Anyone else encountering issues with custom alarm sounds?
It's already been confirmed by app developers that most (all?) 3rd party alarm apps no longer work because of Marshmallow's doze deep sleep feature (more on that later). However, in moving my alarms over to the stock Marshmallow Clock app (which does work), I can't seem to bring any of my custom alarm sounds over. With previous OS versions, I just copied custom Alarm sounds to the appropriate folder in either internal or external storage (it used to be under \media\audio\) under Alarms, Ringtones, and Notifications folders. Although those folders are still present on the Nexus 6, and do work for 3rd party apps as well as stock apps like Messenger, Calendar, Phone ringtones, etc., they don't work for the stock Clock -- the only alarms that are available are the original stock ones.
So I tried to move my custom Alarm sounds to the system partition and encountered an out of space error, so I deleted some of the stock alarms and replaced them with my own. That works, but won't work for waking up to music because the music files are just too big to go on the system partition.
With regard to the 3rd party alarm clock apps no longer working, I figured out a work-around that seems to be successful so far. What happens is the alarm clock apps can't wake up the phone when Marshmallow is in doze mode (which usually happens overnight). I tried setting the app's notifications as a priority, and I also set the app to not be battery optimized, but it didn't work and the apps' developers have confirmed the same. Anyway, my work-around is to set an alarm in the stock Clock app to go off a minute before the 3rd-party app alarm does. The alarm in the stock Clock app can even be silent. What I'm guessing is happening is that the stock Clock app alarm brings the phone out of doze and it takes longer than a minute to go back into doze, so the 3rd-party alarm will sound.
Anyway, any suggestions for getting the custom alarm folders working again would be appreciated, but it sounds like it might be a genuine bug in the OS.
I have no issues with Alarm plus. It works without fail and doze doesnt effect it.
All the app developers need to do is follow the guide lines
Standard AlarmManager alarms (including setExact() and setWindow()) are deferred to the next maintenance window.
If you need to set alarms that fire while in Doze, use setAndAllowWhileIdle() or setExactAndAllowWhileIdle().
Alarms set with setAlarmClock() continue to fire normally — the system exits Doze shortly before those alarms fire.

Are you referring to Alarm Clock Plus? I can't find any app named Alarm Plus. Reviewers running Marshmallow are claiming that Alarm Clock Plus alarms are no longer working. I'm using Alarm Clock Xtreme, and the alarms are definitely not working unless I use my work-around.

No prob. I live on 3 hours of sleep a night so i need a reliable alarm clock. This one has never failed me.
Unfortunately it turns out that even Alarms Plus Millenium isn't currently working with Marshmallow. The developer replied to my email and said that he's working on an update but that until then you have to have the phone plugged in and charging for the alarms to sound. This is because Google said that the dose mode is not activated when the phone is plugged in or moving.
I still bought the app though and will be switching to using it because he's the first alarm clock developer who actually responded to me with at least some knowledge of how to fix his app to be compatible with Marshmallow. The rest of them all seemed to have no idea and no ETA on an update to fix their apps.

That would make since as I charge my device over night as I sleep. Never occurred to me that if I didn't charge it that way it wouldn't go off.

You're still better off with Alarm Plus Millennium over any of the other alarm clock apps, IMHO. I've contacted four or five of the most popular ones, and their respective devs have no idea how, when, or if they'll be able to fix their app. The Alarm Plus Millennium dev says he's about 3 days out from releasing a new version that will work. So, thanks again for recommending Alarm Plus Millennium. It didn't show up in any of my searches on the Play Store for alarm clock apps, so I would've never found it otherwise.

Yeah he is really good about that. I worked with him to kill a bug about 4 months ago. Was very responsive and willing to help. Glad you found an app that works for you.
FYI, Caynax Alarm Clock (free and pro versions) works in Marshmallow now.
hi brothers
i have a problem in alarm clock
some times the alarm don't ring only for 0.5 second
this problem not happened on marshmallow
i am in nougat
how to solve this?
thx
Is it the original alarm that comes with your phone or 3rd party alarm clock?
The only easy way I can think of (if you are using 3rd party alarm) is to find alternative alarm clocks to try. The other way is to go to "Settings > Battery > Close apps after screen lock" page and make sure your alarm app is not activated for auto-close.

i use the original alarm
in marshmallow work fine
after update to nougat happened this problem
you can try to install 3rd party alarm to see if the same thing happens. if the same thing does not happen with the 3rd party alarms, I would guess to use them. although this does not really solve your issue, at least it's a workaround.
maybe others have better suggestions. but i would think you might need to reset the phone (backup your data first) and then try it out.

A reset don't downgrade ROM. You still be on Nougat.
Does anyone know why my alarm widgets (ie. either Chronus or HD Widgets or Elixir) show up as 5 minutes delayed? The alarms work well and activate correctly, but they're shown 5 minutes delayed on the widgets (for ex. 12:00noon alarm shows on the widget as 11:55, or 6:00pm alarm shows as 5:55pm). Been since I upgraded to Pie.
I see the same happening on the pie beta 3 on my s8.
It happens using the weather timeline widget and the stock Samsung alarm.
However when I use a different alarm app such as sleep as Android it is displayed correctly.

Ditto... Same thing..
Whoa, thought it was only in mine, as I've searched google and here, and found no one report on it. Is this a Pie issue? Should be in the Samsung forums, if so.
The issue still persists in the official pie rollout on s8 unfortunately. I've no idea how to solve this
Someone post the solution
This is driving me crazy.
Any progress regarding this issue?

I had a similar issue where widgets, and other apps, were not updating or giving notifications correctly.
The problem was with app optimization- I had to un-optimize these apps in order for them to work properly.
Settings > apps > (three dots menu) special access > optimize battery usage
You can also search directly for 'Optimize battery usage'
The default display "Apps not optimized" only shows apps that have not been optimized. You will want to change this to "all apps". Then you will be able to de-optimize apps that you want instant notifications or updates from.
If the app you want to use needs data access as well in order to function (weather widgets) then you can go a step further and go to..
Settings > apps > *APP YOU WANT TO MODIFY* > mobile data
Then allow "allow background data usage" and "allow app while data saver is on". The former is more important, but the later insures the app will receive updates no matter what. Hope this helps.
That dosent fix the behavoir.

go to an alternate apk downloading site and get the previous version of the app. Seems to be a recurring issue across several phones when running the newest version of chronus on pie.
Sorry man but when did we start to talk about chronus? Don't know the App even don't have it installed.
Hey guys.
Sometimes I have a lil problem. My alarm clock isnt ringing. Doesn't matter if I change the settings. (Battery, Power management) It's not in optimization list.
BTW it also persists after switching to revolution OS. It's not often but it happens. I never had this on other phones.
Someone else with this problem?

It happened in my environment too.
I did the following to prevent it.
Turn on "Auto start" of clock app setting.
Set battery saver in clock app settings to "No restrictions".
Turn off Battery & performance "Use Adaptive Battery".
Battery & performance - Set Scene - "Sleep mode" off.
I use Google Clock. It seems to be improved.

In my case the alarm rings but the screen remains black. I have to unlock the phone, go to notification bar, click on the alarm and then turn it off. (I use mi clock)
I'm worried that I can't trust the alarm on my brand new phone.

That only happens to me if i put my phone into "Do Not Disturb" mode. If my phone is set to sound or even vibrate only, the screen turns on as soon as the alarm starts to ring.
Either way, my alarm clock always works (using mi clock too)
Never experienced it, use DND mode during sleep time, and my alarm never failed.

That's true. I just tried and if the phone is in "do not disturb" the screen remains switched off. This is a bit weird because (at least for me) the DND is mainly used during the night.

Are you using the Mi Clock or the google one?
With the Google Clock my screen comes on normally, but I was hoping to user the "stock" clock App. I specially like the option to delete the alarm after it rings (in the event of an one time alarm) and the option to cancel the alarm just for the next time (in the event of a week holiday).

Yeah dont make any sense, it should turn on the screen even in DND mode but its a minor thing at least.

Alarm Clock not working for 3 day. I tried to set Auto-start, then disable Battery Saver. restrictions for the App. I will tell you.
Hello,
Came from my previous post here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lineage/help/alarm-displayed-9-min-lockscreen-t4018779
On my lockscreen, I have always an alarm icon set to 9 minutes later (see screenshot in my previous post). For example, at 15h09, the alarm icon is 15h19 ; at 08h10, the alarm is 08h19. This bug appears only when Tasker is enabled. When I disabled TAsker, no more this strange alarm icon 9 min later on lockscreen. Please, how to keep Tasker enabled and avoid this alarm icon from it?

Yes, that's true. It's a trade off. You can try setting reliable alarm to when off.
The alarm is a mechanism to prevent android from killing tasker beyond just doze.
