Call screening and Moto actions update - Motorola One Power Questions & Answers

In Moto blog Motorola has added that call screening option is coming to both g7 family and Motorola one family but what about Moto actions update as they mentioned that it is coming to Motorola g7 family and Motorola one(family not mentioned). So,we will get Moto actions update or not??
Do we expect any updates in Moto one power camera too or not??

Will Sprint version of Moto X include a Skip?

One of the things I like about the moto x is the skip... What I just read is that you only get the skip if you order through moto Maker is that true?
Link: http://feedly.com/k/157tHVZ
When I ordered yesterday I thought skip comes with every moto X...
Has anyone gotten the Sprint version yet and did it include skip?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
No Skip with the Verizon edition.
Only a limited number of Motomaker Moto Xs will come with the Motorola Skip paid for by Motorola.
That sucks, I think every Moto X or any Motorola device should be able to get skip. As long as you have NFC and the app all you need is the equipment right.?

For what it's worth, and YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY, I called Motorola this morning and they agreed to send me a Skip for free.
Here is what I said (and it's true by the way, wasn't waxing BS):
I was nice and polite
I explained that I hadn't owned a Motorola device in over 10 years
That I bought the Moto X largely because of Skip and now that I realized that I wasn't going to get one, that I was disappointed (my Moto X is being delivered tomorrow)
That I felt that I took a chance buying a first generation device
That I felt that I should have waited for Moto Maker on Sprint but decided to order now because of the Skip and other features even though I lost the option to customize my device
That I thought that the Skip came with it
and that the promotion of the Skip didn't really make clear that it was a Moto Maker exclusive
Again, YMMV... 800-734-5870

Sunrise app/apk on Moto X 2014?

Does it work?
Has anyone tried the Sunrise app (found @ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2792487) on their new Moto X 2014 (VZW or ATT) to attempt to unlock their bootloader?
Just curious, as your experience will influence my decision about which Moto X to buy for VZW network (i.e., Moto X VZW 2013, Moto X VZW 2013 Dev Edition, or Moto X VZW 2014).
Thanks in advance.
It won't work. I asked @jcase in that thread.
*Sunshine by the way.

will the gen 2 get 4g in the near future?

Hi,
I really like the reviews of the Moto g 2nd gen phone. The only downside is the lack of 4G. Do you think that a new version of the 5" 2nd gen phone will be released this side of Christmas with 4G added? You see if it might be then I will hold back and buy it when it comes out? If not I would probably buy the current phone limited to 3G or wait until after Christmas to see what new budget/mid range phones get released.
Thanks for your inputs and guidance.

Well Sir..I haven't seen any certainty in print..but I personally hope so..I have (2) XT1045's which is the Moto G 4G LTE (1st Gen.)..I also have the XT1064 Moto G (2nd Gen.) 3G which is comfortable with H+ service also..and I certainly hope Moto will release a 4G version for a few more dollars, as they did with the 2013 Moto G..I'm an exclusive Moto user since 1989 and I certainly hope and expect a 4G release..I'm holding out for the Moto G instead of a Moto X purchase..which I also have the 2013 XT1060 Moto X Dev Edition..

Moto maxx 5.1 update

Hi, does anyone knows if this phone is going to be updated to 5.1 or the update will be only for the droid turbo? Because I have seen the news and no one is mentioning this phone and I'm very worried, jeje thanks [emoji28]

You don't have to be worried about, Turbo and Maxx are the same phone with different software, so they should get the update mostly at the same time.
You have been hearing this it's because Turbo would get directly updated to 5.1, which it's a different story for the Maxx that already have Lollipop.

I wouldn't assume that. OEMs have a finite of updates they will push and unless they see a dire need to, may not push the Maxx to 5.1. It happens all the time. An OEM will move a device to the next OS version, and being that 5.1.1 is still Lollipop they may not consider it worth the resources to update to it, especially since (correct me if wrong) the international versions do not use VoLTE.
yes it will be updated to 5.1, but i think droid turbo will make it first, then us.
I am sure the Brazil version will get 5.1.x, not sure about the other builds/countries though.

Well, since India Turbo just launched, and Brazil is also very important to Motorola fairly sure they will continue to get updates. India launched with a version a hair behind Brazil and Mexico's Lollipop. They will both be equal at some point, with newer update.
If the Moto X and Moto G continue to get updates, so with the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo.
And last, we now will have CM 12.1 which is based on 5.1. So, we have 5.1. DONE. Don't need OEM, sir.

Then you can just flash Brazil's 5.1.x. I converted my Mexico and Puerto Rico Moto Maxx to India Moto Turbo. Just as easy to convert them to Brazil Moto Maxx.
That is, if you absolutely want just stock and not a custom ROM like CM 12.1, which is 5.1.
Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo XT1225 will have Lollipop 5.1 before Verizon gives it Droid Turbo -- courtesy CM 12.1 and @Skrilax_CZ.
If any Moto Maxx XT1250 users also want CM 12.1, just contact @Skrilax_CZ.

I assure you, you want (OEM) 5.1 if for no other reason than proper blobs. CM will never be able to provide those until Moto releases an update they can be pulled from.
It won't be much resources for them to upgrade from 5.0.x to 5.1.y - it costs resources if there were many underlying platform changes, which has not happened. So I'd simply say that next minor OTA for Maxx will be 5.1 based.

That depends on how well the Motorola components work with 5.1. If they do not, they must update them as well.

The problem with OS upgrading is mostly on plaftorm side. Qualcomm will upgrade their platform blobs / firmwares / sources, but Moto will need to reconfigure their setup (and there will be bugs etc.). That's where the problem usually lies and holds OTA updates (msm8960 phones to Kitkat from 4.1.2, now mam8960ab phones to LP etc.).
There is no virtual difference in the framework integration, since 5.1 is a bugfix release primarilly.

Motorola is already publicly committed to 5.1 for one Quark phone, the XT1254 Droid Turbo.
Just for support reasons alone, Motorola would want all the Quarks to have the same bug fixes. In support of that idea is Motorola themselves:
https://plus.google.com/+DavidSchuster/posts/cV4vDyyMmw2
David Schuster, a Senior Director of software management at Motorola:
There seems to be a number of negative comments about the decision that Motorola took to move to use Lollipop 5.1 rather than stay with the plan to deploy 5.0.2. We did NOT do this without weighing the various pros and cons but at the end of the day we felt it was the best path to ensure we deliver our consumers the best available solution.

Motorola has said 5.0.2 has problems. They say 5.1 is much better.
If the 2013 and 2014 Moto X and 2013 Moto G will get 5.1, then so will all the Quarks which are much more recent, much more premium phones.
It's silly to suggest otherwise.

Therefore, if Motorola is publicly committed to a 5.1 update for the Droid Turbo XT1254, then a 5.1 update for the XT1225 Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo is also basically done at that point.
It's just GSM/HSPA/LTE, not CDMA/HSPA/LTE. Same Snapdragon 805, same RAM, same camera, same display. They are ALL Quark phones.
Yeah, Verizon wants to make sure VoLTE works fine in 5.1, but that's not even going to be an issue with the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo XT1225.
It's like getting your Doctoral degree and someone asking if you have your Masters.
It's not even a CARRIER approved release, like with Verizon. Verizon causes problems.
"According to David Schuster, a Senior Director of software management at Motorola, all of the devices we just mentioned won’t see Android 5.0 Lollipop, and will instead be updated from Android 4.4 KitKat straight to Android 5.1 Lollipop":

Moto G (1st and 2nd Gen)

With respect the 2013 DROID Ultra family of devices... we are running into some "partner support" issues for the Lollipop upgrade. We are actively trying to work through these issue and I will update you guys as soon as I have more information. Sorry about not having clearer direction for you but my hands are a little tied at the moment until we work through the issue with our partner.

Well, if it's DROID, then the difficult "partner" is Verizon. Not an issue with the Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo.
While some of the Moto Maxx Quarks are sold by carriers, in Mexico and Brazil you can buy them straight from Motorola website. My Mexico Moto Maxx was bought straight from Motorola Mexico. In India, the just-launched XT1225 Moto Turbo is sold through an online retailer but is still a "factory" phone straight from Motorola (and sports the same FCC ID as all the other XT1225).
And thus receive updates straight from Motorola. My Mexico Moto Maxx when on 4.4.4 was only connected to wi-fi, did not have a sim card in it, but notified me of the 5.0.2 update. I declined and flashed it to India Turbo 5.0.2. manually.
Motorola has emphasized how important markets like India and Brazil are to their plans. They just convinced people in India to spend this amount of money on a phone (which launched with 5.0.2) and someone is implying it's not going to receive ANY future updates? :silly:
The only difference between any of the XT1225 is the carrier-sold models are sim locked, while the factory models are not. My Puerto Rico Moto Maxx was sim locked, but was unlocked before delivery, and both my Moto Maxx are flashed to India Moto Turbo Lollipop.
And once the XT1254 Droid Turbo 5.1 Lollipop update is ready, that means 5.1 for the U.S. Moto Maxx XT1250 is basically ready. Both have the same hardware, same CDMA/GSM/HSPA/LTE bands, same FCC ID.

That "difficult" partner is more likely whoever provides drivers for those non-ARM cores. This same issue affects the 2013 MotoX.
I'm glad you have faith in Motorola, but far too often I've seen OEMs walk away from their phones when it comes to updates.
You are right, 5.1 makes 5.0.x look like garbage. 5.1 makes my devices fly.
Well now that turbo has 5.1 will there be an update to our maxx purchased dirwctly from motorola?

I think they would push first the 2015 devices, and then start to be worried about the updates of older devices.
