Notification Bar Bug: Keeps going semi- transparent - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

Please I need help if possible.
I've had my Samsung S10 for a month, and it's been great but i've a new problem and I can't seem to figure out why it is happening. See the picture below.
The notification bar keeps turning semi-transparent/blurred. Why is this happening, i've uninstalled up, it's the same on Nova Launcher & TouchWiz.
It's not clear why this is happening. I've reset wallpapers etc, but can't fix it.
When I reboot the phone it disappears, but either within a few mins or hours it reappears and seriously devalues the home screen.
Please help. How can i rectify this?
Any help is much appreciated.

have you tried to use the default theme?
do you use good lock, if so- what good lock apps do you use?

I made lock screen notification background 100% transparent, that helped.

hi
thx to both you.
I've somehow fixed it and used partly your ideas.
I removed apps one by one and rebooted countless times, but no lucks.
Also then changed settins and rebooted many times.
I changed some notificaition settings too, and rebooted.
However, I've no idea what it is that helped to sort it out.
I know there are others with this problem, I think it is do with Good Lock and Edge Lighting+, i've not readded Good Lock.
Thx to all, if anyone else has this problem then post here and I'll try to help you.
:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed: Again thx to those who replied to my request above.

Darn!
I think i spoke too soon! The problem reoccurred a day later
So having done also soft reboots, I don't believe it's the apps.
BUT what is the cause of that problem I can't fathom.
So sadly I have done a full factory reset! which is poor.
Hopefully that's the full end of it.
If anyone does figure out the reason for why this occurs, please post it here for all. thx

Hey.
I might have found the solution for that, without restarting the phone.
Got the S10+ few weeks ago and had the same issue with the status/notification bar going semi-trans (blurry).
I have fingerprint and pattern set as unlock options. The status bar goes fully transparent again when unlocking the phone with the pattern.
Now, still not sure what's causing this 'issue' but at least the solution was found (and it's not to restart the phone).
Hope this is going to work for you as well.
Cheers

Had the same issue, sent it to service so they could fix this...not sure if it's a phone problem or software, but I tried everything. Don't use Good Lock, nor any dubious third party apps. At one point, the screen started to flicker on lock screen, quite peculiar. But the blur effect really bugged me, sometimes it appeared in a couple of minutes, hours or even days, randomly. Is Samsung aware of this issue?

iggyp44 - Hi, thx for that, but I found the only solution was to do a hard reset, which I sadly did. Never reappeared since then.
Axys72 - I've sent a message on this to Samsung, that's all i know if they are aware or care.
Seems like a few of us have had this problem, so hopefully they will work on it to sort it out.
Only solution for me was a hard reset.

I've had the same issue... My suspection for what causing it: when I using galaxy buds and receive a massage via fb massenger... So far I noticed that twice, but I'm not sure if this really is the cause... Looking forward for solution, it's driving me somewhat crazy ?
Gregor

Turn off the fingerprint unlock animation. That's what's causing it.

S10+ notification turns green

I tried settings reset and also hard reset it's the same
Rest the entire phone works fine
Can anybody suggest what could be an issue

[Q] Auto Clicking

Hi Guys,
This issue has been really p*****g me off over the last two days... so, would reapply appreciate any help on this...
Yesterday or day before, I was just scrolling through the menus of the phone and decided to do a horizontal calibration (i've never done this since the getting the phone about two months back).
Settings > Display > Horizontal Calibration
And ever since I did the calibration, the screen has been really screwing up with me. Basically, what happens is that, a certain area of the screen gets automatically clicked!! This happens to a specific area of the screen. For example, when I get to the home screen from the app drawer, the widget that I normally have in this area gets clicked on for no apparent reason, and then I have to hit the back key to get back to the home screen. This happens about 5 times and then seems to go away for a while. However, it happens all over again when I use the phone after a little while.

}
In the attached screen capture of my home screen, I have highlighted the area of the screen where this happens in red. This happens not only from the home screen, but from within any open app as well.... For example, when I view the "my apps" section in the Android Market app, the app that happens to be listed in the above area get automatically selected!!!
I have re-calibrated the screen, re-started the phone and the only thing I've left to do is a hard reset. I'm not too keen on doing this as I don't fancy having to re-install 70+ apps all over again!!
Have any of you guys encountered anything like this ?
Would really really appreciate any help on this as this is really flipping me over!!
Thanks in advance,
Cheers,
anyone......?
cmon, am I da first one on XDA to experience this issue?

[Q] Auto Clicking - Sorted
ah! no replied at all!!!
neways, finally got this sorted by having the screen replaced!! luckily the phone is still under warranty... otherwise it would hav cost me around 250$ to get it done apparently (according to the service center guy who did it)!!
tried hard resetting, data+cache wipe and even flashed with a different ROM (darky's).... but nothing worked.... so, finally took it to the service center... luckily those people didn't notice that the phone has been rooted and all that plus, got a gud rappo with one of the technicians over there, so got it back the next day as well....
cheers.....

I'm sorry to hear that I don't have any problem with them
But can you be more specific:-?? maby you can make a picture and upload it here?
Anybody have this problem???
Yup, having the same exact problem on an HTC Arrive...it basically looks like it picks up portions of what should be on top of it (the lock screen info), and then duplicates them in a tiled fashion. Then if you scoot it up it goes transparent as it should...if you release before it gets all the way up & let the lock screen drop back down then it will display what I said above, plus some of what should be below it on the start screen as well.
So it makes for one really weird looking background...but the instant you touch it an start moving it it goes transparent and looks good.
you may want to state what WP7 version you use when you reply. We know it doesn't work on Mango. Transparent wallpapers will be messed up in Mango.
thank you nevertheless to nichitandrei.

As derausgewanderte said, transparent wallpapers have that issue in Mango. The new media controls must have some effect on this. The same thing happens to the start screen if you edit the registry value for the bg color to full transparent.

Galaxy Note 8 pop up ads

Beginning this morning I started receiving full screen pop up ads every 60 seconds. Its been continuous for the last 6 hours. They pop up regardless of any ap I may be using at the time. A few ad examples are attached. My Note 8 is Model SM-950U1, version 4.4.78

I was having similar issue some days back. Please go to settings>Apps and check if there is any application installed at the end of list with no name. Uninstall that one and see if that fixes your problem.
An app u recently installed.. Or visited.. It happened to me.. I l
Cleaned uo history in browser and went through apps
Solved
In my case it was a Call Recorder that I downloaded yesterday. I didn't like it so I uninstalled it about an hour later. However, it seems to have left one program behind, called Phone Services. I uninstalled it today and at the beginning of the uninstall, I got an error message that warned phone services was needed by call recorder. All was well after I uninstalled phone services. Thanks for all the inputs. I appreciate them.
Good you could find the culprit

I have helped people with this before and had a few of these on my note. First, diagnostics.
1. Hold down your power button to bring up your power menu.
2. Hold down on the Power Off icon and it will prompt you to restart your phone in safe mode. Do so and see if the problem goes away.
3-A. If it persists, then you may need to go to your samsung internet browser and clear out all website data.
3-B if the problem stops. Then its a 3rd party app and I would need more information to help you track it down. PM me with your results or questions.

Question Wallpaper issue after factory reset

Hi folks.
could someone help me from this trapped situation I face since I was obliged to factory reset my S21 UTLRA?
After restoring everything overnight, in the morning I finished some fine-tuned stuff... like banks, smart home, and sports, etc. app logins. All fine but weirdly any of my set wallpaper last just a couple of minutes. I dint measure but for sure less than 5 minutes. Then literally it switches back to gradient blue, on both the lock-screen and home-screen. ALWAYS JUST THIS ONE BLUE WALLPAPER. I cannot find even the source of this wallpare... . I have tried everything on the setting. Deleted NOVA and returned back to stock Samsung launcher, deleted and reinstalled Samsung native app, but still present. I have changed the resolution, screen setting, wallpapers dynamic setting, NO AVAIL Before I FR again my phone, I ask you for your help. What causing this damn problem ? ANy idea please?
Did you freeze something? That's a definitely weird issue
You use SmartSwitch? That device to that device? No firmware updates prior?
It should be ok... otherwise you may need to reload manually.
Otherwise avoid another factory reset as the issue is likely to reoccur. Make sure all critical data is redundantly backed up, SmartSwitch is not a reliable backup!!!
A full manual reload may be required if you can't track the issues down.
Kill Nova and all power management.
Manually set wallpaper.
If that doesn't work clear system cache and the data in the related Samsung apps.
I'm working with P and Q, wallpaper setup takes me less than 5 minutes to generate and set*.
R is a runt of an OS...
Play with it and/or find a workaround.
*SmartSwitch didn't save (save home screen) the wallpaper or icon pack when migrating from the N10+/Pie to a new N10+/Q however the new setup seems ok and stable.
I may need to do a manual reload latter though instead of the SmartSwitch shake&bake load
Guys, thank you for your time answering my question. I have used restore from Samsung. Factory reset again overnight. NO AVAIL. But I know the live wallpaper comes from some remnant weather app, likely Transparent weather or Weather Live apps. Did not help any restore, or deleted. Now I try to factory reset third time and will install app-by-app all I need, not using restore from backup anymore. It should help. BTW I was trying to find the location of these live wallpapers, since also after deletion of all-weather app the Live wallpaper came back after the period needed for weather updates (couple of minutes... or so)
Cheers and thanks again

Oh, live wallpaper, specific... I hear that.
Some of the weather have great graphics.
Almost forgot you could have animated wallpaper.
Samsung has no easy way to save themes, icon packs etc. A shortcoming they've never corrected.
Guys, I want to thank you for your inputs and share that all is good. It was however painful since I didn't use recovery (neither from google nor from Samsung) manually installed all 178 apps and adjusted settings on home and system. Learned that backup contained some bug (I am not aware what) but each time I did restore, the old problem came up. So all good and let's go towards to Lord. Stay safe and healthy and God bless. Cheers

Split Screen to Split Top

Please bear with me if this seems like the dumbest post in the world.
Ok, so right up until a few weeks ago, i loved the split screen feature on my phone. It was as easy as hitting the square button on the bottom, choosing split screen on one app, app folds itself up creating a space below, and then selecting another app to share the screen with. Easy peezee. Could have a video playing in VLC while perusing rss feeds in Newsfold, either on top of one another in portrait mode or side by side in landscape etc. Even my long dead grandmama could do this.
Fast forward to one day last month, i download some usual pixel update prompted by phone, only to discover my oft used split screen is now no more, but now "split top". It doesn't split the screen like it used to do, and i can't figure out how this split top thing is supposed to work. Plus it always says "Pixel Launcher keeps stopping" after several attempts to use the split top function, which is indicating that Pixel Launcher has crashed. But i din't use Pixel Launcher or have it as my default, i've always used Nova Launcher.
Basically i was doing just fine until whatever this update (which i am assuming is 12L) that has ruined split screen for me.
Is there a way to go back to the old split screen way? Or, how the heck do you split screen with this "split top"? I searched around the web and can't seem to find a solution.
I'm really not enjoying my device or being as productive as i used to be.
Hello @LordLugard I just registered to reply here.
After wasting so much time trying to fix this bug on my end, and several factory resets where it didn't fail at the beginning but then it eventually did, I found the solution on another post of a different forum:
-Turn ON system animations.
That's it. That's how it got solved. If you turn them off, the new split screen doesn't work at all. I'm afraid this must be an Android 12.1 bug because I had the exact same bug in a Poco F2 Pro with Lineage 19.1 and Trebuchet as launcher, so it's not phone model specific, not ROM specific, and not even launcher specific.
I hope this helps someone

Thanks for the reply.
Where would you "Turn ON system animations"?
I have it in:
"Settings/Accessibility/Text And Display/Remove Animations"
I had this switch on (meaning no animations), what caused split screen to crash. Turning it off solved it.
Hmmm, doesn't work for me. Mine was already in the "OFF" position.
What the heck was ever wrong with the old simple way? It just worked.

Bummer, sorry that it didn't help. It just did for me.
I don't think so, but maybe you activated Developer options, and then changed the value of the animations scales?
Just to discard animation related settings.
I'm afraid I'm of no help beyond that
Well, what do you know...a bit of success.
Since time immemorial, i've always turned off animations in Developer Options to 0, as i do not care for all the fluffy visuals.
So on a whim i decided to tinker and set it to the lowest value, 0.5x, and that seems to work now. But the implementation is so much different than the old way, will take some getting used to. The old method was so much better.
Thanks for the input.
I'm glad it helped at the end!
I fully agree on everything, I don't want animations either, but we're stuck with them if we want split screen as long as they keep this bug...
Also not a fan of this new and worse split screen method. You press Home and both apps are gone.

1,000% this. I'll be returning my brand-new Pixel 6 and returning to my old phone which will never even be eligible for A12
