Good luck to everyone :good:
This looks interesting. My phone is currently unlocked and i'm able to tether without the ATT tethering plan. If I did this update do you know if my phone would still be unlocked.. with tethering working?
thx

I test this method in devices unlocked by a code that I bought in libertyunlock.com, the unlock it's permanent, the tethering otherwise I don't really know if you will losing it, because the devices that I updated don't have a jailbreak and by this method (unlocking by code) you need the At&t tethering plan to tether. I presume that making an update in a device jailbreaked you will losing it at the time your firmware change...
Sorry for not be more useful Greg
I can however help a bit more
upgrading to 7.8 will not permanently lock your device, it will however attempt to relock its self once its installed, this can be stopped by either applying the relock prevent xap again or by applying the unlock again
if you update the firmware then all is not lost, you can stil unlock or remain unlocked as mentioned above, if you hard reset though you will not be able to apply the dev unlock as you had originally done
course this is all academic now that all 2nd gen samsungs can be unlocked regardless of their firmware, search around the WP7 forum for the answers, it is harder than the original unlock by beggar's cant be choosers

Any idea on how to push an update and what the updates actually fix? I'm at 2102.11.10.1 on AT&T US, but on 7.8
The only noticeable thing I found was the keyboard lag was gone, I'm sure there is more but that was the only big difference I saw

i purchased a Focus S, and when i got it it was still locked. plus it seems to be in a demo-content mode. i would like to knwo why is this? plus i realised it couldnt update it via Zune, so i dloaded a program that allowed me to do so. now its running 7.8 but its still in the demos content mode. where it resets every 12hours or so.
is it possible to turn off this mode, or was i duped?

Good question, what is your OS and firmware version?
Demo mode suggests that its not a retail model, it may be lacking features.
however, if you are running exactly the same OS and firmware version then perhaps we can compare and find out what is making it restart. I suspect that its different versions though

Awesome! I now have 7.8 working on my Focus S with no problems to report.
Interop
This worked flawlessly on the first try for me.
one problem though (or question)...
i was attempting to do an interop unlock, however i forced another backup not realizing that the original 7.5 backup would have been overwritten...
since i'm now faced with the samsung wireless manager apn list being empty issue, how do i go about getting the software downgraded without the backup or getting the interop unlock without the samsung wireless manager blocking the entire process?

that's the one, I don't understand why your not able to change the APN, the wireless manager is still on the market place
the process of the V3 unlock adds the correct settings to the APN settings, so if you had problems before on the older update process, you should try the new one anyway

I had kept my bootloader unlocked for flashing new ROMs but unfortunately i lost it on train and now i can understand that the theif can easily flash a new rom and so i can never retrive my device as far as i understood that i have to keep my bootloader locked but this means that i have to unlock and relock my bootloader each time i want to flash a new rom so this is very problematic for losing internal data too every time.
Also i don't have a job else i would have brought a new OP3T. I hope that in future OP can introduce some hardwire based tracking for lost devices , what do you people suggest?

I suggest that if the thief is able to flash a new ROM, he will be perfectly able to open the bootloader. So I recommend that you do not worry about having the bootloader open.
As for the tracking system, I think Google has already developed certain functions aimed at this use. When I have time I will investigate about this topic and update this post.
Please, be awere.

Try Google device manager. Thats the tracking tool you searching for. ?
not a big deal to reset FRP. Samsung and LG FRP takes only few minutes to be removed with z3x box. i think even stock rom have some bugs to bypass FRP. Best way is not to loose your phone.
It won't help you now, but take a screenshot of your imei, then back it up to your photos. If your phone is lost or stolen report it and depending on what country you live in, it will be black listed. Then it won't work on any carrier, no matter which rom is flashed.

Since I had kept my bootloader unlocked I believe that can easily flash a new rom so Android device manager won't be useful at all

Ya I know that I have already submitted FIR in police with the IMEI number but I believe these days they remove all the parts and sell the parts differently so very less chance in recovery

Hey there, First time Posting but Long time Lurker.
I was wondering if theirs a site for a firmware for this device. A buddy of mine bought one off eBay and well my buddy forgot to unlock the OEM and Enable Debug...... (Rip)
It's Probably really early for anything since the phones just come out but was wondering if anyone here knew of a site thats run by Samsung or something that has retail roms to
fix demo models.
Any help is help, ive tried doing factory roms and everything but it just goes to Fail Modem on boot with unauthorized os.
Thanks!

Hey Guys,
First of all for the toads living inside the well who hasn't seen the outside world: A Demo model isn't always necessarily stolen. These are given by samsung for earliest testers and or app developers whom are sponsored by Samsung. Also, When the Product reaches EOL, Samsung never collects them. Those are usually distributed among the staff, and or close associates of the store keepers. You'll see them a lot on eBay, But never pay and obtain one - because that might be stolen. If you are receiving one from a legit source for no payment, Nothing to worry. These Demo's are never sold, and are always distributed or placed in stores for free. Also, They have a tracing app which shows where they are placed, on which date and by whom, along with it's power on/off state, and a separate FOTA Server for Demo content to be downloaded.
For the Solutions: You can always flash them with the regular firmware once you identify the CPU Type. Install an app like CPUZ from an OTG, and then run it. Check the CPU type (Snapdragon or Exynos).
If it's Exynos it should be N960F firmware, and If Snapdragon it should be S. I'm not so sure about Snapdragon, but the surest way to verify this is check the units which are sold to customers in the same store. Demo's are usually based on the region.
When flashing through Odin, You can load all 4 files, the modem won't be rejected if it's the same CPU. (I've done it numerous times for Exynos devices). Before flashing, Make sure to tick Nand-Erase option in Odin, and Flash it away.
If You've screwed up the device to a potato state with Download Mode, Download the firmware files from a Paid Site (Won't link them here, You can Google for them using the firmware code on the demo device).
Hope this info helps you mate, If not or if you need more information - Send me a PM with the Questions.

Thanks for answer. Fully agree with you about low IQ people who think Live Demo Unite - it's "probably stolen unite .." ...
SM-N960XU
1. if some one have this model , do not flash it before you go in to "retail mode app" - and enter login and password - to disable ( not remove ) - retail mode...
login and password easy to find on itnernet for free.
2. i didnt desable retail software before going to flash my note9.. and this is problem... now , knox loader - wont start new firmware.. all flashing going well... Odin say nothing , but ... green sreen and "security error - on restart"...
Nothing helping.
- wiping cash - not helping
- wiping to factory settings ( from recovery ) - is desabled by MDM ,
what is MDM ?
MDM (Mobile Device Management) Policy is a software package that Samsung will supply enterprise. The companies want use smartphones and tablets as a tool to support their employees but they want to limit some functions such as Camera function is disable, Browser function is disable...and now, my team will solve "MDM does not allow factoryReset"

well... nothing helps.
but here some interesting finds...

SM-N960XU
Look at this :

but URL states : SM-N960XZKUXAC
If i am understand right , this is full name of regular phone ?
SM-N960XZKUXAC
so i am probably need to look for some firmware for SM-N960XZ ? Corrert ?
--------
Anyway - what i will to try now, i want to install custom recovery. and from custom recovery i will wipe system and install fresh firmare.
i think custom recovery will replace - samsung recovery what is blocking phone from starts new firmware..
but only one problem...
when i try to install twpr - ODIN3 - tells me : complete write operation failed
So it's means : knox wont let me replace it self..
WHAT TO DO ?

XDA doesn’t allow this kind of posting as it’s a grey area!! Stolen or not! None of you can prove you purchased via legit mean?? As even Samsung does not sell them so how can it be legit?? And don’t say eBay/Amazon it can be stolen and resold on there! So you can kiss those theory goodbye!!
That’s why they don’t have modems, as Samsung did not release them for the general public! You can’t bypass no matter how much you flash it! Mods shut this thread down before someone grows some i.q! LOL

Flashing /system to remove reactiviation lock
Reactivation lock is activated when the device was reset while wiped via either ADB or Recovery (likely either you or the seller stole it). You will need to flash the newest firmware for your device & carrier using Odin. You can usually find these on SamMobile if it isnt avaliable anywhere else. After its reflashed setup the device without a internet or sim card installed. If y oku have any trouble using Odin there are plenty of tutorials on it avaliable online.

So, ive been on the Transfagarasan, the Transraraul, Sibiu, Brasov, Sigisuara, Castle Bran, Lacul Rosu (The Red Lake) and a few other treasures! We didnt get a chance to make it to Iasi either time yet despite its proximity to Piatra Neamt, which is where we call our home base. I am honestly curious to get your perspective on what are some of the best things to do/see in Romania. Doesnt have to be something like the people palace, i like real stuff. Restaurants that make the best ciorba(soup) and mancare(stew) or just a relaxing lakeside getaway. Do you have any places you think a goofball American might like?

thanks in advance
MDM meaning Mobile Device Manager?
Go to Settings > Security > Device Admin Apps, and disable whatever is in there. If that agent was still present after a factory reset I would highly recommend flashing a factory image with the Android Flash Tool, after you've enabled developer options and USB debugging.

Are you able to remove the MDM app?
Unfortunately, the ability to unlock the bootloader is set at ROM build time, so if you got a device that was sold to a particular enterprise, for example, they may have specified that ability to be disabled. That also may mean that the MDM app was baked into system, which means that a factory reset won't remove it.
Still....you can try rebooting to recovery and try to perform a factory reset there, although I suspect as I mentioned the MDM may actually be integral to the firmware.
yeah the app is bakeday firmware as you said, there are a bypass trick for android 11 but yesterday i got the ota and i m stuck on set up screen with a google authentification and no workaround to bypass this cheat

Please read this thread. If you buy an enterprise device, it will likely have an MDM app baked into the firmware that you cannot remove without root; unfortunately, root is not possible without unlocking the bootloader, and unlocking the bootloader is not possible if OEM unlocking is not allowed in the ROM.

If you buy an enterprise device, it will likely have an MDM app baked into the firmware that you cannot remove without root; unfortunately, root is not possible without unlocking the bootloader, and unlocking the bootloader is not possible if OEM unlocking is not allowed in the ROM.

What works? Your question isn't clear.
Again: If you bought an Enterprise device, it is likely that you will NOT be able to remove the MDM app or root the device - regardless of the Android version.

My phone with mdm was working good with "verizon cell unlock" method (via adb) on Android 11.
For Android 12 that method is not working
I searching for another solution.
Now I removed com.android.vending (play market). Without play market device working well, but...no market.

By "unlock" do you mean bootloader unlock, or carrier unlock?
I'm still not quite sure what you are asking.

MDM lock. Phone has "MobileIron" integration. When i connect to intternet - "Your device controls by admin, all data will be wiped in 2 hrs". Cell also unlocked. Bootloader inactive and locked.
But cell unlock method was working for it (with android 11). For android 12 - not

It is an enterprise device - meaning, as I've pointed out, that the MDM app is integral with the firmware. This, coupled with the fact you cannot unlock the bootloader, severely limits what you can do with the device.
If you're specifically asking about carrier unlock to use it on a different carrier, that is a different topic that needs it own thread. Please do not hijack threads with off topic comments.
I think you don't understand me correctly... But, ok.

Help me understand. What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
I just bought a used Pixel 5 and encountered an MDM lock. Phone was functioning fine on A11 but after upgrading to A12, the following message pops up and won't let me continue using the device:
"Your device controls by admin, all data will be wiped in 2 hours".
Resetting my device doesn't help, the same error comes back during Android setup.
The good news is that after contacting the seller they assured me that they will contact the original enterprise owner and that MDM unlocking can easily be done remotely. Bad news is that I'm assuming even after MDM unlock the bootloader will remain locked since this device obviously didn't come from Google directly. But fingers crossed.

Best of luck, this is why I don't ever recommend buying surplus enterprise devices for consumer use
