Can i use Whatsapp on P7300 with sim card?
Let me answer my own question. I just installed it, and it works like a charm.
And a few updates later, WhatsApp seems to be deliberately coded so it doesn't work on tablets. Don't ask me why, because I think it is just very stupid and don't understand why they do this. The developer also replies without apparently reading any questions asked. (I asked why the android version doesn't offer the ability to just fill in the number from the SMS like the WP/iOS versions used to do, got reply "What is your iOS version?".. yeah, right.)
Aaanyway. As you all know, the Tab 8.9 (3G) is perfectly capable of sending/receiving SMS and also capable of 3G/WiFi data. So it fulfills any and all requirements WhatsApp should have. But somehow it doesn't work. I have everything else working on my Tab 8.9 (yes, I can send/receive SMS) but WhatsApp "identification" fails 100% of the time.
Is there currently a way to have WhatsApp working on this device?
hi it worked for me fine . i downloaded the apk file off the website not play store . i entered my sim card number thats in my cell not the tab as the verification number and it worked .

So the actual number doesn't have to be the same? Because the Tab has a different number from the cell phone. I need to try that.

I run what's app on my 7310 Wi-Fi only tab. I installed it on my phone, set it up, then made a backup through titanium. Then installed the apk on my tab, then copied the backup across from my phone. Works great and has been for a long time. The only problem you'll get is if you try and use what's app on your phone with the same phone number as the tab as it stops it from working on the tab.

I got myself a pay as you go SIM card. Put that in my phone and installed what's app registering it with the pay as you go number. Then made a back up through titanium. I then downloaded the apk for what's app and installed manually on my tab, then copied across the what's app files from titanium back up from my phone into the tab. All works perfectly. It updates as it should etc. The only time it stopped working was when I put the pay as you go SIM back in my phone. If you don't try and use the SIM you used to set it up its fine.
I have downloaded Whatsapp yesterday from their website. Filled in my phone number (the number of the SIM in my Tab) and it automatically activated whatsapp after approximately 10 minutes. Did you try deleting all the data of your previous installation and installing a new version from their website? Seems weird that for some people this does work and for other people it doesn't.

That's true. But maybe, just MAYBE it has something to do with WhatsApp's servers or something. That, some mystical entity is playing with us. I say that because I got it working on my Tab just fine... after about 20 tries. I had to disable WiFi altogether and then try multiple times. Then suddenly it worked. Just the Tab, no external SIM cards of phones were used. Just a simple working SIM card in the Tab was all. The exact same setup I tried many, many times in the past.
I have absolutely NO clue why it worked this time (other than that it has something to do with internet connectivity on their end).
Hi,
Someone stole my phone the other day, and I was told to report it to the police etc. However, they asked for my IMEI number so they can block it and I don't have it -_- The sticker on the box has also been ripped so I can't find out that way.
The thing is, I have an efs backup from my Galaxy before it got stolen. Is it possible to find my IMEI number from this backup without the use of a phone?
Or would I be able to use this backup on another i9000, to get the IMEI so I can report it? Cause I know someone is using my phone cause I can see them downloading games etc on my Google account but they wont reply/give back my phone.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
I think it should be possible, but i have no idea how :S
But another tip if someone has stolen your phone, install Lockout from Google Play to your phone and you will see where your phone is.

Use Plan B
Follow these easy steps to use Plan B:
1. Install Plan B to the phone that you are trying to find from the Android Market website: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.lookout.labs.planb.
2. Plan B will start automatically and send your phone’s location to your Gmail address.
3. To locate again after 10 minutes, borrow a friend’s phone and text the word “locate” to your lost phone.
Using Plan B is simple, but requires access to the Android Market website and your Google account. (If you have an Android phone, you already have a Google account.)
After you install it, Plan B will start locating your phone using cell towers and GPS. On some phones, Plan B can switch GPS on automatically. Your location will keep updating for 10 minutes, and you will get an email each time it is located, whether the phone is moving or standing still. You can start the process again by texting “locate” to your number from any other phone. In order to locate your phone, we send you a text via SMS, so standard message rates apply.
Once you have found your phone, download Lookout Mobile Security for full protection.
Best to install this at night when the person may be sleeping, but does not matter as it cannot be stopped and GPS is automatically turned on, an phone location map accurate to 30++ meters sent to your gmail account within a min
Hi all, I just bought the G4 from T-Mobile yesterday. (It was discounted to $350, which put me over the edge.) My Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G (SGH-T699) is 3+ years old, so was time to replace it. It was getting really sluggish, apps were crashing I think due to running out of memory, it would often thermal shutdown (and always when using maps to navigate while driving), etc.
I had been looking at the Blu Pure XL for a few months, but was waiting on the development community to put a 3rd-party ROM on it. Well if you look in the Pure XL forums, you'll see how well (or not!) that has gone.
So now I have the G4, and would like to restore app data, messaging and call history, etc. from my SGH-T699. My Galaxy is rooted with Cyanogenmod 11 and Titanium Backup Pro. The LG G4 is NOT rooted, and I would prefer to wait to do that until the warranty expires.
How would I restore those things with something like adb backup and restore, or with Helium? (I know Titanium doesn't work on a non-rooted device.) Or is there a better/easier/safer way to do it?
Btw, last time I tried setting up Helium with my Relay 4G several months ago, my computer (Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, i7-4790K, ASRock Z97 Extreme6, 32GB G.Skill DDR3-1600 RAM, 12+ TB HDD space (4x HGST 7200rpm NAS), etc) unable to connect with it that way. I was able to use ADB backup/restore to do a nandroid backup on that phone, and also Titanium (once it was rooted) has helped me keep apps backed up.
I'm guessing that doing a full adb backup from the Relay 4G and adb restore that backup to the G4 wouldn't work, right?
I did do the OTA update to Marshmallow on the G4. (Only mentioning that cause of the other posts that mention hard-bricking when downgrading, but I don't know if that applies to me at this time since I'm not putting a custom ROM on it yet.)
Again, I do NOT want to root the G4 before the warranty is expired, UNLESS it won't void the warranty. (Same goes for installing a custom ROM, or anything that would void the warranty.) I have enabled developer options in the G4 (tapping build number 7 times), but I haven't used the unlock app provided by T-Mo (which I think is a SIM or carrier unlock, not bootloader unlock anyway) yet. (Edit: I did do the carrier unlock, but made the mistake of making it a temporary and not permanent unlock. Do I need to wait the 30 days or can I perm-unlock immediately? Edit 2: turns out it gave me the option, but said it's ineligible. I did pay for the device in full, but I guess I still have to wait a month?)
I don't know how, but I do have a quick question! What are the first three digits of your serial #? Because I also just bought the G4 from T-Mobile, it's arriving in a couple days, but 505-509 serial numbers are seemingly affected by the dreaded bootloop issues. Do you which batch T-Mobile has in their stock right now? If it's 512/601/602 it should be fine.
(this post is assuming you bought the phone online, but even if you bought it in-store I would still like to know. )

I bought my phone in store, specifically Parkway Plaza in El Cajon, CA. Upon inspection, it does look like I have the dreaded 509(KP...) number. I just bought it yesterday so maybe I should take it back and see if I can get it exchanged for one with a different serial? (Maybe at a different T-Mobile location?)
Well $*!*!! I was typing a reply, and my internet connection went down when I went to submit it!
Anyway, the T-Mo store told me to basically keep my G4 until / unless it exhibits the problem. Also, is there a way to find out if my phone would exhibit that issue? Mine's serial starts with 509KPZK... Is there a way I can test for the issue myself before I do anything more with the phone?
I can't get adb *or* Helium working - my computer can't see my phone, other than opening it in the file explorer. In Linux, the adb shell script won't run cause it says the adb file (which is right in that folder!) doesn't exist. In Windows, "adb devices" comes up empty, and Helium can't see the phone no matter what mode or USB port I try, and yes, USB debugging is enabled.
I really need to do a full backup of the current phone, then restore my app *data*, SMS, call history, saved games, etc. from my Samsung Galaxy S Relay 4G SGH-T699 to my LG G4 H811.
Since I can't get any of the above things to work, what else can I do, *WITHOUT* rooting the G4?? I am *NOT* going to root it before the warranty (I think 1 year) expires, *UNLESS* I can do a FULL backup, then restore that full backup and turn off root access to be able to return the phone for warranty service if I get that issue.
Also the T699 is frequently stopping recognizing my SD card. That issue started happening right after I changed my service over to the G4's sim (which is a different size sim so I don't think I can just pull it out of one phone and put it in the other.)
As for the G4, did I get the wrong phone? (warranty void if rooted, can't connect to PC, etc.) I'm still within the 14-day window. If so, what other phone has the same or better features (1440p screen, 3GB RAM, Snapdragon 808 or better CPU, removable battery+SD, etc) for the same price ($350) without buying a used one on ebay or buying on Amazon from a 3rd-party seller (unless it's a known established retailer), that is more dev friendly? (The Blu Pure XL which I had considered seems to be quite dev UNfriendly, the Moto X Pure and Nexus devices either lack removable batteries or SD cards and are too expensive, the Note 4 hasn't been dropped in price like the G4 has, etc.)
How are you guys restoring your stuff from your old to new note when you swap it?
Looking for something that backs up app data. Setting up Samsung Pay with 4 credit/debit cards isn't fun. Smartswitch didn't back up app data but I heard Samsung Cloud might.
Also the whole logistics of this situation is ridiculous. Are we supposed to sit in the store for a half hour waiting for everything to transfer?
I opted for the loaner S7edge and was told that after I swap my Note7 flammable edition for a new and hopefully non-flammable model, I would be responsible for sending back the loaner phone. All this setting and resetting is upsetting to say the least!

Well i call my tmobile and they said on the 21st they will have them.
So im going to backup using the smartswitch app on my pc.
Then use the samsung cloud sync and move everything else to sd card (most is already there).
Do all this right before i go to the store and i shouldnt lose to much stuff.
When i went from edge 7 to note 7. I lost spay data (good thing tho), most app data was online already. (Auto or manual sync and online games)
So really only had to log into my accounts.
Which isnt a bad thing. Stops other peolme from getting your info if they somehow got your backups.
But yes it does suck switching phones.

I'm very happy to see that Samsung pay will now support cloud sync. I lost the Samsung rewards card when I factory reset my note, and had to call to have it added. It still isn't there and I'll try again to get this resolved once I have the new device. I plan on using Samsung cloud for restoring my Note 7. I already had to set everything up when I got the S7 edge to replace my note 5(two weeks before release), then when I first got the Note 7 and then again when the phone was buggy and needed a factory reset. Too much, and I can't wait to do this on my new phone to be done with it for a while.

So Samsung Cloud definitely does work?
I did a factory reset on my Note 7 after setting up the cloud and had no issues. Before it was called "samsung cloud' I had backed up what I could from my Note 5. Most important was call log and text messages, and they all moved from device to device with no issue.
hi guys, so i flashed N950U1 (XAA) on a N950U (TMB) few weeks back. now i need to unlock the device.
when i put an at&t sim card in, the phone asks for a "Network Unlock code".
i contacted t-mobile and they said the only way to unlock the device is through their onboard app.
N950U1 doesn't have the "Device Unlock" app and it's not available in Play Store either.
I happen to have another Note8 with N950U, so I did a backup of Device Unlock apk with ESFileExplorer and sent it to the phone, but it errors out. i uploaded an image of that.
it will take up more than half the day to download and flash N950U firmware from sammobile/updato, and then revert back to N950U1 plus doing all the backup/restore. all this just to get the t-mobile unlock app.
do you guys have any ideas for a workaround to this tedious and unnecessarily cumbersome unlock process? is there another 'proper' way to get the apk that will not give me the error? lastly, what's the best way to backup absolutely everything (including settings) to restore it back to N950U1?
thanks for the help!

Nope. No workarounds available. You will have to reflash N950U firmware, use the unlock app, then flash back to N950U1.
It really shouldn't take half a day. Back up to Samsung Cloud and Smart Switch backup to your SD card. You'd be amazed how much it restores. I snapped be up and running again in an hour or less.

thanks. longest part was downloading N950U from sammobile, which took a few hours.
SmartSwitch was awful (compared to how much iTunes restores). it did not retain any app data or settings, besides basic text and call. it couldn't even restore the wallpaper!
i'll have to set everything up all over again. very disappointed, but about what i expected from Samsung software if i'm being honest

Yeah, never use Sammobile. It's way too slow. Always use the SamFirm tool.
Odd it restored so little. Last time I did a back up and restore, it restored my wallpaper, home screen settings, my edge panel settings, everything. The only thing that wasn't restored was my app data, which includes my Samsung browser quick panel settings. Something must've gone wrong with your backup and/or restore.
But no, it's not on the level of iTunes or iCloud backup. My iPhone is my company phone, so our Network whatever handles the backup and restore and it's basically a copy of the whole phone system so everything gets restored.
But Samsung Cloud and Smart Switch ate getting much closer to that. Yours did NOT restore everything it's supposed to. Seriously all I usually have to do is sign back into my apps, and with Samsung Pass that's just a matter of staring at the retina scanner, LOL

yeah, i was hoping (wishing, rather) it'd be a nandroid level of backup/restore, but it couldn't even retain a simple wallpaper, lmao.
i used Smart Switch on a Mac to do the backup/restore, granting all the permissions it asked me, and the app showed everything was successful during both backup and restore. by the time i saw your post suggesting sd card backup i had already started the flash. maybe restoring from sd card would've retained more info. but either way samsung should've set some expectations on what would/wouldn't be restored through each method.
hope it gets better in the near future. cheers!

The reason why it doesn't work is because it either needs to be in the /system folder or you need to set the correct permissions but you can't do that without root so the only way possible is with what @Mr. Orange 645 said.
