warning to people with a rebranded TMobile 6T - OnePlus 6T Guides, News, & Discussion

If you have SOS enabled it will call 112 or the European equivalent of 911. My phone screen wouldn't turn on and I just hit the power button a ton of times and it called it. Just thought I'd mention it in case anybody were to find themselves in a situation where you would need it and it dials 112 when you need 911.

I think all models will do that. You can check Settings - Security & Lock Screen - Emergency Rescue - Emergency Call Trigger.

I already turned it off. And I would think the TMobile version of oos would dial 911. But I'm on the international version of OOS while living in the states and it dialed 112 which is basically useless if I was in an emergency

Mine did that to me as well. This was fresh after I converted the phone. Weird right?

Not weird were going to the international version of OOS which is primarily used in the unlocked variant for European countries it would make sense for it to call the European equivalent of 911

Edit: I replied to the wrong person lol, that's weird that yours dialed 911

That happened to me and it called 112. It did go through to emergency services as if I did dial 911.

112 is still the 911. I learned this after I forgot my password to my s8 and had to use the dialer and talkbalk glitch to get in and my idiot self left my active sim card. Had the police on the line for like a minute.

I remember reading a thread on the community app about this starting that the emergency call will get though to your localized emergency services no matter which number you see there. You don't need to change anything as far as that is concerned.

[Q] VVM and Registry

Hello everybody,
I have a Lumia 820 dev and I want to activate Visual VoiceMail that is already activated by my operator (B&You - Bouygues Telecom) but the toggle switches is not present.
I don't want to flash my device that is developper unlocked.
I want to know if it is possible to enable this feature on my phone or if you know a way to edit the registry.
Thanks in advance,
Best regards
Believe me, we'd all love a way to edit the registry...
Odd that the switch wouldn't be present. Have you tried rebooting the phone? On mine, it showed up (and worked) as soon as I put the SIM in (which the phone was shut down during).

Did you make sure to dial into your voicemail after? It may be missing from some carriers' ROMs, but if it's there you usually need to dial into your voicemail after VVM is provisioned for the phone to try to set it up.

check if your IMEI is blacklisted. If yes then there is no solution.

Blacklisted? where? HTC? they said nothing about it When i called them.

The IMEI is a unique electronic identification number to track mobile phones. If your mobile phone has been reported lost or stolen or that the owner has unpaid bills, then the IMEI is probably blacklisted which mean the phone will not be able to connect to almost any carrier in the world (IMEI blacklist is international). Use the tool linked above to check if your IMEI is blacklisted or not. Hopefully it's not... If you bought the phone second hand then there is some chances your IMEI is blacklisted.
EDIT: NVM I tought you were not able to make call even under gsm. I have misread the first post sry. So its probably not blacklisted

Wifi calling problem

Both my dad and I picked up the Note 8 on launch day. I had zero issue enabling wifi calling out of the box, and in fact it seems to be working quite well for me. He's not had the same success. At first it said it would have to disable Google Voice. We uninstalled the app, and had Sprint de-integrate his number with Google Voice, so that the carrier stock voicemail could be configured. That didn't work initially either, and he spent some time at the store having their tech fix it. I wasn't there, so I'm not sure what they did, but eventually they got the voicemail working. So then he came around asking me to set up wifi calling. I attempted to, only this time the setup prompt insisted that it be allowed to disable Voicemail first. But since that's a system app, I'm not sure how that can be done. And given his problems with voicemail to date, I'm reticent to let it try and disable his voicemail again.
Anybody else run into this problem? Is there some sort of fix that doesn't involve another visit to Sprint?

If you are having issues with things not working on Sprint, I first had to factory reset...all was well afterwards...make sure you have a brand new SIM for the Note 8...is it a Sprint or Unlocked device (SM-N950U or SM-950U1)

Same here. I bought mine directly from Samsung and just found out that the option to select WiFi calling is missing! I rely on this at home because we live in a valley with poor cell phone reception (I have to step to a front window to make/receive calls without WiFi calling).

Thanks. I tried searching the threads but didn't find much. Maybe I need to change how I'm searching. If I do need to "flash the Verizon firmware," where can I find instructions and will it add bloat or reduce the functionality in any way (I wanted non-Verizon because of the way Verizon changed features on my Note 5)? Will flashing the firmware interfere with the Samsung support?

I called Samsung tech support and they confirmed that this feature is not in the based version of Android but the ones distributed by the carriers. The tech suggested calling Verizon and asking them to install the firmware. Anyone know if (assuming they agree) this will be the full package, including all the bloatware, and if this will remove any features from the phone? Would the "upgrade" wipe out the phone so that I have to set everything up again?
When I bought my Note 5 from Verizon two years ago I was upset to find that they had removed the PDF signing capability that was a big feature of the Note 5. I'd really hate to lose any features on my new Note 8, after all that's why I bought directly from Samsung.

In order for you to remain on unlocked firmware to avoid bloat and keep Samsung goodies you must call Verizon to have the imei # to their whitelist and reprovisioned...I did this for Sprint to enable VoLTE when available...others with Verizon have done the same...call Verizon cs and tell them you bought from Samsung and need to have your imei # whitelisted and reprovisioned to improve network connection...if one rep will not do it, call another...do not mention that it is unlocked version...just state that you got from Samsung on a Note 7 deal...afterwards, all Verizon features will work on unlocked except vvm...Google voice is better anyways

If I get them to add my imei to the whitelist and "reprovision" the phone, when they do that the option for WiFi calling will appear?
I'm slightly puzzled by your vvm comment: will all Verizon voicemail be non-functional or only Visual Voicemail? I have Google Voice set up to provide a second number on my phone. How do I use it to set up voice mail on my phone with my Verizon number?

VVM is only on carrier Firmware...it is baked in...some have gotten it to work on unlocked but I do not know how...regular voicemail works fine...especially with Google voice...to set it up you forward to Google voice...for Sprint it is dialing *73mygooglevoicenumber...I do not know the forward shortcut for verizon but it used to be *71yourgooglevoicenumber...
Your Google voice number is shown in the settings of Google voice.
Yes WiFi calling and VoLTE will work once imei is added...look for WiFi calling in the phone settings...

First, I found the Google Voice shortcut for Verizon is what you thought: *71yourgooglevoicenumber
Now for my bad news. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with Verizon tech support. After being bounced around a little, I spoke with a woman who kept contacting their "Network Team" for more details, and who tried to be very helpful, but in the end I am no further ahead. In the end, they said that adding my phone to the Whitelist was "Out of Scope" because the phone was already unlocked and functioning on Verizon. She said that all she could suggest was to contact Samsung, and that Verizon tech support would be happy to have a three-way conference call with Samsung tech support (they would call) to see what could be done, and that she'd put a note in my account about this issue.
Now, if I call back and try to speak to anyone else they will see this note that that will be it. So, I'm back to not being able to make phone calls at home.

For now, I have a partial solution for the poor phone connection at home: years ago, after we had complained a lot about a poor signal at home, Verizon gave us a free "Network extender," which acts as a mini tower in our house (connected through the house Internet). It is only 3G, so I disconnected it when we had WiFi calling on our phones. Now, I'll reconnect it. The only problem is that is won't connect to a phone with VoLTE calling enabled, so I have to remember to turn off VoLTE calling when I get home, and turn it back on when I leave so that I can keep my Internet access on a phone call.

What items don't work on the unlocked Note 8 on Sprint?

So just got the Unlocked Note 8. Had a little trouble activating it online but calling Sprint they were able to do it.
Now I know it doesn't have any of the pre-loaded Sprintware stuff on it. I don't really care about any of that. only one I ever used might have been SprintZone.
I don't need VM cause I used GoogleVoice. Though oddly enough to activate call forwarding on this phone I had to use the old *28 command. the new *73 command didn't work.
Anything else I'm missing I may or may not care about?

wifi-calling, sprint voicemail, sprint zone
Sprint Zone (My Sprint) works but you need to manually download it from the PlayStore.
Wifi calling also seems to work but extra steps to get to it. Open the Dialer, hit the 3 button in the top right. select settings, scroll to the bottom and turn on Wifi.
Sprint VM I think is definitely a no go since there is no App to download.

Phone restarting...

I had this happen in 3 different instances:
1) Come back to the phone, which was lying on the table, to find that it was restarted. Happened 3 times in 5 minutes.
2) Another time, the phone restarted for no reason - I came back and it was asking for pattern instead of fingerprint because it restarted.
3) In a 20 minute drive, the phone restarted twice, which was announced by the Bluetooth car unit. I stopped each time and verified that the phone actually restarted.
At first, I thought it was me holding the power button wrong and it getting stuck.
But I have tried my best to not push the power button in any weird way, and then it still happened.
Moreover, here's an interesting exchange between, apparently, ZTE and users. Credit to oberio28:
5, sometimes the phone will automatically restart, how is this going?

Do you know anything about this problem?
"I use ATT as as carrier, and I tried several of their sim cards. As soon as I install the card, that Sim slot (1 or 2) truncates its IMEI from 15 to 14 digits, so it thinks that's it's a CDMA sim card. I think this is the reason why I cannot access GSM calling settings such as Call Forwarding. It says "Network or Sim card error."

I use ATT prepaid mine does the same but the last digit is a check, meaning once sim is activated it helps hide your full IMEI. I get 4g LTE and no Voice HD calling, hence it always reverts to 4g/3g in calls. Got to love US carriers.

Thanks. It was explained to me at an ATT store that Voice over LTE was not available for a prepaid plan.
However, can you change Call Forwarding settings (I cannot, and I am not sure what the problem is):

?
Mine gives me reply "Call settings error , Network or SIM card error."

Thanks. Here's more info that may be relevant.
1) Oneplus 6, global version, doesn't have this problem, that is not being able to set up call forwarding from the phone.
2) Whenever AT&T sim card is inserted into a slot (1 or 2), that slot truncates its IMEI from 15 to 14 digits by removing the last digit.
So, if without the sim card IMEI 1 is XXX...XXX5, it becomes XXX...XXX when the sim card is inserted into slot 1. Same happens to IMEI 2 if the card is inserted into slot 2.

Thanks for the info.
