Can i use Whatsapp on P7300 with sim card?
Let me answer my own question. I just installed it, and it works like a charm.
And a few updates later, WhatsApp seems to be deliberately coded so it doesn't work on tablets. Don't ask me why, because I think it is just very stupid and don't understand why they do this. The developer also replies without apparently reading any questions asked. (I asked why the android version doesn't offer the ability to just fill in the number from the SMS like the WP/iOS versions used to do, got reply "What is your iOS version?".. yeah, right.)
Aaanyway. As you all know, the Tab 8.9 (3G) is perfectly capable of sending/receiving SMS and also capable of 3G/WiFi data. So it fulfills any and all requirements WhatsApp should have. But somehow it doesn't work. I have everything else working on my Tab 8.9 (yes, I can send/receive SMS) but WhatsApp "identification" fails 100% of the time.
Is there currently a way to have WhatsApp working on this device?

So the actual number doesn't have to be the same? Because the Tab has a different number from the cell phone. I need to try that.

I run what's app on my 7310 Wi-Fi only tab. I installed it on my phone, set it up, then made a backup through titanium. Then installed the apk on my tab, then copied the backup across from my phone. Works great and has been for a long time. The only problem you'll get is if you try and use what's app on your phone with the same phone number as the tab as it stops it from working on the tab.

I got myself a pay as you go SIM card. Put that in my phone and installed what's app registering it with the pay as you go number. Then made a back up through titanium. I then downloaded the apk for what's app and installed manually on my tab, then copied across the what's app files from titanium back up from my phone into the tab. All works perfectly. It updates as it should etc. The only time it stopped working was when I put the pay as you go SIM back in my phone. If you don't try and use the SIM you used to set it up its fine.
I have downloaded Whatsapp yesterday from their website. Filled in my phone number (the number of the SIM in my Tab) and it automatically activated whatsapp after approximately 10 minutes. Did you try deleting all the data of your previous installation and installing a new version from their website? Seems weird that for some people this does work and for other people it doesn't.

That's true. But maybe, just MAYBE it has something to do with WhatsApp's servers or something. That, some mystical entity is playing with us. I say that because I got it working on my Tab just fine... after about 20 tries. I had to disable WiFi altogether and then try multiple times. Then suddenly it worked. Just the Tab, no external SIM cards of phones were used. Just a simple working SIM card in the Tab was all. The exact same setup I tried many, many times in the past.
I have absolutely NO clue why it worked this time (other than that it has something to do with internet connectivity on their end).

Hi
Got a little problem for a while now the first way i helped my way worket but not long so mey be one of u know how it work better.
From time to time my tab just says sim is not put in bit if i remove it it reboots cus i "removed sim" so the is be notivied. First i found out that it could be my sim cus i used in my old phone and it was hot a bit from the connectors in it and i should use a strip of "tesa" on the back so that it is better connectet. It worked for a while now the problem came back again when i driving car an its on the samsung-cardock it is sometimes gone or better the sim.
Do i have to reorder a new one or is it a prob of my tab? When it is the tab i`ll have a prob cus its rooted so no garanie
Oh and sorry for my english its not my mother language

you can just try to flash another modem if that didn't fix it , i think its problem with your tab or the simcard , did you try another simcard to check whether the problem with it or with the tab ?

no sim card or does´nt read sim card
should anyone find that they have a problem with sim card (not reading) i would strongly advise that you seriously consider that it may well be the conexion in the tab.
it was driving me crazy, but i was determined, and eventually chose to desmantel the device. where i was able to see the false conexion in the sim card holder. i tried to straighten it and it broke off, the next step would be to change the sim card hold which requires soldering (in a fairly delicate place) and i havent got a clue.at the moment i have put a bit of tin foil on the sim card (bridging) so that it connects and it is doing just fine. this post is especially for those who are certain that they have unlocked the carrier network so that they are able to rule out that cause. (sorry about the grammar).
The following post from another forum may be of interest to you in how to reinstall the call app you speak of. The poster is talking about loss of gmail application but it may apply to your situation:
Okay so after I posted this, I talked to one of my software developer friends who is also and Android freak. He told me that any application that linked to google is probably causing the problem. The only application that fit that description was Talk and talk Provider. I extracted the Talk and Talk Provider files from my .zip file, and put them in the "download" folder on the Vibrant's internal memory (NOT THE MICRO SD CARD!). Then I used the Vibrant to access this website: http://www.lysesoft.com/products/andexplorer/index.html and downloaded the "AndExplorer" file manager from the website, NOT the Android Market (remember, my android market was not working). I used AndExplorer File Manager to open and install Talk.apk and TalkProvider.apk. I also reinstalled Swype.apk. Rebooted the phone and VIOLA! Problem fixed.
Hello all.
First of all sorry for my English, I am French.
I am pleased to have a galaxy rating, some time ago I made the step to ICS. With different versions and problems.
Then a few days ago I tested the LRG and I had an issue with the SIM. I saw on some forum that there was a version LRK so I installed (properly back then WIPE GB flash and LRK).
Almost everything is OK, I'm lawful way the appearance of a "SIM card full delete items." I specified that it was the message I had with the LRG, I have nothing on the SIM card, no message, no contact, I contacted the service after selling my supplier and I have provided a new SIM. I was quiet about a night for about two or three days I have faith that this message back. Among the contributors of this forum are there any people that has happened (I'm SFR) and if so have you managed to solve this and if so how.
Is there a solution?
Thank you in advance to all those who try to find a solution to my problem.
Jaouen.
your messages you will have lost forever, as well as contacts etc if you didnt backup
if your internet/sms receiving sending is not working you need to check your apn settings, go to settings, mobile networks, accespoint names etc and check entered info. Check providers website if settings are correct
also check if emei is same as when device was delivered, dial *#06# that will show it. Is it same?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Thank you for these elements. For my backups no worries there (old user of galaxy S). For paramettres APN are the good I check. The IMEI is OK. At present I can send and receive messages (but the icon is not present, I would check when it is returned). Cordially.

thats good then your phone is operational. What is your issue then? I think I misunderstood?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
If I understand him correctly, I guess his issue was that when he flashed ROMs(from LRG to LRK), he often gets an annoying message of '"SIM card full delete items" through according to him, he doesn't have anything on his SIM at all. It prompts him to delete but I guess everytime he deletes it, it still pops up that message.
@OP
I guess you need to try to change simcards bud and see if that message comes up again. That's my logical way of trying to dissect which is the root cause of your issue.
Cheers!
yep I misunderstood,
ok a new sim should be empty, but people have reported that by putting sim in old phone and deleting the messages on old sim on old phone solved. You could try that. Sorry for the misunderstanding earlier.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2
Good evening, I went on vacation and I read your post that today. A new SIM did not resolve the concerns. Check for even after having my GalaxyS with what is empty. If you no longer have this message "SIM full" I disable push messages in paramettres. since all are well, and for three days I handed push messages and I have not had any message. My operator is "SFR" I think it came from home. For me and without knowing how it is resolved. Thank you to you for your help. Jaouen.

The problem also exists on 4.0.4 LRB.
This problem only appear when the incoming SMS is flagged to be stored directly into SIM card and not internal memory.
Such special flagged SMS are for example sent by the French mobile operator called "SFR" to inform customer about their phone plan usage.
regards.
me and my mother both use our tabs as phones. today, out of nowhere, without making any changes to the devices she and i can no longer make calls and our sims are just not being recognized. when i go into setting and open "network operators" and try to click on tmobile it says that my sim card does not allow a connection to this network. please help.
we have both been using kimick rom 1.6.0 with rotohammers modem switcher (gscript).
If it happens to both devices and both sims, the problem must be with the provider.

i believe the problem is that i have a bad imei number. i deleted my efs folder and now i cant get my imei back. t mobile blocks funny imei numbers... any leads on getting my imei back?
restock (flashing stock rom using Odin), and the IMEI should come back.
Recently I haven't been able to make calls, send texts or use 3G despite the fact I have full signal. I have tried both networks (WCDMA and GSM). When I first turn on the phone it says "not registered on network". As far as I'm concerned this started for no apparent reason. I'm on DMod V5 and I have been for the past few months and this started a few days ago. I haven't flashed anything strange or installed any dodgy third party apps so like I said earlier this is happening for no apparent reason. I've tried multiple things including things like reinstalling the ROM but still nothing. I'm using Vodafone UK on a GT-I8190N. Anyone else having the same problem?

Hello everyone,
I am somewhat new to android phones, as I just got an HTC One 3 months ago. I successfully rooted my phone and installed the Android revolution hd rom for Jelly bean 4.2. Recently whenever I try to use my data it doesn't work, even though I have a good amount of bars. Also I have not been able to receive mms messages and pictures, they just say "message not downloaded, generic network failure". Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,

Ok so I entered in all of the APN information, and saved it. Is there a step I missed because it unfortunately I still not working. I noticed that I had some other APNs in my list and I was able to select one of them to use. Should I be able to do the same with the one I just saved?

Try typing *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer, click "phone information", then go down and set preferred network type to "gsm/wcdma/lte auto" That's what worked for me.

I just tried the phone information, unfortunately no luck. Thanks though. When I rebooted my phone today there was a notification that popped up that said "sim card inserted, tap to complete setup". I tapped it and a list of my "providers" popped up but at&t wasn't on the list.Is this the source of the problem?
I'm not sure, I've never seen that. Have you tried taking your SIM card out and putting it back in?
You could always call att, ask to get transferred to tech support and have them enter the codes for you. Maybe they got messed up somehow? Idk...
