Help with rom for pogo - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. Have used XDA for years but never posted.
I am looking for a completely stock ROM with GPS joystick app pre installed as a system app for use with pokemon go.
Every ROM I've used even a stock ruu then rooting with magisk, using magisk hide etc fails on me giving me the os unsupported error.
Has anyone made a ROM for this or anyone got a working joystick with pokemon go that can make a twrp backup to upload

[Q] Installation of Youtube unsuccessful

Hello All,
I used to be on RoDrIgUeZsTyLe MUIU rom and bunch of other custom roms. Every rom has its ones pros and cons but were not very stable. So, I thought I will go back to stock. So, I flash stock rom and stock recovery and received OTA update and installed the updates. Now my phone is on the below version.
Android Version 2.2.1
Build Number - FRG83D
Market Version - 2.12
Baseband Version - 32.26.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7
I was able to successfully download and install many apps but whenever I try to download YouTube I always get "Installation of Youtube unsuccessfull" message. Also, I researched and saw that some people in Europe on Vodafone rom are having this issue. How do I know if my android version is totally stock?
Do you guys have any ideas on how I can successfully install this app without having to root my phone again? I would like to stay stock and unrooted if possible.
Thanks.
use titanium or manually uninstall the current youtube app, reboot then try to install again. Its because its a system app currently. youll probably have to do the same for car home, street view and a few others
I am un rooted, so I won't be able to use titanium. how do I uninstall manually though? I didn't have any issues installing other apps like street view etc.
Make sure the app is installed on your phone, and unmount the SD before updating...

I tried un mounting SD card and installing and still that didn't work. Thanks for trying to help though.
Try uninstalling the old version of YouTube first.

....if you do not have root access how were you flashing an miui rom?
I was getting the exact same thing as you were, all you need to do is remove the old youtube app
good luck
Thanks for the responses. Like I said in my post I was rooted before but un rooted and went to complete stock 2.2.1. I know uninstalling youtube would resolve this issue but I am trying to find a way to uninstall the app without being rooted.

[Q] Full settings apk

Hi!
Does anybody know if it would be possible to install the 'settings.apk' from any android ROM to the Gear using a stock ROM?
I've seen some custom ROMs have already included it (like Null ROM) but I don't really need a full custom ROM for the moment, just that little piece of software... So, would it be possible to take the deodexed apk file from one of those and install it directly to the Gear?
I tried this naive idea and extracted the .apk from the Null ROM, I tried to install it using ADB but unfortunately it didn't work (I would had been so lucky :silly: ). I got this message:
Code:
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_SHARED_USER_INCOMPATIBLE]
I hope there's some easy way to achieve this :fingers-crossed:
Thank you!
The stock gear rom is a stripped down version of the samsung TW 4.2.2 rom, which has a lot of the dependencies in the setting removed already. If you tried to install any settings.apk, it will not work as it cannot find the dependencies that is required to run.
If you want to get into a new stock rom without pairing first, there is a way to do that. You will need to install the mk7 stock rom (via odin), and then install twrp recovery (via odin), then go into twrp recovery, mount system folder, then delete the secsetupwizard.apk, reboot, then you are at the clock, and can go into settings.
So, mk7 stock ROM is the stripped down version TW 4.2.2 ROM used in our Galaxy Gear by default, right?
Following your instructions I would get the stock ROM, a custom recovery and I would skip the initial pairing with mobile configuration but I wouldn't get the full settings application.
From what I have understood, the only way to get full settings in our watch is by installing a full custom ROM, right?
Thanks for answering quickly
yup, thats my understanding.
Then I suppose I'll have to consider that
You won't regret it. I am running null_23 now. With everything installed, I am getting about 3-4 days battery life. Though I am just using it as a notification unit, no internet(I find it too slow on the watch), no phone calls, and maybe some spy pictures , but to me I think this little watch is perfect for my needs.
Good luck.
I'll give it a try.
Btw, are you using Gear Manager for the notifications? I've noticed some trouble having installed apps on stock ROM and using Gear Manager on its lastest version (apps kept disappearing from the launcher, although were still installed).
Right now I am using ATN manager for notifications. Yes The latest gear manager does sort of "uninstall" the 3rd party apps. I have read in one of the other threads here that earlier versions of GM does not do this. So you may want to download one of the earlier GM versions and give it a try.

Pokemon Go

Hi,
Does anyone know of a rom that'll play Pokemon Go? I was running a rooted rom but have read that PG blocks phones that are rooted & I can't get it logged in. I've tried MIUI today but no luck.
I know I could take it back to stock completely but just want to loan the phone to my daughter for a while to try PG, so I'd rather keep it simple for installing a different rom later.
Flash latest Lineage 14.1. The rom is not rooted by default. To root you'll need to flash superuser on lineage site.

Help with uninstalling xposed please

I have xposed installed without a custom recovery by using Flashfire but Flashfire doesn't seem to be working without the paid version and I can't pay for it now because the app closes down for non paid users and the only way to pay for it is through getting onto the app. Can anyone help me out with this predicament? Is there any way for me to flash xposed uninstaller without flashfire or is there a way I can get flashfire pro that you know of? I can't make a custom recovery.
But you managed to use Flashfire to install Xposed?
So what changed between installing Xposed and now trying to uninstall it? Any new apps installed that might interfere with Flashfire?

Sorry, I should have added more detail I wrote this late at night.
I have an S7 and I'm using stock Marshamallow. Basically, you can use flashfire to flash the xposed installer zip and install exposed and when you want to uninstall it you just have to flash the uninstall zip and so on. I usually repeat this about once every 3 months to log in / out of Snapchat. However, Flashfire no longer works for non paying customers and the only way to become a paying customer is to get onto the Flashfire app and pay for pro. But, as soon as you open up the Flashfire app it checks for pro and closes down when it detects you aren't a pro member. So I'm stuck at the minute and have no way of uninstalling it without wiping my phone which I can't do yet. I was wondering if anyone knew a work around for this problem.
That's right... The freeloader time bomb went off a couple of weeks ago.
I believe some users have had success with setting their device time back to the end of March and then purchasing Pro.
Free loader lol. I didn't know the app even had a pro version I have only ever used it for a few seconds to flash a zip. They could have sent out a warning and earned a few extra £ ?. Do you have a link or guide to something that shows me how to roll back date and get onto flash fire to buy pro? I'm very amateurish on this I have no idea how I haven't bricked my phone yet. I'll have to put a back up on my pc. If I brick my phone how would I fix that by the way? Just factory reset from pressing the pin in and then get the back up from pc?
Anyone?
You can usually change the time and date in the Android settings.
For help and info on how to keep your device up and running, it's usually best to look for info in your device's forum. There's usually a guide section with stickied collections of info to use.
Thanks, I've worked out how to use date, anyone have a link or something on how to find the correct flash fire apk I need? I can't find anything on Google
You know that XDA has a pretty nifty search function as well, right?

Root + Franco Kernel = Paytm Not Working

So My Problem is a little weird... First of all let me tell you , I will be mentioning here an app called Paytm ( Indian Version of PayPal)
What did I encounter?
Paytm used to work on any custom ROM (or I say rooted ROM) earlier. But now I see that it is not working with :-
1.Any Custom Rom (Rooted) (tried on havoc, lineage and skydragon)
2.Oxygen OS with Franco Kernel (Rooted)
Now Weird Observations
1. It somehow manages to work on every Custom Rom if it is not Rooted
2. It even Works on ROOTed Oxygen OS but only with stock kernel, the moment I change the kernel it crashes
PS - only tried with Franco Kernel
3. Also For Any custom Rooted ROM with any kernel, it magically starts working after 5-6 crashes (everytime the app is opened) that too very sluggish
My attempts :-
1. I tried to hide root from the app because originally it showed a message that root detected but now the message doesn't show up but it still doesn't work
2. Cleaning all cache and data
3. Clean flashing different roms for a number of times
Can someone please help me with the issue cause this app is my daily driver.
I read alot and surf on XDA , so in my head this issue resembles with I think something called safety net ( idk what i am saying just guessing)
Which root solution did you use, Magisk or SuperSU?
Magisk Hide works pretty well for a lot of apps. But of course, it depends on how the app is looking for root.
And obviously, if you used Magisk, and tried Magisk Hide, than this point is moot.

You can also hide Magisk Manager.
If you have selected your app in Magisk Hide and hidden the Manger, then wipe the storage of you app and reboot. That may fix the problem.
