I bought the S5e for my daughter, and she likes to watch a YouTube, but sometimes a volume is too low. How to increase it?
Well, if this was a Tab S, then I'd tell you to root and then edit a file called default_gain or something like that. But on S5e, I have no idea.

Since we have a Froyo kernel for the Captivate, anybody want to try to load a galaxy Tab ROM with our Captivate kernel? I would if I had a PC and ODIN wasn't a pain in the ass for me to use.
Thats not going to work, of the bat, most of the system is for a much high res, but anyone is welcome to try...
for some reason I thought the tab and our phones were the same resolution. thanks for the info.

They may be the same overall resolution, but trying using the tab email app and everything is very tiny. I would not want the entire device like that.
Tab is 1024x600. Even if the Tab rom booted, most of the apps wouldn't display right.
What about changing the pixel density?
From a phone on an app
I know i tried and im sure zilch did too. So far no go. Even with working on the res.
Hi all, this is the very first thread i start here in this forum, so go easy on me if i do something wrong.
Thing is, i hate zooming in and out in email/website, and since we have the luxury of high screen resolution in the galaxy note, i really want to make used of it. first of all is the email. the Gmail app is clearly not designed for such high resolution phone in the first place. but using this "phone" app on Galaxy Note, and still zooming in and out seems stupid to me. Is it possible for us to use the Gmail in Tablet in out Galaxy Note?
Thanks Guys
Yes it is possible. ..use cm9 mod change the dpi to say 200 and you ll get tablet gmail interface

is there any way to do it without root thanks.

Does it have to be a CM9 rom rooted G Note? Cause I have a CFroot G Note and I was wondering if I could do it?

Yes it needs to be some kind of ICS build (whether CM9 or otherwise). The reason being is that ICS includes aspects of the Honeycomb API which Gingerbread does not. These tablet elements are activated in ICS when the user sets the DPI below 200 (you need root to do this), and thus the phone behaves more like a tablet than a phone in its appearance.
This is how you will get the tablet style Gmail layout.
Dang, I wanna get the CM9. But, No camera is a deal breaker cause this is my point and shoot

Just Install
1. XposedInstaller_2.1.2 which is the framework
2. XposedAppSettings021_1361139539_2146 which will let you change the app specif dpi
3. Gmail 4.2.1 ( last version will become tablet mode with the following settings dpi :213 screen dpi: 600x1024 font scale :100 xLarge

Try changing DPI to 220/240. for that you need a custom ROM with DPI change functionality.
Hello, could anybody please confirm, if the S3 mini has a Wolfson DAC, just like the S3 and original Galaxy S? Of course I would like to continue using Voodoo Sound (and enjoy briliant sound), if I upgrade from my current Galaxy S
I think I googled quite a lot about it, but with no results
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi, this is a great question, I'm interested too.
I don't know everything about this stuff, someone may know more, but I don't think it uses the Wolfson DAC, here's why; it's running on ST-Ericsson's NovaThor chipset. If you can put proprietary audio on that, then it's news to me.
GSM Arena SGS3 Mini specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_i8190_galaxy_s_iii_mini-5033.php
AW: [Q] Audio chip
I second that. I'm very interested in getting sound as loud as on Galaxy S1.
Send with GT-I8190
soo, no one can confirm if it has a wolfson dac? its been a while now since the device is on this world, has anyone more expert check this out?
the net search doesnt give any conclusive results,so i highly doubt that is has Wolfson dac,but hopes die last

Maybe some will insert output from terminal of list of devices (I forgot exact command) from i8190 here?
can't believe this, hasn't still found out which audio DAC s3 mini uses???
it's likely STE made, as per http://www.stericsson.com/developers/CD00291561_UM1031_AB8500_user_manual-rev5_CTDS_public.pdf and the fact that /proc/asound/pcm contains the entries for ab8500 for playback and capture as well as a dummy device.

Yes, I'm fairly sure it won't be. However you can always use more advanced EQs like the one in PlayerPro or, for volume changes, any ALSA related app (YMMV).

any news on this?
Bumping this thread because interested too.
Anyone know how to replace it or remove it? I got my unit a bit ago and rooted it already but I can't remember how I killed it on my note 3.
Change ringtone in settings
Sent from my LG-D801 using XDA Free mobile app
If you mean during the bout sequence/splash screen then you just have to replace that file .gif.... I wouldn't be able to help you with how though as I don't have a clue where it's located on the note 4....
Most custom Roms replace this for you, I'm sure some developers will have some sweetness for you soon.
On my note 3, I put my phone on vibrate before rebooting.

Use a root explorer, navigate to root/system/media/audio/ui and find poweron.ogg
You can delete it or do like I do and just put an "x" after the ogg, that way if you want it back you can just delete the "x" and it functions as normal.
Hope it helps .

It was confusing people cause you assumed people would know it was the start up screen jingle instead of ringtone. More detail would eliminate this issue.

Funny thread
Oculus has disabled the Note 7 for use in the Gear VR. They said it for safety's sake. I understand that , but wow That really does hurt! I have had the Gear VR for 3 days and now because I have a Note 7 , it is rendered useless.

Just return the device already - you don't want a fire-hazard near your face. Seriously.
