Don't use facial unlock!! I've found lockscreen bypass bug. - OnePlus 7 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

XXXI found if you use facial unlock and activate the camera and drop the phone, auto retract kicks in and bypasses the lock screen. Can anyone reproduce this issue? I've included a video.

Update
This issue has been resolved. It turns out I had on-body detection on. Thanks @y24k.

Wow! I was able to reproduce the same bug.
I'm disabling face unlock as soon as I get done typing this.

What version are you guys using. Mine is the unlocked US model and it didn't unlock the phone. Instead it said "Face unlock failed, try other ways to unlock."

Check if "on body detection" is selected in settings

Thanks y24k. That solved my problem. I didn't even turn it on. I guess it's on my default.

Do you mean that once you unlock your device using the fingerprint, and then lock your device, it doesn't ask for the fingerprint again? If so, that's because you need to change the "secured lock time". It's under Settings > Lock screen > Secured Lock Time. Set the timer lower or have it instantly lock whenever the display turns off.

This is what I had to do. It is unfortunate the fingerprint reader only lets you register 3 fingers.

Thanks that fixed it. Didn't see that option
It's been my experience so far that the default setting out of the box allows you to unlock the phone for a few minutes without requiring a fingerprint just in case you locked your phone & forgot to one last thing.
Of course, I can see the benefit of setting the time-out for this feature if one has a very suspicious mate or is doing things to warrant a mate to be suspicious.
I'm surprised, the reviews made it seems like fingerprint wasn't reliable but it's great. Even had my girlfriend try it. No GS5 for her.

If you watch some of the video reviews, not all...but some, it looks like they were trying to make it malfunction on purpose to make it look bad.
I still get a bad read every once in awhile, but I'm at probably a 99% success rate. I'm *very* pleased.

Fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone question

Just picked up the note 5 a couple days ago. the fingerprint scanner works great, but I have the fingerprint option to unlock the phone selected and still most of the time all it wants me to do is swipe to unlock, occasionally asking to use the fingerprint. Is this normal? I'm under the assumption that it should require a fingerprint everytime you unlock.
It always asks for fingerprint for me, unless I'm doing the quick camera. It will say swipe home key, its asking you to clean off the button with your finger
I believe the combination of "screen timeout" and "lock timeout" settings will take care of this. However, I used to be able to just use fingerprint to unlock, and now (after last update maybe) I have to sometimes use swipe AND fingerprint which is annoying, and I can't figure out the combination of settings to adjust this.

Are you using any form of smart unlock, via location or bluetooth connections?

I am using SmartLock (both locations and bluetooth), and from running into another forum thread, I believe I'm also treating the Padlock icon wrong, where I was dragging it thinking it was there to be dragged, when really it was there to let me lock the phone (which half makes sense I guess), hence then requiring the Fingerprint unlock. Confusing, but makes more sense now.

I was doing the same thing, which is why I asked about smart lock because I think that is the only time you will come across this issue. The more you know!

Bixby Routines - Unlock Phone

I have a Bixby routine set for Home that turns on Wi-Fi and keeps the phone unlocked. Trouble is, the phone unlock seems to stop working after a period of time (using the phone or not), and the only way to fix it is to turn off the routine and turn it back on.
Anyone else seeing this?
Unfortunately, I do not have an answer to your question, but another question: How do you set the phone to unlocked? Cannot find "unlock phone" as an option, except at the default "in car"-routine
I just tried creating a new routine, and I see the option under the "Lock Screen" category.

Strange. The only options on my S10e for Lock screen, is Always on display, and Change lock screen shortcuts.
If I could just copy another routine, it would be easy.
Why not use smart lock and set it to stay unlocked at a location?

Smart Lock tends to rarely work for me, and there's also the fact it disables 4 hours after inactivity.
I am in a basement, but I don't think that's actually causing an issue as the moment I disable and re-enable my Home routine, it starts working as it should again immediately.
Do you have received a work profile enforced on the phone?

What's the initial routine you're using? Also, what's your normal lock screen type and unlock method?
I use a fingerprint + Pattern unlock normally. As for the routine, it's the "Home" one that I believe was an initial recommended one that I just modified.
It will show up if the if condition is set to "place"

Face recognition glitch

Originally I had set up face recognition along with fingerprint reading to unlock my S10. I've been troubleshooting my problematic FPS so I went to disable face recognition however I noticed the lock screen is still expecting it and an error pops up at the top stating "There was a problem with your face data. Register your face again."
I've double checked that face recognition is not enabled anywhere, is there something I'm missing? It seems like the phone still thinks it is enabled even though I have no registered faces anymore
Can anyone duplicate this?
Try switching to security "none". This will delete all your fingerprints and face data. Then enable fingerprint unlock again.

Where can that be done? I tried setting the lock screen to pattern only and deleted my face and fingerprint data.
I reregistered a face a noticed that even with the face unlock off under Lock Screen -> Screen Lock Type, the phone is still trying to use it
I think a reboot after turning everything off did the trick!

How to disable the lockout after to many failed unlock attempts?

I need to disable the lock down, it's really annoying if I can't use my phone up to 30 minutes.
Yes the proximity thing that should prevent it is active, no it doesn't work, there is a small window it accepts input from my pants pocket.
Unfortunately I don't think you can as it's baked in to the Android security protocols. The only way to disable that is to remove the unlock feature. It's odd, though, as mine doesn't have an issue at all. Have you considered it may be a hardware fault?

Not yet, you can test it on your device, cover the upper part with you hand and tap the on/off switch, for half a second you should see the fingerprint accepting input before the message "don't cover the upper part of the device" appears. And thats the whole problem (would'nt need to turn off the lockout if that would work as it should).

I think that your problem might be "smart lock". Just use the search function in settings,go to smart lock and disable On body detection, trusted places and trusted devices...all of those might try to unlock your device...someone had the same problem as you and this was the solution...these are features from Google. Try it and come back with a reply.
No smartlock features active. I know whats trying to unlock my device, its my pants, but it should be prevented by the proximity sensor (but I'm starting to repeat myself).
