first i flash the latest firmware called N9500ZZH4DSD3 from https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/galaxy-note8/SM-N9500/.
I flash the rom and replace the CHC Bootloader, and then flash the TWRP.
However, it showed the error message: "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed(recovery)."

So the problem for me is that i cant flash the TWRP on this BootLoader.
My device is SM-N9500 CHC. with SNAPDRAGON 835.

The sm-n9500 does have an unlocked bootloader which can be rooted and have twrp installed. The only snapdragon that can be.
Only the north American models sm-n950U/U1/W have locked bootloader.

Flash the stock firmware again and wait for the status: prenormal to become normal.
See this thread for any info.

Has anybody else had problems upgrading to version 5.1.1? I'm using stock Australia Telstra 5.02. Yesterday I received OTA notice of the 5.1.1 upgrade and chose to install. The update failed and phone was stuck in flash mode with a notice saying update failed, connect to PC..
I tried restoring firmware via PC Companion, which failed as it couldn't download the firmware for some reason. Instead I flashed back the 5.02 firmware with Sony Flashtool, which worked ok.
I then tried to install the generic Australia 5.11 using Flashtool. This resulted in the same error as the OTA update, forcing me to once again revert back to flashing 5.02.
Hence, as 2 different 5.11 firmwares failed I wonder if there is something else going on than just a coincidental fail. Does anyone have any idea why this keeps happening or any way to troubleshoot?
I can't install either, stock T-mobile Z1

Have you tried downloading FTF through XperiFirm. Is your flashtool using latest version 0.9.19.8(or at least 0.9.18.6)? Cause i had issues with flashing ftf's through flashtool then just reinstalled updated version of flashtool and all my problems were gone.
Not 100% sure it this has something to do with the phone having root access. I, for one have experienced the same if I root my phone. But flashing a stock firmware and proceeding with the OTA it works fine. I experienced this when 4.4.4 was newly released. Same exact experience when 5.0.2 initial release, and and 5.0.2 pre-5.1.1 release came out.
No root for me. Stock standard, tried both the OTA and flash tool ftf versions, using latest flash tool version.
hey guys, i need some help here for my note 5.
I have a SM-N920I (note 5) which is an Australian Variant ( i assume, it was a replacement for my note 3).
I was on 5.1.1 (N920I) then when Android 6.0 first released, i have flashed my note 5 to 6.0.1 (N920G), and then have been using it for couple of months.
Recently, due to some reception problem, i need to flash it back to an Australian Variant rom, but i have forgot to take of the FRP lock. i used odin 3.12.3 to flash it to 6.0.1 (N920I), and half way through my phone turn off and restart. After that, i am not able to get into the system and show need to use emergency recovery.
I have tired flash both 920I and 920G stock roms, but all shows FRP lock, or some kind of error.
Also tried to use Smartswitch, but i cant find the S/N number anywhere in the box. so i used my friend's note 5 AU s/n, but still shows error.
do any one knows any other ways that i can try???? or is there anyone nice enough to let me try their I920G note 5 s/n to flash my note 5?

For those who have tried the ROMs from the article- does this seem to be pre-release from AT&T/Samsung or a polished custom ROM?
Does it trip KNOX?
Has the bootloader changed? Can you downgrade back to BRA1?
Big issues from using it as a daily driver?

Dose not trip KNOX, bootloader is 5th symbol from end on build , so no did not change and you can downgrade since bootloader did not change. There will be always some issues in pre-released builds.
seems i get an error when attempting to install

Your trying to use the U firmware you have the use the latest ATT firmware. Here the link thanks to @norbarb https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1L9QZvTvsUQIXGSgAHGDgsIxDTehtO15G&export=download
I have recently purchased my first Xiaomi device (Mi 8) and so far I am impressed. I currently have a locked bootloader but have only got 15 days or so left until it is unlocked. In the mean time I was interested in upgrading my current ROM (China Stable ver 10.0.9.0) to China Developer ROM (ver 8.11.15). From what i have read I was under the impression that changing between a stable and developer/beta rom of the same region (EU, Global or China) was allowed.
I have tried doing it by the local update method which didn't work and then via XiaoMiTool to which I got to the very end of the process and was left with the following screenshot (image below) which states that I need to unlock the bootloader in order to update to China Developer ROM, is this correct? Does anyone know of any way I can install the latest China Developer Rom via another method without unlocking bootloader? Could I sideload it using XiaomiADB?
Any help would be appreciated.

You can update from china stable to china dev. Just download the latest china dev and select it from the phone`s updater. You don`t need unlocked botloader for this. I did it on my mi5 and mi8, but this will format your phone.
Thanks for the reply. I found out that it had to be the latest China Dev Oreo rom which I need to flash via update. I was then able to update to latest Pie.

What firmware are you trying to downgrade from?
It would help if you could post more details to allow the community to figure out your problem and help you.
BTW, If your bootloader is higher than the firmware you're trying to downgrade to, then the process will fail. I'd start by double checking that.

First:
I flashed the latest Firmware available from SAMMOBILE.
this firmware
Now I want to downgrade to this firmware
Reason: some of my apps have incompatibility issues..
Thanks
What you are trying to do is not possible, as that would imply a downgrade of de bootloader.
Your firmware G998BXXU4BULF, cannot be replaced by G998BXXS3AUJ7.
Note the underlined/bold numbers above, which indicate bootloader version.
You cannot flash firmware with lower bootloader number, as already stated bij @enigmaamit.
Report your issues with apps to the app-makers, they should update their app to be compatible with Android 12.
