[MSM Tool] Guac for All - OnePlus 7 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

To everyone who donated, I love y'all. This took a really long time to get lol but it's straight from support and I did not make any modifications to it; I hope it helps a lot of people. The revision is listed in the archive, I believe it's guacamole_21_O.07_190512_repack and the L2 drivers are included as well. MSM Tool/Guac for all

Here are some instructions, kinda:
A few things to note:
- Works perfectly fine for unbricking GM1917 modeled OnePlus 7 Pros.
- Use the original cable and try to plug it into a USB 2.0 port. I've found that this is the most ideal condition.
- Make sure your device is charged up. If you can't see how much charge it has, leave it charged via the 30W warp charger for 40 minutes and that should be good enough.
- In the L2 drivers folder found in the archive, navigate to the 32 or 64 folder depending on your system's architecture, and click on the file that ends in the extension ".cat". Then, click "view signature", then "View certificate", then "Install." This is IMPORTANT.
- Then, make sure your device is powered OFF, then, plug in the USB-A side of the cable (big head) into your computer and do NOT connect the USB-C (small head) into your phone yet.
- Hold down Volume up AND volume down for five seconds, and while you're continuing to hold, plug the USB-C side into your phone. The drivers should automatically download, and you should see a "Qualcomm QD loader" device in Device Manager. If you see an exclamation mark or you don't see this, you are doing it wrong and you need to repeat the above steps.
- Open up MSMTool.exe as an administrator and click 'start' only. Should take a few minutes, but you will have a good-as-new OnePlus 7 Pro.

Is this for T-Mobile users to get an unlocked international version or is it for any user with a OnePlus 7 Pro to unbrick their phone? Thanks for your effort in any case, Android/XDA is about community.
If it's for any user, what version will be pushed to the phone?

It appears to be OxygenOS OTA: 9.5.3: OnePlus7ProOxygen_21.O.07_OTA_007_all_1905120542 - for (GM21AA) 1917 Global/Unlocked and India 1911
MSMTool OPS File name: guacamole_21_O.07_190512
rev_OverSeas_190512_0521_release_OTA-BLOCK_Signed_fp1905120521_cve2019-04-01_ufs_Oxygen-OS-9.5.3.GM21AA
Great Job! I hope it works. If someone tries this please make a video!

Needs the Patched tool tho for converting

Just finished downloading the file it's for the GM21AA which is the international version. I think the exe still needs to be patched before we can convert the T-Mobile into international.

I've tried converting the T-Mobile variant using the patched binaries from the OP6T. It doesn't work. It immediately goes to N/A Status on the "Recording download time" step.
Likely the new MSM tool binary will need to be patched. If I was aware of the exact patches I'd do them for everyone. I'll see what I can dig up.

The support agent who I got it from managed to un-brick my phone. My phone's model is GM1917

Packages with build tag GM21AA are intended for the following variants:
GM1911: India
GM1917: Global/US Unlocked (?)
Packages with build tag GM21BA are intended for the following variant:
GM1913: EU
Packages with build tag GM31CB are intended for the following variant: (not supported at this moment)
GM1915: T-Mobile

From "Repo of Oxygen OS Builds" over at the OnePlus forums. Just thought people should know. Because it's a lot of confusion going on because two packages got leaks. One for the EU version & one for the Global/US Unlocked version.

I'm curious, I know they wrote that in the fastboot images thread because each one corresponds to a different device model, but does it truly matter? All OnePlus 7 Pro devices have the exact same hardware and partitions, no? So at the end of the day, flashing the US Unlocked software on a TMO device should be all fine and dandy, correct? Or is this one of those cases where OnePlus devices are different from others, like with the whole Widevine L1/L3 thing?

That's why I kinda mentioned it. Once the MSM Tool is patched, it should be able to be used on all OnePlus 7 Pro devices regardless of it's model (GM1917, GM1915, etc...) right?

Yeah I said the same thing earlier "Just finished downloading the file it's for the GM21AA which is the international version. I think the exe still needs to be patched before we can convert the T-Mobile into international."
A few people have tried it already and I think they got stuck at one of the steps.

Wow nice. Now to test this on T-Mobile!! Let the flashing commence
Don't think this is a good idea; from what has been communicated the Modem for T-Mobile is different or has a different signature; you might end up with a brick. We we obviously won't find out unless we try. The problem is... you don't have an image to re-flash the T-Mobile version, so you might have to send it in.
im tempted to run this today on the tmobile model. how high is the risk of hard brick? will it leave me without fastboot if it doesnt work?

It's not how this tool works. A raw dump doesn't equal a flashable fastboot dump doesn't equal a msmdownloadtool ops file.
Edit: apparently you can't use the not equals symbol. I wrote a lengthy reply and it's gone. I'll write a shorter version.
My assumption is there is no version for the T-Mobile, but this will work for a full conversion. OP support will most likely not use this on the T-Mobile version and it's why we had to void our warranty when we unlocked the bootloader. They probably defer you to T-Mobile if you brick your phone. Now that being said, I bet this tool works just fine on the T-Mobile version and will turn it into a full international device capable of OTA updates and everything.

One of three things will happen.
One, it will recognize it as the wrong device and won't flash at all.
Two, it will flash and you'll have a hard brick.
Three, it will flash and you'll have a fully converted International version.
If you have to return it to TMobile, you shouldn't have any issues returning it. A dead device is a dead device, the reps don't care. Also getting your new one unlocked should be no issue as all since you already had your first device unlocked. Just tell support that. Your device was unlocked and you had to RMA it. They will SIM unlock no problem. You will still have to wait 7 days for the unlock bin.

It’s basically a different OS variant for the global 6T as they can switch between either OS without issue, since the global OOS MSMDOWNLOADTOOL won’t work with the T-Mobile variant, this definitely won’t.

What about the modded msmdownloadtool that they use to flash the T-Mobile 6t to global without unlocked bootloader
This is the tool in talking about

Here you go I installed this on my 6t with no issues at all its the international version I don't have the T-Mobile version and I still get updates and all and yes play store works fine..
edit: i unlocked the bootloader as well no issues will report back once ive rooted
edit 2: i was able to update to 9.0.11 perfectly fine with no issues and ive rooted without problems as well
Question 1: If I've got the Chinese OnePLus 6T that originally came with HOS, and I bricked it, can is use the MSM tool with OOS when I restore?
Question 2: The files in the original post on this thread are no longer available --is there a Hydrogen OS MSM tool for the OnePlus 6T floating around now, in 2021?
Any help you can offer would be sincerely appreciated --had the phone for a single day before I muddled it up.

Korea region V40, can I flash to European firmware?

Hello,
I have a LM-V409N here. It has some Korean bloatware but worse than that, even though the phone is set to English, a lot of things are still in Korean. For example an available software update description is in Korean. Buttons in the phone app show Korean text, etc.
Can I flash a European firmware on to this model? Will that 'just work'?
I hope someone can help me with this.
Thank you,
Rooted? you won't get far otherwise. Had the same problem on my korean G5.
On a rooted device though, you can edit the build.prop locale to your native region to turn off the korean elements of the UI and obviously remove the bloat.
some of the bloat can be disabled even if uninstall isn't allowed. Carrier specific ones can't unfortunately.
Flashing wise, iirc that's a no go as it will break radio. No signal afterwards. At least that was the problem on the V35.
Thank you so much for your reply. This makes me worry a bit less
No I don't have it rooted (yet). I will go figure out how to do that for this phone model and then if I can't find out how to do the build.prop changes I will come back here to ask for help
Do you have any idea why WiFi HotSpot is not working properly? Laptops and other phones just don't see the SSID and when trying to setup a 5GHz hotspot, the slider hangs when you turn it on (turns gray and freezes) and you have to reboot the phone to get it enabled again. But it will only turn on when on 2.4GHz.
If I can get all the Korean stuff to disappear, flashing won't be necessary anymore So let me get to finding that out!
Let's first see if flashing fixes anything.
Thank you so much once again!
Edit: Come to think of it, when I turn on the phone it shows an SK Telecom animation and sound (some Korean carrier I guess) and I would like that removed as well..
I guess the only way to get that removed is to flash another firmware? Would you know a firmware version for this LM-V409N which is just 'LG original' without any carrier/provider customization?
Thank you!
Edit2: OK, I found out how I can flash a stock firmware using the LGUP tool. However, this fails at the beginning of the process because of an 'Initialize' error.
I suspect I need the device to be rooted before flashing..? I could find how to flash pretty easily, but how to root..?
Can anyone point me to a guide for rooting the V40?
Thanks!
No, you don't need root. Just search here on xda for crossflash word. In the g7 forum I have made an tutorial. You will need lg drivers, com port, lg up and common. DLL for v40. For g7 it works like a charm. Be sure to check and compare GSM bands from Korea to EU. For g7 they was the same.

OK, did all that. LGUP starts up, detects my LM-V409N correctly.
I select the KDZ file, set it to UPGRADE and click START.
Now it gives me the error 'LGUP Framework must be 1.16'. I have 1.14 apparently and I can't find 1.16 anywhere.
I read something about "If you do have some knowledge to bypass the LGUP Version Check on this DLL, then You can sideload kdz firmware onto your LG V40 ThinQ with LGUP 1.14." on this site: https://www.mylgphones.com/lgup-dll-for-lg-v40-thinq-version1-9-39-7.html
But again, I can't find anything about how to bypass that version check.
I tried with LGUP_common.dll versions 1.9.39.7 and 1.0.39.10. Both same result (need 1.16).
Also tried with 0.0.3.23 but that one gives the "Initialize" error after clicking START.
Any other tips or tricks you can suggest?
Thank you,

Hello.
I told you to look in g7 forum for crossflash. You will need lg up 1.15 and follow the exact steps. Beware it may brick your device, so I'm not responsible.
Link here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg...ash-oreo-pie-firmwares-lg-g7-g7-t3915303/amp/
Warning!!! Pay attention not to download the common. DLL from there as it is for lg g7. You must download for your v40. Also for your firmware. Also you will loose your data, so backup first if you have important files, sms, etc.

OK so for my clarification, this method is how to bypass the version check? (If yes, I will go try this).
Or is this a separate method? (If it is separate, I'm afraid to brick it and I will not try it).
Thank you so much for your help. It really is very much appreciated.

Yes, this is for bypassing the obsolete lg up 1.14.
But 1.15 will not work if you open it, it will ask you for developer user and password. But there is a hack with using cmd line. Follow my steps.
I repeat again, if there is a working DLL for lg v40 and if 40 supports crossflashing (highly it does) then you're good to go. Don't forget to check what is your com port when your v40 is connected in download mode.

No I didn't. Neocyke told me that radio wouldn't work that way so that would have been useless then. This is the post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80177222&postcount=2
Or did he mean FM Radio......? Because I could live without FM Radio.
The one I did flash is still Korean, but it has no carrier customization. No cellular provider specific apps, no Korean company logo's at startup.
Only thing I noticed is that there still are Korean characters showing right below the numbers in the phone dialer app. But it also shows ABC, DEF, etc.
Oh, and a second clock showing Korean time on the lock screen :silly: which I can't find out how to turn off

I also have that clock on my V50.
For me it worked with my g7+ Hong Kong international to European and also got volte amd vowifi.
Yes, he was referring to the GSM radio. So this will be risky.
Maybe you should not try. You can check if someone did it with G7....
I also have remembered that I cross flashed my G7 from HK to European, to Korean, back and fourth between them and all was fine.
---------- Post added at 06:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:58 PM ----------
Maybe the V line from LG is risky about radios. Or maybe that was on V35. My point is that this is very risky an you should assume responsibility if flashing. Maybe it's better do not try it.

I will see how it goes with this firmware for a week or two. If it is all fine, I'll leave it like this.
I don't suspect it will brick the phone though if I flash a European firmware.. As long as you can get into Download-mode, there is not much to worry about I think

[OP7TPRO][OOS HD01AA | HD01BA] Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS

Disclaimer: By attempting any of the processes listed in this thread you accept full responsibility for your actions. I will not be held responsible if your device stops working, catches fire, or turns into a hipster and claims to have been modified before it was cool.
Hi everyone, similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO and OP7T here are the EDL packages (also known as MSM tool or unbrick tool) that can revive a bricked OnePlus 7T Pro.
They can also be used to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS.
You can download the following versions:
HD01AA tools (International and indian firmware):
ANDROID 10:
10.0.3
10.0.4
10.0.5
10.0.7
10.0.8
10.0.11
10.0.12
10.0.13
10.0.14
ANDROID 11:
11.0.5.1
Mirror for first and last MSMs per Android version: https://onepluscommunityserver.com/
HD01BA tools (European firmware):
ANDROID 10:
10.0.3
10.0.4
10.0.5
10.0.7
10.0.8
10.0.9
10.0.11
10.0.13
ANDROID 11:
11.0.5.1
Mirror for first and last MSMs per Android version: https://onepluscommunityserver.com/
It should work with HD1910 (Chinese variant), HD1911 (Indian variant), HD1913 (EU variant) and HD 1917 (North America) models.
Instructions:
Power your device off
Maintain volume up and volume down keys to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
Click on Enum to be sure your device is detected and press Start.
Wait ~300 seconds
Enjoy your brand new device
FAQ:
I see a target button, what is that?
As you may (or may not!) be aware there are starting from 7T-Series build specifics to India.
If you use HD01AA tool, selecting "O2" as target should give you the global firmware while selecting "India" as target should give you the Indian one. See
https://imgur.com/2ipNyIy
for a screenshot.
If you use HD01BA tool, selecting "EU" should give you the EU firmware.
My device isn't detected when I click on "Enum" button
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.
If it shows up as QHUSB_BULK, it means Qualcomm driver wasn't installed automatically by Windows Update. Download the latest one from Microsoft website at http://download.windowsupdate.com/c..._fba473728483260906ba044af3c063e309e6259d.cab (source https://www.catalog.update.microsof...updateid=8ee52ba0-bdef-4009-88cf-335a678dd67a ) and install it manually by right clicking on QHUSB_BULK and selecting "Update driver software" and "Browse my computer for driver software" to where you downloaded CAB file.
MSM tool is stuck on "Param pre-processing"
Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked in first part of this FAQ.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.
How can I fix "SMT config not found" error?

Hi thank you for the awesome work. I wanted to say what about when your device is bricked that the only function is an error message "Your device Is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot.
When you have power button and volume down the screen goes black you think it powered off, you try to manually go into bootloader mode just to have the error message again and stays in a loop. There is no recognition on my PC except for a minute when you connect sound very rapidly it disconnects and then it's just dead except for the error loop.
My phone is brand new barely had barely a day and a half. Is there any fix for the phone it's an HD1910. Please help thank you.

Ensure you're using the Qualcomm drivers linked above.
MSM tool is stuck on "Sahara communication failed"
Unplug your phone, get in fastboot mode, turn off phone, wait 15 secondes and get back in Qualcomm EDL mode. You can also try using a USB 2.0 port instead of a 3.0 one.
What is SMT Download mode?
Just don't try to unlock that mode, it will wipe your IMEI and your Widevine certificate if you use it.

Hi everyone, finally, almost one year after this device release date and similar to the previous threads for
OP3, OP3T, OP5, OP5T, OP6, OP6T, OP7, OP7PRO, regular OP7T, T-Mobile OP7T, regular OP7TPRO and T-Mobile OP7TPRO 5G here is the EDL package (also known as MSM tool or unbrick tool) that can revive a bricked OnePlus 7 Pro 5G EU bough from EE in UK or Elisa in Finland.
It can also be used to rollback your phone to a previous release of OOS if for some reason you want to go back to an older firmware
It will only work with 5G EU variant GM1920
You can download the following version:
ANDROID 9:
9.5.11 GM27BA
Instructions:
Launch MsmDownloadTool V4.0.exe.
Power your device off.
Maintain volume up and volume down keys to get into Qualcomm EDL mode.
Plug your device to your computer using stock OnePlus cable.
Click on Enum to be sure your device is detected and press Start.
Wait ~300 seconds.
Enjoy your brand new device.
FAQ:
Does this work on Mac or on Linux?
Unfortunately no, tool is Windows only. You should need at least Windows 7.
My device isn't detected when I click on "Enum" button
Go to device manager and make sure your phone shows up as QDLOADER 9008.

Sorry to bring up an old thread. Just wanted to know if you know where I can find the firmware to flash the 4g global version that works on the EE UK 5g phone.
I have the UK EE 5g GM1920 version and would like to load the global 4g version on it to enable the dual sim. I don't use 5g and don't care if it doesn't work.
will this unlock sim?

I believe 5G EU variant shouldn't be SIM locked.
