Stay with oreo

System updates bring a newer look to your phone, fixes bugs, solves most heating problems (which mostly depends upon your phone's processor) and gives you a faster and improved performance and they are often necessary for device security or efficiency. And be sure to install (and use) Secure Update Scanner so you don't fall victim to the pileup flaw.

Updating worth it? (October patch -> Pie)

Hey, recently bought a new device which had firmware with october Security patch and got unlocked and Android Pixel experience flashed. Is there any profit if i update the device to official pie and go for custom roms again afterwards? (Like having updated vendor?)
Coming from S8 where no treble exists.
Well.. I've updated to Pie and except for that freeze issue that was also present in 8.1, I have no other complains. It does run well, battery life is the same.
I intend to move to custom ROM soon to fix that freeze issue which is only present in devices with Micron memory (the others with Samsung memory are fine).
So yeah, I say it does worth to move to custom Pie ROM. Kernels are usually better than stock. And this was proven when they didn't fix the freeze issue in official kernel.

Note 8 from oreo to pie and back

Hello friends im courently on android oreo january security patch and its running flawlessly, in a couple of days android pie shoud arive and my question is before i update what shoud i check before update so that i wont have any problems if i dont like it to get it back to oreo (i only know how to use odin would that be inaf or should i check binary code to match before update because i think that it can't downgrade from a higher binery to a smaller or something else)? Im questioning this because i found on gsm arena that a lot of users having all sort of isues after update in their countries! Thank you for your time all the best! :good:

A2 update to pie or not?

I am still using oreo because pie had loads of bugs.
So, I want to know whether July's Security Patch is stable enough to replace Oreo?
Will I be able to rollback to Oreo after the update?
Is there any patch for fingerprint bug on oreo cuz rest is working just fine.
Or should I go for Miui?

Note 9 stuck on Android 8.1.0

I just got the Galaxy Note 9 (SM-N960F/DS) and it's still on Android 8.1.0, security patch level December 1, 2018.
It won't update OTA, nor via Smart Switch.
The build number is M1AJQ.N960FXXS2ARL4, CSC is N960FOXM2ARK2
Is there a way to update it to at least Android 9.0?
Thanks in advance.

I do not know what you mean by genuine, it's original and unlocked.
How do I update it via ODIN if the firmware for this model hasn't been released yet?
Can I use any firmware to do it?

Man, the firmware for that phone with Pie has been release about a year ago..
Just because you didn´t get the OTA does not mean it hasn´t been released.
Just do a search here
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note9/firmware/#SM-N960F
for your country code to get the latest
Also search the forum for the latest ODIN version, and you must know if your phone has a SnapDragon CPU or an Exynos CPU if you would like to install custom roms and/or TWRP recovery
Go for it..
OP your so lucky to be on oreo I'm jealous
Better to Stay on Oreo That Update it to Pie/10

Waw.. How lucky you are.
i think better you stay in Oreo that updated it to Android 9 (Pie) Or Android 10.
IMHO, true Power of Galaxy Note 9 is on Oreo. The Multitasking menu is far usable in Oreo than Pie. The Pro Video mode is basically available on Oreo. also, you can slide the Shutter button to Zoom-in/out. Thats only on Note 9's Oreo.
Believe me, you'll regret it once you've successfully update to Pie. CMIIW
Can safely say that Android 10 OneUI 2.1 is the best software for the Note9.

When I play Asphalt 9 it gets really hot but I'm not a gamer so that's a rare event for me xd That said that's the only game which really heats up my phone so much, others make it normally warmer.
Otherwise i haven't seen any issues at all the last 4 months since I bought the phone, Exynos version as well. I'm on OneUI 2.1 since 1 month ago. I never had the famous screen tint issue that others were reporting.
Mine was stuck on Oreo too. Always said that my device was up to date every time I would check... I downloaded android 10 from some where and used patched od to install it. Had to do a lot of updating of apps when it booted up but that's how it is.

Question Mi 11 ultra security patch update

Hi Everyone,
As you probably know, Microsoft is obsessed with requiring the latest security patch for its applications for enterprises. However, Xiaomi can't keep up with the updates. I was wondering if there is a way to update security patch it manually with root or without root. This is literally effecting my experience while using a premium phone.
I received a new update 13.0.7.0 today. Right on time. I was about to sell my phone tomorrow. Very frustrated.
