Oxygen OS Pie community build - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

Hey ppl, just installed it on my 3t, but when I try to install magisk, it says successful in TWRP, but when I boot up into system, it says not rooted. BUT the system partition is full and I can read it, but not write... There is some weird issue. Can anyone follow my problem?:silly:
Overall nice, what OnePlus did

Reflashing the Magisk zip solves the issue I suppose. It fixed it for me on some other ROMs too.

I was trying, even tried to flash oos in between so that boot.img is stock again... No chance, tried SuperSU , and it says root isn't installed correctly on device.

You probably didn't have magisk manager installed, check it? If that's the case download apk from Magisk thread and installing should deal with the issue.

TWRP/Stock Recovery can´t install any Rom!

Hello i need help. I was on OOS 4.0. Like to update to 4.0.1 with clean System. So i boot to TWRP and make fullwipe(format:data/system/cache-dalvik cache)
After flash the 4.0.1 twrp says no os install. Ihave test another rom from this side https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/how-to/zip-flashable-firmware-modem-t3509015 but no way.
After that i flash stock recovery (fastboot) and stock rom via adb sideload but after 46% the installation failed (3 times).
Sorry for bad english and thanks for all
I read somewhere that TWRP is not compatible with the OSS 4.0 or higher and that's why you get errors when trying to install them. So, to make it work you gotta install the newest and beta version of TWRP...
Here you go, as I already said, it's a beta version, I'm not 100% sure if it'll work...

I installed OSS 4.0 without issues on TWRP 3.0.3.
It sounds more like a bad download to me. Try to redownload the file and flash it again.

Could you install it?
There's a way to flash the 36MB OTA file in TWRP without downloading the full 4.0.1 zip.
I think the OTA fails and gets stuck because of SuperSU or Magisk modifies the boot.img
So, you could try this:
1. Dirty flash the full 4.0 zip
2. Flash 4.0.1
3. Flash SuperSU/Magisk

TWRP can't install partial OTA updates.
It can install full 4.0 ZIP, but AFAIK, it can't install partial updates.

Have you tried reading solutions about the last OTA on other XDA's posts?
I've been reading just to spend time and they have found a lot of solutions to some errors with TWRP

Not really, as I moved to LineageOS.
I just wanted to say that 4.0 worked fine for me , so his error shouldn't be because of that.

?Guide for 4.1.6 TWRP/Magisk --> 4.1.7

Hi folks,
I'm considering taking my OP3T from 4.1.6 to the just released 4.1.7, more to get rid of the nag notification than anything else. But I want to double check the process since this will be my first update since I got the phone.
I have TWRP and Magisk root.
Would the process be to download the entire full package, not just the OTA, flash it from TWRP, then reflash TWRP and Magisk before booting? Or would I need to flash via fastboot based on what is available?
I will make a TWRP backup of the whole thing and copy it to PC before starting anything, but would rather not klutz around.
Is there an update guide that spells it out for the case of being rooted and TWRP enabled?
Thanks

OTA will be enough, just copy the ota zip to the phone and then flash it via TWRP, reflash Magisk and boot the system. No need for full package or TWRP reflash.

Yes, forgot to mention about it
I think you should download the complete OS zip. Have a look at the thread below in OnePlus forum.

Nope,
You are wrong.
For rooted systems, you need to flash the whole 1.4gb Rom.
Also, for the OP, no need to reflash TWRP. It won't be affected by the flashing of the rom.

So, flash the whole ROM (which apparently doesn't include recovery since that's a separate download) in TWRP, then Magisk, then clear cache/dalvik?

i dont know why that happening
after zip downloaded getting black window then pop up shown about error
i think it cant patch boot img properly
in my old rom it works properly, but after flashing it did not work

Try installing it in recovery
I sometimes get that majisk stopped toast on just about any ROM and just about any majisk release. I just ignore it. I have no idea of the what or why. Haven't noticed it affecting anything.
Yes. It's happening to me too. Does it work if I flash this update with twrp?

Having the exact same issue on a pixel xl. Tried on 7.1 and 8.1, both with the same result.
I never use manager. Always TWRP, and can people start searching and using the support thread for questions, logs, and bugs instead of keep making a hundred useless threads of the same thing, can't install, can't install modules, etc. That's what support thread for. Thanks.

No, i am flashing from start
I just flash new miui (full wipe, factory reset)
and i also try to update from Magisk manager but when the flash screen appear, magisk manager force close (I already tried to clear data of Magisk manager and tried to update again but no success)
Now i can have root with Magisk 14.0 but when i tried to update to 15.2 using TWRP, it just disappear lol
(Flashing normally, no error, restart phone, go to magisk manager -> magisk is not installed )

Error 1 after reflashing ROM, can't (un)install Magisk

Hello, so I decided to reflash my ROM because I kept running into issues, and I didn't uninstall Magisk before doing so.
Then when I tried flashing Magisk it showed me error 1. Flashing the uninstaller gives the same error. Magisk Manager shows that it is not installed, Root Checker states that the device is unrooted, and so far the only app that mentioned my phone being rooted is LastPass.
What can I possibly do to reinstall Magisk so it's back on my device in its full grace?
I checked other posts and either they are not related to my problem or didn't help
Phone: Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Snapdragon, Recovery: official TWRP non-treble, ROM: latest build of official AOSP Extended
Maybe try dirty flashing and flashing Magisk again?
Not Sally when Magisk is already installed, I can flash it again with no problem. Weird that you're having these issues. ?

Did you wipe everything? Wipe system and data before re flashing your rom.
@LennyTheCat To be absolutely sure what's going on you're going to have to provide the recovery log, saved after you've attempted you flash Magisk.

Try updating your TWRP. That has solved "cannot mount vendor" for other Mido users.

well, it has installed no problem, but then my phone got stuck in a bootloop after rebooting. I have to reflash everything now, will tell if it worked later
@Didgeridoohan when I install Magisk, the phone keeps running into bootloops. Clean install of the ROM and Gapps seems to work fine. Tried 16.0 and 16.4 packages

Well... You're using a Treble ROM, right? So I'm assuming you're using a Treble modified Magisk version (since there's no official Treble support in Magisk yet)... If not, I'm sure you can find the relevant information in your ROM's thread.
Always go to the source...

I decided to flash Lineage OS and then I flashed the Magisk package included in the post. Now it's working all squeaky and shiny. Thanks for help anyway

[Pie] Magisk installs fine in TWRP but missing upon reboot

I suppose I'm missing something obvious, but I don't know what it is.
Unlocked bootloader, fresh install of Pie via unrooted Oreo 8.1 and official OTAs. Use fastboot to boot into latest TWRP (3.2.3-1) and install Magisk 18.0 via zip. Wipe cache, reboot. Magisk is missing from the app drawer.
Thoughts?

You have got to be kidding me. I swear, I didn't have to install the manager separately with my Pixel 3.
*sigh* I've been out of this for too long. Thanks!
