So, Voice Match works fine on Oreo and works fine on Pie on the initial boot up, but then it turns off when phone is rebooted and cannot be turned back on by toggling.
However, it can be turned back on by disabling the Google app, force stopping, clearing cache, rebooting, re-enabling Google app, toggling on Access with Voice Match, and updating app.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Thanks for this, this solution worked for me as long as it was not done while in Safe mode; however it did not persist past the first reboot after working.
I can't update the Google app as it's already the most recent version.
This is being discussed by a lot of disgruntled G6 Pie users in the Lenovo forums in the 'Moto G6 / Moto G6 Plus / Moto G6 Play' forum, the thread is called "Voice Match has stopped working"
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G6-Moto-G6-Plus-Moto-G6/Voice-Match-has-stopped-working/td-p/4398987
It seems Lenovo is aware of the issue, but has no solution.

I am on the AT&T Variant of the Moto X and was wondering if anyone was having issue with Touchless Controls not working. It has been working fine since day one and I noticed today that it wouldn't work. I rooted using the Moto Root and then PwnMyMoto. When I boot, the option to use them is turned off and when I enable it I get no response from saying the keyword. If I try to retrain it, It will not respond to the "Okay Google Now" Attempts. I've verified that the mic is working fine and I've tried several different noise levels.
If anyone has a solution or suggestion, let me know to possible help people who have this issue

I have the same problem... I notice that this started since I installed Xposed, maybe is related somehow. Also if I force close Google Search the voice commands just turn off.
same here, lollipop stock with EU firmware, no root. Seems like this beahviour is following the latest and recent Moto app update.
Didn't enabled Ok Google Hotword anyway.
I have a Moto X 2014 XT1095 that is experiencing a strange issue, the Moto Voice Launch Phrase option keeps unchecking itself at random times of its own volition. Initially I thought it was one of the modifications I had made to the software of the phone, however this past weekend I returned my phone to full stock
System Version: 22.21.11.victara_tmp.tmp.en.US
Kernel Version: 3.4.42-gd7d30ea [email protected] #1
Build Number: LXE22.46-11
and am still experiencing the issue. I find that even if I reboot the phone, the option does not magically reenable itself and the result is that the phone is not listening for its "Ok Google now" hot phrase. Note that this is a full stock build and it has not been rooted, only the bootloader unlocked. I do have all of my normal programs installed that do not require root access, notably Trigger, but do not have any voice commands defined in that app, only location based triggers.
Additionally the "OK Google" detection is set to be hot from the app, but not from any screen and not as a "trusted voice" where it will unlock the device. There also is no voice model trained within google's application.
I cannot pinpoint any particular behavior that causes the launch phrase detection to disengage, however I usually don't notice it until the hot phrase doesn't work. I can upload a log if that would be helpful, but since I can't get the behavior to reproduce on command, I'm not sure how helpful this might be.

The exact same thing is happening with mine too.

Been having the same problem for the past month or two. Pure Edition on 4.4.4, bootloader unlocked, rooted. No other mods, no Xposed. My Ok Google settings mirror yours. When I notice the problem, I cannot recheck voice detection in the Moto app until I reboot first.

There have been some theories over on the Motorola forums. No fixes though.
me too, running 5.0 stock on XT1092 EU.
I thought it was the crap memory management which is killing random app to free memory, and in fact if I check on running apps i can't see the "Moto" app.
After a reboot everything is ok
A few times a week I have to restart my G6 because of Google services/OK Google are not working. Is anyone else having these issues and if so, were you able to fix it? Thanks
Dealt with this on my v20 as well. Its also an issue with other phones I believe it's an issue on Googles end with their servers. My G6 started doing it the second day I had it but nothing since then.
Try retraining The Voice. Maybe after a reboot. Essentially it's a bug where Google thinks the microphone is in use.
Greetings everyone,
I originally posted this on the Lenovo official forums but haven't receive any feedback. I was wondering if anyone else had encountered this issue. After a fresh (re)boot, my phone will work as expected using the standard speaker for calls in and out. However, after using Moto Voice once or twice to make calls out all incoming and outgoing calls start with speakerphone no matter what I do. I've confirmed this behavior in safe mode - it's only after using Moto Voice. Google Assistant can be used and not trigger the issue.
Has anyone else had this happen?
Maybe clear data and cache and see if that helps? I'm not really familiar with Moto Voice but have you considered Google Assistant? I just assumed Moto Voice(and similar apps like Samsung Bixby) are just OEM's trying to harvest the data for their own use rather than giving it to Google.

I did a clear cache and data on all Moto apps, still persisted. As mentioned, Google Assistant works fine without triggering the issue but I'd still like to confirm if this is a Moto bug or something else interfering.
