I'm wondering if it's possible to actually merge the mi9 kernel source to upstream. It would require the individual drivers to be merged separately and to work even with mainline devices. However if it's possible it would mean we can use kernel-common guaranteeing the fastest kernel updates possible, and increasing the security thanks to kernel maintainers scrutiny of the source.

I'm afraid not there is too much out of tree code. Getting to this point took many many hours of pulling in commits, resolving conflicts, and chasing problems. Caf likes to keep things custom. I do expect that eventually when they release their 4.14.y code officially it will be a bit cleaner but you might as well work on porting 4.19.y because it's likely going to be the same amount of work

Ouch. Didn't realize mi9 uses CAF :/

Summary of what this does...
For those that haven't followed the Telegram group, this is my understanding of what this does for the non-developers out there.
If you flash this to your phone, you are setup to run all GSI ROM builds. That means GSI Lineage OS, or GSI Android Q or other. Summary: this is making your MIUI device behave like a normal Android device. Not like the Xiaomi hacked version of MIUI.
Kelsi correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

I think it is more a generic and upstream version of the kernel without Xiaomi proprietary blobs or custom build arguments.

Progress today on the kernel, it is now capable of compiling inline with lineageos and other pie based distributions.

Nice work @randomblame. Thanks for your hard work, it is greatly appreciated. If I knew more of setting things up like device trees would love to help, but am more of the os customization and building side. Look forward to building Bliss for this phone.

There is a USB bug I am trying to isolate from xiaomi kernel changes also trying to fix the hack job they did to pstore so I can get ramoops working for early debugging and tracking down init issues.
*New debugging feature enabled press both volume buttons and ai button and your device will soft reset to recovery.
*Updated to 4.14.115 now
*fixed ramoops yay

this is a work in progress. the point is it's a kernel that can be compiled inline with a rom and has the latest and greatest updates from mainline linux as well as fixes to xiaomi code. It is a base for development of proper roms and not really meant to augment stock roms. That said it's up to you to try and report back I'm too busy compiling and flashing changes to it to actually use my phone and test for stability at this point. This isn't about getting high antutu scores

I've ordered a mi 9 and it should arrive Saturday. I keep getting excited but then remember the 320 hour deal and sink again lol. Regardless, the work you are doing is appreciated and should make it much cleaner going forward. Thank you.

I fixed an issue where the kernel regularly failed to boot when not plugged into a computer. Took me a while to notice because I'm always plugged in lol.

I haven't tested with xiaomi.eu recently you can try it and if it doesn't work flash the stock one.

got 3x battery drain on GSI with @randomblame boot.img so i wanted to roll back to any other boot.img but couldn't boot with any TWRP or any sequence of global/eu flashing until i reflash this kernel.

I am not sure it is only me, flash this over Global Developer Rom, it boots but can't get camera to work. It says can't connect to Camera.
8/128 version an it comes with original Chinese MIUI. Tried RevOS which is based on Global Dev Rom same outcome.

Haha, you get a medal for trying though
I tested the rom for a little bit. No obvious major bugs, but since it is based on lineageos I assume it got the known lineageos bugs (which are not many though). Compared to lineageos this rom has of course more customization options (substratum and lots of settings) and a better browser (AdBlock :good: ). One little bug I found: Rebooting to recovery from power menu does not work.
Finally got the time to flash it, sound doesn't work as expected (I had some issues with that during compiling), I'll try a full recompile today and see if it fixes anything

Update:
- Camera app fixed p)
- Sim card is now detected, hurray!
I don't have the fastest uploading speed (I'm on vacation in Lebanon, speed is around 300kb/s) and I want to go through the ROM for a couple moar bugs and roaches (ie, I haven't tested the reboot to recovery etc) but once all that's complete, it should be good to go for a daily driver (I don't know if you should trust me, I used a beta version as a daily once haha).
That's the update so far

Sorry if I ask but I never flashed OOS before a custom ROM and always work, we just need only vendor from OOS or not?

Technically you only need vendor yes. Best practice would be to just flash full OOS image because that way you're updating other partitions too (like modem or the bootloader) which is why I recommended it. Also common practice on the Pixel devices, which is what I've been working on before moving to OnePlus, so it's still "into me"

Steps to always take.
1. Flash oos 9.0.11 (or whatever is current)
2. Flash twrp
3. Reboot recovery
4. Repeat 1-3
5. Flash ROM
6. Flash twrp
7. reboot recovery
8. Flash gapps and/or magisk
9. Reboot system.
10. Thank Dev.
*Optional* 11. Complain on things not working.
*Optional* 12. Goes back to oos

Sure you are right and is infallible method, I just only saying that I flashed all the custom ROM without flash before oxygen but simply making a factory reset, then wipe dalwik, system and data, then install ROM, TWRP, reboot in TWRP, install gapps, magisk, factory reset and all work perfectly.
I had oxygen ob3 previously installed and flashed 6 ROM in this way simply and fast.

About GrapheneOS :
GrapheneOS is an open source privacy and security focused mobile OS with Android app compatibility.
GrapheneOS is a privacy / security research and engineering project that has been under way for over 5 years. It recently became rebranded as GrapheneOS and is taking a different direction based on obtaining funding for the research and development work as a non-profit open source project rather than being a company. The reborn project is still in a very early stage and lots of the past work on privacy and security has not yet been restored for the new incarnation of the OS.
The grapheneos.org site is very new and is currently being put together. It will have lots of additional documentation and tutorials in the future along with coverage of various software, firmware and hardware privacy/security topics.
GrapheneOS is being supported with funding and developers from various companies and other organizations interested in contributing to this shared base for a feature rich private and secure mobile operating system able to run many existing applications. It will take more time to organize and deploy these resources in order for the project to have a strong development team with proper infrastructure behind it.
* ONE LAST REMINDER THIS GRAPHENEOS IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR DAILY USE, IF YOU WANT A AOSP ROM FOR DAILY USE WAIT FOR MY UNOFFICIAL AEX Q and Havoc Pie/Q ROMS CHEERS *
* Why Final Release : This would be A onetime release of this UNOFFICIAL ROM I'll be focusing more in AEX Pie/Q, Pixel Pie/Q and Havoc Pie/Q.*

I don't mean to make this a troubleshooting post, but I think you're talking about expressluke GSIs(or any Q GSI for that matter). If you are, you can try this patch to get it to boot. I do think some patching to fix LTE and some features that don't work would be great as well.

What my real plan is to make patch into the GSI Sources before Building it.. Those patches include voLTE fix and other features. Integrate APTX coming from Razer GSI system.img.. and many more..
Nice to see some things to look forward to. Hopefully soon we'll see a stock Q then others will take interest like this guy to come some roms specially geared for RP2.

I don't mean to be mean, but I feel like you should label them as patched GSIs then, as opposed to a dedicated ROM made specifically for the hardware of the Razer Phone 2. It's still awesome that you're working to make GSIs better for the Razer Phone 2; they're nearly daily driver material in my opinion.

Thank you for your work. Will you try to sort out why Verizon doesn't work on AOSP as well? It seems to have to signal problems on GSI.
hello, just tryin this rom and cannot get into google play to loggin just when google play moves to loggin screen its became a blackscreen :/
After Magisk-v20.3 has obtained the permission ROOT, it cannot be turned off after shutting down, staying on the first screen, and restarting cyclically. Restart the machine normally, and boot off. You need to flash in the boot again. You cannot use Magisk to obtain the permission ROOT. My phone is in F2FS format

There is also a small problem. There will be vase stripes in rec operation, which may be a problem with my machine. Thanks for your work, making Razer useful

We are very excited to announce the release of Paranoid Android Quartz, based on Android 10.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app, included in our builds.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.

Starting off 8pro rom development with some beta paranoid android builds. Me and @ZVNexus have been working hard to get stable builds up and running for the 8/8pro. These builds are unified so it will work on both 8/8pro but since ZVNexus is the op8 maintainer, i will leave it up to him to make a separate thread.
Everything works afaik, except for maybe fod on the 8pro, it's reported working fine on op8 though, could just be a messed up fod size for the 8pro, but it's being looked into. If fod works for you, please let me know. Alternatively these builds include ParanoidFaceSense (Face unlock) as well.

Kernel - Note: This is not an official PA kernel, just a modified stock kernel to get it working on PA, arter97 will be our kernel maintainer, when official releases rollout
Huge thanks to Oneplus for providing the PA team with a few dev units, this wouldn't be possible without you guys!
great! first AOSP based ROM
Could you add a list of things not working?
you say custom kernel not supported, do you mean it will work but you dont give help if someone running custom kernel?

The current kernels we have for the 8pro are made for stock rom, and will most likely not work, also we include custom things in our kernel for features etc. that most custom kernels do not provide. When there are custom kernels available for custom roms, you are free to use them but your results aren't guaranteed, therefore the team does not support them as far as offering solutions to any issues you may have
So fingerprint not working on 8 pro?

From my testing it works but it's super hard to enroll and after enrollment it just doesn't recognize your fingerprint, it's strange because it works fine on the regular op8, so it seems it might be the wrong fod sizes. Should be fixed in the next build
Going to try this tomorrow morning. Thanks!
Grateful to see PA on the 8 pro!! Thank you!!
@sirhc did you guys get the kernel to compile and boot with GCC?

Thank you. Indeed CAF changed something and I also can't get a kernel to boot when compiled with either GCC 9 or 10.
Apologies for the OT.
It's awesome to see you guys here so short after the device is released!

I'm assuming you need some commits from upstream, not sure I'm not kernel dev. Just a framework dev xD, but I think our kernel will be done for gcc soon
is the ROM suitable for DD? Thanks

Make sure you're following the instructions, reboot to fastboot (bootloade, you can use adb reboot bootloader), from there type fastboot reboot fastboot then once it boots into fastbootd, fastboot -w and flash the images

not to be rude but we have two fully working versions of TWRP. Why not build a normal ROM zip, as it's infinitely easier for people to actually flash it.

We had issues with update engine and dynamic partitions. Only solution we've found so far is to including a prebuilt stock vendor image so that vendor doesn't get "removed" when flashing zips. It's not fully tested and we are looking for other ways. Google has not added proper support for flashable zips for devices with dynamic partitions using prebuilt vendors yet, that's why devices like op7tpro have had their issues with twrp as well
not sure what i did wrong but im currently in a bootloop, I formatted the data and im running the latest oos update any idea boss?

After fastboot -w and flashing all the images, I usually reboot to stock recovery and wipe data and format again as a extra measure. When you say bootloops do you mean the bootanimation is looping?

Good to see Hasty here. Thanks for your hard work.
Interesting. Will run a couple of tests with this one right now.
Edit: nope, won't run. Just noticed OOS isn't supported lol.

Great kernel It's comparable if not better than neutrino kernel that comes with crdroid. I've also tried radioactive and blustar and Hasty is still the only custom kernel I feel Confident in daily driving
Great kernel it works amazing with crdroid and is the only custom kernel I'm confident in daily driving.
Thanks for your works. And is there any way to adjust the amplitude of vibration? It's still not comfortable like OSS. Or it just ROM feature specified?
i cant seem to get my bank app to work, if i just have magisk and magisk hide on the stock crdroid kernel it works but if i install your kernel it passes but the bank app doesnt work anymore if i uninstall your kenel it works again on my oneplus 8t any ideas?
