Okay, something is keeping my phone awake a lot, how do I find out what it is ?
Sent from my Motorola Droid Turbo using Tapatalk 2
Yes the cache wipe does take a long time. Factory resetting should indeed help get better battery life. If the battery life is still plaguing you, try disabling all the bloatware and seeing if the situation improves. Also try putting the Location setting to battery saving.

It is better than it was earlier but , I did actually disable bloatware . I have turned off the location now, despite that there are wakelocks. Tried using kernel wakelock but it doesn't support LP. No idea what to do now.

I also disabled Command Center. What is your definition of bad battery life? Did you perform a full factory reset or just wipe the cache? What apps have you installed?

A full factory reset. I have Kik Facebook WhatsApp gmail on. Ummmm, fb messenger And a few more.
Sent from my Motorola Droid Turbo using Tapatalk 2
I have a long history of Facebook and Facebook Messenger absolutely demolishing my battery. Kik has also hurt battery life but not as bad as the other two. Usage patterns may be impacting your battery life, such as closing apps from RAM after exiting them. You can also try to disable syncing certain things on your Gmail accounts if you have multiple. I have an email for general use and one for professional things, so I have disabled a bunch of Google Play services for it because I only need to sync Gmail. You can edit syncing at Settings > Accounts > Google.
hi
i'm not sure but i think my note 5 is draining abnormally during standby, yesterday i slept at 12 am my battery was 95% then i woke up at 8 and my battery was 60%, is this normal for 8 hours standby?
i noticed that under "android os" stay awake was 5h 39m 32s, could this be the cause?
That is absolutely the cause. Something is holding your phone awake. I would reboot into recovery (turn off phone, hold vol up+home button+power button) and wipe cache and reboot. See if that helps it.
Sent from my SM-N920T using Tapatalk
I lose about 1% for every 2 hours overnight. Your usage is not normal at all.
i did it, but still the same issue

Then it must be one of your apps that you have installed holding phone awake. If you can't find out which app it is then i would do a factory reset. That is definitely not normal.

i have tried "wakelock detector" and i found that "google play services" is waking up the CPU a lot during standby and causing this issue, then i searched the issue on google and i found that it is a common issue on Lollipop but i couldn't get the proper fix for it

You could try searching for the latest Google play services apk and install it to see that helps. Also then off always allow scanning in WiFi settings and turn location reporting off.

Mine drains like 2% per hour in standby. And I dont know what the phone is doing.
I know this isn't a solution to your problem, just some extra advice. Make sure you turn VoLTE and Wifi Calling off. Cell Standby is my number one battery drain when screen is off.
I have the same problem with stock kernel. I tried to flash all stock firmware but nothing, same problem. Solve only with arter97 o nobel kernel.
Inviato dal mio SM-N920I utilizzando Tapatalk
Well even mine is on stock N920C firmware.
Draining alot overnight, I barely have any apps installed.
Android System is using battery not deep sleeping. I tried Package Disabler PRO still same thing.
Any solution?

Well actually i have the N920CD dual sim. The 920C works fine minus the drain.
Trying kernels makes me lose the dual sim option which sucks!
And loosing the warranty as well!!
i have done something yesterday night, i switched off WiFi and Mobile data and i slept with 72% battery, then i woke up 7 hours later and battery was 71%!!!, so only 1% consumed, so i think the issue should be something related to either WiFi or mobile data.
do you have xposed? if so download the module call mobilestandbyfix
My phone with stock rom does that too!
I've heard the update was full of bugs and drains battery a lot!
Whenever I try to look at the cause there was Android Os!
90% to 50% power left if unused.
I did a factory reset and got fix!
Try factory reset that does helps.
About google play services it never let my phone to run smooth just eats ram alot!
I always uninstalled when not in use

Im not rooted and i did once factory reset but it didnt help, maybe i will try it one more time
Why dont you root your device
Get greenify pro ,allow root permission ,hibernate the cause of cpu wakeups !
I did hibernated some system apps and trust me i've got amazing power backup!
Some system apps keep wakeup your cpu and screen in background result in battery drain.
Hope that helps

Already did factory reset not working.
I suggest you to show us also the apps consumption... But tell us more details... Are you using SD... As external or internal ...Try to format from phone as sometimes excessive consumption is due to old android files on SD ... Also try to locate which apps is draining more gsam battery monitor may help... And you can reflash from zero but this important you read carefully all threads to document yourself... Other cracks here will help you better than me I am quite new on Huawei...

Have you chosed apps to be closed when locking the phone? Only apps i have running when locking is Snapchat and Messenger.
Facebook is a battery killer, maybe you should try Friendly instead?
Also, have you turned off 4G for any apps? Its probably a good idea to disable 4G for the apps you dont use.
I lose about 10% every hour with medium to heavy use (surfing, instagram, friendly, Messenger and so on).

Disable Google backup and check on accounts is someone is getting sync errors...These are fist things to check or try to use the phone without those two/three apps to see if are not properly adapted to nougat for some reason... Or boot in safe mode to monitor how it goes

On B361 my P9 had a bigger battery drain than it had before on B182.
Now on N378 battery life is as good as it was on B182. I'm happy again.
So maybe it's an app that sucks your battery.
Thanks everyone problem seems to be solved now, i disabled or removed all huawei or google related apps now battery life is fine

Resetting your phone over and over does not solve anything.
If after 5 days you still have drain then it must be some app or config.
hi, my huawei p9 also have battery problem but its kinda different. today before i restart my phone, my battery was left at 42% but after the restart the battery was at 1% and the phone switched off. when i charge it, it starts charging from the previous 42% percent. the battery is also very unstable. sometimes it lasts for long and then suddenly drops very fast with the same usage. is it the battery problem or the hardware. should i change the battery?
Yes thats a known bug. Im waiting for a better nougat version to be honest.

Beter to have a Oreo one on P9, becuase I think that Huawei will not provide to us better version of nougat.
HI everyone.
I have exactly the same issue as here, "SystemAndroid" (with multiple applications) is taking much battery. Some time ago it was more than screen took, however I was able to identify couple of things which were charming battery:
1. SD card was used on Samsung phone and then swapped to P9, formatting it helped a bit.
2. I disabled "Ok google function" as it seems it was keeping microphone always on - few percentage less on SystemAndroid.
3. I have turned off history of location - it helped significantly, now SystemAndroid is on around 17-18% while screen is around 26%.
What also I did:
4. Scanning for BT and Wifi is off.
5. Network data always on is disabled.
6. Wifi is set to do not keep it in sleep.
7. Only 3 applications has unchecked cleaning while screen is locked.
8. Removing of messanger, whatsupp etc did not bring any results.
9. Removing SD card also didn't help.
10. Factory reset didn't help.
11. Clear partition cache also didn't help
But still.. most of people has SystemAndroid very low, around 6-9%. I have no idea what to do next to get rid of it. What is strange I set all settings 1:1 comparing with my second phone (P10 Lite) and on P10 lite there is no issue with this. Same apps, same setting, different usage for SystemAndroid. I had this with B397 and now with B398. Any ideas what could be the reason?
Hi, I have p30 pro for about 3 weeks now and the software is updated. However, I have noticed in the last few days that battery drain is happening a lot faster than it used to be. I did not install any new apps nor do I have a live theme or notification app... I think I can only get about 5 hours on screen time now, but earlier could do better.. How long does your battery holds and what is your average on-screen time? Also what is the unlocking frequency of yours in the past 7 days or so?

After update, you should clear cache via recovery so it can optimize apps back properly. For me easily 7hours sot with my Samsung gear connected 24/7 + GPS always on and that's with around 15-20% left. Also in App Launch, I don't set it to automatic. I manage them manually allowing those I want and disabling those that I don't need running in the background.

So now it's 2 am, I have charged the phone to 100% at 9:30pm, It has not be used much although it was on mobile data the whole time. This is the result now: 85% baterry, and it says "time awake" 1:06 mins. Does that mean that phone was unlocked and used for 1 hour and 6 mins after being fully charged? Since I don't think I have used it for so long, since I was in cinema for 3 hours, from 10pm until 1:30am, and only unlocked it for couple of times during the movie. Something strange is def going on. I don't have rogue apps, just normal ones and tbh just a few.
Can you please be so kind to type step by step tutorial where to find all that in settings and what to do, because I don't want to mess something up.. Thank you.

I'm expierencing same thing. Only about 4 or 5hrs sot. Something isn't right. Running 131 aoftware

Yes sure, shut down your phone. Then hold volume up and power key. Once you feel a vibration, then release the power button and keep holding the volume key. You should now be in recovery menu. Find Clear Cache. Then reboot when you're done. You wont lose any data. It will optimize all installed apps. The time awake you're referring to in the hardware section is the screen on time. You should also note that if your network coverage is bad, then consumption will be higher too. Try downloading this app to lock it in either 4g/lte or 3g only if coverage is bad in your area : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xsquarestudio.forcelte
Hope that helps. If you're still facing bad battery life, then i reckon you to do a factory reset as a last resort.

Okay thanks about the data info. But not sure whether it's fine because ppl have 7,8 on screen time and have 15-20% remaining.. I will test it today until the battery fully drains to see what screen on time will I get.. Also, one question considering the wipe cache, will it get downgraded to original emui version that was on the phone before the update or will the. 124 update still be present?

No it won't too. Firmware can't be downgraded.
just do factory reset and start over ...
Update. 16:50 now, 23% baterry, 6 hours on screen time, 19h34min since the last charge... So it was yesterday at 9pm fully charged, not a full day of without charging, not to mention two days that others are experiencing.. Tonight I will do the cache cleanup and measure the results in the next couple of days.. If no result achieved I will do a factory reset, hoping it would fix the issue..
I have done the cache clearance, but no difference at all considering the battery drain. Can you share what is the best way to save all data before doing the factory reset? Upload it on some cloud or some other way? Also, are you guys always in normal mode or do you enable power saving mode?

If you're still facing battery drain then i guess you may have restored your apps when you first setup your phone. For call logs, sms and contacts , you may use huawei's in built cloud back up and for photos , use google photos. Then factory reset and don't restore any apps from google. Start fresh.

Hi, How look situation with battery drain after update from 9.1.0.161 to 9.1.0.178?
I have no battery drain.
No issues here, actually seem to be getting better battery life in 178 than before.
No issues either, in fact I've noticed slightly improved battery life too - I also do a cache wipe every time there's an update.

Strange how it's only new members with a single post that are reporting issues...
I've noticed battery increase for sure.
178 was better battery-wise than 161, at least for me. I switched back just because I found the camera focus to be buggy in 178.
I did a clean install on both (i.e. backed-up everything and formatted the phone twice from recovery). I always do it this way, it saves time and possible bugs.
