below message-attached. Does it men I will not be able to update it using OTA? If so how to fix it?

If I were you I'd flash the stock USA u1 firmware on it. You can also use the PC based Samsung Smartswitch app to check and update firmware.

It likely has to do with the fact you're using it on a UK carrier and it's made for US carriers. Your best bet is to flash the unbranded U1 firmware.
Ok. Thanks for advice. Can I ask You to post link to newest u1 firmware I can flash? From what I read I am now on newest Pie firmware CSB3 for N960U. Is there U1 Pie version? Could not find any.

Download it with the SamFirm tool and flash it with patched ODIN
Many thanks for all your help. First of all I did factory reset. Than downloaded latest firmware through SamFirm (use [email protected] SM-N960U1 and Region: XAA) File: SM-N960U1_1_20190218084855_4mi2c0zg9o_fac
Than I downloaded Patched Odin v3.13.1 to flash firmware. Struggled initially with Odin ending up on ...SetupConnection.. <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1) but swapping usb cable from Samsung one to Google pixel xl genuine cable solved the problem and Odin finally started flashing procedure. Now just restoring through Smart Switch from backup. When going to Software update now in Settings it checks the Update and reports I am on newest one. So I am assuming it will download now any following OTA. Also got no Sprint or any other bloatware present. Happy days !!

Hey man ...are you on android pie or oreo?
What version of android you have downloaded from samfrim?

hi there,
I am using Samsung Galaxy note 9 (SM-N960U)
I live in Bangladesh
My phone is stuck at one ui 2.0 on may security patch level.
How can I upgrade to one ui 2.1 with latest security level as when I click on software update it says your phone is up to date
Here's my build number And service provider sw ver.
Could you please help me?
So, I recently switched from the s9+ to the Note 9. I flashed the unlocked variant from sammobile which is the SM-N960U1 as opposed to the N690U version T-Mobile has. When I go to check for OTA updates it doesn't work. I know there may not be updates currently but is this a problem because I didn't flash the CSC but the home CSC to keep all my data? Just wondering.
Hey guys...
Just got a used note 8 and I flashed it to Android pie with one ui (N950USQU5DSD3). Now the problem is that I can't update the phone via OTA. When I click software update its sticks at "registering device" with a spinning circle. Now I suspect that it's a U950W (my friend said it was locked with Bell and unlocked after the the plan ends). Now on sammobile.com the lastest firmware for note 8 (N950U) is N950USQS5DSF5. And I don't want to flash back to the Canadian version (n950w) because it doesn't get update as often as the n950u or n950u1 and it comes with a lot of Bell bloatware.
So for me to get a OTA without any bloatware, which version should I flashed?
Many many thanks.
I have a Note 9 SM-N960U purchased as used.
It is ATT branded.
The phone is unlocked but has not received any update since more than a year.
Checking for update in settings gives "the phone has the latest update".
I don't mind playing with odin but what firmwares should I flash?
Attached settings screenshot.
Edit: on sammobile latest OS for N960U with ATT CSC is Oreo 8.1.
Can I flash N960U firmware for USC CSC? latest is with Pie

Hey, sorry for opening up this old thread, but I'm going through a similar problem as you were, and were you able to successfully flash another Carrier's firmware to the AT&T?
If your device is unlocked. You should be able to install the Stock US Samsung OS onto your device and it should work perfectly
