Hello,
I have been digging through the forums and google trying to find a solid answer but getting a bit of misinformation so, I have a couple questions.
I would like to get the Note 9 but am very hesitant to go with a carrier or US version, given they are locked down. I have not owned a phone, since starting on android with the G2, that didn't have root and some sort of mod support.
With that said I am considering the n9600 for tmobile and hoping someone can confirm whether it has band 66 or not.
Also, I keep reading that aggregation is an issue, slowing lte speeds vs carrier specific phones. I have read a couple forums saying there is a possible solution but they seem to kind of dead end with many people saying they don't notice a difference.
And finally, for Tmobile, has anyone had better luck with the Exynos version vs the n9600 w/ snapdragon? Is there a difference as far as connectivity or the ability to force specific firmware/software?
Thanks.
You've answered your questions in your post. It will work but not everything and not all bands.
I'm currently looking into buying a mid-range device that runs or can be flashed to stock android as a backup. Since I have both Chines SIM and US SIM I'm trying to buy a device that can support the net works in both countries, specifically China-Telecom.
So my question is, do both A2 and 6X support China-telecom? And has anyone been able to unlock the LTE bands on the 6X for use in the US?
I noticed there are pixel experience roms for both devices and they are maintained by different people. Are there any major differences between the two roms?
I didn't do my homework good enough and found out the uncompatibility (can't use mobile data, only voice/text) after I got the phone. I think I will need to flush the phone with a different ROM.
Does anyone know which ROM I should use, so that the phone will end up working with T-Mobile data network?
Thanks.
David
Are you sure?
I don't have this phone but I've had this issue with Xiaomi phones in the past, it turned out to be the APN settings.
I think it wasn't able to get the APN settings from the network, I found something online about my provider and it gave me 3G after I put it in. Then I found another APN for my provider and I got LTE working too.
k20 pro doesnt have bands 2 and 4
the newly released mi 9t pro (which is same as k20 pro) has bands 2 and 4.
i am not sure if Xiaomi has locked the bands on k20 pro with software or it's a hardware thing. if you can , return the phone

T-Mobile tech person was trying to walk me through to set APN. That didn't help. Eventually he asked for IMEI number and checked compatibility, which came back as only compatible with 2G for phone calls and texts.
Any moment 9T Pro firmware will be released, because the phone was released today so just way for it i think.

I put a mi 9t pro ROM, MIUI Global 10.3.3.1 Stable 10.3.3.0 (PFKEUXM) on my K20 pro.
It boots up fine and runs fine, except, I can still not connect T-Mobile beyond 2G. When using a China Mobile SIM card (which connects to AT&T network), the status page shows HSPA,
So this seems to be a bad news, that bands 2 and 4, which are supported by Mi 9T Pro, seem to be hardware locked, that using a Mi 9t pro EU ROM does not unlock them.
Anyone has any other suggestions?
Thanks.
That is correct, hardware bands are locked into the chip and cannot be unlocked. Return the phone or sell it, if it really doesn't support the bands you require.
Btw. in which country are you? T-Mobile operates in many countries and with many different bands. Typically you should get 3G, unless you are in the US I think.
Yes, US. This phone supports Band 5 and I see Band 5 is on the T-Mobile support band list. But further check shows that T-Mobile uses band 5 for extremely limited use.
Oh well. Will look into selling it used.
Question 1. Is the bootloader unlockable on the UW version if purchased from google.com
Question 2. Will the 4a 5g (non UW version) still be fully supported on Verizon. **I don't care about 5g at this point in time
In other words... What I'm really trying to find out is if Verizon will "force" me into buying the UW version and refuse to activate the non UW version
Yes, Verizon's version will have the UW band and they will make you buy that one if you want that feature on it. No the bootloader is LOCKED.

My understanding though is that any unlocked pixel will work on Verizon but will not have the above-mentioned 5G UW support. Based on reading on previous devices like the One Plus 6 and higher you will have to take an extra step or 2 to get VZW to certify the device but it will work.
I have said goodbye to Verizon after 15+ years in October. I was convinced that they had the best coverage but I just couldn't continue to pay anymore. I should have switched years ago. I have Google Fi and have ZERO regrets. Not only do I have a bootloader unlocked device, if you act soon you can get the deals mentioned in the other parts of this forum if you want to switch.

I have the unlocked model working on Verizon. Nothing special needed. Just put in your sim and off you go. I didn’t order the Verizon version because I don’t need that extra 5g band at this point.
I just got Google Fi deal 4a 5g which doesn't have UW. eSIM for my personal Fi, physical for my work Verizon sim, dual standby works wonder. Don't care about 5G anyway.
I am considering this device, but I am new to Xiaomi devices, As I understand TMobile made mandatory Voice over LTE (VoLte).
Will this device be compatible? If yes does anyone have the instructions on how to activate the modem to work on that signal?
Yes it does support VoLTE, you can turn it on and off by settings. HD and even EVS(HD+) codecs but it lacks Band 66.
Hi, Thank you for replying to my inquiry. I wonder if anyone can share a video or screenshot of this on the Remi Note. I am trying to prove a point but unfortunately don't own any Xiaomi phones yet.
Once again Thank you
