Hello,
I rooted and installed a custom ROM on my Note 9 a couple of months ago and yesterday I was getting annoyed not being able to use apps like Android Pay, Samsung Pay and Banking apps, So I decided to use Odin to flash the stock ROM back and set OEM Unlock to OFF. To my Horror, I found out the hard way about what a KNOX Trip was. I have no idea how I missed all the warnings on every ROM post about tripping it and not being able to change it back. I can now use my Banking apps, Android Pay and play Fortnite however, Because of the Knox being tripped I can no longer use Samsung Health and Samsung Pay
My Question is is there a way to just install a custom kernel or ROM that tricks apps like Samsung Pay and Samsung Health into working again without installing root and having modifications hidden so I can use my Banking apps and play games??
Any Help is very much appreciated!
After a bit more searching the forums and Google I now understand that no matter what I do I can't get Samsung pay to work which is fine. However any help on the rest is still appreciated! ?
You should go read some more as you also missed the part where tou can use magisk hide. but it wont get back spay.

I did use Magisk Hide to hide root from apps but some apps could still detect the custom rom was installed.

try endurance. but besure ure rom base matches kernel ramdisk or u won't be able to get past lock screen. so do a full twrp backup in case
or just try dr ketan. usualy best all round working rom.

I have installed a custom rom without root access and my banking app and games work perfectly however Google pay is detecting the unlocked bootloader. Anyway to hide this with out rooting the phone?

for google pay, some actualy revert to an older version. just search the forums. for me magisk hide works great with my banking app. and for games, im not much of a gamer so i realy dknt know. but again you should try with dr. ketan rom just in case it works. just choose to flash kernel and magisk during setup.( do a clean install so factory wipe in twrp before flashing his rom)
Well i decided to just use Stock Rom and lock the bootloader so at least most of my apps then work. I installed a modified apk of Samsung Health but it doesn't contain the heart rate monitor but I suppose that's fine and I just have to accept that Samsung Pay will never work again
Where can i get the old version of Google pay which works with unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my SM-N960F using Tapatalk
S heath can work on a rooted device with a simple change to the build prop , but secure folder and spay remain a dud

I successfully installed magisk on my samsung s8 but now the secure folder, software updates and maybe other apps don't work as they recognise my phone being rooted. I thought the point behind magisk was to hide the phone from looking rooted?
how can i fix this issue?
thanks
You tripped KNOX by flashing custom binaries. You're boned.
is there a way to root the phone without tripping KNOX?

There might be, but I don't think there's any going back for you. As far as I know you can't revert a triggered KNOX...
I installed magisk because I thought knox won't be tripped but I was wrong.
Does anyone know how I can use secure folder, software updates and banking apps now that my app is rooted? they can all recognise my app is rooted and won't work

You can still hide Magisk from many apps with Magisk. You'll just have to activate Magisk Hide in the Manager settings. SafetyNet is added by default and any other app that detects root might be fooled if you add it to the Magisk Hide list.
I've said it before and I'm sure I'll say it again. The purpose of Magisk is NOT to hide root and pass SafetyNet (it's just a really nice feature); it's to make your system modifications systemless. You could use this to keep your devices ability to update through OTA, with a couple of extra steps. But, the main advantage for me (and it's the deal-breaker) is that I don't have to redo any of my system modifications after an update. These could be changing screen density, debloating system apps, systemising apps, changing prop values, etc. Before Magisk I could spend 30-45 minutes after an update just setting upp all the system tweaks the way I wanted it, only to realise a couples of days later I'd forgotten something. Now, with Magisk - flash the update, done!

I have activated Magisk Hide and selected the app (Lloyds banking app) then restarted the phone but the app can still recognize that the phone is modified.
I'll look at the other solution that are being proposed in one of the links you've sent and sew how it goes but if anyone has any advice on how to fix this, that will be great.
I have backup for my bootloader, boot, system etc - flashing that back, will it revert the knox?
Thanks

I don't do Samsung, but as I understand it: nope.
More info can probably be found in your device's forum here on XDA.

Realise this is a very late reply, but if still had no joy with Lloyd's banking app, it will store it's root detection so will still think your phone's rooted even after Magisk Hide. Need to wipe the app data or reinstall.
I just bought a Pixel 3a from swappa.com. One of the things that I've noticed is that when I run any Niantic games, it tells me my device or OS is incompatible with this version. I suspect this may be because the bootloader is unlocked? However, the phone is NOT rooted.
Any ideas on what my options would be? Had a chat with Google and they're supposed to be emailing me once their experts find a solution, but not crossing my fingers on that. I already tried locking the bootloader with fastboot and had a freakout (was able to unlock it again and factory reset, LOL . . . )

I'm unlocked, rooted (stock ROM and kernel), and spoofing gps and I'm still able to play Pokemon Go.
I'd recommend flashing the latest stock factory image to clear out anything the old user may have left behind.
If that doesn't work I'd root using Magisk, then hide Magisk and applicable apps.

Wiped and rooted phone, installed stock rom from Google, and it worked! Pokémon Go AND Wizards United working. Thanks so much!
Im on Stock Rooted and Ex Kernel all you have to do is go to magisk use Mgaisk Hide the games and go into settings then HIDE Magisk or i think its repackage hide something aroudn that and yeah it works oh also you have to turn off debugging in dev options.

If you decide to use the GPS spoof, I highly recommend fakegps route, it gives you a thumb stick so you can walk around while being a couch potato. It's 4 bucks.
Just use the Magisk module "systemize" to make it a priv-app, restart your phone, uninstall the app from the app store, enable expert mode in the GPS app, then disable fused locations the GPS app.

I unlocked my Bootloader and installed TWRP to install Pixel Experience custom ROM. Everything was working fine until I discovered that all the UPI based payment apps (PhonePe, Google Tez , BHIM ) are now not functioning showing popup that my device is ROOTED. What should I do? Would going back to MIUI help?
Just do a simple search in Google how to use banking app in rooted phone and you will get solution.
This is not related to mm2 only

Just flash magisk manager and check. may be your rom files includes magisk
Magisk hide
Hello,
I just flashed Xiaomi.eu ROM 9.10.17. How can I use Google Pay with it? I guess the unlocked Bootloader is preventing Google Pay? When I install Magisk Manager to check if I pass safety net it passes.
My experiences with google pay on Xiaomi.EU roms aren't great...
What you need to install is the magisk manager & hide all the google stuff.
Also you need to hide magisk itself.
https://github.com/davidramiro/gpay-gms-patch/blob/master/README.md
I guess you also need to do this.
But, for me it ain't working.. I guess the problem was with my bank.
Don't know why but I guess it had to be something with Android 10.
I went back to the official miui rom & Google Pay is working again.
I use Google Pay every day so I'm sticking with official rom.
Hope it will work when Miui 11 with Android 10 will be released.
My opinion if you want to do bankstuff & google pay. Stick to official rom.
Hello. for me, no worries. Google play works.
Did you delete your cards then reload them? The instructions said load your cards, but probably should've said delete your cards from Gpay first, follow that patch guide, then entire your cards onto Gpay from scratch.
Running MIUI 11 xiaomi.eu with unlocked bootloader, magisk rooted. Gpay works
So I have to be rooted with Magisk? Because I didn't want to have root anymore.
me it works without Magisk. I had to put the cards passing by miui 11. safetynet ok
Magisk+safety net module

Google play? Or Google pay?
Works great on RevolutionOS Q
Use hce option under NFC switch in connection menu in the settings if gpay does not tell you that you cannot add any card. Otherwose there is a ton of posts on how to make gpay work on rooted devices
stock miui 11 EU google pay doesn't work (root or no root) something about the unlocked bootloader detection. i have for the life of me never got it to work besides one time it glitched and i did rot hide and extremely fast added a card. it added but never was able to pay with it.

Folks, check this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/magisk-google-pay-gms-17-1-22-pie-t3929950
Method works great. Root needed. See steps that were successful for me at post #764 (4th post page 77) there. PW
With google coming up with increasingly stricter policies of what deems a device safe and rise of hardware attestation for safetynet, does the note 10 face these issues, or do the payment/banking apps work fine?
I have a Samsung A51 and once my device was rooted the Samsung Pass application will not allow me to record and use any security passwords or biometric security. The application gives me a message stating that because my device is rooted I can no longer use Samsung Pass. However, I am still able to use passwords and biometrics on my bank accounts application.
Last year, I changed the firmware of the LG V35 ThinQ I had and Google Pay would not work for me.
if it comes rooted yes , you will have to hide the root otherwise wont work
Everything works fine for me. I'm using a custom rom and I'm rooted. Play store shows my device is certified, and it passes safetynet on magisk.

What is the best way to hide the root?
To hide root, enable magisk hide, and change the magisk manager to something else, like mgsk. I enable gpay in magisk hide, and even changed magisk manager to mgsk (You can use any name, but remember the name you change to), and I'm now able to access gpay. Works everytime.
