Honor play performance issues on PUBGM. - Honor Play Questions & Answers

Basically my issue is that I'm unable to play pubg, without severe frame drops, above balanced with AA and shadows turned off. I don't understand why this is as I've seen many reviews praising the devices performance as being flagship quality. Yet my phone is performing worse than the sd730. Could someone please help?

Try resetting your phone otherwise mine performing good.

Mine also works perfectly fine. Try resetting or checking your network connection too.

Post-purchase: would you buy UMI ZERO?

Hi guys, I am interested in UMI ZERO but wondering if it lives up to the hype. I would like to know from those who purchased and been using it, would you buy it given your experience with it? Just want to confirm that the hardware and ROM that comes with it are both good. Thank you for your help.
Just want to say thank you for those who have participated in the poll.
For those who voted NO, would you care to share your main issues with the device? Thank you.
There are 2 important issues: WIFI bug and unexpected reboots, not solved yet in the v09 update.
Definitely , I would not buy it again.
For me the device works perfect with Arcatarc's eumi rom. I also experienced reboots with the original Umi rom. But since I changed to Arcatarc's rom the device is reliable, with no reboot in the last month. Also batery life is good with 2 to 3 days standby and 3 to 4 hour display on-time. Wifi works with most routers perfect, but with my older Netgear with alternative FW the wifi was very buggy. With the router at work I have perfect wifi speeds (on 2.4 and 5 GHz), altough the signal is a bit weaker as my nexus tablet.
So I would recommend this device if you are willing to change the rom.
I would recommend you NOT to buy the UMI Zero

I have had multiple problems with UMI Zero within a month of using it. Am listing them below:
Randomly reboots - Have tried many ROMs, all have this problem but in different frequencies
Microphone has failed - Yes! I am using only the headset now for calls
Capicitive keys have become laggy and unresponsive - Sometimes they work, sometimes they do not
Support from UMI is not good. Sellers aren't good either - UMI asks you to contact seller, seller asks you to ship back at own cost, wait for more than a month as they verify and ship you a new one (hopefully) over mail (Geekbuying)
GPS - seldom locks
WiFI has issues
Battery Drain happens faster than you would think it should (And it is not the screen, I guess it has to do with the Kernels)
ROMs are all low maturity and no sight of Lolipop due to Mediatek issues

I would reccomend complete Emui and as said before I think its the best rom I have used so far and would be reluctant to try Mui 6 as it very similar and has it own problems
I'm done with mine. Had it for around 2 months and it's just not usable as an everyday phone.
The biggest problem I have is with the battery. I get at the very most 1 hour of web browsing before the phone shuts down. That simply isn't good enough. The other day I went to an exhibition and started the day fully charged. I took about 15 photos there and was on whatsapp for about 10 minutes before it shutdown. I can't live with that. I got rid of my last phone (HTC One X) because it was 2 years old and the battery had got to the point where it wasn't lasting me long enough. Despite how poor it had got, it still lasted twice as long as the Umi!
Even more annoying is I just don't know when it's going to shutdown. Sometimes it does it at 30%, other times at 50%. The few times it's actually got below 30% it is losing about 1% for every 5s the screen is turned on once it's past 30%. I've tried several battery calibration apps but none of them have resolved the problem.
My battery has swollen now and there is a gap between the frame and the back cover. It's only a matter of time before it forces the screen off. With all the other problems the phone has, it's just wont be worth replacing the battery or cover.
I've come to the conclusion that UMI have honest intentions but they just don't know what they're doing. They've released so many stock ROMs and it doesn't feel like they have any idea whatsoever how to resolve their issues (reboots, battery, poor signal, MAC issues etc...).
They've now got 2 new phones coming out (Hammer and Zero 2) and I very much doubt we'll see any new ROMs. Perhaps a few more customisations (there must be some they've missed!) but none that actually fix the major issues with the phone.
I bought this phone a couple of years ago because I thought the design was gorgeous. I never really used it as a regular phone. After a while it quit receiving a phone signal. After research I found out that many people have the same issue. Apparently there is a defect in the design that makes the antenna connector come loosen from the motherboard. Probably got melted off because the phone literally got so hot that I could not hold it.
I even bought a second one off of E-bay and it had the exact same issue. The seller actually tried to pawn off this defective piece of trash. When I told him I knew what the problem was he didn't contest it. I did get my money back, but what an exasperating ordeal. So now I have a very nice glass & metal 5 inch tablet.

My experience with the OnePlus 3 (OP3 fans may want to ignore this...)

So I got my OP3 around a week ago now and at first, I loved it. It was by far the fastest Android phone I had used (even compared to the 6P)
However, fast does not always mean smooth. Sure, it opened apps fast, but the animations in the UI were very stuttery and janky and were horrible to watch a lot of the time. So I took to XDA with my issue and was told that a factory reset would 100% fix this, so I reset the phone... and for probably 24 hours, the phone was smooth again - hoorah! And then the stuttering slowly crept back in, the keyboard (google keyboard) was slow and froze a few times. My overall impression of the performace of the phone would be that it is fast, but compared to the smoothness of the Nexus 6P, it is below par.
The build quality is pretty good, my only issue being a very wobbly and loose volume button, but other than that, it is just as good as any iPhone or high end phone.
The screen... In short, if you are coming from a 1440p phone, you will notice the difference. Anyone that says they can't frankly needs an eye test. The colours are almost neon compared to AMOLED panels on high end Samsung's (some may like this, I didn't mind it). It gets fairly bright, not as bright as most other flagship phones though. The viewing angels are odd, tilt it one way and the display turns purple, tilt it the other way and it turns blue, slightly annoying.
The headphone jack is on par with the iPhone, which is saying a lot in my opinion. The speakers are absolute trash. Do not expect anything like the quality of the Nexus 6P or the Moto X Pure edition.
The DASH charging feature has got to be the best feature of the phone, it is as good as everyone says it is. The phone can fully charge from 0% in about 70 minutes in my testing, which is far, far faster than the Nexus 6P or any other phone I own.
The battery life is also very good, it outlasts the 6P in my experience and the standby time is also better too (dropping around 0.75% an hour compared to 1-2% an hour drain on the 6P).
The fingerprint scanner is blazingly fast, when it wants to work. I'd say 75% of the time it worked, the rest of the time it did not. I'm sure some smart guy will say that it is centrally positioned and you need to press the centre. I am aware of this and it made no difference, even after adding the same finger 5 times.
The camera is... so-so. It takes acceptable pictures is absolute perfect lighting conditions, but anything less than that and the pictures will look grainy and fuzzy. In low light, you may as well be using an iPhone 3G (I really mean that). Camera fanatics will want to avoid this phone like the plague
The real downfall of this phone for me and the reason I have no other option but to return it, is that the WiFi and cellular reception (at least for me) is worse than any device I have ever used. My iPhone 5s gets 4G pretty much everywhere at maximum speeds, whereas the OP3 managed to get 4G probably 5% of the time and at much lower speeds. The WiFi is terrible, getting around 1-2 MB/S download speed compared to 10-15mb/s on my iPhone 5s. (my internet is usually slow anyway, but the OP3 took it to a new level) This resulted in the almost 3 year old iPhone loading any form of webpage, video or audio significantly faster than the OP3.
To conclude, if you are seriously considering the OnePlus 3, lower your overall expectations. Remember that it is a cheap phone, and it is cheap for a reason. OnePlus had to cut corners somewhere and the WiFi and cellular reception, sadly is where they took a hit. The only advice I can give is that you do have a 15 day return period, so by all means try the phone and if you have a similar experience as me, you can ditch it.
I know a lot of you will hate on this post as you love the OP3 and can't bear the thought of someone saying anything bad about it. I'm not saying it is a bad phone, I think that overall, it's good, but it is not flawless by any means.
I hope this helps at least someone! I will answer any questions if I can.
I don't know what lag or smoothness issues you are talking about but that is your experience and opinion so it doesn't matter to others as long as their phone is super smooth. Since you used the Nexus 6P too though, do you mind posting here a long review for the Nexus 6P as well. I am curious to see how objective you are ?

If that is a serious request, then I guess so?
It sucks that I had issues with my device, I really wanted to keep the phone.

For those interested in my experience with the Nexus 6P (since I mentioned it a fair bit in my OP3 review) this is how I feel about it.
The 6P, in short, was my favourite Android experience. It was not the fastest phone available, the OP3 is faster. However, it was smoother than the OP3 (I focus on animations and transitions when I say this) Never once did the 6P drop a frame in the general UI of the phone, which is not something I can say for the OP3.
The screen of the 6P is superior to the OP3 as is it brighter (only just) the resolution is noticeably better and the colours were more accurate. However, every single 6P I went through (I had a total of 4 before I eventually gave up) had display issues, most of which were to do with colour banding. The build quality of the 6P is absolutely no where near that of the OP3, 2 of my devices arrived slightly bent, all of them but one had mushy buttons, they all came with some degree of scratching as well. I also noticed that the display was not fully flat on any of the devices I had, this was evident when looking at a reflection on the screen, it appeared very warped.
The headphone jack was the reason I ended up ditching the 6P. Each of my devices, without fail, had an audible hissing or white noise sound at below 50% volume. Most people said I was just unlucky, but for each of them to have this issue... I don't think so. (Yes I tried many pairs of headphones) The speakers are the best I've tried, by far. They are far superior to the tinny, horrible speaker on the OP3.
The camera is a lot better on the 6P too, it produced some fantastic shots, compared to the average - below par photos taken on the OP3.
Battery life was mostly similar, but the OP3 has the edge here. However, I had the 6P for a lot longer than the OP3, so I can't say for sure how it would perform over time compared to the 6P!
Wifi and cellular reception on the 6P was far, far greater than that of the OP3, I never had any issues with my 6P whereas my OP3 gave me constant grief.
This mostly sounds like the OP3 is fairly evenly matched with the 6P, but even having all of the issues that I had with my 6P, I would still choose it over the OP3 100% of the time. It was a more enjoyable and fluid experience that I can't fully explain.
So far, nothing quite compares to Nexus in my experience.

Did you happen to notice how slow the camera app on the Nexus 6P is? Also you mention that you replaced the Nexus 6P 4 times. Did you ever try to replace your OP3? Your unit sounds faulty or you probably used it with a custom rom that had bugs. Reception has been fine for me but I see other people complain about it. When you say that camera is below average, what do you mean or how do you compare it vs the Nexus 6P?

The camera app on the 6P was slow, yes. It was a lot faster on the OP3. I never ran a custom rom on my OP3. I am sick of having to replace phones over and over, which is why I chose to just return it and not replace it.
The camera of the OP3 is not comparable to the 6P, the 6P is far better (to my eye). The camera on the OP3 has a lot of noise in the photos and also mostly seems blurry.
I wasn't impressed with the OP3 camera, let's put it that way.
Not every phone I've had lately can be faulty, people seem to use that as an excuse for any issue I've noticed.
I do want to stress that other than the few issues I encountered with the OP3, I really wanted to keep it because it could have been almost perfect. But I couldn't make the sacrifice on those key areas.

That's fine. I think customers shouldn't have to make any sacrifices when they pay for a product. Get the iPhone 7 when it comes out. Apple uses simplistic devices that work out of the box and camera never fails to disappoint. Also their displays are the best when it comes to color accuracy and brightness. Battery life is great too. As far as the OP3 goes I agree with you that the display is average at best and you can easily notice the pixels. I have been satisfied with the camera and battery life so far (although I think they should have put a bigger battery to compensate that camera bump). This is the fastest phome I have used and I have used pretty much all the flagship devices in the last years. You could have tried to change animation speed and see if that could make the animations smooth as you like them on the Nexus 6P. To me they seem fine though. People say that for $400 this phone is the best, but I don't think that should be mentioned when we review the device. Will see what Note 7, iPhone 7 and Nexus 7 bring on the table

I couldn't agree more, the price shouldn't matter when reviewing it. I think I'm going to get the next iPhone when it is released as I am a bit tired of small, yet annoying issues with the android devices that I have used. It's a sad moment for me to decide that, but I think it'll be better for me in the long run.

It is not easy to transition to iPhone if you are used with Android ecosystem. Apple definitly got its **** together. And there are no new phones coming out every 2 months. It is just 1 iPhone every year.

I wanted to chime in this topic as I've had a nexus 6p since November and I just got the one plus three on Wed.
I terms of the nexus 6p. My unit was perfect. No display issues at all, no bending, no audio problems. Still in perfect shape even now.
The main problem I had with the nexus 6p was performance. The phone would run great after a reboot, but it would get progressively slower and laggier as time went on. I would have to reboot the phone every couple of days to keep it running quickly. Also, because it has the snapdragon 810, I would notice significant lag when the phone heated up and the cores would start turning off. This wasn't even while playing games, the phone would start thermal throttling just by using chrome. Its well known that the snapdragon 810 isn't a great SOC, even though the nexus 6p is probably the best implementation of it.
Also, when I first bought the phone, I was getting pretty good battery life, 5+ hours of SOT, now it has gotten pretty bad and I'm only getting about 4 hours of SOT.
I'm surprised that people are complaining about the 1080p display on the one plus three. In my eyes, comparing the n6p and the one plus three, I can barely tell the difference between the two screens. They are both super sharp. The only difference is that the white balance is tuned differently. The one plus three has a more bluish cooler white balance, while the n6p has a warmer yellowish white balance. i'm sure in a couple of weeks/months, there will be custom kernels for the one plus three that will let you tweak the display colors. I find it funny that when the n6p came out, people were complaining that the screen was too warm. Now people are complaining that the one plus three is too cool. People love to complain about anything.
In terms of performance on the one plus three, I've had no issues at all with lag and slowdown. I've had the phone running without a reboot for over 3 days and its still just as smooth and fast as the day I got it. Its much better than the nexus 6p in that regard.
Also, battery life on the one plus three is great. I'm consistently getting over 6+ hours of SOT.
I've also not experienced any of the wifi or LTE issues.
I'm not a big camera person, so either phone is good enough for me.
My biggest gripe with the one plus three is that the adaptive brightness is slow and doesn't work very well. Other than that, the one plus three has replaced my nexus 6p as my daily driver. I love the performance and the battery life.
I'm glad you've had no issues!
Here's hoping it stays that way!
I returned my 1+3 too. I was not compleatly sure to give it back but there were some issues that me me feel not compleatly happy:
-It warms up too much easy in my opinion. Browsing, looking picture in google foto, watching movies in streming , etc...
-it becames hot in playing games
-"fingerprint in the pocket" issue that obliged me to disable fingerprint scan
-in call audio not very good. Voice is not very clear and natural, both parts.
-adaptive display not very fast and, in some situations, became too dark to oblige me to switch in manual mode and make it brighter
-getting hot during dash charge.
-sometimes switching from normal mode to "not disturb" mode with no reason, even if the slide was in normal position
Now that i returned it back.... i don't know what to do......
For other aspects i was very happy with oneplus3 : battery, charging time, dual sim, responsiveness, display, building quality, etc.....
Even with these problems, i cannot see any other phone that fits my needs. S7 edge is the best but too costly.
I'm thinking to buy 1+3 again hoping that mine was faulty. But...still I have not decided. I'll let you know.
I hear you OP, the OP3 isn't perfect (by far), but I like it...
Looks like elemental x kernel released an update with color control.
That's one problem down.

Hot question

Hi all. I plan to buy a Huawei P10 to replace my nexus 5x. I read on several Highteck sites that he had a slight tendency to heat up during prolonged use or with big games. Some users also report that the photos are not always very clear.
Can you relate here your feelings on these 2 points and can be talk about other negative things you would have found by using it every day. Thank you for your participation.
Never had any problems with the photos other than the panoramic setting isn't great! As reguards to the heat thing I've never had it heat more than any other phone I have had!

Hi thank you for your answer. I am wary of the assessments on the specialized sites because they are more or less distorted. I prefer to rely on the user experience that is real. Thank you for answering my question and having a good day....:good:

Hello!
I am using P10 and previously I had Nexus 5x for 7 months. After the switch, the P10 is a much better phone overall. Battery feels better, camera - is a so-so, but people tell that after B130 or B151 updates it becomes so much better. The big problem with camera currently is the weird sharpness effect with cropped photos - and that one should be fixed in the new updates.
About the heating - it heats up, but less then the 5x. While Nexus was constantly around 55-60 degrees Celcius for me, the P10 is usually around 40, and could reach 55 during heavy usage, but most of the time it's just warm. Battery life should also improve with the new update.
The phone feels like 10 times faster in basic app opening, switching between apps and normal daily usage. It just feels much more responsive in any action. So yea, overall P10 is way better than the nexus, from my point of view.

Ok thanks for your very detailed feedback. Mine arrives tomorrow ..:victory:

Looking into buying this phone, but wanted actual owners inputs

I'm looking into getting this phone, but wanted actual owners inputs on the phone.
I bought a g5 plus on black friday at bestbuy, and used it for about a week and a half. I has issues with calls were cutting out, as if I had dropped call, but if I waited long enough, the call would resume fine, but the other side could not here me and eventually hung up without waiting long enough. This is a known issue on lenovo forums, as others have the same issue with the g5 plus.
I'd like people with say a month or better to chime in on this if you would.
I've watched numerous videos on the 5s plus and read thru countless reviews on it as well, and the biggest complaint seems to be with the camera and the depth feature, both of which have terrible lag time and wait time.
I've also sifted thru lenova forums to see if there are any issues, and the only other issue that I would call major is the screen cracked when it was not dropped or anything, was due to an alarm, although I'm not sure how that would happen.
That being said, has anyone encountered any issue, that I would call deal breakers, like voice calls, wifi dopping, slow hotspot or cell data, etc....
I'm not an avid big user of the camera, so I'm what you'd call a casual point-n-shoot person, so the camera is a low priority on my list when it comes to phones, as I don't do much with selfies or picture taking.
What I do want in a phone is good working voice and data, hotspot, and fingerprint scanner. I could even get past a buggy or glitchy fingerprint scanner even.
I've had some really bad bad bad experiences with phones as of late. I bought that g5 plus and had the voice call issues, which was not a carrier thing it was the phone, as my nexus 5x and oneplus 3 do not suffer from it. Now I have a oneplus 3, and although I love the phone, but it seems that I cannot upgrade my os at all, past 7.1.1, due to I get drastically slow data speeds. I won't go into a lot of detail on that, just in short anything past 7.1.1 android it happens, data speeds get cut near in 1/2. I'm in contact with 1+ and hope dearly that they can find a fix to this, but I am still shopping as I don't hold much stock in they will actually find a fix and more sluff it off, especially given they no longer support the phone at all.
My poor nexus 5x is suffering from bad battery life, more-so than before , and has some slow downs now, and stuttering at some points. I'm guessing it's on it's way out, this is why I was shopping for another phone and I got the 5 plus, but had issues, and now this oneplus 3 issue.
So as for looking and researching, it seems like the g5s plus doesn't suffer from the issues the g5 plus has, so it seems like it would be a good choice.
So I'm hoping those who actually have the phone and use it on a daily basis can chime in and tell me what the pros and cons are, what you like and/or don't like, aside from the obvious camera issues.
Thanks for any input that might help me with my choice.
I never faced any issue with Fingerprint, call, Wi-Fi. The only issue that's particularly bothering me is that most call recorder apps don't work (except Boldbeast recorder which is doing fine as of now).
My phone fell from 6 feet height once and landed flat on the screen. I thought it'd have shattered by some miracle (or the chinese tampered glass), even the protector didn't get any scratch except like 3 mm of it got chipped off one of its corners.
So, it's quite a sturdy one. Moreover, the camera quality has been improved significantly after the updates. Now, there's almost 0 shutter lag clicking the normal pics and almost half a second to 1 second lag to click in Depth mode or HDR mode.
However, I still think one plus3 is still a much better option than this one. You may also have a look at Xiaomi A1.
For the money, it's a great device. Had it for 3 months, used on gsm (att) and cdma (Verizon) no issues with calls. Since camera isn't am issue for ya, I'll say it takes pictures, certainly not the best pictures, but it works - but what would ya expect for a $300 or less phone. Low light is where it really struggles (as expected). Rom development isn't the greatest, is a relatively new device, hoping that gets better but what is available is good enough for daily drivers at least. And custom roms are 64 bit, not 32 like stock which does give a noticeable performance bump. Battery life is great - better than my 6p when it was new, and better than my n5 when it was new. Games, if that's your thing, run fine. I tried some racing sims for fun and no problems (I was actually impressed by how they ran). The all metal construction feels solid, really solid. I've never used a case or screen protector (it lives in my back pocket), dropped it from about 4 feet one day on to a hard tile floor, not a mark in it. I'll also say the finger print gestures are great. No need for the nav bar, which makes the screen almost the exact same size as the 6p (at my age bigger is definitely better!). The sd625 has enough power to run everything smoothly, with the benefit of being very power efficient. Ruining 64 bit os, performance is almost as good as my 6p (before the big cores died) - sorting and adding formula to a spreadsheet with 100k to 150k rows takes a few seconds, but barely longer than the fully working 6p.
This is a good bang for your buck device. I'd recommend it, and have to a few people who are getting it now.
It has its Pros and Cons, but it's really the first Android device I've had that I haven't immediately thought about my next phone. It's fast enough, smoother than my wife's iphone 7 at least..Everything is a little better than average except camera performance. Camera is "meh" as others have pointed out, and there have been times where I was frustrated trying to take decent photos over the holidays.
*Really wish it had NFC for Android Pay
*If you can afford it, get the 4GB RAM version. Using the camera causes most apps to close out of memory for some reason on my 3GB model. Sent bug requests and they say it is due to RAM management.
In the $200-$300 price range, I think it's either this phone or the Honor 7x. Honor has a better Camera, but has EMUI
Thanks for he input.
On looking more, it seems moto released a patch that fixes the camera issues now, so that's a good thing. The video I saw with the new update and depth setting was a HUGE inccrease in speed now....almost instant now compared to 2-3 seconds or better.
So far I can't seem to find much negative about this phone, perhaps because its still new, not sure.

Looking on Swappa.com, I was seeing OnePlus 3T's in the $300-$350 range, which if you ask me, looks like a better phone...Not as "new", but Snapdragon 821, 6 GB of RAM, I think they're already on Oreo too...
Coming from the oneplus 3 and having slow data issues, and this is not just a little, this is at least 1/2.....24Mbps before the update to Oreo, down to 8-10Mbps after. That unexceptible in any terms. I've been in contact with 1+ and after 5 emails, still no fix in sight.
I don't feel like repeating the same thing all over.
This data issue is rampant on the one plus 3. Do a search on "oneplus 3 slow speed after android update". Tons of people having the issue. This has haunted these phones since 2016.
Not everyone has it, some do, but I'm not willing to take that chance again.
Update:
Did some testing on my hotspot today on the 1+3, so I wanna ask, is anyone here with a g5s plus, using tmobile service and hotspot? can you test your hotspot speeds and let me know what you get.
I have a suspicion tmobile is limiting non-branded tmobile phones ie: a phone that's unlocked, and not bought from tmobile store or tmobile.
Both my 5x and 1+3 have the issues of slow hotspot, but when I went to a tmobile store today, inserted my sim card in a tmobile branded phone and tested hotspot on my 5x and 1+3, I got good speeds, 24-50Mbps, but when I put the sim in the 5x or the 1+3, both suffer from bad slow hotspot speeds 1-3Mbps, while cell data on the phone is fine.
If they are indeed blocking or limiting non-tmobile branded phones, then even the g5s plus will suffer from slow hotspot as well.
Last update:
I finally did some more tesitng today, and found that the 1+3 has what I think is hardware issues with hotdpot. I placed my sim into my 5x phone and now things are fine, so it's not a tmobile issues or blocking non tmobile phones, as my 5x is still non tmobile, but it works fine.
I'm going to chalk it up as the 1+3 has bad hardware or flawed hardware of some sort that affects bad hotspot.
I'm going to order the g5s Plus this coming friday so I am looking forward to getting this phone.
" the screen cracked when it was not dropped or anything, was due to an alarm, although I'm not sure how that would happen."
Lol. It wouldn't. I read that a lot about the xperia z3 too. People drop phones and struggle to admit "i was clumsy and dropped my glass phone and it cracked".
I have the g5s plus and it's great. The camera isn't very good, and sometimes apps crash, usually at the point they're loaded/switched back to, and sometimes an app I'm not using will tell me it's crashed but other than that it's very stable. I've had no random reboots. Battery life is great. I had the z3 before for about 3 years and the screen just failed while I was holding it. I just can't be bothered with expensive phones any more so I got the g5s plus expecting it to be a step down from the z3 but it is better in every respect except for the camera (awesome on the z3, average on the g5s plus) and the magnetic charger (z3 has, g5s plus has the old fashioned usb only and i'm always worried it's going to die one day). If I lost this phone I'd buy another one to replace it without thinking about it. I considered the oneplus 5 initially but it's twice as expensive and the camera isn't very good on that one either so i wasn't sure where the extra £250 I'd need to pay would be going (I paid £260 in the uk for my g5s plus).
I'm not expecting moto to rush out oreo, however. I get the feeling they're even slower than samsung for updates.

My own opinion, coming from a Note 4..... Camera isnt good. Other than that, this is a spectacular phone, running rooted stock only. Catch it on sale and cant beat it.
Use it as my work phone, great battery life and very smooth. Here in the UK I can't get volte or WiFi calling which is a little annoying.. Motorola don't release updates like they used to either, they are much slower.
That's not too say is a bad phone though, I really like it.
Phone is really good for a normal user. I'm using this for more than a week now. It works well. I get 2 days battery backup. This is the best phone available at this price for the hardware specification.
My 2 cents , is this I had a Nexus 6 p and then an Essential , the Nexus was great but it had a terrible battery issue, the screen wasnt very good, i actually had two of them the first one died within a week, then aftrr 2 years i got the Essential , what a beautiful phone , very elegant, barely drop it , crack, still nice, but there is a terrible camera. The calks dropped because the cellular software and radio is messed up , the side screen s have touch issues , theres a lot of little things
The G5S+ , i bought because it was rated high for midlevel phone and to be quite honest , its lightbthan both previous phones, better call quality , vetter battery life, this phone wont be any other phone on any test , but it will always rate in the middle of the pack, it has not let me down at all, feels good in the hand , great touch , everything about it is mediocre , but thats ok, because it rocks, its my go to daily driver , it was sim unlocked when i bought it, bl unlocked after 5 minutes adb , havent rooted or twrped it yet , nit enough time, but its worth the money

Pixel badly warm to palm

Hello guys,
I pretty much love my new pixel device.
However ever since I received it, it turns damn warm just by surfing on the I internet. Surely that's partly due to the metallic body. So I checked the CPU temperature which always 37°C +.
Just wondering: Are You experiencing the same?
Never had a phone feeling so hot
Cheers

Sorry to hear it. I'm not a heavy user but haven't experienced any heating issue with it whilst surfing / messaging. Gets slightly warm when fast charging but thats about it.
Mine got way too warm (i'd even call it hot) from a Duo video call. Looking at the battery consumption, there was a serious drain during that call caused by Duo. Obviously, the CPU went crazy. I don't know whether this was a Duo bug or the CPU i stressed by this HQ video calls. Any similar experiences so far?
Yes. Mine is very warm browsing the Web. Battery life is the worst I've experienced on any phone, and my screen protudes away from the frame on the top left corner.

That sounds awful. My build quality is fine and battery life is stellar. I would consider returning it. Maybe the battery will be improved by a software update but that still leaves the poor build quality and possible lack of waterproofing.

Yes,software update will fix everything, lol..
Update: Had another Duo video call today and the phones did not get unusual warm. There also was no considerable battery drain. Seemed to be a big yesterday.
BTW: Battery life is stellar! Even with my Samsung smartwatch permanently connected, my Pixel 5 easily survives the whole day with 30% left in the evening. If you gut battery drain, I suggest resetting the phone.
I received a software update this morning...I reckon that solved it for the moment

I think it's the play store.
Sent from my Pixel 5 using Tapatalk
The update was for Google play system updates. It's part of Project mainline. Basically Google broke out some of the system pieces that it didn't want vendors to be capable of holding back. They push updates to those pieces themselves as they see fit. This is the first one I've ever seen though.
I'm having the same issue, it gets warm when I'm browsing the web or even just browsing through my photo gallery. Been trolling the web to see if anyone is having the same issue, this is the first post I found. Nothing on YouTube.
Mine gets very warm when playing a game or after a video call (battery drain is high) other then that it's fine for normal usage surfing web etc. Battery life is still stellar overall for me

I didn't receive any software update you guys speak of above though? Hmm I'm still on September update for Google play store and 5tg October for Android 11 update
